  1. I can live with my names....in fact I'm pretty happy with them. Though, I have thought of better RSNs since, and if there were an ability to change my name, I probably would.
  2. This whole thing stemmed from the perversion of the word "theory". There seems to be a difference in the scientific usage and everyday useage of the word. In the science world, it doesn't mean an "unproved claim", it means it's been tested, and experimentally verified as fact. Confusion on the definition has led some of the uninformed to believe evolution is unproved. This is untrue. There is a great deal of information out there that shows we are the product of billions of years of amino acids interacting and streamlining themselves into greater forms through randomness, chaos, and natural selection. Yes, I am religious, but I use my religion as guidance, not as a way to close off my mind to the universe. Yes, there have been many atrocities done in the name of religion but this doesn't mean religion is evil. The original purpose of nearly all religions was to give moral guidance. To teach tolerance, even to those who do not follow the same religion. To take care of each other. The problem is, religions themselves tend to evolve. People add to the religion and modify it over time. Occasionally, fanatics take them over and use religion as a tool to strengthen their own powers. They use religion as a sheild for their own personal agenda. Many seem to only remember this about religion, and forget it's true origins. It isn't religion, but people that cause the problems. Just a note: The amount of outright atheists are about the same between america and europe, but americans are much more likely to have much stronger religious beliefs, and be more involved.
  3. twice, once as passenger, other as driver....both cars totaled =p (and no injuries at all)
  4. I've used plethora and detritus several times before, but I don't think I see myself ever saying "Steatopygia" =p
  5. If you're just starting out, just stick with the EADGBe tuning (and if you wish, buy a tuner. you'll have an easier time keeping your guitar at that tuning). For now, stick with the easier chords. Practice your hand position, finger position, and switching between those chords. And remember, the basis of most any song is chords, so it's important to learn and memorize as many base chords as possible (when I first started, I skipped that step and went straight for "Classical Gas". I could play Classical Gas flawlessly in about two weeks, but I didn't have a true understanding of the song, and I had a very difficult time learning other songs for a while) there are a few sites out there with a good amount of user submitted tabulature of songs, and with long lists of all the chords, like ultimate-guitar.com I'm not too much of a Green Day fan, but I did find their song, Good Riddance (time of your life), an easy song to learn, and helped me get started way back when. Many of those chords, and their permutations are in plenty of other popular songs. strum each chord several times. if you can listen to the original, it will help you figure out the best way to do this. Note: this part of the song uses 5 different chords (high) G9 C9 D E|----3------3-----2-----| B|----3------3-----3-----| G|----0------0-----2-----| D|----0------2-----0-----| A|----2------3-----x-----| E|----3------x-----x-----| repeat a few times... (low E) then.... Em D C G9 E|----0---------2-------------0----------3-------| B|----0---------3-------------1----------3-------| G|----0---------2-------------0----------0-------| D|----2---------0-------------2----------0-------| A|----2---------x-------------3----------2-------| E|----0---------x-------------x----------3-------| repeat this a few times...then Em G9 Em G9 Em D E|----0------------3-------------0------------3------------0------------2-------| B|----0------------3-------------0------------3------------0------------3-------| G|----0------------0-------------0------------0------------0------------2-------| D|----2------------0-------------2------------0------------2------------0-------| A|----2------------2-------------2------------2------------2------------x-------| E|----0------------3-------------0------------3------------0------------x-------| do this part once, then back to the begining I play a ton of other instruments, and I definitely found the guitar to be the easiest instrument to learn, one of the most fun to play, and that almost everyone likes listening to it. Remember, work on your mechanics first, and you'll be a better guitarist for it in the end. I wish you the best of luck with guitar =)
