Chaotic is better than Divine/Elysian
Strength bonus isn't everything for the Chaotic, but I'd still rather use a DFS, because the shield takes like a week of work to get. Eagle Eye isn't made for meleeing, thus the melee penalties. It's made for ranging. The same thing goes for arma. The reason they do this is to discourage meleers from being able to very easily defend themselves against mages whilst fighting back. And yes, I do think that Farseer is the best one of the bunch. But replacing that top with a brassy is a bad move >.> Don't see where you would want to use that.

Solo Bandos Guide
Well, there IS a difference for sure. As for the CLS v Maul comment, there could have been a lot of factors. 1. Bad spec weapon 2. Bad gear (ring? cape? maybe helm...) 3. No overloads/extremes 4. No turmoil 5. NOT USING ATTACK (accurate) STYLE <-- a LOT more important than you'd think, especially from my experience pking with it lol Personally, I've found the maul to be REALLY good at bandos with normal pots. I actually do very well in sub-par gear with normal pots (vskirt, dhide top, dwarven helm, glory, dstone (i), fcape, bgloves, dboots... and I was using EE for spec cause I couldn't find anyone to lend a decent spec weapon lol) Also, with the maul I can flick Soul Split on the boss, because maul hits at the same speed that bandos does. Maybe CLS is better for overloads? Idk. But I'm loving my maul and i'm not gonna have overloads/extremes for a long time unless I get hella lucky soon lol (recent death for 25m in pvp due to a world ddos doesn't help, but I have tons of that death ep left)

C rapier vs C longsword
CLS for sara and DKs, since a shield really helps there. The range def from a DFS really helps against the spinolyps at DKs and Bree at Sara. Also, I know that the CLS is better for dragons because of the stab bonus... But a godsword wrecks them fairly well, too, so I envision the maul being almost as good as a CLS for irons/steels. I will have super antis soon, so I'm probably gonna go ahead and get the maul  For drags, Rapier would beat it because they're very weak to stab, so the faster you hit the better. For DK's, rapier would be better because Supreme's range attack shoots at the same speed as a rapier, which means you can floor click and time it so you can soul split. Also, you'll probably kill supreme pretty fast. Sara. Not sure at all. I'd imagine CLS. However, I usually range sara anyways unless we got like 3 or 4 people... but I usually duo, bring a weapon just incase we get crashed though. But I'm starting to have second thoughts on this whole CLS Rapier Maul debate. I mean, I was looking for a world to duo bandos in, and as we were pottin to go in some 138 with whip dfs overloads and goes in. Note I'm on normal pots... amazingly, I crashed him without a problem. And I didn't even bring a dwarven helm - helm of neitiznot instead. +195 crush bonus ripped it to pieces. The first kill I think I hit like 612, 431, 318 or something. The dwarven helm would have helped though - with a dwarven helm and an onyx ring (i), good luck to anyone wanting to crash if you have extremes. Also, for bandos, maul is great because it attacks at the same speed that bandos does, meaning you can flick Soul Split on it the whole time. In 2 hours of duoing bandos, my maul finally degraded from 100% to 96%. But yeah, that was just pure insanity lol. Being able to flick ss on the boss is pretty nice, and all you have to do is floor click until it swings and attack it. I might actually be getting into bandos solos now... seems like I'm gonna be getting a LOT of kills per trip with a maul. After my friend left I managed to solo 3 on 3 shark and a brew with uni out... mainly because I killed it so fast and ss'ed every hit. Also healed off minions too. Perhaps I'll make a vid on it some time today.

C rapier vs C longsword
Yeah maul is the same speed as a godsword. Could see it being good for teams at GW and TD's for those that like using a GS (you'll probably still want to bring GS for spec btw) Also, since I got the maul, I did the quest for the Dwarven Helm lol. I'm one of those people that believes every bit of attack bonus helps I suppose :P. Probably also helps in the fact that I'm using Gmaul for spec (so I do a cmaul hit then spec with gmaul twice, switch back to cmaul... I've hit some REALLY deadly combos with that, including something like a 410 365... didn't even use the 2nd spec lol) I also saw someone get 3 hit by someone with a maul, proselyte, rune gloves, and str ammy yesterday lol. But yeah, no matter where you are, maul hits so much better on attack style. It still hits on strength, but not as often as I personally would like.

Scroll of augury, low blow to mage?
Yes, I believe they meant Magic and Defence raised by 20% and 25% respectively. Besides, the majority of magic defense seems to come more from your magic level than your defense level (minus the whole better gear argument) and a meleer wouldn't be praying Augury when fighting a mage.

