  1. Given the context where it is a binary of supporters vs people who do not support or do not care making it 20% minority vs 80% majority I would call 20% a small minority. Certainly in a more complex system where the majority might only be 40% whilst assorted minorities make up the remaining 60% a 20% minority would be quite large; but again it is all a matter of context and in this case it is still a small minority compared to the majority.
  2. Your saying the same shit you said before. It's been proven wrong. IF you need more evidence go to Runescape.com forums and search the hundreds of threads who pointed this out point blankly. Now prove to me there are 750k members. It has not been proven wrong by any means, no-one has shown any imperial, verified evidence; just because whiney people scream and shout on the rsof and insist the number they pulled from thin air for the amount of bots is true does not make it a verified fact. I'm sure with a bit of coercion one could convince most of active tip.it users and staff to insist that bats dropped dragon chains, but it wouldn't be 'proof' or a 'fact' just because we all said it. It is a fact that on the highscores the very obvious trial accounts end at around 780k It is also a fact that to be on highscores one must be a member. Therefore there is no logical conclusion other than there being in the ball park of 780k accounts with membership. Certainly some a likely to be bots and such, but seeing as we have no hard data on the numbers of such we cannot prove what proportion there is and their being bots does not invalidate the fact that their account has members. Therefore the farthest we can take proof on this matter is that around 780k accounts with membership do exist.
  3. Well on the hiscores the lvl 34 accounts we can safely assume are trialies run out at around about 780k, so it is safe to say they are in the ball park 780k accounts with membership with a margin of maybe 5k or so for recent unsubscribers yet to be removed. And yes given the size of the runescape member base 150k is a small minority, a large minority would be a minority only marginally smaller than the majority, which given Jagex's statistics of 1.8m active accounts 150k is nowhere near.
  4. Ah I mis-read, my bad, but still never hurts to clarify matters.
  5. Because it obviously sounded like a good idea for Jagex, and maybe this minority isn't so small after all. Yeah they are so not a small minority look how out of the 1.8mil or w/e it is active accounts jagex said they have the vote its flatlining below 200k! They are clearly a massive majority like those 3 people I saw in the park on saturday saying the world when end when your trex overlords rise next week are clearly speaking for the majority of humanity in general; cause you know 3 people its a majority of the 8 billion. Firstly, hasn't it already been accepted that there aren't 1.8 million paying members? Don't the highscores consist of many trial accounts and bots? Secondly, way to take things out of context, because I was clearly saying that those who want the 07scape are the "massive majority". No, I said they are "not a small minority". 150k people have already voted. 150,000 individuals is not a small number of people to be playing one game. Again... 150,000 people! And that is from paying members. Who are the people paying members? Those who enjoy runescape as it is now.; those who aren't as likely to enjoy the idea of 07scape. Part of the reason of 07scape is to bring back the people who have lost interest in the main RS... like me! I wasn't part of the majority or minority who were asking Jagex for one thing or another. I came when I heard about the vote. This "minority" which you think aren't valuable to Jagex have already started to bring back many retired players. Why is this even a matter of debate? It is only win-win. If people don't care about it why are they spending time arguing against something that doesn't impact them? The size of a minority or majority is relative to the whole. In the context of runescape 150k is still a small minority. Also I'd note no-one is actually arguing against it at this point, people are only 'arguing' (if we must use the term) against people making wild unsubstantiated claims be it tekno's delusional 'proof' of member numbers or people insisting it should be cheaper without reaching the threshold set without considering the costs required to run something like this. Or most specifically many are arguing against the notion that we should all vote anyway to 'help out others' which many supporters insist upon, seeing as the vote is to gauge interest in playing so those of us with no intent to play certainly should not be voting to falsify the numbers and potential cause Jagex to launch it a threshold which is not financially viable which would in fact hurt the live game somewhat due to the lose inccured

  7. That is covered in this part you didn't manage to read: If you build a 10 point upgrade first, you can build one of the other two options to get an additional 10 points for a total of 2 upgrades and 20 points. I was asking to double check that it did indeed mean not building the 10 pointers first meant you would end up stuck with less points overal, considering the sentence you claim I didn't read is the only part that infers this it is quite clear that I did read it.
