  1. I downloaded MAMP the other day, which means Apache, MySQL and PHP for Mac. I read that macs have php support installed by default and an apache server built in, so I wonder if I could've just downloaded MySQL... Anyways, there is this folder called MAMP/htdocs/ where I'm supposed to put my .php files, and then they'd be visible from http://localhost:8888, but so far none of my copy-pasted php hello world's haven't worked. I'm pretty sure my code is flawless, as it's straight from tutorials. Also I managed to run the code using mac's command line, aka terminal, with the command "php helloWorld.php". Been trying to figure out if the problem is with MAMP; did I install it wrong or is there something wrong with the apache server or what. I was hoping this to be more like the "install and you're ready" kind of package they promised it would be. But if there are any php gurus out there, any words of courage would be appreciated.
  2. Finished the main storyline in Fallout 3, didn't really expect it to end like that. Wondering if I'll ever feel like playing the side quests.
  3. I've been trying to find out why the Ising model is considered to be classical (as opposed to quantum mechanical), but google hasn't been too helpful. :(
  4. Civilization 5 really all I was interested in ;O Portal 2 at 7,49 feels like I was cheated for paying the full price on release.
  5. If they ever announce that consoles get 32vs32 or even 24v24, give me a call. Until then, I'll be waiting for the day I have enough balls to buy a gaming PC. New maps look sweet.
  6. I lol'd  but as was answered, you don't initialize your elements array, meaning it is a null pointer.
  7. Official site: http://www.atitd.com/ Wikis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Tale_in_the_Desert http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale6/Main_Page In short, A Tale in the Desert is a MMORPG set in ancient Egypt, where players work (*cough*grind*cough*) together to accomplish various tasks and challenges. Every few years they reset the server, this happened last saturday, so if you feel like starting a new MMORPG now would be a good time, or then you can do what I did: just check the game out and leave it at that. You can play the game for free for 24 hours, after which you may continue playing with a 13.95 dollar monthly subscription. The game has no pvp and no hiscores, so it's very much based on the community of players playing together rather than competing against each other. I played the game for a few hours today, and found it to be worth a recommendation. There's a few camera problems and the command system isn't too intuitive, but I can see why some people would want to spend their money to play this, what I believe to be a truly unique game. As a virtual world and a social experiment, the game is fascinating. btw I searched for "Games similar to Haven and hearth" and found this. From open pvp permadeath to no pvp at all, but oh well. At least it's a sandbox/dynamic world.
  8. Mw3's theater mode is so buggy =( Had to restart my ps3 twice now because theater just froze on me. I'm trying to record a clip and when I'm done, the clip is like it's filmed from my feet's perspective. Went 15-2 in a game of sabotage yesterday, my best game K/D wise.
  9. Been using marksman in almost all my classes
  10. Knife lunge is twice as long as in black ops. And I'm bad at panic kniving. :-( Why would someone want extra perks instead of killstreaks? Domination is fun. Pump shotgun that is a two shot kill from 3,6 meters away is poor. No 'mute all' button.
  11. a few notes: - some of the names for the maps are BAD. "village" and "mission" being the worst cases. - all maps I've played so far have the same feel to them. A lot of rubble, destroyed cars and dust laying around. No fun gimmicks like in black ops, where nearly every map had that special something or a gimmick in them. They also seem to lack a proper structure. - guns do more damage than in blops. - lag = instant rage - killstreaks are rewarding and fun to use. (got that 10 killstreak where you shoot guided missiles and it was fun) - single player had a michael bay beginning unlike any cod campaign so far, will be exhausting if the same pace keeps up. Played prologue and first two missions - I wish I could unlock guns in the order I wanted to. Game is not a total piece of cabbage.
  12. Finished single player. I liked this better than the other 3 fps single player campaigns I've played: mw2, blops & bfbc2. A good balance of gun fight & quicktime events, good generic story with a few highlights and memorable moments thrown in there. No major complaints; the thing that bothered me the most was the lack of facial animations. Your pals have some strange looking eyes in this game.