Chaotic is better than Divine/Elysian
We already know that divine>defender at solo bandos. So no, it doesn't end the thread. Also have fun using a rune defender at armadyl or sara! :D PvP possibly. Or training in PvP. For anything like slayer or possibly even a new quest (never know what you'll end up having to avoid) you won't need it. Note that doing DK's for a dagannoth task doesn't apply here -.-
-
C rapier vs C longsword
Yep. Well my friends that wanted to go ended up not going -.- so we might have to wait a bit. From when I tried at td's (though that was only a few kills before I had to go) its too slow for my liking, would rather ls or rapier. then again I was doing it on a laptop which is a lot harder and slower too so that might just be why.

I did, didn't take a screenie though. on another note, I'm busy editting this beast atm. [ig]http://i40.tinypic.com/3585e0j.png[/img] ^bwuk im pb's pure getting speced out. famous people can die! shock news anyway thought he quit+sold up Nah, he got a turmoil rune pure. It's pretty legit too. The original account - Bwuk Im Pb - just sucks now. Either he got rusty or someone else is playing on his account - and for some reason, I think it's just someone else on his account because of the style of pking I see him using. Either way, I've fought him, I've seen other people fight him, and I've seen him get killed way too often now. But yeah, the way I see him pking now does NOT seem like him AT ALL.\ And yeah, the on the back glitch ain't that hard.

Chaotic is better than Divine/Elysian
Alright, before you read my post, I'm going to go in depth on ALL three shields, explaining some of the uses I see in the shields before comparing to divine/elysian. First of all, the Chaotic Kiteshield is a melee shield of course. The defensive stats on it are the highest in the game for melee/range, and is quite good for tanking. The special ability soaks up 20% range and 10% melee, with no affect on mage. It's uses? Bandos tanking is good for this, as the range attack usually hits about 300-ish. However, most people will be guthan'ing for hp or using sgs... so that would mean they're using a whip. The other thing I see it being useful for, is actually Zammy GWD tanking. Yes, you think "but the mage attack" no, our biggest pain here is the boss hitting through melee. Also, there have been methods created to tank the boss using mage pray instead of melee anyways. Suppose you could possibly tank sara if you really wanted but that's kinda pointless imo :P Shield + Staff of Light = possible win? but you'd have to switch people or bring Energy Transfers if you wanted a designated tank. You couldn't do this in a duo either most likely, because you have to keep the Staff of Light wielded. On top of the fact that its hit and run, the argument here is kinda pointless. PvP could be applied here, but you're gonna end up Dscim/ddsing in a BH+1 world, with not much possibility to KO. Could be good for tanking, though. The Eagle Eye Kiteshield seems like an interesting one to me, but it's uses don't seem great. Reduces 20% mage and 10% range. It's about time ranger's get a range boosting shield with defense though. Where do I see this being a possible use? I believe armadyl is the main place to use this. However, I don't think the boss's mage hits above 200 too often. However, it does have some nice stats to it - the mage defense is comparable to spectral. However, you are still getting hit by melee, and so it kinda evens out between spectral and eagle-eye kite. Spectral isn't TOO expensive though. Tanking in PvP could be seen here against a team if you're being hybrided though. The kiteshield could also see use in someone ranging corp with ruby bolts (e) as well. But I think its been proven by now that you should probably just spear it and not ruby bolt (e) it. The Farseer Kiteshield... this is a shield I could see many hybrids getting. Reduces 20% melee and 10% mage. The number 1 use for this shield is, without a doubt, PvP. Hybrid vs Hybrid, you get damage reductions against both attack styles, and range is your only problem (though a tribrid with range and no familiar usually has bad gear or is wasting a lot of spaces that could be used for food). A lot of hits will get reduced here. The other use I see could possibly be Barrows if you want to camp there with no pray. Dharok's won't be very hard with the reduction probably, but the downside is you can't use the black salamander with the shield. Maybe DK's, if you really don't want to pray on Rex or something, but the hits you'll take from him before you safespot won't be too often. So how do these compare to Divine/Elysian? Well let me put out there that I have been able to test both before. Divine definitely beats out elysian in most cases. I personally do not like elysian - I swear, it has a tendency to not block out high hits, but rather all the small ones. The chaotic kiteshield does have that little bit of boosted defense over them. +20 might not seem like a lot, but it CAN make a difference - though it shouldn't be too much. At bandos, it COULD be useful, but the fact that you don't protect any extra on mage makes divine kinda better. Eagle Eye could be compared to spectral, possibly being better. But I think at armadyl it's been proven that divine/ely is better. Farseer would be great for hybriding, and it's got better mage bonus than a Mage's book. Pretty similar to arcane except in Range defense I believe. In almost all cases that I look at, it seems divine and ely are better. The only place I can see a shield doing better is the Farseer Kiteshield when you're hybriding in PvP. However, I believe that Jagex's intent of these shields is to make them cheap alternatives to divine/ely if you can't afford them, and with that, you could possibly bring down the high street price of divine/ely to actually be their GE price. So I believe it was their intent to make these shields NOT as good as the divine/ely, but a little worse while still having some similar effects. The fact that it has to hit above 200 for the effect to work also kinda ruins the shield's uses -- if there was no limit, then there would definitely be more use in the shields, but still not comparable to what a divine/ely can do... MAYBE comparable to elysian though because that 70% chance gets to be annoying.

