  1. Earth auto has them. Refinary costs 1.5 trillion, and needs a proper ship. It can only process 50 billion RUs per decade, as an FYI.
  2. The biodomes don't have any budget though...They only produce RUs, which need to be refined....So...
  3. Hmmm, weapon shipments would require a ship. As would Money/RU shipments back to Earth.
  4. Yeah, ut was only a demo, so there is only an hour before it locks down and won't let you do much. I have wanted to do a Spaceship roleplay for AGES, but no one ever seems to want to do it. <_<
  5. Ok then, my opinion on the software...it has a limited application...unless someone is gonna blow up Earth or increase the mass of a planet with an asteroid its pretty useless. There is no way I am designing new systems on there...and the numbers and all that Jazz will not be well recieved by most people. Further point....Why? Ok, we can work out how long it will take for a spaceship to get from one planet to another...We can plan interceptions more accurately....BUT PEOPLE DON'T WANT THAT! Can you honestly imagine Dusty or Rocco sitting down in front of the screen and planning their course? Can you imagine me doing that? It is mildly amusing, but its practical applications are Nil.
  6. No...FTL hasn't been discovered yet. You could build a STL ship, I estimated it would take at least 50 years using a laser on Earth and a magnetic sail to slow down on reaching Alpha Centuri. Since the star map is different from the real map, the closest star is Sirius, which is 5 units away. If we assume that 1 unit is 10 years at STL then it will still take 50 years, but we have a system in place. Only a suggest currently, if anyone has a different system. Yeah, alright(Arcturus). You will need to discover Zero-point energy, which will require an advanced understanding of the universe, which will only be made possible by travelling to a Geocore, a Solar Core and a Galactic Core. Then you will need a containment field, which will require advanced particle theory, which will require atomic creation, you will also need forcefields to a very high level. You will then need to discover sub-space, which will require FTL research of one type or another, followed by the development of a Space-Sub-Space bridge, which will probably be a wonder of some sort. You will then need to establish a colony within Sub-Space(Which will act as an area which you are sucking energy out of, to prevent someone claiming the whole of subspace). After all that I think you will be ready to start the research. I am so excited about this sandbox thing! Earth...meet Mars!
  7. Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Good Dog' until you can find a large rock.
  8. I agree, the interior of the system should remain secret, only known by those who have been there and conducted a survey. But, since the starmap has already been posted, its simply a case of picking a system...
  9. Of comment on Dusty's Monologue: Its like reading something I wrote two or three years ago...A lot of hot air surrounding a couple of shiny gems of truth...something that I might write and then tease apart to explore language, writing styles and meaning. So my first thought is that someone has spent far too long thinking about something, choosing the right vocabulary to express such a specific meaning that the meaning is lost. Though, I have to say that I would never have included the part about the snake oil salesmen...It undercuts your argument by trying to smear Arch, showing the 'hippy' to be just as manipulative as this Arch. The obvouisness of that, even to the most casual reader really damages the illusion that this person is supposed to be be fighting oppression...it sounds more like they are a rival politian, laying into someone at an election drive. And the passage seems to have been written over some length of time, and since it is out of chronological order it gives the impression that whoever the writer is, they are somewhat insane...which, again, undercuts the argument. This is because Arch seems to have occupied a number of roles, roles which contradict each other...doubtlessly this is intended to show how devious Arch is, but the actual effect is to have the reader question the sanity of the author. I am not a particular fan of the piece though, the hot air is too much and the gems too small, and, as stated, contradictory. If it was a work of art it would consist of a blank canvas with the words 'Perspicacious 'Eggplant' 'Dictionary' and 'America'...The words are intereting, but there is no obvouis connection between then...and without those connections they are what they are, and putting them together only draws attention to that. Its only my opinion, and I don't think you should give up, but I think you should try to work more on the meaning and writing style, than the language.
  10. Ok, executive decision. The first system discovered is renamed Berlin.
  11. 1. Yeah, we are gonna have to drop that in the future, it killed the game for some time. 2. Same as with the original Hegemony. Not much we can do about that one 3. True. Can you tell me what the towers are for, thanks.
