  1. I'd say that it's an average cross-section of all of the gamers ages. You might have one thats 15, and one thats 50. It doesn't really matter though, as age means nothing in a MMORPG. It's how old you ACT that counts. Thats open to debate.
  2. Thats REALLY cool. I used to go down to that mine all the time to powermine, but would always sell the iron/silver to the goblin dude, because of the hike. Awesome, thanks for the tip.
  3. By "shut them up", you actually mean that it will shut thw WHINERS up until they get to level 30, get bored, and decide they NEED a new quest. I honestly don't know how people can try to tell us F2P NEEDS anything at all. The only updates they should get are game-balance ones.
  4. Very nice idea, I like it. I doubt it would be F2P though, even if implemented, because... well, it's just not practical.
  5. Seconded. My [developmentally delayed]ed wireless is slow as a bitatch (thus, I have to play on low detail with broadband :|), and likes to spontaniously drop out, usually when I've just beaten the snot out of something, and thus losing a rare drop of some kind. So, making me go through that process to log in, would just make me realise "why do I bother", and throw the wireless out.
  6. Runescape is NOT in the middle age! it was designed that way Were there lots of Sentry-Canons in the middle age? And just look the load of machines u can find in the game! Well, I seem to remember my great great great great great great... (etc) uncle owning a "party hat". It was written in his journal. I think the darkages killed the party hats, and all the other tradable rares. So now, every Christmas, there is a "cracker drop" at our party, to remember the days of our rich, rich ancestors.
  7. Yes but you can't ride them, whats the point in having a horse if you can't ride it. Herblore exp FTW. Horses/Unicorns are there to look good and add to the at-mos-phere. Say it with me. Atmosphere. Very good. Now, what have we learned?
  8. Wonder, thats the best soution to inflation I have heard yet. Have you sent this idea in to Jagex, because it's a damned good one... Combined with a money sink to get rid of the majority of the current money in the game, and we're getting somewhere.
  9. No. You posted the tired and true "They shouldn't be rich because they held onto it" line, which means nothing. Nobody KNEW it would happen initially, so that people didn't intentionally do it, thinking "haha, I'll rip noobs off". Happened to a small degree with the masks, but only REALLY with the santas did people start hoarding them. Besides, a lot of old folks that DID get masks/p-hats on the day have long since left. You point out that there IS a problem, because at the moment, there is no evidence.
  10. Lets just get rid of them altogether. No matter how they are done, someone has to have their little soapbox about whats wrong with it, so why bother? Oh wait, thats right, because it's supposed to be fun, and someone ELSE will be up on the soapbox about the missed holiday event.
  11. If we ever got to that stage, I'd buy the current LoTR game at the time :).
  12. Imagine the lag on Fally World 2 when horses showed up. Imagine trying to FIND someone in that SEA of scale-horses. I'll stick with the silly toy horsey, I don't want a mount. I'm happy using the "run" feature. THAT certainly hasn't been around forever. I still remember having to WALK everywhere. Of course, distances were FAR longer back then too, and I used to have to walk for 5 miles in the snow just to buy some coal from varrock. Did I want a horse?!? Noooo, but we were tough back then. Heck, it was more like 50 miles really. *Wanders off, grumbling about how easy you kids have it these days, with your "gnome pilots" and "running" and whatnot.
  13. I'm still waiting for you to address my post. Or, are you hoping you can ignore reasonable logic, and it will just go away?
  14. *Slaps Harper around with his rubber chicken* Good logic actually, I never considered using that example. Can I slap again? (I dropped my chicken BTW :P)
  15. Anyone in this thread that has posted with PURE capslock in their post needs to go elsewhere to yell for no reason. I count two people.
  16. Yes, dogs wouldn't be a bad thing for the game. However, it's not a game breaking issue. I was really excited to get a cat, now it sleeps in the bank by day, and steals fish from bots at night. I got over it. Hellcats will be gotten over soon too :).
  17. What level would be be? I bet he uses prayer :). As to the original idea, it sounds mind-numblinly simple, and VERY boring. If something like this DID happen for easter, I would probably kill the bunny instead.
  18. This proves that Darwins theory exists in all it's myriad of forms. The stupid always die first. You're silly. Go balance on a moving car, that might be more "your level".
  19. We don't need a solution, because there isn't a problem. You have offered a solution, without pointing out, irrefutably that there is a problem that needs fixing. Until that is done, all these "solutions" will just be the pipe dreams of someone who wants a rare. So, prove that there is actually a problem existing, and prove it beyond all reasonable doubt. Then, propse a solution. Until there is a problem, fixing it will acehieve nothing but negative attitudes from players, some of which may leave over it. Really, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  20. I do wish you would stop advertising your game in every bloody thread you post in. *Nods*. http://www.runescape.com Whoops, was that spam? :P
  21. Oooh, if that happens, I demand a GOOD coffee shop too. And a pub. A big pub. With pretty barmaids. And an unlimited free supply of coal. Oooh, and a pony.
  22. It's funny because he's deluded
  23. How can they offer proff, if u dun't give them the chance??!?!?!?!?!!111
  24. Yes, fair point. I just thought it would give the warhammer a bit more of an edge if it was THE one-handed crushing weapon, and the battle axe was the power-heavy 2h weapon. I disagree about this role being filled with the Dharok Great Axe. It's really good with it's set bonus, but thats a very specialised bonus. You have to find someone being willing to take the immense risk of a low HP just to hit higher with what looks like a cool weapon. Also, the Great Axe is P2P only, and F2P and P2P alike would really get a lot from the update. As well as the fact that it's an update that wouldn't lend itself to being P2P only: "Get P2P, the weapons all change and the weapon you were using might not be the one you want to use anymore". Yes. Especially the last sentance, that REALLY annoys me. A R2h should be able to match a scimmy when the scimmy has a sheild. But, currently it doesn't... Exactly. If it's a mediocre weapon with a good prayer bonus, defensive players, non-pkers or skillers in the wilderness would LOVE it. It would be used. And, it would be used by players using it not just for raw stats, but because in that situation it would be better than another weapon. I know I would take a rune/dragon mace with me into the wilderness on a clue hunt, if I knew it would help my prayer more than it would help my ablitity to hit someone hard enough and hope they ran away. Thats the tough thing. Jagex (understandably) doesn't just grab random ideas from people. And, a lot of people with petitions have not thought the WHOLE idea through, and Jagex (who know their game better than anyone) can find the faults that we cannot. The first step would be to dump this in runescape suggestions and feedback, rather than the rants forum, as we've established there is a problem, and started to thrash it out. Finding a possible solution as we have, we need to get it out of the rants, and into a place where we can discuss the solution, rather than the problem. Then, we would need to really thrash the idea out amongst ourselves, discussing game balance, as well as any spash effects (store prices of these weapons, smithing costs/avaliability/level/high-alch price, quest requirements, etc). If we can flesh ALL aspects of the idea out and come up with solutions for those problems too, then they would be more likely to at least read the idea, perhaps even considering it before they reject or agree with it. I remember the 2h looked rather awkward held the way it was, and at a glance didn't look much different to the longsword. I think that players commented on the official forums, which set them to thinking "hey, perhaps we can go a step better", and did the redraw. It certainly looks cool now, yes. Thats parrtially what made me want to take the Battle to 2h, as thats how the barbarians hold theirs ;).
  25. Honestly can't fault this post, it's all true, and it's all more or less my standpoint on the matter. Good to see someone taking the time to post it properly though, very well thought out. This stands alongside the "F2P VS P2P" thread in my mind, as being a good reference point for morons that come barging in here to post their latest pile of... well, you know.