C rapier vs C longsword
Went against what I was saying, got a maul. This thing is absolutely insane. I'd like to make one correction. Alch value is NOT 132k. It's 79.2k, meaning pvp equipment (non-corrupt) protects over, and claws do too I believe. Barrows does (I found out and investigated once I saw that karil's crossbow protected over the maul) I'd assume that this alch value applies to all 3 chaotic weapons. I'm going to take a guess that the alch value of 132k was based on the "Items Kept on Death" interface saying the maul was worth 132k. However, for untradables (that aren't linked to something - so something like DSpear (kp) doesn't apply here) the actual value is 3/5 of what is shown on the Items Kept on Death interface. You can see this with many things such as RFD Gloves (bgloves, 100k, alch for 60k... skill capes, 99k, alch for 59.4k, etc... even applies to onyx ring which for some reason is not linked - shows as 2,417,562 and alchs for about 1.45m) One thing that you need to do if you're using a maul is put it on attack style. Trust me, it can improve how often you hit by like 10-20%. My friend ended up getting the maul too. We'll be testing these at GW soon. But we need people with rapier's and longsword's to compare it to... especially with similar stats (don't have extremes >.>) I will be getting rapier next, then the longsword. One of the problems with the longsword is that EVERYONE is getting it. So many people in edgeville have the longsword in w65 -.- It's really not that great... I've seen people doing longsword + dds pking and it doesn't seem much different than ags pking. Besides, I've used vls before, and the bonuses on cls is almost the same (barely better) than the vls. How often I killed someone with a normal hit? Not too often. Maul actually has some amazing combo capabilities. I hit probably 70-80% of the time on rune without a dwarven helm (using glory, bgloves, fcape, dstone ring (i) for att bonuses). On welfare? Let's just say someone in dhide with an afro+msb got on me and I hit almost 95% of the time, even hitting a 616 in that mix, and KO'ing him with a 273 through melee deflect. The problem is that, as I said earlier, most people have been using strength style and not hitting. And btw, my maul is STILL at 100% charge. We're definitely gonna need some comparisons eventually though. Similiar gears/styles/pots (I don't have extremes :S) at different bosses would be interesting, though we'll have to also look into duos and solos as well. Not gonna be easy to say. If there's one thing thats obvious though, at least to me, rapier is definitely better for slayer than the other 3.

So I went against my own word and bought a maul instead of a rapier. Jesus christ this thing is fun. Also, lol gmaul Wish I had vidded that, I lolled so hard when he dropped 37% to 9% ep, amazing loot for my EP tbh.

Miasmic can go to 484. And before someone calculates themselves and says "no 503" Zuriel Staff is only 10% and you can't cast miasmic with sol/chaotic staff As for the 643 maul hit, don't like Binu22 that much but gotta give him props for that late switch maul, did not see that coming though I've seen him at w117 dung quite often. Didn't think he'd have it so soon. He really loves his strength bonus though. ALWAYS pking in max str. Figures he gets a maul.

