An elected official, you said it yourself is the Queen elected? No, therefore her very position is undemocratic. She has reserve powers which give her alot of power, you can argue they are cermonial and perhaps it seems that way but she still has alot of power. Parabola please don't accuse me of ignorance when you have failed to reply to two of my points: Would you be happy if the Queen was elected but still had all the royal trappings?

Cheers for that article Bubs, I'm still thinking about getting a degree in the UK then doing a post-doc in the US, or a placement course or something. It probably wouldn't be a formal placement year, more of a tag on at the end of my degree, which might be four years anyway.

Yeah, cos that current queen, she's always having people's heads knocked off, am I right? That's a stupid statement, just because there were brutal monarchs in the past (there were also very good ones) that doesn't mean the current monarch who doesn't have that kind of power should be removed for those reasons. It's an important ceremonial position, like it or not. Even if countires don't have a monarchy, they often have a similar kind of position that goes to an elected official who acts as a kind of travelling ambassador. I'd say the Queen was a lot better than that.

Well they may not be 'cool' but they get millions tuning in to watch their shows :P I totally agree with you on the individualism and respect issue however it's a problem when your individualism causes you to lose respect. So now homosexuals can't have a public profile because they're popularising homosexuality? So what? XplsvBam, do actually have an issue with homosexual people or just the idea of it? i visited a few...let me tell you this: they are the by far the most boring people i have ever seen in my life....they don't like to try new things, and a lot of people bought their way in. sure the educational benefit would be good, but i went to Yale and it sucked [wagon]. Penn was good though oh...and NEVER let money get in the way...it's not THAT bad Yeah and that i'd probably hate all the snobbish, stuck up, preppy trust fund boys. Good call.

I want to repeat his question. Are they actually still inbred? How have they no succumb to genetic diseases? They actually have haemophilia running through a lot of the family, which was most likely given to Queen Victoria towards the end of her reign by an alien werewolf

and i bet without religion the world would be in a worse state than it currently is...but let's not go there My point was to all those people who thought homosexuality was intuitively "alright" even if it wasn't for them, but then their religion goes and tells them otherwise, trust your conscience. It wasn't actually a snide dig at religion. What kind of point was that? The whole point of homosexuality is that they don't want to be heterosexuals. The only reason they would is because society often looks down on them.

I bet without religion most people would agree homosexuals are fine and have just as much right to their preference as anyone, and they would let them be.