  8. So are you saying if you don't build sinister bar, cutthroat lodgings or warship shipwright before other max options its impossible to get the max port score achievable?
  9. mmm I've never agreed with equating time to difficulty, just cause it takes longer doesn't make in intrinsically harder.
  10. It does use the cache but it relies on device information stored within the cache as well otherwise one could simply copy someone else's cache and thereby have a 'hacked' JAG authorisation for their account on any system they liked. I'll admit I dunno exactly what info this would be but mac address seems to most likely candidate.
  11. Probably because when discussion html5 Jagex have specifically said it allows them to make significant performance improvements... Of course (as I said before) this isn't entirely because of html5 it's more to do with the optimisation opportunities a full engine rewrite affords them particularly relating to cluttered code that can be combined and older code than has better alternatives.
  12. Yeah its been pretty much covered, but to reiterate. Armour falls into 4 classes 1) Melee 2) Mage 3) Ranged 4) Classless 4 is quite rare aside from void and thus usually doesn't offer optimum 1-3 offer defence based upon their class. They will offer awesome defence to what their class is strong against, ok defence again the same class and poor defence to the weak class. eg Melee class gives poor mage defence, ok melee defence and great ranged defence. Further to this most of the armour slots can impact accuracy in so much as using a weapon of a class differing from the armour gives accuracy penalties. Therefore, within the tier of armours you are looking at, if meleeing use Bandos, if ranging using Armadyl, if maging use Subjugation; but also beware in the eoc you shouldn't be a one trick pony - you should change style according to the monsters weakness.
  13. They do have overnight staff for customer service and community management (twitter etc) but its a much smaller team than the day staff and likely takes on a universal role opposed to the specific day teams.
  14. THAT is annoying as heck. I really hope it gets fixed with the shift to HTML5 Damn, I thought there was something specifically wrong with my laptop that was making this happen, didn't know it was a problem with the game. Definitely something that needs to be fixed ASAP. It's not really a 'problem' (in the sense of something for devs to deal with) it is just an unavoidable behaviour of java applets.
  15. Don't think this is right either, several pages back when the counts were started hour 1 was taken at 1400 GMT because the poll had opened round about 1300 GMT eg as of posting this we are at 47 hours and 55 minutes.
  16. JAG does NOT rely on IP address, it uses other data that never changes (eg mac address). The fact every ISP under the sun is dynamic ip by default + the fact all devices on 1 network share the same external ip means using ip would be ridiculous and is easily proved false by the fact 2 devices in same house needed separate verification. If its not remembering your device and jag answers are wrong it suggest the device has been deleted from your account and either you mis-remembered your answers or someone has hacked and had Jagex change them.
  17. They don't use a hard damage stat because that is NOT what crit is and a hard damage bonus would be much weaker than crit attacks. Critical hits on abilities do 25% more damage. On autoattacks they do 75-125% of max hit. Crit stat is the % boost to chance of doing a crit attack.
  18. I feel I ought to clarify since several people have said it now: The mathematical projections are nothing to do with me, whilst I understand the principle behind them I am nowhere near good enough with statistics etc. to transform the raw data into the necessary voting curve. The only connection I have to it is that many people have used my hour by hour data from the first 13 hours + a few hours leading up to hour 24. Btw if anyone wants to attempt a more accurate projection try this: http://www.misplaceditems.com/2007scape.php?table=true Left side has got mostly 5 minute interval scrapes and right has got some hourlys which rough start at my hour 6, with equiv of my hour 7 having first full data (eg a measure of change) using this plus my initial data you got stats for the entire vote so far.