C rapier vs C longsword
Depends how fast you can switch. I'd take preference to the rapier because I've gotten really fast with turmoil/leech range switching with weapons at TD's. Also, with the XP gains at the top right, it's easier to know when to switch. However, for most people, longsword would probably be better. Reason I choose that over the maul is that you can just equip a rune defender the whole time. A lot of people have no idea how much a rune defender saves you time when hitting the shield down with darklight - another reason why I've used whip for a long time. Even if you use a godsword at TD's, bringing a rune defender switch with your darklight is definitely helpful. That's definitely debatable though, cause I can think of pretty equal pros and cons for each. Most people should go for the longsword, but if you're good with FKeys and switching then rapier might be just as good if not better. Duoing, I'd almost definitely go for a longsword. And yeah, you could use maul, but again I'd rather save the space for the defender, and the speed gets a little too slow for my liking there. That's just my personal opinion though.
-
C rapier vs C longsword
Yep, the maul doesn't have a lot of uses elsewhere (could be used in GWD actually, but AGS would probably do better due to having a spec). The maul seems more like a secondary weapon for PvP though (think of it like a 2h ko weapon) or even a third weapon because it doesn't have a spec. Though, I would like to see someone doing dscim, dds, and cmaul pking. If we would have to pay 10-20m to get the weapon back, I really hope they make the items alch for more. Untradables tend to have a standard of alching for about 3/5 of the price you buy it for. All I know is that chaotic weapons have an alch value of like 132k, which would put the value you buy it for at like 220k coins. 200k tokens = 220k coins lolwut? At least make it alch for like 400k >.> 132k doesn't even protect over barrows. I HOPE that this means Jagex is implementing a fast tokens method of getting tokens though. I mean, they even put Onyx Ring (i) at a higher alch value than Divine Spirit Shield, and although they are really hard to get now because of tokkul update... before that, it took 25 hours for the first ring, but 1 hour for each one after. The regular onyx ring alchs for about 1/10th of the Divine Spirit Shield's alch value. None of the other imbued rings seem to have this jump - maybe it's an error where Jagex accidently added a 0 to the onyx ring (i)'s alch value, idk. It's been pointed out many times though that it protects over divine.

Don't you think it's kinda lame and arrogant to have Private Chat set to 'Friends'?
Private Chat is changed based on situation. For a long time during the release of PvP worlds, since I had gotten a lot of brawling gloves and dfh/dfs drops, I was one of the more "well-known" pkers. There were points in time where I couldn't put private on without getting so many people pm'ing me that I couldn't keep up. Now it's kinda died down, especially since my name got stolen (though I've gotten it back now). I will say though, the person that took my name was getting very annoyed with the constant questions they would get from random people thinking it was me. People would ask how they should use brawling gloves and stuff. Nowadays, when I'm pking I'll usually have my chat set to friends. Sometimes people like to go on hunting sprees and try to hunt me down if I annoy them or something. Throwing private chat on friends makes it a lot easier to avoid that. However, when I get a target, I will throw my private chat on to see if they message me. If they're being annoying, I will remove them and delete them off the friends list. I'm sure everyone knows about the targ stuff nowadays but I won't go into it. For those that do know, they'll know why I do so. When doing Dungeoneering, I keep Private Chat on for obvious reasons. If someone DC's and needs to rejoin, and the only name they can remember is mine and I don't have them added, they can still rejoin. My friends list is pretty full, so I can't really add everyone that I dung with. In GWD, I'll keep private chat to Friends, or even Off. Usually I'm soloing, at most trioing, in GW. It's not very easy to help people out when you're killing a boss, lol. Especially if you have to add them to talk to them.

C rapier vs C longsword
Yep. Ardy Cape takes about 90 seconds to get back (have to leave BH, tele yanille, get cape, tele edge, hop back) which makes it even easier. Also with the vesta, I usually pk on Accurate (first style) for the +3 attack to combo more. Which means if I switch to Vesta's Spear I'll be on stab. The Vesta's Spear is almost as powerful as the CLS in terms of strength, but it is less accurate -- however, it has every attack style. The only thing we really need is an easily accessable helmet to use for stab attack. The only helmet there is is the Fighter Helm (aka Eyeball helm), but slash has warrior helmets and crush has the dwarven helm. I supposed this is replaced by the fact that those using stab can use the Ardy Cape, and the only slash/crush increasing cape is a fire cape (+1). Chaotic Maul does have that beastly crush bonus, but for some reason I've seen it be inaccurate. However, I get the feeling that, once again, people that buy it are looking to max and instead of throwing it on accurate, are using strength style. Maul does have a lot of potential though. I saw a vid of someone getting killed with a 643 late switched maul for Arcane/Max mage, claws, torso/tass, whip, etc. (Kristo aka Monster59 gets Binu22'd on youtube) Oh, and some more reasons I want to buy the rapier is because I'd like to pk with rapier+arcane stream in hybrid... but guess what? Fr0 Xd has been ddosing World 65/18 all week. Yes, it is possible, and it has been done (see Cbird Pk Vid 1 "Droppin The World" on youtube). I'd rather not risk arcane stream to getting killed by a world ddos. He could do the same to other worlds if he wanted to as well, and I've had random lag spikes all week, so I'd rather not go to non-protect. Which means I'll probably be reduced to training slayer (which I don't mind at all, tbh - I've been wanting to train it). WIth the rapier definitely being the best weapon for slayer (and me and my friend will be testing it at GWD as well), I'd rather buy a rapier. To xSxqPowerx - Long is definitely going to be better for bosses in bigger teams. In smaller teams (duo/trio) or solo, Rapier has a chance to surpass the longsword. Also, I LOVE dk's. Rapier attacks at the same speed that supreme does, meaning if you time your rapier correctly, you can flick soul split over and over. I've also got the flicking pattern for sara down when healing on minions with whip (flick 4x, don't flick, repeat). Same with a lot of other bosses. With this, it will be a lot easier for me to adapt to using a rapier for solo purposes. I'd like to get all 3 because they all have their uses, but dungeoneering is starting to get REALLY boring. I might just wait for floors 36-60 to come out. The shields have their uses, too. It's a tough decision - I just hope Jagex adds an option to get more tokens by sacrificing the experience you get in a dungeon. Grinding for days at a time is just boring as hell - 2 million experience takes like 6 resets of 1-35 assuming you small rush 1-29 and large 30-35. Not even getting Mobilizing Armies is that bad - It takes 25 hours to get to the rings at first, but once you get the ability to imbue rings, it takes like, at most, 1 hour to get all the tokens back to imbue a new ring if you lose it. It took me about 35 minutes to get a dragonstone ring (i) back. Dungeoneering, you're going through those 25+ hours over and over again. Maybe less than that, but its still a lot of time. Also to whoever says chaotic weapons are expensive to use in slayer, who can't afford to waste 200k/hr? I can make 300k on a farm run and I don't even have My Arm's Big Adventure done. Also, as mentioned earlier, it's not really 10 hours. The percentage tends to go down moreso at bosses than it does doing something like slayer. I think xr3d3mpt1onx or something confirms it on youtube, don't remember the video exactly.

