  1. *Slowly and definately clears throat* *Stands up and considers a wilting plant, silently hoping it was a better cared for* *Flutters a cape and spreads out a hand, making the background go blurry and time slightly slower* *Makes eyecontact with everyone in the room, watching them slowly.* *Places both hands on the table, head down* *Head rises up, and in a stony, dark voice, Archimage says* What do you have against Photon Torpedoes? Punk
  2. *Cough* I think someone underestimates my sheer awesomeness when it comes to procrastinating. *Cough* Sides, its not that much different from giving macemen flails and expecting to get a bonus...you just put words together in an order that sounds moderately plausible to anyone that is less or as educated as you are in whatever field you are talking about.
  3. Hehe, 2200. Mathis is 206. His main attack is to break his hip at the zombies. [/sarcasm]
  4. *Sustained Facepalm* Better system: Everyone has Cog/Cog like ships, which are crap at navigating beyond the coast, but if you follow the coast, you are mostly fine. Round Bottom boats take 80 years to develop(Which make all your vessels ocean going) 2 Mast Boats take 30 years to develop(Which doubles the size of your ships) 3 Mast Boats take 50 years to develop(Which trebles the size of your ships(Doesn't stack)) 4 Mast Boats take 100 years to develop(Which makes all your vessels ocean going AND trebles the size of your ships(Doesn't stack)) You can build massive ships before then but they cost a tonne extra(With the research the cost stays the same as whatever it is now), and trying to go into the ocean carries a 80% chance of losing the ship.
  5. Galleons = late 16th Century, huge transport ships. Closely assocciated with carrying vast sums of Gold. Carracks = 15th Century, Portuguese ships which replaced the Caravel, were larger and mostly used to run spice. Caravel = 15th Century, Portuguese ships, was made round bottomed and had 3 masts, compared with the usual 1 huge mast used until then in Europe. Cog = 12th Century, widely used European ship.
  6. *Facepalms* In 5 years it is possible to travel to the 18th century, but it takes 20 years to get to the 15th....In other news, Dinosaurs arrived 5 hours before I powered up the machine.
  7. Hehe, Cavavels are decades away. You are looking at a whole new sail design and a complete rethink of the way of building ships. Additionally, Carracks or Gallons would be a far more useful research objective and would probably only take 5 or 10 years longer...So the efficent tyrant would do them.... Though if you are jumping 500 years worth of history you might as well create a Pycrete Island and parachute some troops into America...
  8. Sigh...someone send some troops to cut the mongol supply lines... Mongols are pillagers(by this game's misunderstanding of history), thus will not have long term plans for the territory they have conquered, so will have harvested and not re-sown, expecting food from their supplies/next conquest. Thus cutting off their supply forces them to attack, retreat or die. Meaning all the troops we have, not riding in Asia, destroying supply wagons, can be put on the defensive and absorb the trust of their assult with minimal casualties. If you wanted to near guarentee there attack location you would subtling tell them that all your grain was at some remarkably accessible compound, not too far over the border. The attack is innevitable, but this way you force them to fight now, rather than later If they retreat then it gives you time to try to come up with proper plans rather than 'Ah, a Mongol. Ah, another Mongol. Ah, another...' Plans like cutting their supply chains and taking back the initative. If they just hang around uselessly(as is the invarible Hegemony tactic) then they will die of starvation/disperse for foraging, and thus be easy pray for mop up forces. Worst case scenario is 5,000 lightly armed soliders are killed by a the suprisingly well reinforced supply chain.
  9. Simpler quote if you like: Morality is simply the attitude we adopt towards people whom we personally dislike.
  10. Morality is the herd-instinct in the individual.
  11. Anyone can win with a large country, with a large army and a large budget....but as the saying goes: Invention is the the product of brilliance and materials...the more brilliance you have, the less materials you need.
  12. If you only eat rabbits you will die: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC2RYiaM6WU So the plan is...what? We are dropped in a forest with a bunch of zombies?
  13. As though there was some sort of ulterior motive....
  14. Crete is deeply upset by Leon's insensitive regarding this matter. The Christian Churches and Monestaries are burnt to the ground by unruly mobs. The Cretian Government sends out its armies to deal with the riots, but are unable to keep order, what with the sheer hatred in the bowels of every right thinking Cretian alive. The Holy Order of the Banhammer stays strangely silent for the duration. Any surviving Christians are given free passage to Leon, after seeking approval to send them.