  19. Just taking a list to a PC shop guy isn't likely to work out as what they can/will build tends to be subject to what brands they stock. Also hard to price that way since they would likely charge more for the parts than you can find online & have labour costs too. In all honesty the building is the easy bit, motherboards come with manuals and maps that tell you exactly what each header and slot is for with that it's a breeze to put together. I mean cpu, power, graphics and ram slots are all pretty self explanatory. Then the power and data ports of harddrives and discs drives are pretty simple and the sata points on a motherboard are easy to spot. The most complex bit is putting the fans and power buttons and leds onto the correct header pins and even that is quite easy with the map. The hard part is picking out hardware that will work together.
  20. I will now prove to you how much trialists are on the Highscores: Searching in "overall" comes up with 1.8million members. Surprising right? Well, read on. About 1 MILLION of these member accounts are a mere level 34 total, meaning, you guessed it, bots. But how can there be 1 million bots that haven't even trained, you may ask? Well, even an account that is a "member" from the 2 week trial appears on the high scores. So this clearly skews results gained from the highscores terribly. Leaving about 800K "members" to vote, you have to wonder how many of these are on their 2 week trial as well? How many are simply bots? So we have fewer than 800k paying members. But that includes all members that are on 2-week free memberships, many of which are low level bots. Down to 700k to 750k. And that includes all the players who have dropped membership in the last 2 to 8 weeks and banned bots since Jagex doesn't immediately remove free players. Maybe 600k to 650k members who are still paid up. (And more this week as free members sign up for membership.) But of those 50k to 100k are goldfarmer bots. They won't vote at all unless the goldfarmers write a script for them. Maybe 550k to 600k human paying members. Seeing all this evidence, it becomes quite clear that even achieving 500k votes would be a thing of wonder. Why? Lack of members. I do believe we will get 300k votes by the end of 2 weeks. Majority. You do realise none of that actually 'proves' anything and nor is it 'evidence' because it is entirely based on your unfounded assumptions of how many are bots, trials and expired with no factually verified statistics behind it. Not to mention latest mathematically projections from current vote data put final tally at 207k, nowhere near your 300k assertion.
  21. Superior has better stats, is untradable and can be repaired compared to the lesser tradable set with lower stats and 1 time use.
  22. Html5 should ease cpu demands simply due to not requiring the external java to runa as well, plus the fact that html5 is a more modern streamlined code means it can handle certain functions better than java can which again allows for optimisation in the back-end that translate to great performance for the user. I mean yes java not running in a high end system will be almost un-noticeable but for lower end systems it will have a performance impact, but that aside you are taking the very narrow view of the exact same thing running in html 5 vs java which is of course practically identical. When talking of the html5 engine we known Jagex have remade the entire thing utilising new options given by html5 vs java to optimise things, not to mention the natural process of rewriting allows them to optimise older code from years of build up. So whilst html5 in of itself does not mean better performance for RS the engine being rebuilt and optimised into html5 does mean we should see improvements to performance.
  23. Much earlier on the in the thread someone took the vote data thus far and algorithm'd it to a curve that predicted 140k votes at the end, assuming the declining vote trend continued at same pace. Thats probably best prediction so far based on proper math but it really ought to be re-calced later today adding in another days worth of data to amend the curve based on more recent voting trend, but certainly thus far all the math seems to point to it missing the 250k mark
  24. According to the rumour mill (though I've seen no solid proof) Jmods have got graphs and stuff of rares and from this have calculated numbers of each rare to be put int 07scape by old school random drop events like pumpkins, crackers, disks of returning, half wines etc. It's either that or they have graphs of how many are in live game and just told players the numbers and rumour mill has changed it slightly.
  25. True but round figures are nice and everyone knows what you mean when you call it $5 Too be honest what I'd rather see is another legacy bump. Freeze everyone where they are add ~2-3$ for every new person there on out. Instead of addition costs specifically for 07 scape. God no. Why should new players have to pay extra to fund 07scape for nostalgic old skoolers? It's perfectly correct model to have people pay the extra if they wanna play 07scape, admittedly it would perhaps work better if it was separate opposed to an add-on; but definitely not outright charging all people extra to fund it. Also 118k comment it would be hour 3 day 2 so hour 27 overall.
