  1. Level 5! Thats like, half way to being a mage at the tower!!!
  2. Sere has locked me in...so I need to wait for him to let me out.
  3. It takes 10 hours to 'walk' back, and we will probably die...so...
  4. Woodfish still generate LP.
  5. Well...What I would do, is get a stone axe, go about 5 minutes away from your settlement,(preferably near water with a water flask in your inventory), cut trees, take logs, make cups....You will rake in the LP and then you can sink it into Marksmanship.
  6. I had one, then Sere stole it and took it to WE....Although, it may still be in my house....Village idol to find out
  7. When Retch builds his village claim we can tele back there by destroying our Hearth Fires.
  8. I thought that 5 minutes after I arrived in World's End....Its such a dump.
  9. Reading helps alot. Ico is annoyed because he is probably gonna lose Belgium because Nex is acting against him, and currently things are just going wrong for him.
  10. *Crete Facepalms* 'Is it better to return to the system that screwed you, maybe improve at some indeterminable point in the future...or take your chances with England....' Better option: Attack directly, they are stalling for time. Offer them vassalage to you, but self rule, with the option to return to your rule after twenty years.
  11. Crete gives a promise to exterminate any Bruges state, to France, to only be used if the situation is of the most dire urgency.
  12. Bruges is in Belgium...So we are probably looking at the creation of Belgium....
  13. The new Port, with a rapidly developing population, drawn by the wonder and mysterment of the Thunder Ray, has been named Castheo, after the supposed name of the God of the Banhammer which struck death into those who would stand against the might of the Banhammer. Members of the Holy Order of the Banhammer have assured local Christian Groups that Castheo is a peaceful God, who only smites down the Godless, such as those Spainyards, who only pay lipservice to Christanity. Also that Castheo, and the other God of the Banhammer (Zarosen) have sworn alliegence to the Christian God, and by doing their will, they are doing the Creator's will.
  14. Lens were developed in 1,000 BC. Romans used lens in reading glasses in the 1st century BC... Arabs developed Snells Law in the 9th Century AD...as well as magifiying glasses... However I would guess at least 37 years to develop the lens...or however long we have been playing.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_forge Parabolic Mirrors, or Fresnel Lens would work. You can research them if you like, though it would probably take some decades before you could use them.
  16. Ico, at this point the only person I pose a threat to is Dusty, and anyone else tyrannical enough to lay claim to the Med. I plan to become a guardian of Free Trade with the Med, and keep the Gibraltan Straits open to ALL vessels. Anyone wishing to help in this task is more than welcome to give assistance.
  17. Mirrors would require time to make...Another Thunder Ray Carrier is sent to the new Port...actually, lets make it two more.
  18. We should have 'God' view....
  19. For the duration of the build I ask that no ships or personal approach the construction site. Any that do will be serverly punished. This includes any Rossians. You have been warned, and Retech has been informed the consequences of any such tresspasses. PLEASE do not cause any problems.
  20. Seems fair to me, though I must insist on one of the buildings being uninspected...Either that or we need to negotiate it some more in PM.
  21. Hehe, nice to know that even with my insane planning I am considered 'Good'. Anyway, I will contribute/buy the materials and build the port, on condition that all imports from Crete are treated without tarrifs, as well as a free-hand at the port(allowing me to import anything, even if the government believes it to be illegal). Also diplomatic immunity for any Cretian Staff working at the port, with a joint tribunal to decide on the punisment for any of the staff, should the Cretian Envoy deem it neccessary. I also require permission to station up to 4 warships at the port, for personal use, with a detachment of 1,000 Trained Archers to guard the facilities, as well as facilities to keep them in good training. Also to use the port as a military base, with an area of 4 miles square which is off limits to any and all non-cretians. To guard this area I will also send a detachment of 1,000 Swordsmen. The area will be cobbled, except for brick buildings and brick roads. The area is to have a dock capable of fitting a ship of 10 meters wide by 50 meters long, and sits up to 20 meters deep in water. This will all be paid for by me. Retech can you advise on costs via PM, if Ross agrees to allow the port to be constructed. The main port will belong to Ross, so all requests for access should go through him, not me, any 'Special' requests may be forwarded to me, though I reserve the right to tell Ross about any of these requests. Summery: Gift of a Port to Burgandy, on condition that Burgandy give me 4 Square miles of land at the port site, in addition to free-trade, permission to station troops at the port and up to 4 warships. If Ross has any questions he may ask them and I will answer them to the best of my abilities without compromising any agenda which I may, or may not, be pursuing.
  22. I am not sure grudge is the right word....We are just aware that the other person will become too powerful if we don't check their expansion from time to time, sort of like a France-England balance. Anyway, 200 Galleys is a useful figure for me to have. I don't know how you have them deployed, but I assume that the ones that are at sea are difficult to contact, and the ones in port will need to be prepped before they can be launched.... The general point is that deploying a navy is more difficult than 'Force goes here'...
  23. So your plan, sorry for my ignorance, is to get told the ships are massing a conquest fleet, rush to Marsallies, wait a few weeks while they load up, and then, after having seen you waiting, have them sail into your trap. Or perhaps it is that you will arrive, send a bunch of fireboats into the harbour and disappear again.... Now if I was Ico or Rocco, I can't help thinking that, before launching my conquest fleet, I would send fireboats to Spain's fleet, destroy it with apparent ease, then sail my fleet away while they struggle to deal with the destroyed ships. Alteratively I would prepare my conquest fleet at five or six seperate ports, underladen my ships, build escorts and thus not get destroyed that way...Or build decoy fleets, or maybe build a battlefleet under the guise of a conquest fleet and destroy your 20 cogs. On the Barbary Corsairs... A ) One assumes they had more than 20 cogs B ) They didn't sit in the straits of Gibraltar half the time, they were spread across the med C ) They were pirates by trade, they made masses of money out of raiding ships....for people to keep sending ships, most of them managed to get through....Common sense. D ) The Corsairs didn't charge in against fleets of ships, but were predatory, attacking the lone merchant vessels(Doubtless you can find examples to the contray, but they are in the minority...) Piracy does not, and cannot, work by deploying huge fleets against other huge fleets...It works by having your huge fleet dispersed over the seas in detachements of one, engaging trade ships. I am sure now that I have said this people will do their usual thing of 'All of my ships travel in a pack'...which is great, but this huge convoy of ships is gonna get battered by storms and will be hugely inefficent...so...my advice is to just accept that Dusty will be a small time pirate, rattling his sabre and trying to convince people that his 20 cogs are undefeatable.... Just be safe in the knowladge that Retech is not an idiot.
  24. Of course if France didn't tell Spain they were launching their ships..... Also wind speed is generally less than 40 knots(It Sid Meier's Pirates is anything to go by. Also here) Usually between 20 and 30 MPH Distance from... Port-Bou to Sète about 60 miles. Thus between 2 and 3 hours to arrive there....During which time the French/whatever fleet could have sailed 60 miles away.... Furthermore, the wind does not only come from behind ships. Thus a ship from France may travel at 30 miles per hour, will a ship from Spain may travel at 20 miles per hour. Also the issue of speed being far lower nearer land, thus meaning that the French ships should leave the cost line very early on to pick up speed. Which would then mean that the Spainish would also have to leave the coast line, which would give them very few points of referance and so it would not be a case of intercepting, so much as actually finding, the ships. Essentially intercepting ships in the Med is like playing Marco-Polo when the other person is mute.
  25. Yes.... On the topic of a pact, it would be great to release a collection of short stories from the Tavern