  13. Unlocked IR flares for the scout helicopter: disabled an enemy helicopter, like a minute later got vehicle destroyed, enemy killed, roadkill, enemy killed. Also later on got a kill assist and a vehicle destroyed assist. Copter bullets against a tank are weak. First time getting anything done with the choppers, so it felt good :) Flying is fun.
  14. i reinstalled xcode and this time selected one checkbox and now it works. First time I thought: I won't need these useless extra features, I won't install them. Turns out what I needed was just that. Time to become pro c++ coder for real! :shades:
  15. So I decided to take a course in c++, but making things difficult I want to be able to work at home, which means getting set up on this mac. Apple has an IDE for cocoa/objective c/c/c++ called xcode which i downloaded, and supposedly it comes with compilers and all. So I should have compilers downloaded. Problem is, I don't get the terminal command g++ working: -bash: g++: command not found I want to be able to write code in a text editor and compile and run via command line (aka terminal on osX) If someone is familiar with setting up compilers, has done c++ programming on a mac system or is feeling otherwise helpful, please share your wits. Btw I'm posting this here and not on a mac forum because I'm stupid. EDIT: Found the location where the compilers are installed. These files are related to the gnu compiler collection: g++ g++-4.0 g++-4.2 gcc gcc-4.0 gcc-4.2 The adventure continues!
  16. Spawned in a jet 6 times in a row last game to try and learn flying, it ended in a suicide each time. Are the jets meant for air-to-air battles or air-to-ground? So far they seem fun, but useless. Hoping to get something done with them to get some of the unlocks. First time killing someone with a jet must be so rewarding

  18. My first multiplayer conquest game I crashed two helicopters to a side of a cliff =D Average time in air ~30 seconds. Also lost with about 100 ticket margin. was fun ps3 btw 2nd game I shot down a helicopter with a tank. No heat guiding missiles, pure skill. edit: Just now had some awesome last moments in a round we lost by 30 tickets: Driving a hummer, see enemy tank right in front, pull right, down a hill, jump off hummer into nearby house tank following, kill two guys, second one with pistol since assault rifle out of ammo and lastly capture a flag while tank still roaming around to find me. + Explosions, blurred vision, rubble and the music that plays when round is close to end. bbl, food ->
  19. Got 99 problems but not having bf3 ain't one.
  20. Looks legit.. Was wondering some time ago when they'd make gtaV, didn't think it'd be so soon. good stuff.
  21. Ps3 for me, can't think of any original reasons, but I guess it fits my play style. I get enough of keyboard + mouse with everyday computer use, so don't care to use them for gaming, and 360 online has monthly fee? Doesn't fit my budget / casual gaming habits. +bluray
  22. Where's the like button when you'd finally need it? This applies to so much further than just online communities, also hobbies, work, school, politics etc work with same group dynamics, it's truly fascinating to see your role and place in the community forming up. From lurker to retired, there's so much you learn and gain from the community, not to forget the value you yourself give to others in the group, without even fully noticing it in the process. btw am listening to eminem :shades:
  23. Questions I want answered: - Can you change class loadouts between games? - How well is the squad system implemented: can you easily change your squad mid-game or join your friend's game/squad mid-game? - How do the maps flow? Are there obvious choke points like in Metro? (and Seine Crossing seemed to have some too, judging from that youtube vid posted earlier) - Are the vehicle spawns as fast as in the beta? (consider vehicle instaspawn in caspian border) - Is there an actual 'leave game'/'return to main menu' button in the between-rounds interface/ menusystem. Didn't see one in the beta, or in bfbc2 for that matter. I still hope I'm just partially blind/ too obsessed with the game to see it. - and how easy is it to mute people? when I'm a games producer I'll make sure my games are shipped first in Europe and after that in the us and the rest of the world. Just to piss people outside Europe off.
  24. I don't get it, weren't there prestige hacks in atleast mw2? Not really pumped up for mw3 tbh