  15. Crete announces its wish to form closer ties with Iceland. Also a consignment of 5 albino, plague free, rats, are sent to Leon as a token of Suzerainty, representing the five parts of the Holy Trinity.
  16. Basically... If I can march my 20,000 soliders off to war and know that they will perform like 20,000 soliders, then I am happy. If I march my 35,000 soliders off to war and think they will will perform like 35,000 soliders and actually they only perform like 15,000 soliders(Extra training and extra rations/weapons not being avalible with a larger army, thus perform at a lower quality), then all the food and metal/wood I wasted on those other 20,000 is not gonna be there when I need reinforcements/whatever.
  17. Yes...Begun... A ) Everything is done under the Holy Order of the Banhammer, heretics will be ban-hammered out of existance...Since it is religion people accept it. B ) Its a well known historical practice, known as Decimation. Though I am using it to achieve more than 'If you retreat there is a 1 in 10 chance you will die'...and basing it off skill rather than randomly killing people. C ) It is only used in the Archery Cores, any other core currently doesn't have this system, though the luxurious standards of the Archery Cores are not maintained for the Swords/Spears/Axe/other cores. D ) Its is inline with established traditions within the Cretian Government(since I took over)...and most people are happy that they, unlike the squabbling masses on Europa, are not worried by the sight of a man coming over the hill, on the off chance he has plague... E ) If we are gonna get hissy about soliders dying then war will have to be cleaned up...I want the very fewest casualities possible in war, hence why my soliders are trained to a high degree and always have the threat of death hanging over them...so that when they face the baying hounds of wherever, they are not overcome by fear of their impending doom because I gave them saftey bows and arrows and wrapped them in silk to protect them from the stiff breezes of Island life. If you want to play nursemaid then go ahead, but when your soliders die in their thousands, you will get no sympathy.
  18. We shall see who has the last laugh when my minions headshot you from 200 meters out. While your forces struggle to launch a hail of arrows. Additional: Also, people are being trained how to hold shields. To facilitate this shield groups are ordered to march of 6 hours a day, with their wives/husbands/child/dog/favouriate plant while archers rain down arrows on them. Surviours are sent back the next day and so on and so forth for the next 5 years so that the final team are more than capable of protecting themselves and their assigned archer.
  19. Face facts...If you can't hit a 40 Centimeter object at 200 meters, then you are a damn useless sharpshooting archer. Plus, it is a designed to actually force people to practice more...as killing 10% of my archery force every year for 5 years probably won't help too much...
  20. Crete continues to be Crete... Following various rejects from the rat breeding experiments, catapults have been order to hurl the rats high into the sky and archers ordered to shoot to the rats as they fall to Crete again. Each archer has a different colour arrow. This will be done in groups of 100 and will continue until everyone has hit the rat at least once. Out of every 100 archers the person with the lowest skill will be shot out of the catapult. Anyone who hits the body, with an arrow, will be spared, the 9 people who miss will be sent skywards(or the person with the next lowest skill, so that 10 people are killed per hundred, eventually) and offered as free target practice. The process will be repeated each year for 5 years(killing 10%+9%+8.1%+7.29%+6.561% = 40.951% of my archers). [hide] [/hide] I expect a marked improvement in accuracy and range finding. I also expect alot of bodies, most of which will be mangled by gravity and arrows, but all will all be sent to the Anatomy Labs, where the human body is being studied. Live criminals are also being sent to the Anatomy Labs. Also, people are being trained how to hold shields.
  21. Nah, they are probably unbeatable and so taking the fight to them is kinda pointless... 'The line must be drawn HERE, THIS FAR, NO FURTHER!'
  22. Unwinnable war....Man the battlements...
  23. Crete takes over Burgendy's trade deals, we only have longboats and such, but we should be able to step up to the challange. Crete will transport anything, anywhere, except Crete, as long as it is by sea. Floating quarentine zone is being established off the coast(Lots off wood and rope, should take a year), should protect us.
  24. Well, the plague obvouisly isn't THAT dangerous...If you can have it and still be a menace to Europe then its not that serious. I say do your best to avoid it, but it can't be that bad. Side note, huge parabolic disks of polished copper are being errected. Mirrors are being arranged like beacons, allowing early warning by shining a bright light...that is their only use...
  25. Seems reasonable.
