I'm not worried by it.. I'm not sure anyone that's posted is worried about it? Interested defiately, interested in knowing how many people are usually on at this time, interested in what caused it.. evidently a mix of people quitting, power outages, bots not being on, people like me just not really wanting to play tonight because I'm frustrated with the updates, but whether peeople stay or not, runescape will still be here in 3 years, whether these updates change or not runescape will still be here in 3 years. I'm interested to see what the low point of numbers will be, and what jagex's reactions to it would be if there is a low number problem at all. But worried? no EDIT: It does seem to be slowing down some now.

Nice site, it's hard to tell as you say, but on 7 30 and 90 days it doe seem to be very low, but need at least a day or 2 to see for sure.

As many people have said age doesn't always = wisdom. 1st look up sarcasm. 2nd shorten your initial uneccesary post to "don't tell me what to do" Saying "don't tell me what to do over the internet" implies you are willing to accept being told what to do, through other mediums. ie: the phone.

When I made the initial post I was on the phone with a friend, we started watching it at about 110k.. When it was 110k I said I hope it gets to under 100k so I can screenshot, she said it's constant every refresh so it will, I remember saying well it has to stop dropping at some point. Didn't ever expect numbers in the 50k's It has been 200+ a min as lak mentioned for 3 hours str8.. I know numbers usually drop at this time, but it cant keep going at that rate .. has to stop sooner or later lol. What do you think the low number wil be?

Initial post is pretty much exactly 3 hours ago. over 40k less people on than the initial post, so yeah been steady at over 200 a min for last 3 hours.

You honestly think they're having a large impact? 300,000,000 peoples in US (completely ignoring other countries, which are a big part of RS) 200,000 usually online 300,000,000peoples/~200,000players = 1500 people per one RS player 500,000/1500 = ~300 people in that group. HUGE difference. This may have an impact, but there's obviously been a huge loss due to the sucky update. Nice point. although hasn't the average house like 2.4 people or something? so you'd need to multiply by 2.4.. still less than 1k people lol does anyone have a link to how many homes are actually down now? maybe a news or weather site that mentions it, because I can't find anythhing on the web saying how many homes are currently without electricity.

Thanks for the post. I have to agree, I think it is mainly down to PK'ers not playing, a level of bots not being on and maybe a few other smaller factors. Please don't turn this into a right or wrong thread, I agree, I dont personally like update but there are plenty of posts discussing whether the update was right or wrong. I'm more interested in knowing if this is down to people not playing because they are upset with the update or if there is some other reason. If it's because people ar eupset that is a huge statement, literally 50% less players tonight than an average night. Whether they are right or wrong.

Yah probably a mix of a few things, it's now down to less than 60k players tho. about 90k less than usual at this time. It is late in the U.S. and I cant see all 90k players less that are usually on being from those 600k households. over 50% of RS players who r usually on at this time of night all cant be from that area. It is definately a valid point as a factor tho.

The "kids" are crying because they are upset Jagex has ruined an important part of the game for them. Grow up you guys, taking out PK'ing ruined thousands of people's main activity. I'm normally on RS right now but I'm not simply because I don't know what to do. Just because it hasn't affected you yet or won't affect you doesn't mean you need to be such snots. The "protest" did seem big. I was in one channel, completely unrelated to the other and heard about it, then a couple minutes later heard it in another. Lots of people heard the message. And from a nocturnal player there are normally 150-200k on at this time. Thanks lak, nice to see someone on topic, I thought it was about 150k. at this time usually, It dipped to 65k that's unheard of. To the people who hijacked this post, I couldn't care less about if you watch family guy or south park, I couldn't care less if you are over 20 or under 20, I couldn't care less if you think people are crying or if you agree with the update or not. It was to talk about the numbers online and whether it was the update or another cause as to why people are not online. Did I mention whether I agree with the update or not? Yeah, only problem is that you can't do boss monsters come January, since of 3k limits, and no splitting it equally between teams. I really can't solo a boss monster. Sorry, but i fail everytime. Solo PKing died today, no clan no pking.

bots not being on is an interesting point, it is under 65k now :-o Again school night is a moot point, it's a school night 5 days a week. I don't remember seeing numbers below 65k at this time, in a long time? As before I am not saying I'm right, just saying at this time I havent seen such low numbers in well over a year without there being server issues. If I'm wrong just say nah ur wrong, not oh people watch tv, or go to shool or work, or eat food, because it's kind of obvious they do that, they do it most days every week, it's no explination as to why numbers would be different to any other school day at this time.. If the numbers are no different just say that, but dont try to explain it with things that happen all the time. Now the bot point was very interesting. Also isnt it the start of Asia / Australasia prime time?

