  1. sorry this is completly off topic, I normally try to not post off topic. But dang bbc3. I was just reading the first post and thought wth is that, theres a fly or something on my screen (32" so sit quite far away lol), I looked at it for a few seconds waiting for it to buzz off, thinking omg wth is it doing, then jumped up tripped over my shoes that I'd just kicked off and almost fell head-long into my monitor trying to rush there and stop the little bugger smearing it or anything lol. OK probably my own fault for having such a large monitor and sitting so far away, but dang that avatar looked real. I even touched it before I was sure it wasn't there.
  2. I think it's just a matter of adapting, a lot of the more common items were always this cheap or cheaper if you were a merchant. For example natures (or gems or laws, lobs, shark, str pots or ores etc etc), people would go onto f2p buy natures in dribs and drabs from f2p'ers in varrock w1 at silly prices.. say 150 or 200ea then sell on members for 300+ea, you'd see them all the time. Now these people can sell directly to the exchange there is no need for the middle man and prices have found their more realistic level. A lot of items that were easily available were often bought by merchants at prices much lower than the GE price today and sold at prices much higher than ge today because merchants know they can make a profit buying 100 or 200 at a time, when people working on skills or whatver want 1k.. 10k or 100k at a time and didnt want the bother of looking around, the prices are just balancing somewhere in between now. A lot of items have stayed around the same price.. law runes pop into my head for one. The price crash shouldn't effect anyone too much, you can see how low my non-combats are, but I've found making money far easier in the past few days than I ever did before off of my non-combat skills. I also merchanted a couple of items I couldn't refuse. I have stopped doing this now as it was getting repetative and I'm not a GP junkie, more a PK junkie (thus why such bad non-combats). I dont want to ruin it for anyone else who might still be doing it, but basically there is an item on the exchange that if you buy it, do something to it that takes less than 10 seconds you can sell it for 40k more than you bought it, the unmodified version was easy to buy and the modified version sold like hotcakes. I made over 4m in less than 20 mins when I first found it. The item is still proitable I think tho maybe more people hav realised this now. I'm sure a few more people would have found it since. There were quite a few other things I made a quick profit on too, either buying off the exchange and selling outside or buying off and selling on. As I say I am not a merchant, I don't see a pont in having more money than I need because the only stats I work on are combat and cooking. G.E. is an amazing update, I've been wanting simular for years now to save time and hassle and so I dont have to go on w2. If merchants are unable to adapt I question the fact they were ever merchants, they maybe stumbled across something that made a profit and stuck with it, because to me part of being a merchant is market adaptability. If they're unable to adapt to the market, they are not merchants. If as you say the whole market is crashing, well for the average player that makes no difference. The main problem in the real world when the markets crash is the fact people have debts, banks have debts, companies have debts, even those in profit often need liquid cash, runescapers shouldn't really have debts, there are no interest rates. If all prices on the market drops, well what does it mattter? people will make less money, but items will cost less.. no big worry. One question I have do you think Jagex have capped bottom prices on some items, there are a few things that seem to have stopped at exactly the old price of nats below their high alc value, yet you can still buy them really easily at bottom price for days now. EDIT: sorry for such a long post and excuse the typos, they are mainly due to my keyboard batteries running out, as you can see they are nearly all missing letters, so please no learn how to type/spell posts :P
  3. equally as many bots that I have seen have nonsence names like fkdtd6f, eflusrur8, etc.. I don think there would be a way of stopping those :(
  4. I wouldnt worry about ping not working on runescape.com using windows+r that's normal. when you say you tried reinstalling firefox.. did you uninstall firefox completely first including folder etc, if you just installed without uninstalling it would have kept the same settings. does seem strange that swift would work but not ie and ff. Have you done a full spyware and virus scan etc? I know it may seem a stupid queestion as it would probably come up that there are no problems if swift works, but have u clicked "diagnose connection problems"? also any errors in your system logs? simple thing that no one's asked yet, have you blocked them with your firewall? or has your firewall automatically blocked them?
