So, after doing this: Which is in 6th/7th and included stupid mistakes (and absolute failure in VSR), I went back to Expert. My new guitar is definitely better for whammy... 10th/10th - Could get more, barely squeezed the last activation I had 2nd in this to Lo7, then APE went and got 1st on Wii, then glitched ticks were discovered. I dropped to 5th (though still 2nd on 360). Got back 2nd and could presumably get 1st, as I failed to tick squeeze the 4th activation and didn't get all of the available glitched ticks. About DWDTG: I haven't been working on it all that much, but the 868 notestreak was in Victory Solo - from the section before it starts into VSP. I have entirely lost consistency at the trill that separates the Devil Solos and Victory Solos, but my VSE consistency has gone up and VSR is randomly good or bad. I still can and plan to FC this at some point, but it will definitely take some work. A lot of work.

And more 1sts! Entire Coldplay Pack (I won't be uploading Violet Hill to SH because of a long-term goal that involves not uploading songs that have low maximum scores...) I tried for upperbound my first FC, failed to get it, then won the 1st by plenty of ticks[/hide][hide=Violet Hill] This is a tie. :([/hide][hide=God Put A Smile Upon Your Face] Ticks again, pretty easy...[/hide] [hide=Jukebox Hero] Another score I won't be uploading... this is a tie with chemmajr, who is best known for being excellent at squeezing the Medium difficulty. So I bought a new guitar at Circuit City ($28, pretty good deal) and it's absolutely perfect... except that it activates if I even nudge it upwards. Earlier I merely sat up a bit straighter and SP activated. Even with this challenge, I got 6 more GH3H DLC 1sts: [hide=Pretty Handsome Awkward] The guitar activated immediately on the last activation on a run that had 5 more ticks >_> Proof that there's a crapload left in this song.[/hide][hide=No More Sorrow] I think another 400 might be possible, but this is pretty nice[/hide][hide=Sleeping Giant] Actually the first 1st I got today... only after getting this did I realize I could've used the 80% path and gotten around 100 more points... I may redux for them.[/hide][hide=Peace of Mind] BA's comment on his (now 2nd) 1st asked if anyone had actually tried to squeeze the song. How could I pass that up?[/hide][hide=I Predict A Riot] There's still plenty left in this song. Plenty.[/hide][hide=Exo-Politics] Possibly the easiest optimal in all of the Hard Difficulty...[/hide] So yeah. Also, Lemon and I have been looking over a number of tma's paths and found some points that are technically possible in some random songs. In most cases they would be truly epic squeezes, but we'll see what comes of them.

I haven't even touched the game since whenever I uploaded my For the Love of God score to Scorehero.... I didn't exactly lose motivation, I just... I don't know. Life has been semi-busy (though I'm constantly reminded by a friend that I 'sit around and do nothing' all day :/) and I guess I'm on a small break... Currently debating whether or not to buy a new Xbox (Arcade, I already have 2 hard drives and don't need to waste money on another one) that has a HDMI port so that I can use it with my beautiful new monitor. On the plus side, I would get to donate my old one to my youth group, where it would be enjoyed by my friends... the main drawback is that it's $250 (have to include the price of the HDMI cable, after all).

You did indeed tell me that ;) Sadly this is only DLC, which has far less competition (read: BA and Lemon don't actively try for it), so the 1sts aren't as meaningful in the broad scheme of things. Happily, I like DLC much more than the on-disc stuff, so the 1sts are more meaningful to me personally. Your timing with the question of TDWDTG is quite a good coincidence - today I finally got a VSR FC in practice, as well as a new high score of 666,802 (-41 notes) - that run also lost one SP activation to my stupidity, so I can improve. Right now my main problems are measure 67 (the triplets at the end of Devil Solo B - even though I've always been pretty good at triplets, something about these just messes me up badly), measure 101 (trill at Chorus 1, I can tap it, but my fingers just don't like cooperating with me there), measure 134 (VSE SP phrase - I can do it perfectly fine, but in the middle of a run, I'm likely to screw it up), and VSR (while I have the FC now, I'm still not consistent at fully FCing the section). In other words, besides stupid mistakes (which I make often), I have only four major choke points, each of which can be solved with practice. I'm setting a goal of a FC by Feb. 13 (after the 666k on the Devil song, a Friday the 13th FC is the only thing better), but it seems unlikely to happen that quickly. We'll see. The FC is definitely within reach, though... the -41 run included misses in the Bridge at the beginning of the song (my LP was double-strumming in it and I was trying to compensate for it >_>) and in the strumming in Devil Solo G (just stupidity there, my LP was being nice after the Bridge) Just a minor ironic note: I can only barely do the DSA trill (14 NPS) with my middle finger, but I can hit the Impulse m102 trill (13.3 NPS) *consistently* with my pinky, and can trill fast enough to get a combo in Raining Blood's 20.3 NPS YB trill with my ring finger. Why is my middle finger so bad at this? :( Walls of text are fun! Very nice job on your Scream Aim Fire FC, as well as your Bass Global 1st - I looked at your scores one day when you had only around 30-40 put in, then a few days later I looked again, and there you were with PS2 1sts on every song, global 1sts on a number of them, and 1st on the instrument itself. Amazing job :D