I was more asking to make a comparison with normal days.. I haven't seen below 100k people on at this time in a longgggg time, am I just wrong in thinking that? Saying people might be watching TV or asleep is kind of a moot point, because people are always sleeping or watching TV at this time, if you said oh there is a major sporting event on or an amazing film was just released that would effect the number, but family guy is on every week :-/ now below 80k

under 100k players online now, usually over 150-200k at this time of night... not a bad protest if it is one.

(title edited as numbers dropped initial post not). nearly below 100k players online. 102k people online now, dropping 50 literally every refresh.. I've haven't seen it this low at this time of day in years.. is anyone having problems logging in, or is it all due to unhappy people?

I think one thing that doesn't help is a lot of the complainers right now are clan / tagging etc.. PK'ers & part time PK'ers the same people who go crazy on every single update there has been. It is funny my first post on tip was a rant, about people never being happy with updates and crying all the time. I initially read all the updates and diaries and thought it seemd quite a good idea, I have no problem, I support Jagex for trying to stop real world trading, I have no problem with the fact they made the new areas. I too have always hated teamers / clans taggers etc etc, who think bcause they have numbers they are somehow better than you. I spend about 75% of my time in f2p wild on this char, about 20 % on p2p wild on a different char and the other 5% outside of the wild. When I read that they'd gotten rid of teleblock I was extremely happy, at last they must have stopped teleing, and when I got there they had indeed. The whole time I was reading the updates I was excited but worried, I have sometimes thought an update was wrong before, but I have always given them a chance, some I still dont like, but I have no problem with them being in the game, I know there are parts of the game I like and others don't and vice versa, however the reason I was excited is because the updates I think are a step in the right direction. iE: no teles in the fighting areas, the different targets so its not always people 10 lvls above that attack you. all great. Freeing up the rest of the wild so people can do clue etc.. with difficult foes, but at least known threats. All good stuff. The thing that worried me? would it be single or multi combat.. Walked in it was multi combat was attacked by a clan straight away. (luckily a bad clan I was able to run to door). Then I reealised the part of the game I have played 6 years is just gone. OK it's just a game, maybe I'll find something else I enjoy on here, if not I probably will quit, I dont mean that in a OMG this is so bad I'm gonna quit way, I mean if there is nothing else I enjoy in the game, I shall probably just not log on again it wont be a big issue or something I have to tell everyone even people that dont know me about lol. But Right now I am very annoyed at that, I feel I have every right as does everyone else who only PK's on RS. They may lose a few thousand members maybe even over 10k, I doubt it but maybe, It wont matter to RS, indeed it wont matter to anyone who doesn't quit, it probably after a while wont even matter to those that do quit. But right now I think every Solo Pker has a right to rant.

