'This situation is dangerous because these people are under the influence and thus cannot be trusted to act within societal norms' vs 'This situation is not dangerous because these people are not under the influence, and thus can be trusted to act within societal norms.' Of course the Sunday Granma's Tea Meet attendes may very well be under the influence and you are simple not aware of it...or they may act outside societal norms because they also happen to be totally insane....the point is we make an assessment and then we continually refine that assessment as new data is fed to us. You just have a very board scope of acceptance =)

Though personally I try to help people regardless, I am aware of what my instincts tell me.