Twas depressing that a full pack 1st was not worth a single comment, so here's two packs and a random extra song (all on Hard still... Because a single DLC 1st isn't enough to get anyone to care, have a full pack of 1sts! JIHKY was a tie, though I *think* it might be possible to get another squeeze and get that 1st all for myself. Other two were won by ticks (+56 on FFN, +16 on FB) Going for the No Doubt Pack next, just because a friend from SH suggested it...

Thinking about trying to claim first on GH3H DLC without even submitting scores on all the songs - I do believe it is quite possible. We'll see. Just saw Defiance yesterday and I personally thought it was an amazing movie. One of the few movies I have ever come out of really feeling like it had been an exceptional movie.

Before reading my wall of text, some recent GH news: McSkinny took first on GH1 today by FCing Bark at the Moon and getting 1st on it. Undead became the first person to break 24.8m on GH3 by getting ticks on Kool Thing. Phenom FCed One, becoming the first person to FC all of GH3 INCLUDING downloadable content. On the topic of Phenom's massive spread in DLC, I've outsqueezed Phenom on most songs that I've FCed (almost every time that I've failed to do so, the FC is from before I started squeezing). I still can't strum the right speed in that stupid strumming section. Antisocial FC (2nd/2nd) - 408,934 - I dropped a hold and missed two squeezes that I have hit before in this, but I choked a ton so I didn't try for a redux Suck My Kiss ReFC (9th/15th) - 265,183 - Missed the last squeeze, didn't attempt the second. Annoying song. Close ReFC (86th/131st) - 277,558 - LIEK TEH PMG I GOTZ 4 MOAR POINTZ!! I hate playing this song. Slither non-FC (28th/29th) - 329,540 - I FCed my choke points in practice so many times, but I got tired of screwing up in real runs. This was most likely a -2. I can and will FC later (this is one of the songs that Phenom is beating me in!) Motorhead non-FC (9th/9th) - 400,594 - Whenever I finally FC this, it'll be a pretty good rank. I got at least 15 -1s today, all in different spots. I got tired of it. Excuse Me Mr. non-FC (41st/43rd) - 330,019 - I only played through this all the way once, didn't feel like trying anymore after that. Just another case of raising my rank Suicide & Redemption J.H. non-FC (24th/28th) - 698,750 - MY GUITAR DOUBLESTRUMMED SO MANY FREAKING TIMES >_> this would have been a FC if my guitar weren't being stupid The Judas Kiss non-FC (25th/25th) - 667,578 - Did one run before stopping for today just to improve the score. Doublestrums ruined a few things, stupidity a few more things, and inability to strum accurately at about 20 NPS didn't help much either. I can technically FC this, as I can strum that fast. All in all, I am now within 100k points of taking 5th for overall (already have 5th on 360) and within 200k of taking 4th for 360/overall with plenty of points just lying around waiting to be taken in a number of songs. With all that said, I need sleep. I intend to keep working on the songs that I am ranked lowly on (though I'm focusing mainly on DLC first, ignoring career songs). My current lowest global rank on any DLC song is 195th on Tom Morello Guitar Battle, lowest on career being 412th on Number of the Beast. I will almost definitely never buy it. However, I might be able to borrow a friend's copy to get some scores in. Only major thing today was a Stay Clean FC (another easy song that I should've FCed ages ago) 2nd place for 360 and Global, score of 298,734.

3 New FCs that I should've had LOOOOOOOOONG ago: Halo Theme (11th) - 183,352 (screwed up final activation) Shoot the Runner (7th/7th) - 178,812 (I BUTCHERED the last activation... didn't whammy half the held notes and activated extremely late) Problems (Live At Brixton) (4th/4th) - 624,629 (This song can go die... it's so freaking long and strummy, all while sounding horrible) 1 ReFC for better score: Nine Lives (5th/5th) - 241,756 (didn't try for ticks... barely missed the squeeze that no one has hit so far) I also improved my Putting Holes in Happiness score, up to 296,162. I should REALLY have the FC by now, as the song is basically repeating two different patterns over and over again with literally no variation, but I always manage to slip up *somewhere* (usually in the middle of SP >_>) Yay random DLC stuff!

