    SATs

The STEP sounds pretty interesting, what a great concept. I would love to be watching over the shoulder of a John Nash or Steven Hawking taking that test. As for why physics is on the MCAT? Well I am glad it is. There are two types of smart people in the world. Those that study everything but can't think for themselves, and those that study a little bit but are able to think on the fly and logically find the right answers. The latter is your typical "smart but lazy" persona, and the former is typical girl that is getting a 4.0 but never leaves the library and freaks out when something is written slightly different from the way she learned it. Neither of these people would make good doctors. You need both qualities. Hence, the MCAT tests Biology/Organic (brute memorization) and Chemistry/Physics (memorize just a few formulas, but be able to derive new ones on the fly and adapt what you know to solve various situations). The test's method of testing both of these fields, (along with English since many foreigners want to get into the American Med Schools) is quite genius really. Unlike with GPAs or SATs where many people complain "oh, he just took easy classes" or "no fair, SAT just tests IQ", but with the MCAT if someone says they got a 31, you're just impressed, that person is smart and dedicated
  2. LOL, ah, that made my day

    SATs

Heh, heh... I love it when people get worried about the SAT or ACT. Oh noes, it's a 4 hour test! Oh noes, you can't use a TI-89! Ha, I wish I could re-take that thing. You can't even really study for it, I mean, it's all basic concepts and the science section is just graph reading. Sorry to hijack this thread for a minute, but whenever people complain to me about the SAT and just respond with a 4 letter acronym that sends shivers down the spine of anyone who knows what it is. The test I am taking on August 20th. The guaranteed hardest test I will ever take in my life: the MCAT Urban dictionary described the MCAT as: A grueling, terrible 9-hour exam required of all students applying to medical school. It is the hardest and longest of all graduate school examinations. Only the strong-willed and intelligent-minded survive. The exam tests critical reasoning and not just content. So yea, it's like taking the finals for: - a full year of University Biology - a full year of University Chemistry - a full year of Organic Chemistry - a full year of Physics, Calculus based - and then for good measure they throw in a full year of University English So yea, imagine taking an 8 hour test that has questions from anything in those five subjects. Oh yea, and no calculators are allowed. Yea, better get memorizing how to do sin/tangent in your head, and better start learning the values for square roots. Being able to do the quadratic equation in your head is pretty much required. Let me tell ya, studying for this thing is fan-freaking tastic! Oh by the way, the max score is a 45, but the average is a 24 =D> (You only need a 32 our of 45 to get into Harvard. So yea, if you get a 69% on this test, you can get into Ivy League schools :XD: The MCAT prides itself on, year after year, preventing 90% of the people who have aspirations to become a doctor from ever stepping foot into a medical school. Well I know kids that have been studying more than me, but me personally? I have been studying from 10am-9pm Mon-Friday with a two 1 hour breaks... SINCE MAY 15TH!. The test is now only 29 days away... :ohnoes:
  4. Nice to know I get around : Hackedpunk, the house door you are describing, just use the aforementioned method of a long nail to open it. I personally use a the metal pen ink cartridge found in many mid-level pens. Lol @ tootsie roll stick, great idea, that would work as well. Now kinda OT, but whatever... Bump keys are pretty lame, they work but not only do they take the fun out of it, but you need a bump key for each lock type of each company. You need a good 'ol fasion Thirty Two piece lock pick set. Granted an 8 piece has everything you ever need, but why spend $19 when you can spend $79 and get the professional version? :-w /Have personally defeated the following lock companies: Best, Master, Corbin, Russwin, Kwikset, Titan, Yale. //Once did a Corbin using a paperclip and a pen clip as the tension wrench. I don't recommend it :|
  5. Actually the Edgeville dungeon is connected to Varrock sewers, not the members dungeon. Looks like you got them mixed up. But yeah I definitely like the idea. Maybe add a new monster or something in there to peak interest. I stand corrected :
  6. Good idea, that dungeon is really old. You would think it could connect to Varrok Sewers too. I mean, heck, the Members dungeon connects to Varrok and to physically do so would take it right through the Edgeville That doesn't make much sense. They should really connect them all somehow.
  7. Hey is there a place to post/time when you guys repair the temple? I'm trying it now with like 5 people and were having trouble :/
  8. Six years to the day from Melee's launch... how epic
  9. "I want to cure AIDS" is noble but unrealistic. Personally I want to save at least one person's life. Then I will sort of forever live in through them and the kids that they have which would have been nonexistent if that person had died. Figured the easiest way to do this is become a doctor and volunteer in Africa. I'm getting close to my goal, I'm a junior Pre-Med student, taking the Med School admission test in 31 days :ohnoes: /been studying for it since May, average 9 hours a day, 7 days a week
  10. You're comparing the ability to write a cheque to actually saving someones life? Ah yes, and who has killed more people. Hitler or a front line German WW2 soldier?
  11. Bill Gates has given so far about $6.7 billion dollars, and publicly stated that he will give away the vast majority of his wealth before he dies. He stated he wanted his family to be "well off, but not having to deal with the burden of tremendous wealth" How can anyone hate Gates? There are hundreds of billionaires in the world, and only a handful donate in the hundreds of millions. Only two individuals in the history of the world have donated over a billion dollars: Gates and Buffet. You call him greedy, but I am willing to bet that almost everyone on this forum, if we had Gate's wealth, would be more like the other 99% of the extreme upper class: donate a million or two, and then spend billions on luxury instead. Gates provides more than half of the world's Malaria funding. He has saved millions of lives. Graphs from the CDC and the World Health Organization show a measurable drop in world malaria deaths since the Gates Foundation began. This man has saved more lives than Mother Teresa and Ghandi combined.
