Dissections?(Warning, graphic pig pictures on pg3, no blood)
menot replied to Lionheart_0's topic in Off-Topic
first thing i dissected was a locust. that was WEIRD cuz aswell as being the first thing, you could see under the microscope that they were still moving (due to nerves being stimulated or something, or POSSIBLY the top ones in the jars that they were prepared in wouldnt die totally) i've also dissected a fair few other things over my degree, but i cant remember most of em. um... some kinda red wormy thing that lived in water... we had to catch em first :-) that MIGHT have been so we could see their DNA under the microscope, but i doubt it that was probably a different experiment. lots of eggs (to see the developmental stages of a chicken embryo.. its weird when all it is is a little thin bit that you can barely make out, with a few blood vessels, but already you can see a BEATING HEART) theres others, i just cant remember what they are lol. -
You can't beat age of Empires 2? No offense, but that game takes a while, but is pretty hard to lose at, even at the hard difficulty settings. For me: Sonic Spinball for the Gamecube on a Sonic the Hedgehog collection disk. It is pinball except with Sonic as the ball. There is no saving, and I got to about the 5th level multiple times, it takes hours just to get that far. lol yep i remember sonic spinball.. i had the megadrive version of it on my PC (with an emulator) this allowed me to save the state of the emulator, rendering that game POSSIBLE. so i did finish it :-) according to wikipedia there were only 4 levels.. the sewer one, the lava one, the machine one and the boss one. if the one you were on had lots of places to fall off the bottom (i think) and a giant airship kinda thing at the top, with robotnik inside, thats the final one. iirc its pretty easy once you get IN the airship, but generally the game is VERY hard, especially with limited lives.

im for thoroughly justified animal testing.. if animal testing is the only way, or by FAR the most effective way to test something USEFUL (ie. something that will actually benefit society) then im all for it. when done humanely etc of course. http://www.pro-test.org.uk/ a protest group protesting FOR animal testing for scientific and medical advancement. i believe they started out in response to a march by ~100 animal activists protesting against a new building at oxford university, and had ~1000 people marching pro-test.

going even more retro... i remembered one which i did EVENTUALLY finish. on the amiga.. gravity force. it was a flying your little ship around, collect the cargo and take it back to base game, with loads of different enemy ships/turrets, magnets, HEAVY cargo, etc etc. no health, so one touch of a wall, or one shot, or land too hard and your dead. good fun but frustrating.. still remember all the passwords: agnus parsec crystal reactor vision orbit palace alien falcon

lol i had lion king on the PC. i could do the entire game pretty easy, but could not beat the final boss dude. (fighting on the top of the pride rock or whatever. i memorised teh whole run away from the wildebeast thing, as well as most of the other levels lol

yea i mostly just made massive cities and out-scienced everyone.. i think i usually had too few cities too slowly. i do remember getting a city up to size 46 or so on civ tho.. 10 mill pop ftw! weird thing was it was an enemy city before i took it over.

with your logic you get a little less than 8 fire towers per upgraded rocket tower (8*50=400), which means that they'll do 8*75=600dmg, with slghtly higher fire rate but much shorter range, so that's hardly gonna be an increase in damage... All Fire Tower method? A fully upgraded fire tower costs 50 + 75 + 100 + 150 = 375 coins and does 400 damage, while a fully upgraded rocket tower costs 390 coins and does 2,000 damage. How does building fire towers instead of rocket towers help? But, fire towers do splash damage. which means they hit more than one target every time. especially if they're slowed down with water towers and walk in little groups. That makes them better than rocket towers, or have I missed something here? fire towers at the top upgrade hit 4-5 enemies (i think), even without using water to group them up. thats 1600-2000 damage per shot, and they are faster than rocket towers. they are also able to damage enemies somewhat outside of their range due to the splash effect.. i have yet to properly try using water towers and rocket towers, or really do much with water towers.. (i expect that they are best at the start to group enemies together asap).

i dont tend to worry bout the bosses.. you only lose 1 life if they get round, and some money, so its not like their going to kill you, unless your really short on lives
-
problem is it makes it too easy once you got the hang of things... i could have bought 421 extra lives at the end of my game..
-
yea he does.. they are wayyy too cheap anyway :-) my score above was without buying any lives, and not using the new earth things though.
-
i found this seperate to this thread yesterday, and im not convinced combo towers are the best.. fire towers are very nice :-) i've won it without too much difficulty... 30k hitpoints on the last level :-) i just get fire with the first wood, and extra interest from then on.. cant remember what score i've got yet tho, i'll try again soon. edit: they've added boss levels... gotta see what their like, and the new improved earth towers. edit 2: scored 28491, 182nd in the leaderboard for now.

i used to have a whole book of these english/american things called something like "americans guide to speaking british" cant remember many out of it though, apart from in some places you could ask to "bum a [bleep]" meaning borrow a cigarette, otherwise well... im sure most people can work that one out

Explain that some more, Sounds interesting. Surely you must go somewhere? I mean, It's hard for me to grasp. But.. Well.. I don't see how you can just stop. You must go on somehow I assume. like korla said, its probably more you want to believe theres something there.. you certainly dont HAVE to go on. heres a (very bad) analogy for you: you are a ball. before you're "born" you sit at rest at the top of a hill. at some point, you're given a little nudge downhill. (birth) eventually, you're going to reach the bottom. now.. this ball doesnt HAVE to keep moving does it? once it reaches the bottom it is going to stop. im not one to believe that the "mind" is somehow seperate from the "brain". I think when the brain stops, the mind stops. hey maybe there isnt "endless nothingness", you just cant experience it :-)

um.. sin city for the first one?

i would suggest the random factor wouldnt be a fixed amount, but instead say, do (random number between 1.5 and 2.5 x attack) / d
