I'm pretty sure if Ash changes back he forgets everything. Taken from the site: Files correctly entered into the system are all updated as the universe changes. Improperly filed files generate errors and are processed, but not updated properly, resulting in a disconnection with the universal defined reality, otherwise known as a "UDR Error". This is why Ash and Emily retain the memories of their previous lives, because the contents of their files no longer match the descriptions of their files as entered on the "table of contents" on the inside cover of each individual file. While the bodies have been updated, the souls cannot be located for updates, and the memories are retained. Since the files themselves now recognize Ash as a girl and Emily as being two years younger, all correctly filed files have been updated to reflect this altered reality. If the files were replaced correctly, the universe would return to normal. Which I think means the only reason Ash knows the truth about Emily's condition is because his file has a glitch. If Ash changes back his file updates itself with the 'new' info about Emily, the info saying Emily is supposed to be a sophomore. If this assumption is correct it leads to quite the predicament...
  2. Eh, they don't excist really, it was just an example. And atomic clock is the world's most accurate clock, there used to be one of these clocks and it was kept in a bunker in Nevada. All of the world's official times were based off of it. Now there are many such clocks, most major counties have their own, and they are all synchronized with each other to have the exact same time. Saying an "atomic watch" is just saying a watch that is 100% accurate so you can't say it's a second slow just by chance. If an atomic clock (or watch if there was such a thing) is one second slow... that doesn't mean the clock is slow, it means the rest of the world is 1 second in the future (hope that wasn't too confusing)
  3. Not really. You can't physically go back in time. If you use the Pluto example you could see 5 hours into the past, but if you actually traveled back to earth you would be back at the present, since what you saw on Pluto wasn't the actual physical past, it was just a delay in the signal. It's hard to explain but if you think about it, it makes sense. You can look into the past, but you cannot go to the past Not exactly, you can travel to the future. True going back in time is pretty much impossible, but traveling to the future is possible, but you could never go back to the "present" if you did. Going to the future involves a process that isn't really related to what we were just talking about. In short, if you go fast time slows down. If you ride in a plane all day and your watch was an atomic clock, by the end of the day your watch would be about a second slower than an atomic clock that was on the ground. :uhh: This doesn't have any big implications but if you traveled like 10x the speed of light time really slows down. If you flew in a circle at 10x the speed of light for about a year and then came back to earth, what was 1 year to you and your ship was actually something like 1000 years to everyone else on the earth :-s
  4. llamster, its all a distortion. Pluto is five "light hours" away. If you flew to the Pluto instantaneously and took out a telescope and looked back at Earth you would see 5 hours into the past. You would see yourself walking around doing things that took place 5 hours before you went to Pluto. If this technology is true, one could travel 1000 light years away and theoretically look back at earth and see 1000 years into the past. Fascinating indeed

Oh man this is hilarious, I got another email from the author "I got another [bleep]e in my traffic... I take it you were involved somehow" :XD: Heh, I feel like the devil, making people fall into this trap so I can make them use hours of their time and signature space. I think i need to quote IGoddessI on this one: Good for the self esteem, but not for the ego. : Anyway, getting somewhat back on topic. For those that read to the end, anyone have any idea what Emily was going to say before she got interrupted by Ash wanting to check out who fixed the car? -> http://www.misfile.com/?page=793
  6. Chuck Noris can know the exact velocity and location of a subatomic partical AT THE SAME TIME! /Heisenberg uncertainty rule ftw!

I figured I probably should donate a dollar or two to the site, seeing as though I cost him several gigabits of bandwidth through my actions, but I think I'll settle for this spiffy mousepad : Not too revealing and its the sort of thing that puts you in a good mood when you see it. Oh and Rebdragon, hellbellz, I joined the signature trifecta \
  8. Ah, now I see what you were getting at. Oh, and I apologize for jumping the gun on you like that