I believe the Dream On is only a valid offer if you already downloaded it (I was able to successfully redownload it from the link DarkDude provided). And wild goat, while learning to shift is excellent, learning to stretch and shift will always be superior. The more flexibility you have, the better it is (especially for fast zigzags of GRYOYRG and the like - no shifting necessary if you can stretch). To answer Ginger's question, I'm just under 6'1".

I haven't played much since Christmas (when I posted all those top 10s), but I have done some stuff. I haven't kept my camera out by the Xbox lately, though, so a few of these come without pics :( First, all the non-pic updates (which are all DLC): Tom Morello Guitar Battle (DLC) - 324,228 I could do significantly better with some practice... I lost a lot of points by not figuring out the strumming speed of the end fast part until the very end of the section >_> My Apocalypse - 435,793 I did pretty well on the first 686 notes of this song (that being my notestreak...) but on the second half of it, I just completely died. There is plenty of room for improvement here. S&R KH - 703,391 The fact that a nonFC of a song this easy to FC is 10th is scary... I made stupid mistakes in the solo and didn't feel like fixing it because the song really isn't that interesting. I was doing the zigzags too quickly :( Top Gun Anthem - 218,351 Only FC of these non-pic updates >_< I did one activation early and didn't tick squeeze at all, so this is only 13th... And now pic updates! [hide=Welcome to the Jungle (8th/10th)] This was in fact 7th/9th when I first got it. This includes all the points that are commonly assumed to be available in the song, it just has horrible ticking. I personally believe 200 more points could be squeezed in, but it would basically have to be perfect execution.[/hide][hide=Kool Thing (5th/6th)] I already had 5th on Xbox for this, but I wanted the extra squeeze. I could technically FC this, as I can strum fast enough, but I'm not sure if I have the patience to play the entire song just to constantly choke at the end.[/hide][hide=Go That Far (10th/17th)] I had a pretty bad rank on this, so I improved the score. Missed 200 in the last activation, and will eventually go for it, but I don't like this song. At all.[/hide] I'll probably start playing a bit more, but my DLC freezing issue is definitely data corruption (I got a new hard drive for Christmas and tested with a friend's GH disc who does not have a problem with DLC), and I can't correct that because Dream On and the Dropkick Murphy pack is not redownloadable :(

If you're like the average expert player, you shift more than you stretch. A topic on SH a while ago revealed that a LARGE amount of the higher level players play almost entirely in 2nd position (index on Red, pinky on Orange), and shift for green. This is mostly because people don't like having their pinky deal with 2 notes - the index finger is far better for dealing with that. I personally have noticed that I will naturally shift to 2nd position for certain sections of songs (when it's not required - obviously I shift if the section requires frequent use of the orange and no greens), but I feel it's better to be able to play from any position than dedicating yourself to one position. Anyways, as I just woke up (yes, at around 2 PM - my sleep schedule is shot thanks to the holidays), this post is probably incoherent rambling. The point is that you'll have to learn to shift, as stretching won't be enough when you get to songs with much greater use of the orange fret.

Everyone who has been saying 2^32 - 1 is correct. 2^31 (the highest positive number permitted in Jagex's exp code - yes, they do have negatives on the other end too) is 2,147,483,647. Because they must deal with tenths of experience, the exp limit is in fact 214,748,364.7 experience. They simply decided to have a nice round number rather than dealing with an amount would consider obscure. This was explained by a jmod somewhere some very long time ago. Yay.

Too lazy to upload pics, but 287,194 When You Were Young (8 points from 1st) and 308,491 Rock You Like A Hurricane (also 8 points from 1st) yesterday and today. I thought the last squeeze in RYLAH would be horrible and evil, but I got it on the first run that I actually tried it on :s (FCed it twice today, the first FC I activated early on it because I didn't want to risk anything) I forgot to submit scores for leagues last week >_> Annoyingly, I would've had some exceptionally good placings on most songs. These are two of the songs for this week, now I just need to work on Pride and Joy (can now hit the first squeeze with some consistency) and Cherub Rock (have only hit the 1st squeeze once, all others aren't that hard). Then there's "Old School" All Games, where I have to work on My Name is Jonas (Yay difficult squeezing >_>) and then I get to actually play the other games!

I had hit the 'difficult' squeezes and managed to miss a blue hammer-on because I pressed yellow instead... yay stupid stuff.
