  1. True but round figures are nice and everyone knows what you mean when you call it $5
  2. Simple. Just don't log into it. That doesn't really serve any purpose. I think Lioness was rather getting at would you be able to pay for just 07; and I have to say from the initial news post it sounds unlikely. The membership fees mentioned are talked of as 'additional fees' this kind of implies 07scape will be an add-on to normal membership. Eg (for the $15 tier we are currently in) You would have to pay $15 for 07scape BUT this option would only be open to rs members meaning you'd have to of paid the $5 anyway for a total of $20 to play 07scape. The way it was worded it appears to be: Tier 1 - $5 Rs membs + $15 07scape fee to play 07scape Tier 2 - $5 rs membs + $5 07scape fee to play Tier 3 - $5 rs membs to play Tier 4 - $5 rs membs to access members content on 07scape, but f2p world exists same as main rs. So the way the vote is going atm it seems $20 - $10 total cost per month if you wanna play 07scape, regardless of your interest in main rs
  3. Html5 should put less drain on computers as it ought to be less cpu intensive, particularly good for laptops, older systems and macs where java can be big drain. Should also allow for general upscaling of graphics eg the basic level should be nearer to current max level.
  4. This other than I'd advise Ranged ammy over fury for ranged if you dont wanna splash the mils for the minor boosting of the sara one

  6. I wouldn't be so sure mathematical projections from 1am put the current voting rate curve at 140k votes by the end of the 14 days so as it stands even 250k seems like it's gonna be a stretch to hit.

I mean even with the American peak time hour 14-21 got less total votes that hour 1. I'd aslo agree with above weekend spurt seems unlikely since to most the actual 'usable' weekend is leaving off time friday (so like 3-6pm depending) through to early-ish night sunday ready for monday (so like 9-11pm), which would imply most 'weekend players' have a likely already been on. Edit: Added hour 22
  8. 9. You've still got quite a few time zones worth of Americans (As in, North/South America, not just the States) to go. True but I'd of thought by this point with America starting to get on more the vote decline would've at least marginally reversed to maybe +0.5k or so.
  10. Hour 1 - 14k Hour 2 - 27k (+13k -1k) Hour 3 - 36k (+9k -4k) Hour 4 - 44k (+8k -1k) Hour 5 - 52k (+8k =) Hour 6 - 59.4k (+7.4k -0.6k) Hour 7 - 66.2k (+6.8k - 0.6k) Hour 8 - 73k (+6.8k =) Hour 9 - 79.5k (+6.5k -0.3k) Interesting how thus far coming into start of peak time hasn't actually reversed vote decline, only seems to of flat-lined it.
  11. The thing is for an mmorpg gameplay is 50% game content 50% community. So even talk of 'gameplay' is suspect the issue of nostalgia of a community that is gone. And of course having a full wildy and duel arena is entirely possible now in live game - it's only not there because the community died out.
  12. Hour 1 - 14k Hour 2 - 27k (+13k -1k) Hour 3 - 36k (+9k -4k) Hour 4 - 44k (+8k -1k) Hour 5 - 52k (+8k =) Hour 6 - 59.4k (+7.4k -0.6k) Hour 7 - 66.2k (+6.8k - 0.6k) Hour 8 - 73k (+6.8k =)
  13. Its an issue because a fair portion of people who have given reasons for wanting it have in various ways glossed over flaws and in, the more relavant issue, marked things that entirely depend on community as reasons for wanting it back (eg pking, staking, people did this, people didn't do that etc.). Anything that depends upon a community deceased 5 years ago as a reason is nostalgic because regardless of the game being back it won't magically reform that community - it'll be the community we have now in a older game.
  14. Nostalgia failed then and it will fail now. The big difference is that nobody was really obsessed over RSC(on a large scale), it was pretty much a general improvement from RSC->RS2. The difference here is that people have put 2007 on a pedestal and think of it as the holy grail of Runescape.(As for many of us, 2004-2008 was probably the most fun we've had on the game) But the thing is that it was mostly fun because of the people we met and that everything was so new and exciting, NOT entirely because of the mechanics, which I think people will realize after the vote.. but for now the votes will keep pouring in lol A lot of people WERE obsessed over RSC vs RS2. There was probably an equal if not larger portion of the community hating rs2 and wanting rsc to stay back then than there was for 07scape now. It is a near identical situation - portion of players putting it on a pedestal and wanting it to continue under insistance it will do well and be worth it. If anything RSC had a better chance as it was immediate nostalgia for a community and game that still existed a matter of days/weeks after the change compared to a the 5 year divorce between current and 07 that means the community nostalgia recalls is basically gone.