http://www.misfile.com/?page=609 Reverse Spiral time! :D Oh and I don't care if this sounds girly, but this is probably the cutest doodle ever: Oh man I wish I could draw like that, I just want to give him a hug, lol.
  10. No, your stomach is like a water balloon that can't be tied shut. Sure it can stretch if you fill it with things like food, but if it's full of just water it the sides won't be able to stretch without just pushing the water out of the top of the balloon. If you drink 1 gallon of water, your stomach will quickly pass it on to the intestines. But the stomach can't pass milk it to the intestines until it has digested all the protein in there. Hence, if you drink 1 gallon of milk the stomach can't hold it all at once and it takes ~2-3 hours to digest all that protein. No. Well snow is actually mostly air. Snow only has 1.5 inches of water per foot of snow. So 10 feet of snow is 15 inches of water, about a foot. A lot of this water would be absorbed into the ground especially in places like the Sahara. The rest would melt pretty soon, in the sun in most parts of the world. The net effect would probably be the ocean's rising by about 10 inches. Good question, impossible to tell though since most money is kept electronically these days. My guess is the world's actual cash reserves is about 3/4 that of the worlds GDP (48 trillion). Eh? I don't see the room for debate on this one. If it's engines were going and the treadmill was running backwards to ensure the plane remained stationary, no it couldn't. If the treadmill propelled a plane with no engines, it's would eventually reach a flight velocity but it's tires would loose grip as soon as the force made the pressure was equal to the Normal Force. It would never go airborne, it's tires would just start to slip causing it to slow down until it was able to speed up again, ad nauseum, ad nauseum. No. Newton's law of gravitational acceleration states that you are affected by the force of gravity of an object no matter how far away you are. So even if the entire universe was made of just you and a teddy bear, and the teddy bear was trillions of light years away, you would still be affected by it's gravity. The finger's syndact Yes, they dream the same way we dream--its indistinguishable from reality for them. I think you meant to say can they see in their dreams. That answer is no, dreams are made of past images in our heads mixed in with random thoughts. So a blind person's dream would be just that. Hooray, Coriolis Effect!! 1) When your heart stops flowing blood. 2) GMT +5 3) Because he is displaying the emotion of frustration in pictorial form so people can use it to add humor to an otherwise depressing point they are trying to get accross. 4) Because you are young, bored, and want to draw attention to yourself in hopes of becoming well known on these forums.

Wow, I shudder to think about just how many hours of people's lives I have taken by mentioning that comic. Just from those that posted admitting to reading it in these two threads, I'm probably up to about 120 hours. I think that's a personal record :-w As sad as it is, I must quote Emily on this one: That made less than no sense. Trust me, the comics kind of addictive... *high fives Rebdragon* I have been waiting to use that line in RL :D No kidding, but at least Misfile is updated every weekday instead of most webcomics that fall into that 2 or 3 times a week deal.