  5. how come NPC's can move diagonally yet if I try and trade an NPC the other side of a barrier I still walk sideways like a crab, or if an npc moves into the diagonal swuare to me as i click trade or pickpocket it says... I can't reach that. Or if I attack someone in the wild who's diagonal to me we do a silly little dance. till we face eachother straight on. Or if I want to run to something that is clearly exactly north west, i'll run north then west then north then west. Ok I can move diiagonally but if it's one square off of the perfect diagonal route, ur screwed, it'll run the worst possible way to that spot. put a couple of trees in the way and you better hope that you're not following anyone becuase they'll be gone, as you stand admiring the tree. (great in the wild). they should stick to fixing player characters movement b4 they fiddle with NPC's. It does seem that I walk sideways a lot less than when Rs2 was released, but man i hate it.. I still look like a .....
  6. Sweetshop labor? That must be bad, being forced into selling sweets. Surely there's laws against things like that? Do they get paid in skittles?
  7. As a lot of other people have mentioned, it makes no sense to complain that pc is giving less experience and then to say the updates make the game easier. Personally I still think PC is too fast. A lot of people spent a lot of time training and working on their combat levels, then along comes PC, 80% of current 126's got 90% of their exp in PC, it was a complete joke, Soooo many 126's now. Most are PC products. I don't blame them for doing it, but it was stupid of jagex to take so long to fix it, 126 doesnt really mean that much anymore. Still one good by-product of that, a lot of them reached 126 and went in the wild for the first time ever in their RS lives as soon as they hit it, donating their stuff to lower lvls like me who spend the majority of their time since lvl 10 in the wild.
  8. I dunno where he'd go, maybe smithing he was 4th I think? one of the first few at a lot of skills, whitemagem.
  9. why is stereotyping always made out to be a bad thing? not sure I agree with the OP's post, but it's the same reason if you visit a f2p town it seems so much worse than a P2p play town. The average age of p2p'ers is higher than that of f2p'ers Children are usually childish.. childish = behaving like a child please dont any kids take offense there are some extremely mature young people on here. but when it comes down to it, to act like a child is to be immature, thus a child being childish is perfectly normal. Yes that's stereo-typing but it is also a good old fact, childish = behaving like a child. I'm not saying that is a bad thing,, if they didnt act like children what would they act like? let them act like that it's their nature, stop moaning about it if you want to play a game that is played by all ages, then you have to deal with the fact children play (tho legally they shouldnt under 13).
  10. I find your posts quite interestng q very well thought out and usually I agree with them to a certain extent. However I dont find them particularly objective. You have a point of view and seem to write only from that point of view, as I said very well written, very well thought out with some clear and concise points, just very one sided, which would probably qualify more as a rant due to the 1 sided nature. It is a very fine rant and has very few points I concede that disagree with, but even the title "soapbox" suggests rants would be a more suitable place to post this. I think this post should include some words on AFK'ers, They don't strictly pass as bots, but they are still cheating and it is expressly against the rules. It is very hard to tell who is afking and who is say, lagging or just browsing another page. Signs of afking are simular to those of being a bot, broken up with the odd bit of talking. But even harder to prove due to the fact afk'ers do not use software to cheat. I do not report AFK'ers, in the long run I would possibly get banned myself for mis-using the report function, because it is so hard to prove. I did have one the other day that was in a multi combat area, moved very very occasionally to pick up the drops, they were showing to everyone else before he picked them up. Eventually the NPC's stopped attacking and he logged out. He then instantly logged back in, ran out the room and back in, nothing attacked him, he ran back out again, came back in this time they did attack, again he stood in the same place etc, I eventually asked him to stop afk'ing. Now I had no proof, I had no way of proving he wasnt lagging or hopping between pages or just playing the game half asleep. He didn't know what afking was so I explained and he admitted that he had been in the kitchen cooking. I said this was against the rules, he asked me to tell him the number of the rule so he could look, I did so, he apologised and he didnt leave his computer again the time I was there. I maybe should have reported, but he really did seem ignorant of the fact he was doing anything wrong. Now what would have happened if that was say you, and you were in fact reading and posting on your forum (as you said you were whilst spinning?), you are not away from the computer and therefore not breaking any rules, you then think omg people accusing me, I havent done anything. Then you would come on tip.it and make a post about how annoyed you are that you keep getting accused of being a bot. Well think about it, what is the best way to get someone to prove they are not a bot? to get them to talk? best way to get them to talk? make them think they are about to be reported for being a bot. I know it must be annoying, but I'd rather 100 people were accused and not banned if it catches one bot, than get like me and not bother reporting because you now nothing is ever likely to happen. I used to report all the time, but after 6 years of playing and never having had a bad mark against me and only reporting obvious infractions of the rules, I've had only one reply to say something was done. I had one guy threatening to kill my family in real life, rape my mother, swearing etc etc etc etc, a very obvious breakage of the rules, I and numerous friends reported him several times a longgg time ago, nothing ever happened. I'm sure he's still threatening people now. The problem is not how often you get accused of being a bot, it's that after 6 years Jagex are still completely ineffective at stoping them working on the system, they did have periods after new updates where the problem subsided, but they have never beaten the bots, I hope beyond all hope that this future update will make a big difference. If there were no bots, why would anyone accuse you of being a bot. This is a fruitless conversation, Jagex will never ban people from saying are you a bot? No matter how much you hassle them. Hassle them to get rid of the bots and you'll find accusations are few and far between.
