As issy said, empirically you can assign and quantify values to humans lives, but I agree from a moral perspective it's a slippery slope which is probably best not trodden.

It would take an utterly unimaginably large catastrophe to actually end us as a race. Perhaps a devastatingly large comet, or the Sun's eventual expansion. Everything else just seems like pest control.

Oh no? The point with McCain is that he's got in line with Bushes views on policies pretty much everytime, and since Bush was such a disaster people don't want a repeat. Regardless of Obama's voting record, he's different, which is what matters for the purpose of this argument.

It obviously makes good economic sense to offer free-refills, otherwise the places wouldn't do it, so the benefits more than outweigh the additional costs from people who drink a few litres worth, apparently for the hell of it.

And why can't it? read what warior wrote I did, what's your point? Of course you can't prove anything to an absolute degree, but you can be pretty damn sure about it. The scientific method encompasses the way the evidence for the Big Bang model was gathered and tested. Ergo, the scientific method has proved the Big Bang theory to a level almost beyond reasonable doubt.

I wish I was one of those people that could get by on very little sleep, but sadly I tend to need a good 7-8 hours. I can get by for a week or so on 6 or 5, but I start to feel weary towards the end.

I think I had this problem a while ago, the progress bar just wouldn't budge when you pressed play. I'm afraid to say i'm not exactly sure how I resolved it, but I doubt it was anything more complicated than re-installing iTunes.

If you're at all worried about sound quality, I wouldn't compress below 192kbps. I compressed quite a bit of stuff to 128 a while ago and through good headphones/speakers you definitely can notice the difference. 192 seems like a good compromise between file size and sound quality.