Lol, this all totally took me by surprise. Like I said in the other thread, I really didn't think anyone else would be interested in it besides me since it followed my survey. Anyway so I was drinking a cup of tea by my computer, reading over my post. I thought the Misfile crazy would finally die down and I read: "....we should really make a topic dedicated to misfile so this thread isn't so offtopic. edit: I made one" LOL, wow, I don't know why, but I literally had tea coming out of my nose. :XD: It just totally caught me off guard. It's cool that you guys all like it though, I actually emailed the author of the comic last night complimenting him, mentioning my survey results, and saying how half of this board has suddenly taken up interest in the comic. He responded with, among other things, a little laugh and said "good thing I invested in new servers" : He's a pretty cool guy though, if you want to compliment him or ask him something his address is on the site
  14. Ha, Serephurus, that was my first thought as well. Anyway pretty nice story, very detailed. I also spent a summer (or two :anxious:) abroad studying in Spain (Barcelona) where I lived with a Spanish family. I'm curious, is this entire piece nonfiction?
  15. Sounds like the weather was bad. Normally on crusies you can barely tell the ship if moving. Might I suggest a larger ship next time? The Sea Princess class is only 72 thousands tons if I recall correctly, go for the Grand Princess class (110k tons) or try Royal Carribean's Voyager class ships (139 thousand tons). The bigger ships rock much, much less. The Princess Sea/Sun/Ocean/Dawn ships though have probably the best Pizzeria afloat. Top floor of the atrium, tucked away in the corner am I right? Aw man, me and my brothers would just chill there for hours enjoying the smell (and the pizzas!) while reading books or playing cards. Good times. And you were in Barcelona? Aw, man I'm jelous. I spent two summers there studying abroad. I love that city so much, and I know it like the back of my hand. You could seriously drop me off at the edge of the city with nothing but the clothes on my back and I would be able to make it. I know all the metro locations, how to get on with out a ticket, and I have half a dozen friends that live in the city that I could stay with for a while :) Anyway, sounds like you had a decent time, glad you enjoyed it. If your family ever goes on another cruise with Princess, it's pretty cool. 2nd time cruisers are members of "Captain's Circle" which gets you a gold colored keycard instead of the one all the "newbies" are given. You also get a few perks, which increase the more times you cruise. For example after 3 cruises you get free unlimited Internet on any cruises after that :
  16. *nods in agreement* While I was never a fan of mystery novels, I can attest to 'Monte Cristo as a masterpiece of a literary work. If nothing else, it is the best revenge story ever told.
  17. Blasphemy! No one mentioned Tom Clancy yet? This guy knows his stuff. Not only is the Jack Ryan series one of the most famous plot lines in modern writing (Hunt for the Red October, Rainbow Six, Patriot Games, Executive Order, Clear and Present Danger, Sum of All Fears, etc) but his nonfiction books are great as well. By the way, anyone who likes modern combat or has ever played a Command and Conquer game, needs to read "Red Storm Rising". Yes, that's an arrogant sentence, but it is the quintessential book describing how WWIII would play out if nuclear arms were not used. The battle between Russia, the US, Europe, etc is described in amazing depth with modern day planes/tanks/ships having battles across land air and sea. The book was written with such accuracy that soon after it was published Tom Clancy was invited to dine with the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs. Pretty amazing really.
  18. Ha, personally I think 768-773 are gold
  19. Wow, your really liking that comic aren't you? Heh, I honestly had no idea other people would be remotely interested in it, I thought I just found it cool because I was doing research on the subject matter, but lo and behold now half the forum seems to have wasted a good five hours on it :XD: As for your question? I was actually wondering that while I read the comic, both about myself and Ash. One of the reasons I wanted to keep reading was to see if he would eventually give in. Anyway as for myself in that situation? Good question. I think it would be an awkward choice. It's so easy to say "Oh yea, I start wearing mini skirts the first day" but in reality I doubt anyone would. (ha, I love how I describe this situation like it happens to people all the time. ...or maybe it really does :-k ) Ha, anyway, wow ADD here, back on topic. I think the biggest thing stopping me from accepting the new gender would be the thought that one day I might change back. But if I actually had solid proof that this was permanent? Yikes... I think that, yea, I would. Probably gradually at first but by the 4th week or so I think I would give it my all. Well except for dating, I would probably let that wait a year or so. Wait... what? :-s EDIT: Wow this thread is like wildfire. In the time it took me to type this 7 people posted. And a triple digit replies a thread this unconventional? I'm pleasantly surprised. ^_^ EDIT x2: See! Another difference between genders, sure guys look at themselves in the mirror, but I'm pretty sure it's well knows fact girls can really look themselves over in a mirror. Probably the same reason why girls don't mind looking at other girls wearing swim wear while men cringe at other men in speedos. It would be interesting to actually find the root of it all.
  20. You can always try online department stores like Amazon, and even eBay has people that sell new items. As for my disappearance? Well, I have a huge test (the MCAT) next week that I have literally been studying for since May. It takes a huge amount of my free time. But on the bright side, in 5 days it will be over and I should post a bit more often from then on :)
  21. Hey, thanks Goddess, its nice to see one's work appreciated :
  22. You can easily edit the album cover to be any picture you want. Well at least you can for MP3s, not sure about iTunes songs. I'm pretty sure you can though. By the way, Bubsa, I am thoroughly impressed with all the work you have done. So many people talk about doing something, but it is truly rare for someone to take as much action as you have. Seriously man, well done. .
  23. Tbfgraphx14, they're reading a webcomic I mentioned, Misfile. It's actually the source of that picture I put at the beginning of this thread. The basic plot is a guy wakes up one day and discovers he is now a girl. The storyline is surprisingly addicting The comic starts here: http://www.misfile.com/?page=1 If anyone is interested, the other web comic I mentioned that is pretty similar to Misfile is found here. Like I said before, its storyline isn't as solid as Misfile but it has a lot more humor.
  24. Wow, I never thought so many people would actually read the entire comic, thats cool though. I indeed made the mistake of stumbling across it in my final week of studying for the MCAT (huge science test I'm taking on the 20th). First off, it cost me a good 5 or 6 hours to read through the entire thing, but then for the next day and a half while I was trying to study my mind kept wandering back to its storyline. Gah, it incurred the worst ADD I have ever had. That's actually what spurred me to make this topic, I hoped writing a brief synopsis about it in addition to finally posting my survey's findings would help clear it all out of my head. But anyway, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it :