C rapier vs C longsword
I'm going with what people say who have experience with using both weapons. From what I've beed told by these people... Rapier > Longsword, even in PvP. It's like how I can kill people using a gs when I'm using a sara sword - speed can make a huge difference. Also, as someone mentioned earlier, we already have major slash weapons. The reason I want a rapier is because I can keep a stab-focused set-up in PvP without risking my rapier or a ton of money. You can bring higher stab bonuses and use a dds for specs. However, if you want a slash focused with the longsword, what are you gonna use? VLS protects under CLS when degraded (at least I think), GS protects over CLS, Dlong can hit but isn't very good of a KO weapon.. you'll probably be using DDS. Also Rapier + Vesta Spear (corrupt probably) = epic win? They aren't THAT expensive (1m for spear) though still kinda expensive -- something you would use mainly for targets. I'm aware you could use that with the CLS but CLS has higher str with rune defender or an obby shield. I know that most setups have higher stab def than slash def, but barely. But whenever I run into someone using a torso OR vesta, its over - torso has decent slash defense but TERRIBLE stab (like 30 less than slash) and vesta is primarily weak to stab (again about 30 less than slash). This isn't really uncommon to see. So anybody that loves their strength bonus in PvP will be an easy kill for me. Basically what I mean by the above statement is that most setups will have maybe about 5-10 more stab defense over slash defense, and when I encounter something different, unless its statius, my stab based gear will have the advantage. I just see the Rapier having so much potential basically towards stab based setups. ESPECIALLY that rapier + vesta spear combo in PvP. I will say though that the longsword has a little bit of appeal to me because of the fact that I've used 21 Vesta Longswords and it has higher stats than VLS but no spec >.>

13-May-2010 Fairy Tale Part 3 & DirectX Support and Graphics Options
Favorite parts of update: The Barrows has been adjusted so that when stood next to a puzzle door, you will no longer be interrupted by nearby NPCs attacking you. * Fixed a problem where you'd remove the adjacent item from your bank by mistake. The whole DirectX thing * Forcing a tile to flip over in a Dungeoneering puzzle room will no longer result in a warning each time. * In Daemonheim, using a vial on a water source will now fill all empty vials. Also, when smelting ores, it will attempt to smelt all of a particular ore in your inventory rather than just one. * The quick (right-click) option on the Runecrafting altars in Daemonheim are actually quicker now. * The lobby will now notify you if you receive a message in a tab you don't currently have open. * Players should now be able to keep moving while drinking Sanfew serums, which is now consistent with other potions. And of course the no staff fairy ring thing or w/e (that's mentioned in the newspost so I shouldn't have to censor that) The note on Sanfew Serums was the MOST ANNOYING thing EVER when I was hybriding with them. The only thing they still need to fix is summoning potions, and the potions in Daemonheim too. My friend might actually do more barrows now, they have really bad click lag from satellite internet so it made it almost impossible to open a door and I know they like to do Barrows.