  12. It probably means you are doing it right, if it is too hard....
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b85ZCywAvR4
  14. Ok then. Russia invades Spain....again... Cost of attack, 432,000,000,000 Russian Treasury: 1,128,899,651,000 Infrastructure: 1.5 A massive attack, involving over 100 kilotonnes of nuclear weapons, ends dreams of Spanish Independance.
  15. Right... I can't imagine how that differs from Hegemony in general 'You haven't done that research' 'Yes I have, I just haven't posted it' Or 'Its unfair how I can't insta build something that someone else has researched for the last five months.' Anywho, the list is 'designated' by the people themselves...So Amazingly simple system to combat this, its done at the end of the decade. No one has so far, and, unless you are proposing something outlandishly stupid which I couldn't possible accept, then I am happy with whatever. Oh, you mean like some sort of drug that makes everyone on the other side completely docile, and thus one man can kill an entire army....Nah, you are already doing that and you don't seem to follow any of the random tech rules/levels...so they arn't that important. The only thing the level thing does, is make sure people don't get stuff wrong...one person researches lasers for 40 years and thinks they can blow up a planet, verses one person who researches lasers for 5 years and thinks they can blow up a planet... And that researching medical nanobots and then jumping to planet disassembling nanobots, with any additional research, doesn't happen. Sides...I am always on hand if you have a question about something, so you don't need to understand it to play...you can just ask.
  16. Whats wrong with the level system? You can mainly ignore it, its just there for me....But if you have a specific problem?
  17. Ayn Rand disagrees with you....Humans are heroic and perfect, it is only when people do not recognise what they have that problems emerge. In essance...Perfection is truth about one's self...Something that only the individual can define.
  18. Probably...There is a little bit in everyone that wants to do a whole lot of things, most of which are impractical, immoral and illegal....and a much larger portion of them are at odds with the rest of our bodies, genes and personalities... After all, we don't walk around saying 'I refuse to believe you wouldn't have sex with a Dog.'
  19. Comments like that are so full of prejudice.... Anywho. I don't really understand the argument...its like when I was in secondary school, being told I should have sex with Girls to find out if I liked it...To which the only retort is 'Why not have sex with guys then?' In these circumstances its not really applicable though: Considered opinion: Ross, have sex for the rest of your life. Ross and I: Everyone, don't have sex for the rest of your life.
  20. Unless you actually live it there is no way to prove it to someone else...
  21. That is a falsehood. Evolution is a more complicated mechanism than just reproduction....If that were not so then sex wouldn't exist, everything would be about asexual reproduction and creating as many copies of yourself as physically possible. An example would be Black Swans, which mate for life, if their partner dies directly afterwards then that is, usually, that. Unless you propose that all animals have an innate culture (Since it has been observed in captivity, so learning it hasn't happened), something that even we humans lack, then we must assume that it runs much deeper than that. Asexuality also exists within Bi-sexed speices, so it is not purely human in any case... If we accept that, then the most probable cause is a genetic predisposition, something that we have evolved, over time. We could have a long, drawn out, conversation about the benefits of asexuality, but we would have the underlying concept wrong...evolution isn't about benefits or disadvantages, its about getting hundreds of trillions of genes to randomly line up to create a person. Natural Selection biases people who have benefical genes to survive, but that doesn't mean that they definately survive or people with 'bad' genes to die out...After all, I have a strong desire to have children, yet am Asexual, and if I was gonna be sexual, I would be gay...So, for me to have kids I would have to overcome two major revulsions in my life...and I am probably willing to do that... So my genes can still be passed on, even though, from an evolutionary view point, they should not be past on. So the idea that ALL Humans have evolved to enjoy sex is an entirely faulty assumption. It may be true for billions of other humans, but not for everyone.
  22. Hex, if you are going to offend people(me certainly) then I will report you, stop now.
  23. India has launched 4 shiny rockets with biodomes strapped to them. They are on course to Mars and will arrive in 4 days.
  24. Except for me, Ross and the other 1% of Asexuals out there.... I wasn't, therefore, by your system, we need a new system, but by the new system we don't need a new system, since a couple of people being unhappy isn't important any more.