  11. You're a what? :?: OP I ask again if it is a virus or even if it's only malware, could you please code the link so it is unclickable. As you can see people are already clicking.
  12. What I was saying is on the vista experience thing on RC2, b4 vista was released I seem to remember there being something on the experience thing that can compare it to other simular computers. maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember it. It wont make the card magically better but it might give an idea what laptop cards perform better.
  13. could u code it like above so people dont click on it? virus or not, it's probably best it's not hotlinked.
  14. yeah some info would be good. for now do u have or know anyone with a usb keyboard? a lot of wireless ones are. not going to be able to do much trouble shooting if it crashes everytime u touch a key.
  15. it does sound like a windows problem rather than hardware, as the bios recognises them but lets start with the basics.. what's ur mobo? are the chips all the same frequency. have you run a memory checker? have you swapped the order of the chips? are they paired? ie 1gb 1gb 512 512 (rather than matching branded pairs) which chip is closest to processor. are any of them high density. are they definately all seated properly? I know these are pretty basic questions, but you wouldnt believe the amount of times i've tried to help on a post, spent hours just to find out someone had the wrong ram or a mobo that only accepted a certain amount of memory max etc.. so best to start with the basics I always think. isn't remapping generally a 4gig+ issue? he only has 3 gig. if all those are good then it is definately windows related, we'll go from there.
  16. Those benchmarks are just a guide, they can all be green, but you're card can still be below what is required. This is quite often the case on laptop graphics cards, so little room to make the cards decent, that's probably as good as it will get. wasnt there a way to compare with simular systems on vista thing or am i thinking of something else.
  17. Are you by any chance using windows vista? best thing would be to make sure your computer is completely up to date, your motherboard drivers, windows updates etc etc Check you system log for any errors that may be occuring. Check your router log for any errors have a look online to see if your local exchange is congested. Cant really give any advice on the connection itself as you havent mentioned what you have? as everyone always mentions run a full spyware scan with something like spybot, uninstall useless plugins off of your browser. Internet explorer on vista can seem to hang when you first put a site in, because of all the safety checks etc, turning some of these off ie: phishing filter will help your general connection. what browser do you use? will try and help more if you give some more info.
  18. If you want to have music on your site, best to have a play button, so it only plays if people choose to play it. basically a radio. That way it doesn't annoy those who dont want to hear it, and wont slow people down. Worth getting a compression tool to shrink the music, although you can embed a song directly on the page which will run through media player, as you are using phpBB I'd suggest looking for a radio mod.
  19. Given this, I must not be human.
  20. reload?
  21. quote of the day! Thx for speaking on my behalf, but maybe you should stick to speaking on your own behalf.
  22. I only asked the way to Lumbridge (fally)
  23. are u lot just carrying your argument over multiple threads. Or do you honestly believe you're still on topic?
  24. Ok you know it's a gravestone and not a wall dont u? :)
  25. lol that's like most things on the exchange. If something sells fast it means there are a lot of people trying to buy it... Thus if you try and buy you will be placed in a queue, you wont get one until everyone in front of you in that queue has got theirs. So it will be hard to buy. There are some exceptions that are both easy to buy and sell. but that is the nature of "rares" they are rare, not many sellers lots of buyers = easy to sell hard to buy.. end of conspiracy me thinks.