Monster hunters took a massive hit Drop parties gone Presents (pretty much) gone the abyss is now so safe its a joke, say what you want pkers helped keep prices down wildy rune mineing, pretty dead wildy clues, dead wildy replaced by a shame thats both redicusly safe (rc) then ott (rune) how can your friends return stuff for you in places like armadlys room?? Are we looking at the same game? Well IMHO, there never was much of a pker thing ongoing anyway anymore. Allow me to explain; Go in the wildy....to see ONE white dot....rare...I did 5 clues yesterday while slaying...5....white dots I saw? two...both seperate, and both ran as soon as they saw my lev....go outside of the wildy....white dots everywhere, heck its hard to find a quiet spot......so which should have the priority for consideration?...the .1% pkers....or the 99.9% skiller/slayer/trainers?....think about it...it may be the end of pking as we know it....but in reality, it was a waste of space. Time to move on and make the game enjoyable for the 99.9%. Yes I know, that number is purely pulled from the thin air.....put not to far off I think when you look at the number of players overall. SO people don't have the right to be annoyed at it because they are now a minority? I (no doubt lots of people say this) started playing RS 6 years ago. Personally I'm sorry but I see no point whatsoever in gettting lvls purely for the sake of getting lvls.. thus why 6 years and so many lvls under 50. and pretty bad combat too. You may see a reason in having lots of gp? you may see a reason in getting lvls to kill higher monsters to get higher lvls to kill higher monsters etc.. but I don't I see that as no skill just repeating an action. PKing was a skill, as you say PKing was dying anway, but it started dying on the day RS2 was realeased.. why? because it as a lot harder to get a kill solo PKing and a lot easier to die solo PKing due to clans. So yeah over the years maybe we have become a minority, but a lot of PK'ers have been playing RS a very long time most I know since classic, ok a lot of people rant, but did we care when people went and got 126 in 3 months in PC? no because usually its after they got 126 that they came in the wild and donated their items to us solo PK'ers cos they come in acting so big and mighty, but levels don't equate to PKing skill, PKing was perhaps one of the widest skills in RS that doesnt have a level. The amount of knowledge a good PK'er has about the wild and tactics is vast, compared to say a dragon killer or kalphite killer or farmer or woodcutter. Fine you may think us wothless because you got PK'ed by a group of 12 year olds, but that's exactly why I love the wild, No matter how good someone thinks they are you can kill them. they can kill you, ok you get a lot of lure teams, you get a lot of clans who have no idea about the wild at all, except group attack or tag teaming. But those people will still be in the wild or the "new wild". It's solo PKing that died today. Skillers all cried their little hearts out when low levels could fish and mine etc.. because of assist, they cried so much over something so trivial Jagex changed it. Solo PK'ers and there is lots of us, usually only play Runescape to PK, they are the people that are upset, they have lost the whole reason they have to play this game, there is no longer a reason. So yes they are upset and have every right to be upset, minority or not. To us this isn't something trivial like ohhh a guy with low fishing can catch shark now :-((. It's the entie reason we play runescape. you sir have the same, "lol ur dead omg owned rofl", attitude of the 12 year olds you seem to dislike in the wild. Solo Pking just died, the whole reason a lot of players play has just gne, and ur sitting there saying lol owned c ya. But TBH most of those 12yo pkers that killed you probably wouldnt have come on here saying how happy they are solo PKing was broken because they were once killed by a lvl 125, I'm so sorry for you, that you once got killed by a few kids and so happy you can now go in the wild without fear of being killed, because that's what the wild should be of course a nice safe place for lvl 125's who dont like being killed.

maybe it'll take you reading those 5000 rants before you have an iota of why people are unhappy? It's the solo Pk'ers who can no longer exist, the yapping 12yo's who team and hang round wih their 20 mates and go OMG I own u, they are OK, they still have somewhere to PK. It is the Solo Pk'ers that have no point in playing the game anymore.

just a mention on slayer monsters dropping lots of nats, I'm only 40 odd slayer but can get 1k nats a trip from basilisks, I dont know about others but they are definately a common drop from basilisks, which slayer monsters do you train on regularly that dont drop nats, (or to a certain extent which dont you train on as that maybe where the nats are). prices: gold bars up most gems up mith bars up willow logs up onyx bolts up (maybe a contentious one but i spent months trying to sell and ended up selling on exchange easily at a higher price than I was asking b4 exchange). just a few things that pop to mind, im sure there are many more, there is no denying that overall more prices are dropping than rising, but it is anything but a market collapse or crash, gp is still changing hands at a fast rate, I know a lot of people who are buying like crazy on some items while the prices are low. While prices are low also, wealth is re-distributed, more low levels are getting better prices for things like nats, sapphires, gold etc, where as things high levels would make/collect like rune armour shark etc are dropping.. low levels having more money and high value items dropping in price means that sooner or later low levels will be able to afford items they once couldnt, prices of shark will soon rise again when they drop to a point that low levels can afford them, if they are bought by low levels there is less available for the higher levels or pkers who require more of them, these people will soon start offering max price when they cant get them straight away, add to that people will fish them less as they make less money. Prices will find their natural level, there is no crash just re-balancing. Fine some some merchants wernt clever enough to realise that Jagex make most of their updates on Mondays and it was announed early in the month that there would be an exchange. If they got stuck with a lot of stock that has lost value well they wernt exactly good merchants, I am no merchant but I am a 99 cook, I cleared my bank of shark on the sunday before exchange was released, it was obvious the price was going to bomb. As mentioned before there are plenty of ways to make money merchanting still, everyone should be happy, only people who cant really be happy are merchants who didnt have the foresight to sell sell sell.
