Actually... there is stuff that can escape the grasp of the black hole, but its not matter. Its anti matter. It is known that at some points in time, some matter just comes into existence, and with it, some anti matter. Now if this happens near a black hole, a certain effect starts to happen. The matter does go into the hole, but the anti matter comes out of the hole. This gives it the effect of radiation. That's not quite right. You got the general jist though which is that matter can escape from black holes through quantum tunnelling. I know it's lazy, but to save me explaining it all again i'll just copy the relevant section from that project I did on black holes last year:

I try not to be superstitious, and generally don't believe in all the "x years bad luck" for doing something. I do have incredible feelings of deja vu though all the time, and i'd love to know why.

from what i know about black-holes that is basicly what is suppose to happen, on a side note, i've just read some stuff that when two galaxys colliod with each other, the center of each galaxy suppluy have gaint black-holes in the center, and then the finally step of the two galaxys collioding is the the black-holes merrging together? any thoughts on this? I think I've read something similar. I can't remember the specifics but I think if the black holes are large enough and the collision violent enough then a lot of the stars within the galaxy will be blown off into space.

First off, I didn't deal with the reporting of this thread so it wasn't my call over whether or not it was locked. But since you're not the OP you can't request it being locked anyway. Secondly, I think if you'd read what I said (for a change) you'd find that I didn't once mention that other topic which you seem so sensitive about, only in passing as reference to your previous behaviour. It's not so much that I dislike you picking holes in other people's arguments (annoying that it may be if you're single-mindedly persistent), it's the fact that you questioned whether or not magekillr was a student at all at VT and attacked him on that basis. :shock: From What ive been reading from your posts.....you know way to much about science...thats not a bad thing though...kodous to you! Yeah, I'd like to think I knew a lot :P Well physics is my first love and I did happen to read a good book on black holes and write a lengthy project on them, which is why I know more than average. Most other areas of physics fascinate me. Biology wise (I see you're doing AS?) evolution fascinates me, but other than that I haven't really read beyond the GCSE syllabus. And chemistry is so-so. Damn, i'm cool. Anyway I've rechecked the book, and yeah they do just merge to form a single black hole radiating their deformities away as gravitational waves. What causes them to spiral in together in the first place is the "kick" (like firing a bullet from a gun) of the gravitational waves leaving the black holes. Interestingly, it is not possible to determine anything about the hole's history from it. You can't tell what formed it, matter, antimatter, one star, two stars or even three.

Neither would "fall" into the other. What would happen (and is very possible) is that two black holes that are orbiting each other slowly come closer together in their orbits, and eventually merge together into a single, larger black hole. Any deformities in the black hole would be radiated away as gravitational waves, which is what scientists are currently searching for at the moment. I'll check up on it though, I read about it a while ago, I don't know if all the specifics are right. Not as exciting I know :P

Depends what kind of workout your doing. If you're properly lifting weights you shouldn't really work any muscle group more than once a week and have a full days rest in between workouts.

Haha, yeah I wish we had that kind of quality imagery of black holes. The best way to observe them is through their effects. If there's two stars orbiting each other (a binary pair) and one is a black hole, the hot gases spewed off the actual star with get pulled towards the black hole, whipped round it at massive speeds then they collide on the other side at a shock front, producing large amounts of X-rays. Quasars are thought to be powered by black holes as well as massive extragalactic jets.

Sit ups are overrated, especially massive numbers of them. If you wanted big biceps would you do 200 bicep curls with a low weight? No way. If you really want a six pack, do weighted ab exercies. Crunches with a weight on your chest, crunches on a swiss ball, crunches with the tricep pulldown cable etc. Do a weight where you can do about 2-3 sets of 10-15 reps. Don't overdo it. Also, to make sure you don't have excess fat around the abs do plenty of cardio.

Anyway I'm not going to press it, I'll lay off the debate if you don't want to do it here. Edit: The part in bold in my previous post probably still applies, if you were aiming to debate creation and mircales with science, although you probably already know this. Well I wasn't specifically mentioning evolution, but I suppose that definitely has a part to play in it.
