I lost my fire cape a few months ago and I had to re-learn the techniques and the NEW JAD in order to get it back, and it even took me a couple of tries, just so I could get my fire cape back for this update. Great job Jagex taking the one thing that requires just a little skill out of this game.

I posted on the Jagex Lite forums as I had the same concern... We don't really know what 2010 will have in store for us. I actually received a response by Mod Mark H which cleared up a few things (though vague, and understandably so), and is an interesting read, even if it doesn't reveal that much that we didn't already know. Honestly, I'm not seeing what made the Avatar so difficult. Just pray melee and go afk for 15 minutes, really. I used maybe two prayer potions trying to kill him. It's not difficult, it just takes long. Now, Nomad, on the other hand...

Well, finally done it. Zammy spear and black dhides are definitely the way to go. Also got 98 ranged with the reward :) Thanks for the advice everyone.

My recommendations: One overload pot, several super restores and several regular restores, and a ton of Sara brews. Put brews in a yak, set your left-click on "Take BoB". Wear d hide and your best stuff that will show up in a gravestone. Turn on Soul Split and Turmoil and have at him. Use brews liberally, restoring with the restore pots and super restores as needed. Do that and you should be fine. Don't have overloads, so I guess I'll just pot up before I go there. Do you think I should take some sharks? Also, is mage def the best way to go? (Armadyl, black dhide?)

So I'm going to re-attempt this later (failed 4 times already) What seems to be the best way of taking him down? (Which attack style?) What type of defense armor should I wear? What should I pray and should I bring mostly brews, or mostly sharks? Thanks guys. Congratulations to everyone that has completed this already, quite a feat.

Looks good to me :-P ZOMG I didn't know you were a TIF'er. In honesty, who got the deal here? You probably got the better end since you can probably re-sell that spec with 6 mints (instead of 10). I was only selling specs with mints to make min to med profit (buying spec min from ge and re-selling med with mints). It didn't matter to me though since mints are worthless to me, other than raking in a quick profit.

Within 5 seconds of the GE Update. Stayed up all night three nights ago (until 7:15 AM). I'd say it was well worth it.

So you guys know, there is a quick and easy way to get ONE free mint cake, provided you have done The Path of Glouphrie quest. Go to the Grand Exchange, by tangled toads legs (about 3k gp) and then go to the spirit tree north east of the grand exchange, go to the wasteland, go south, and use the tangled toads legs on the gnome there. He will reward you with a free mint cake, and this only works once.

They said on the Content team QA that they are not going to make Eastern Lands before Prifddinas, Menaphos and Acheron. In other words, expect it in 2012 never at the earliest. :P

Insane reqs, especially the achievement diary. But I'm ready to do this quest. Sounds interesting. SWEET: for any adventurer brave enough to succeed will be rewarded with hundreds of thousands of XP, new equipment and much respect.
