The trick is to not worry about getting too many things done too quickly. Just start by doing stuff you like, go at your own pace. A good place to start would be the good old gathering skills. Gather resources, process them to level up your production skills. Filtering your quest list and doing the ones you can do at your levels is something you could do as well, as long as you can obtain all of the items for them. Then, as you level up, you'll find that more and more quests/other content become accessible to you, so you can go and do those if you wish. Also, I highly recommend hoarding all the stuff you find as monster drops and from skilling. Every item has a value for DIYers, even if it's just for selling at a General Store for some extra money or something like that.