  12. Does that RL person happen to be you? Har har, okay if you put it that way... two people know those facts. Myself and my partner in crime. :
  13. I have had a phone for 3 years now. I have sent a grand total of two texts. Both times was when I was on a public bus and I didn't feel like rudely talking out loud. *shrug* I only pay $19.99 a month, and proud of it :)
  14. Half the people I know online know that I can pick locks with ease and that I own tactical throwing knives, which I am quite adept with now. Yet only 1 person in I know in RL knows this :-$
  15. Wow that is pretty weird. Both the video concept and the fact that they knew who you were. My only guess is they might have contacted your ISP... or actually since Google owns YouTube, and Google is sort of known for hording info from it's customers, Google may have given your name. Still seems illegal though Oh and I'd remove that link to the article, as you mentioned it has your full real name
  16. I'm in the middle of a self proclaimed collection titled "The Pangaea Project" I'm gathering a stone from the definitive point of each continent, and bringing them all together. Ones I have... -Europe = A piece of the wall of the Throne Chamber in Knossos (oldest castle in Europe) -N.America = Stone from the bottom of the Grand Canyon -Africa = A piece of the Grand Pyramid in Egypt -Australia = A small piece of Ayers Rock Ones I still need... -Asia = A piece of the Great Wall -Antarctica = A rock fragment torn from a glacier -S. America = A fragment of Machu Picchu
  17. I'm pretty much new to tip.it but is Trapical the same person as N0valyfe? Nope Trapical is Trapical everywhere he goes  I used to be really active on these forums, and I had started RS in early 2001. So when the tip.it times started up they wanted to start out with an article on RuneScape's past, and they interviewed me :
  18. The power to transformation into any other living thing. - You could get any women - You could be a hit at parties - You would make a sweet spy
  19. :P, You must have skimmed over it. It was on page four but here is a copy of it: Now Merciful, why are we always at ends with each other? Anyway I asked the question to the deck. Eight of swords was drawn. Eight is a pretty high number, and the meaning of swords was written on page 1.. Question: Is Tarrot a load of bovine manure? Answer: ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅNo, it's as bad as you feared̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  20. I could have told you that and i don't need to pretend that mysticism in cards can work it out. Hey, lighten up man, I never said it was real, I'm not charging people, and I'm just spending several hours of my own time doing this for some fun and laughs. :
  21. Well, thanks for all the replies guys, you're the ones that made it all worthwhile for me to post here. I really appreciate some of the compliments many of you have given me, and I'm glad I helped some of you see things in a different light. I will have a busy rest of the summer but I will try to stop by the forums once a while and see how things are going :)
  22. Woo-hoo! The final readings!! Ah, this will be fun : I asked for lattitude and longitude points. Unfortunately on the draw for latitude I immediately drew a Joker, so that reading is void. Longitude was 93.1112. This narrows I down to two strips of land, one if it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 92 degrees East, one if it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s West. >92.1112 East goes through Siberia (doubtful you will live there), as well as Mongolia and Western China. >92.1112 West goes through Mexico, Canada and the following U.S. states: Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota. What was really, really creepy was when I looked for cities that lie along that line. Look for yourself what lies at 45 North, with your exact longitude coordinates. Wow̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ looks like you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re living in Minneapolis! Well this is interesting, I started by drawing lots of coins. Then I tried to draw a card from the center of the deck, but this other card seemed unwilling to let that card go. I looked at them both and it appears that the King of Coins was preventing me from drawing the Two of Cups. This is a serious problem, it signifies that in the future your quest for wealth will hinder you from getting into a relationship. Be warned. Well, this isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t very exciting Kayla, I draw low coins low cups and low swords. So, no, it appears that you will have little change from your current status in any of those fields. As a follow up question I asked when will any change happen. The answer was 25 days. So in summary, a small change will happen in 25 days, but nothing really significant will happen for quite some time. First draw was the King of Cups, the best answer you could have hoped for :). The second and third draw was a 9 of swords and a 7 of coins, seeming to say that after you are cured a problem will arise, but you will find a solution for this one as well. Yikes! I draw swords! I also draw a fair amount of coins though. :| To me it looks like this job might not go as well as you hoped but you will still make a fair share of money ^_^ I draw an Ace of Cups and Coins. They negate each other and the third draw is the Queen of Clubs. It will be an interesting journey, but you will succeed in the end . ;)
  23. Wow, thanks xvillexvalox, I got a lot of cups : That's pretty cool how the Emperor and Empress were both in their, as was the Lovers. I'm pretty sure that's a sign I need to find a female acquaintance and together we can rule the world! No, but seriously, that was cool. Thanks. Now onto the entire third page... \ Yes, it is a low level yes, but a yes ^_^ 1) Well, I drew a high clubs, so the short answer would be yes. :) Be slightly advised though, while clubs mean ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åyes̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  24. Hmm, any of other Tarots out there want to do me by the way? Heh, I'm curious as to how other Tarot readers are. I will go with the age old question "What is in store in my life in the next ten years, focusing on both love and occupation"