  15. Ah delusional hope. I'm betting it falls short or maybe hits the 250k mark. Mmm with the rate of decline in votes thus far (combined with them being fairly slow to begin with) I'd estimate 250k is gonna be the final result at a stretch. But of course the next few hours will be critical as peak playtime ensues. I mean even assuming it'll hit the peak (14k an hour) again then resumes decline at similar pace the rate its going it would theoretically hit 0 well under 24 hours. (from the peak)
  16. Peak time for America is not for another 4 hours. Peak time for RS as whole however is now beginning as the evening UKers + the beginnings of US afternoon means player numbers are going up.
  17. Hour 1 - 14k Hour 2 - 27k (+13k -1k) Hour 3 - 36k (+9k -4k) Hour 4 - 44k (+8k -1k) Hour 5 - 52k (+8k =) Hour 6 - 59.4k (+7.4k -0.6k) Hour 7 - 66.2k (+6.8k - 0.6k) Now peak time is hitting decline seems to of slowed.
  18. I don't get why everyone thinks all the USA hasn't voted yet. I live in the middle of Canada (see basically middle of the USA) and I saw it this morning before work/school. We don't think none of them have voted; it's just a standard known fact of play times. The peak play time for any given country is in the evening, for RS this means it starts around 6-7pm GMT as UK gets on enmass and trails on through to 3-4am when the USA hits evening. It's not impossible for players to be on out of "normal" times but peak playtimes would suggest the bulk of US players have yet to get on to vote.
  19. You have to consider though vote rates will not be steady, in fact they even now are falling hour upon hour, give it 48-72 hours and they will probably be coming in quite slowly. Here's why those ridiculous assumptions are made: Those people who quit because of EoC went to play private servers. Of course they will come back for 2007scape. Still quite ridiculous: Quitting because of Eoc and 07scape are very different entities with a whole 5 years of content difference. Many who quit to private servers prefer them due to cheats. Many who quit did so due to lack of faith in Jagex, why would they come back? Many won't quit a free private server for a paid for 07scape. etc. Thats not to say none would come back, just the assumption that all of them or even the majority of them will is rather a stretch.
  20. Around 13:00 I think. For reference: 14k votes at 14:00 27k at 15:00 36k at 16:00 44k at 17:00 Seems the initial peak has already been and gone, though of course it will probably pick up a bit again in a few hours due to US voters, but at this rate it seems vote rates are gonna bottom up well under 24h mark Hour 1 - 14k votes Hour 2 - 13k votes Hour 3 - 9k votes Hour 4 - 8k votes
  21. It's idiocy to assume that if you send them more money then the game will improve. They allocate the money you send them as they see fit not as you want it. You simply pay for the terms of service. If anything, they have done a great job of pissing it away on failed games, games that never come out, idiotic marketing, and bloated staff in cushy offices making music videos and partying all day. They've also reinvested more money than they made in profits to double the size of the Runescape team to allow them to bring high quality content more frequently (eg the much higher quality on quests)
  22. A factor that will be interesting: Really if everyone voted logically they ought to ONLY vote when it is close to or in the threshold region they would actually play, but of course inevitably they all spam vote now. So even if it does pass 50k and got no further odds are only maybe 10% if your lucky will actually be willing to pay the price for that tier.
  23. Mainly because there aren't any bots scrapping the highscores to throw in names to vote with, which happened during the free trade vote :P I did mean the later vote, not that first ridiculous farce which was less a vote and more a test in how well people can code bots to trawl hiscores for names that haven't 'voted'.
  24. I have to say thus far the numbers are rising quite slowly when compared to things like the free trade vote. Be interesting to see where it is at by midnight to then extrapolate an estimate of where it will be 13 days later when it shuts.
  25. I find the tip.it poll results quite interesting thus far. A whole 80% either wouldn't play or would only play it if it came at no extra cost compared to only 20% willing to pay for it. Also quite interesting as the tip.it poll is worded around 'would you play' rather than 'do you want it'
