  2. I just have to say thats an impressive bit of thinking there
  3. So, today i got the idea to load linux up on my OldWorld Power Book. My problem is that I am a Linux neophyte and I dont have and way to find which partion it is on (eg. hda1, hda2...) Does anyone here know how to find the names of the partions as linux sees them, because when I try to boot I get a kernel panic and it asks me to specify "root=" If this is not clear enough say so and ill try to explain better
  4. I wouldn't mind school if our teachers didn't suck. All they can do is give us packets and see if our answers are the same as the answer key. If a question asks your opinion and it is not the same as the answer key you get marked off, because my teachers don't even think about what they are doing.
  5. I have PCIe and am planning on getting an video card for some gaming, so that should be ok EDIT: dell wont let you order a system with a amd processor
  6. Ok so I finally went and bought a new dell today... I got a Dimension E510 with 1 gig of memory, a Pentium 4 Processor 630 w/HT Technology (3.0GHz,800FSB), a 160 gig hard drive, Windows Media Center Edition, a 48x CD-RW / DVD-ROM Combo Drive, a 19 inch Ultrasharp 1905FP Digital Flat Panel, and integrated graphics and sound. Has anyone had experience with this type of system, and will this be good enough for some gaming?
  7. Genius! That is definitely the best game of all time. It's the one reason i still have my nintendo 64. I think it has music to rival any other game too. It's cool im not the only one who still plays it :P . Also golden-eye is a great shooter, first one I really liked and could play for hours
  8. I cant get a pic but my history teacher has one of those 1 gallon mugs someone got him for christmas last year... He actually finished it once when we were being ****s and he was in a very bad mood.
  9. I got the idea from this thread to go buy an airhorn. If you talk really quietly for a while they turn up the volume in their headsets and at the end of the call blow the airhorn straight into the mouth-piece of your phone. it can be quite loud for them
  10. Hey, I know how you feel, i was 5' 10" in seventh grade, or maybe earlier. I could do like 38.
  11. i pretty much did it to run ray-tracing software and to prove i could do it :D
  12. Has anyone else here built a cluster? I built one when i was 13 using 7 dells, a intel 10/100 network switch, windows 2000 and MPICH2. If you don't know what a cluster is go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_cluster
  13. If you are just starting out learning a programming language, i wouldnt worry about your computer yet... I learned to program at first on a 250 mhz computer with 256 mb of ram. (those were the days)
  14. Im guessing its your old hard-drive dieing, as you have almost an old computer by todays standards (and its a dell). I'd back your stuff up RIGHT NOW, my hard drive locked up like that and i lost quite a bit of work.
  15. I play too even though my style is kinda weird, as its like alot mixed together. I often use a somewhat backhand move where you start a backhand holding the racket slightly backwards but then i snap my elbow which puts alot of spin on the ball and can get it to curve into the opponents stomach.... kinda hard to explain but i've had it curve off the table and back on at a angle, looked pretty cool  EDIT: I like a soft paddle with alot of grip, and high quality rubber
  16. Approx. where do you live? For me i have the same problem, and there is only one or two servers that dont do it for me, so id also suggest trying a few different servers. And also removing the XP theme can help allot on an old system.
