  1. Yes, we could set it up....It is purely a case of then updating it. I mean, we have Space...I started on a Wednesday, then announced three days...Then took a day off because of stuffs...Then things went awry, then I changed Mondays from 5 to 8... I don't keep my own thread upto date...so I can't imagine me PMing the Admin to inform them of every change I make. Then threads die, like Planeteering, though the mod still insists they are being run. And people have different opinions about things, such as Hegemony...so if there is another Hegemony Spree, then the Admin could end up with 4 or 5 'Original Hegemony' PMs...
  2. Global Announcement: Pros and Cons. There is no reason not too. Sticky: Not fond of this...Unless there is some kind of joint editing ability(which seems unlikely). Elsewise it just dries up(from experience in Fally and Varrock Libraries), and then hangs around. Tavern To Top: Yes, it is wholy unfair and is a bad idea. PM Tavern Members: Good, it is a terrible idea. Thread in Varrock Library: A line in the rules sounds awesome. Additional: Falador Tavern User Group? Similar to the Falador Library User Group...Just exists to show membership within the group. Probably not a goer because allowing us to have one would mean other people could ask and things could get confusing...But it would be nice as a '1 Year Member of Falador Tavern' kinda thing.
  3. Its alright Earth, just play when you want to =)
  4. I have a solution...its call Vista...I hear they got 95% of the bugs out now.
  5. Which is kinda why I don't believe in the death sentence or maximum level fines/imprisonment...because...if you have killed someone, there is not alot of point in stopping after that.
  6. That is part of the point...small posts that contain 1 action and no description can be made fast, while long, lovingly crafted posts, can be done slower....Balancing out, somewhat.
  7. Marshmellows are vile, they are liable to kill you, cooking them on a stick is likely to mean you are drink/eat animal waste...oh, and they are vile...Did I say that already? Meh, everything is mildly dangerous.
  8. Realtime gameplay that is typed.
  9. Which is why I like Realtime gameplay
  10. /join #space7 tavern Log: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12603519/Space/Logs/%23space7.Tip.It.log PS, I am somewhat tired due to being dosed on painkillers. So sorry if I am not as fast as usual.
  11. Third Law of Motion, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...So 'splat' would also cause a bruise... Ieys comment: True, however I didn't want to be too long winded by analysing when the marshmellow would be destroyed. If you fired them out of a gun then nothing would happen...since they contain no gunpowder.... Assuming you could, then they would be travelling at between 200 and 900 meters per second... Not 100,000 Meters per second Again, third law of motion...yes they would compress, and then they would decompress/the weight would catch up with them...so it is not important. The impact surface is important, but, like I said to Iey's comment, I didn't want to be too long winded. I also ignored wind resistance...in case anyone was wondering
  12. Sand weighs between 28 micro grams and 23 miligrams...So lets go with those two... To knock someone out, hence cause brain damage is around 400 pounds. So... 400 pounds is 181,436,948,000 Micro Grams 400 pounds is 181,436,948 Miligrams... Thus: 1 grain of sand of 28 micrograms weight, to cause damage, it would need to be travelling at 6,479,891 Meters per second 1 grain of sand of 23 milligrams weight, to cause damage, it woud need to be travelling at 281,734 Meters per second
  13. People make all these complicated rulings...Which I tend to ignore entirely. Just play the game... If your internet dies then your character now has 'absence seizures'... Psudeo-realtime gameplay works fairly well on forum or IRC. Turn-based gameplay works well on both when the mod and the player use short, sharp, sentences...rather than complicated actions. Though, the one thing I don't like about the Dungeoneering concept, when done by other people, is that they have a tendency to roll for every action... This isn't runescape! We can swing the pick at the Rune Rock at level 1 without impailing ourselves through the eye. Rolling should be used ONLY when we are not sure how the player would do at a specific action...We can assume that the player can walk, hold objects and other basic things...If you are feeling mildly sadistic then you can, occasionally, have the player fail at a basic task...But when there is a 1/20 chance of dying while attempting breathing...
  14. 900 MPH is used...fast bullets.... Assuming a large marshmellow weighs 0.5 grams, that is is force of 402.336 Meters per second...It has Momentum of 201 Grams per second. Assuming it weighs 7 grams, it has a momentum of 2.8 Kilograms per second. It takes 20 pounds of force(per second) to form a bruise 200 grams is equal to around 7 ounces(which isn't even 1 pound) 2.8 kilograms is equal to 6 lb and 2.76 ounces... Neither of which are enough to cause a bruise. Thus, to be 'hurt' by a marshmellow: A 10 gram marshmellow would need to be travelling at: 9071.8 Grams per second 907 Meters per second or 2,029 miles per hour... Which is somewhat faster than you expect a marshmellow to travel.
  15. Not hugely....Hegemony is a roleplaying game, not an information processing game...So sending two plans to the moderator and having the moderator draft a battle report....Its information processing.
  16. Hex, great, you start a game of Hegemony and write up all the information you like. I will be over in Space having fun 'processing information'.
  17. Very true. Battle reports are ok to write if you have two complimentary styles of battle...But if you have 'I lay a trap' and 'I stand waiting for them to attack' it gets very boring and people scream at you alot.
  18. Seems a bad idea to limit it to 3 people...Since those people are going to be bored on the forum as well, we just won't know about it. And if we are doing turn based people could be typing a long post which we don't know about...or they could have gone off and won't be back for an hour. Not sure about people with IRC difficulties... I agree about the /me idea...makes alot of sense.
  19. Indeed, if it is advantagous to do it via IRC then we should use it... Its just common sense.
  20. We should keep the IRC system. People seemed to enjoy it alot, since we didn;t have to crawl at a snails pace because someone went to make a sandwich on their turn.
  21. IRC is far better than PM, since you can actually talk...though I think that PM options should be made avalible. IE, the mod and any players who want to discuss the battle over IRC should be able to, while people who don't like IRC have to make do with sending their plan in.
  22. Or, more likely. Player: The chieftain and the prime spearmen travel to pillage the village near the mountains. *Half an hour passes* Mod: You travel for fifteen days, though your journey was safe and uneventful, as you arrive at the village you find it littered with corpses and full of blood splatters yet to be washed away by the rain, all the food is gone. One of your spearmen found a dead wolf just outside of the village and a trail of blood that leads up the mountain. *2 hours pass* Another Player: I jump out and hit the Chieften over the head with a rock. Or Player: I set up camp Player 2: I set up camp 2 hours away from Player 1's camp Player: Ok, I am going to bed Player 2: I attack Player 1's Camp Or Player: Help, I am being attacked Player 2: I will help you Mod: You are two hours away Player: I need to go out, back in two hours. Ps, I like Ico's idea. I didn't like Hex's idea, it seemed flimsy.
  23. Nah, I was thinking of playing it more or less by ear...After all, trying to force people to wait for specific 'ages' for stuff to happen only annoys people. Example, I created cheap steel and then, for no reason other than people not doing it for a couple of years, was unable to build railroads... I would say 3 months at a time seems reasonable, with a reset every year.
  24. To be honest, I thought it was something to do with Computer Aided Design as well, then Theros started talking about Web Comics and I realised it was a name.
