I used to be in a lot of school plays when I was younger, but then I just seemed to drop out of the whole acting scene when I got older. I'm not sure why because I would have probably enjoyed it. I've had bit parts in various school things, and despite me being fairly introverted I really quite like public performances. I play the guitar as well, but hate playing that in front of people for some reason.

Band: The White Stripes Album: Icky Thump - I liked them before this, but never really "got into them", but I bought this album then went to see them live and I was hooked. In fact it was probably more the live show than anything :P Still favourite?: No, I think their debut album is better, but Icky Thump is still a cracker.

Tells much about the state of this forum that it was recurrected again. If you don't like celebrities, don't [bleep] follow their every move like some idiot who has got nothing better to do. Stop reading the tabloid magazines, stop watching that goddamn disney channel and celebrity channel if you hate it so much. Thats what I did and I don't even know the half of the celebs that you guys nominated. (Actually I never really was into that kind of stuff) Perhaps an unfair stereotype about teenage girls. I wouldn't take this thread so seriously, I think it's just a lighthearted stab at individuals in celebrity culture. I'd also watch out for the irony in you telling us to avoid the aspects you dislike of celebrity, then ranting about how you hate this thread on the thread.

I have a few close friends who I'd pretty much die for, then lots of friendships/acquintances that i'd be loyal to but not without good cause. It's just the way I am, I tend to have a few very close friends rather than a large friend circle, which makes it easier to be loyal I guess. I'd never "follow the crowd" to betray a friend though, since i'm naturally suspicious of that kind of thing.

Really? I quite like the options available, similar to NIN's Ghosts release. It seems they're catering for a fairly wide fan base, slightly coporate maybe, but more interesting than just a CD I think. I haven't heard anything off the album yet, but Rick Rubin's produced some good albums recently so this might be a return to form.

No no, i'd never use R.S. to teach morality. But I think it's important that no matter what your faith (or lack of in my case) you should learn about other people's. Like it or not, we live in a multifaith society and there are a lot of myths out there about various religions that should not be allowed to spread if the religions were studied. I think it's also important that R.S. lessons should be a vehicle for debating your religion (or lack of) with other people, and having your beliefs questioned and tested. Learning about mistakes made in the past is exceptionally important. History also teaches source based analysis, balanced arguments and weighing up the credibility of evidence. All these skills are essential. Geography seems like an excellent subject for touching on modern issues such as globalisation, third world development and climate change. But I agree I wouldn't consider it one of the more important subjects. Which is why I'd change the curriculum. You can't deny that IT skills are almost essential to most careers nowadays, the skills should be taught early and rigorously. I don't quite see your point here. Inevitably not everyone will enjoy every subject if they were made compulsory. But school isn't primarily about enjoyment, it's about learning and gaining the necessary skills. The subjects can be made interesting with a good curriculum and good teachers. In fact, i'd probably throw a basic economics course in there as well.

I think if I was in charge, I'd make quite a few subjects compulsory up to the age of 16. Probably english, maths, science, religious studies, history, geography and IT. In my mind, all these subjects encompass and teach either knowledge or skills which people should have when going out into the world. Of course this would have to be accompanied by a radical shake-up of the actual curriculum to make the subjects interesting and relevant but I don't think in principle this is undoable. Maybe it's too demanding of me, but I think all kids should have a thorough grounding in the basics before they apply themselves. Sure, you might be able to find a specific course at a younger level which is directly "relevant" to the job you want, but the subjects mentioned all contain skills which can easily be applied to any job.

I was going to get a day-ticket for the Sunday at Leeds (missed the camping tickets), but I think i'm actually away now anyway, and I need the money. Have a great time though, half my year at school seem to be going.

Once again, science, not doomsday prophets and politicians makes a step (however small) towards solving our energy needs.
