  1. Really? I am pretty sure that, not being overweight and not paying any attention to my weight, I do not have any insecurities about my weight to hide. My overweight friend does have these insecurities. It's really not so much a case of hiding insecurities as the fact that certain personalities are more prone to developing them.

Though not a poem of mine, this one by Yamabe no Akahito is so wonderful that I am going to post it here anyway. To my good friend Would I show, I thought, The plum blossoms, Now lost to sight Amid the falling snow.
  3. I really shouldn't be surprised at all the pessimism in this thread, I suppose.
  4. I seem to be somewhere in between you all: I see no problem with drinking for drinking's sake and getting drunk, but like anything if you do so too much it becomes boring, and I think many people do overdo it.

My personal favourite is spaghetti with pepperdew peppers in it. Mmmm.
  6. This is my method of playing.
  7. Archaeology ftw.

The following was composed almost two years ago now, on a beach. A wave crashes on the sand - opal shimmers. Shortly thereafter, I ventured inland to visit the moors, hoping to admire the gently undulating landscapes from an idyllic village. On the moor: thick fog obscures all but my feet. As the verse makes clear, I was unable to enjoy the view owing to the fog that set in. Instead I made do with a hearty lunch at a country pub.
  9. I may be wandering a little offtopic here, but I was wondering where you'd all like to see the next TES game set ('All of Tamriel' not being a valid answer ;-) ). My personal preference would probably be High Rock, followed by the Summerset Isles.
  10. ^ This is very true. Ron Paul is rather more atavistic than progressive, and while this means he has some common ground with progressive liberals, at the end of the day he is not going to succeed in taking votes from Obama's lot. But it's also important to remember the reason why people support Ron Paul and dismiss the Tea Party: the former manages to communicate his ideas in a rather rational and articulate manner, thereby attracting at least in part any sane people attracted to liberal or libertarian ideologies; the latter is a frenzied group of buffoons that, though perhaps similar in ideals, is nevertheless not closely associated with Paul (instead, Bachmann, Palin et al are more closely associated), who go around waving misspelt and/or racist signs in DC. The point being that Paul markets similar ideals in a sane manner, and it's understandable why someone who shares at least some ideological grounding with him would be frustrated by similarly inclined idiots making a joke out of their political stance.
  11. This certainly worried me earlier in the year (even as a non-American who doesn't live there), but I think that the debt ceiling fiasco in August was the height of Tea Party political power. Any sane person who was previously a Tea Partier certainly won't be after seeing how the debt ceiling was manipulated for political gain. I hope end expect their five minutes of fame to be over a few years from now.
  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-16416324 I can remember there being a great deal of discussion around the time of August's straw poll on OT about the amusing Republican line-up, in particular Bachmann. My own view is that, seeing as Bachmann was never going to get anywhere near office, I would've liked her to stay the course of the primaries to continue entertaining us from the frontline of politics. On the other hand, her poor showing in the Iowa caucus has partially restored my confidence in the American electorate (though the fact that Santorum came second is a little disheartening).
  13. Thank you. It's probably not good enough (29 or so) seeing as its an expert chest, but I am assuming I can go there at a later point and pick it up.
  14. Seeing as you're all probably better than me at Skyrim, I thought I'd ask for the wise council of the Harbringers on this thread. My problem is that I misunderstood the benefits of being a Thane, and after being caught stealing a second time I opted to pay off the bounty so I wouldn't lose level progress. Unfortunately, I forgot that it deprives you of all your stolen goods, and the rare book from Farengar's desk (I am trying to collect every weapon, book and clothing item in the game) was taken from me. Is it going to respawn on his desk at some point, seeing as it can only be found here, or will I have to reload a past save from before the incident? I really should've put it in the bookshelf. <_<
  15. Great to see that all the effort Ham put into the survey is being appreciated.

Today ends a mixed year for me.
  17. I am still undecided about seeing this. On the back of your review, would you say it's best to wait for it on dvd?
  18. He's just a big spider. It respawns, even. Hit him a bunch. I'll be sure to kill it. :shades: I believe in you Killed it. Very easy, was pleasantly surprised.
  19. Especially if you're not sure you're at the right place. This, but when you're not at the right place.

A very good French film (in terms of entertainment value) is Les Triplettes de Belleville.
  22. Is it just me who finds the wanting to burn your ears a little strange? :ohnoes:

@ Duff: I see what you mean. That's how I used to have them as a child. ;)
  24. Anyone here killed Nihme in Markarth? Any tips before I do so when I get home?
