  1. Often the bombers have orders to blow up the plane over U.S. soil, as in this case. There are many major U.S. airports that lie on the coast, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Baltimore, Boston, two in Washington D.C., and any of the three in New York. For flights to any of these airports, the plane does not reach U.S. soil until, at most, the last hour of the flight. If they need to get something from the bathroom to set of the bomb, and they can't get it earlier in the flight and keep it with them, then the one hour rule would work. But the rule has been removed now anyway. Oh I see! If your men can't attack during the last sixty minutes, you'll just give up all together! Then Al-Qaeda may as well disband and everything will be well! Ingenious! ... I don't know if what you say about the rule being removed is true - there seems to be a lot of confusion following it, and some places are now extending it to 90 minutes. However, that merely reinforces the point - the rule is stupid, and anyone who'd take the time to really think about it would draw the same conclusion. This quote I found in a local newspaper pretty much summarizes the incident: If we're going to surrender liberty for the sake of security, shouldn't we be sure we're actually safer?
  2. Out of curiosity, for all of those who say "better violated/humiliated/delayed/etc than dead", how exactly does stopping you from using the restroom in the last hour prevent terrorism? Am I crazy for just thinking said terrorist would, oh, I don't know, pull their stunt 70 minutes before the plane touches down instead of 30? What exactly sets that last 60 minutes apart from the past 10 hours or so, asides from the fact that THIS time it happened at that time? That's like saying, because the last attempt was made through using shoes, we should always spend extra time searching shoes... oh wait. In my opinion, this terrorist attack was a success. They're doing this to scare people - well, they certainly have people scared. Scared enough to make rules that don't even make sense, scared enough to defend said rules without really thinking about it. Do people really believe that the next attempt would occur in the last 60 minutes, and because of this new rule, it won't happen anymore?
  3. Would 2 PM GMT be possible? 3 would be a little bit late by the local standard and I'm tired from the flight as it is. :( EDIT: Wereta, you're Were right? I'm Reaper Sho. >.< EDIT2: Good game Wereta (He won).
  4. Are you kidding? :P I haven't played any Pokemon since Platinum came out, barring this tournament. Ah well we'll see how it goes. :) I'm on Shoddy now though but I don't see Were... Ahh finished my essay 30-20 minutes before your post :-? Well hopefully we'll get it done today. What's your timezone? American? Up until yesterday it was Pacific. Now it's Taipei (I'm on vacation). :P I'm on now though. Why don't you suggest a time and I'll see if it works out?

  6. No one who studied the crusades, I hope.
  7. I'm pretty sure girls have always hit puberty at younger ages. At least, I was under the impression that in older societies women were married off at young ages BECAUSE they were fertile at that age. Also, it's worth noting that the youngest recorded mother gave birth at age 5, not 9. I find it every bit as deplorable for a young male to act on his hormones and seek sexual relationships when they are in no way prepared to care for a child. The father should be as responsible as the mother for caring for the child. It usually takes two poor decisions to conceive a child, not one. Even in cases of rape, more often than not, the victim chose to put him or herself into a dangerous position... Anyhow, I've always found that abortion is one of those subjects not quite worth discussing. Unless someone is severely, severely misinformed for NON religious reasons, it's very difficult to convince anyone to change their beliefs on the matter.
  8. I'm in no way christian, and I don't agree with abortion... admittedly, for very different reasons. And a ban upon abortion would NOT be what ruins a teenage girl's life. It is her own decision to have sex, or the crime of another person. If you can't handle the possibility of having children, then don't have sex. The whole idea of creating a fetus for your own pleasure, then destroying it just seems absurd. But I suppose that's out of the question for today's average feeble-minded teenager who allows particular hormonal urges to govern their entire life. Having sex when you're not ready for children is a mistake, in my opinion, and such great mistakes should have great consequences. We are SUPPOSED to have sex. If we weren't then females would lay unfertilised eggs, and the males would fertilize them. If we weren't supposed to have sex, why does it feel good? Nobody creates a fetus FOR their own pleasure and then destroy it, but they made have created a fetus FROM THE RESULT of their own pleasure. If having sex when you're not ready for children is a mistake then there would be no pleasure involved as to keep people from doing it. We are supposed to have sex because we are supposed to reproduce. Naturally, a human is supposed to be ready to care for a child the time he or she reaches sexual maturity. Supposed to. Nature dictates that at sometime between the ages of 10 to 15, humans become sexually mature and able to reproduce. Their bodies produce hormones to guide them into doing so, hence, the "pleasure" involved, because that is the age at which humans are supposed to reproduce. We live unnatural lives, because in today's society, the majority of humans reaching puberty have not reached the level of mental maturity to care for a child properly, as well as themselves. Just because your body thinks it's the right thing to do does not make it the right thing to do. In fact, in today's society, just because you are physically mature does not mean you are mentally mature. The human brain does not develop completely until the age of 25 IIRC, so the chance of one being mentally ready for reproduction and care of offspring at the same age they become physically mature is very, very low. You are hardwired to stop working if you're tired, because in a natural situation, humans should live an active enough lifestyle that they are in shape, and get more than enough exercise regularly. You are hardwired to enjoy sugar, fat, and meat, because these provide the most nutrients, which your body thirsts for. Your body is hardwired to do a lot of things. That is not an excuse. Humans have transcended nature's limitations upon them, to the point where we have placed a constraint upon evolution. Our bodies no longer know what's best for us, so what the body tells us to do is by no means an argument for doing them.

  10. You fight 272 enemies in the fight caves, not 192. This is with the assumption that you do not kill healers, or healers do not count as volcanic enemies.
  11. Wereta? Are you still around?
  12. Oh right, I still need to play against Wereta.
  13. Yes, it only works on those two, but it's banned overall. Besides if using it on Latias/Latios was banned, but using it on others was not, you can expect to see some trick-centralized shenanigans.
  14. If you're doing that, why are you passing to Relicanth instead of Lucario? Also, your strategy is fairly easy to stop even if you pass it. Relicanth comes in on an attack, sub is broken (assuming you even set one up). You take out something, then you get revenge killed by priority. Even a neutral CB STAB Technician Bullet Punch from the ever common Scizor should be able to take Relicanth down. Focus Sash can put a thorn in your side, especially if you're leading with Ninjask since that means you likely don't have SR up.
  15. From what I remember Latias is OU still and Manaphy and Garchomp are still Uber through I don't think they have finished testing yet. Anyways its not like we would get to use either anyways Manaphy's Heart Swap is still glitchy and Latias is too simlier to Latios and the Soul Dew. Uh, what? Testing is over. They just concluded their latest test, which puts Latias and Manaphy in OU and Garchomp in Uber. And, seeing as it's the final stage of the test, they're not likely to be moving any of the three again for a while. Manaphy's Heart Swap is simply disabled on the smogon server, and Latias is not at all similar to Latios, which is why Latios is Uber and Latias is OU. Soul Dew Clause is also standard, you can't put it on Latias, you can't put it on Latios, you can't even put it on Pikachu. The item itself is banned. You must be looking at a really old list Latias was put into OU in February 2009 (about the same time Garchomp became Uber) and Manaphy I doubt was ever in OU. Also Latias is undergoing testing right now if it should be moved back to Uber. Krimi if you want to battle 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. No. Right about the time we began our tournament, the stage 3 tests began. This is the test you mentioned: Latias, as well as Garchomp and Manaphy. All three of these, along with Latios, were tested before. Latios was clearly voted Uber, Latias tentatively OU, Manaphy tentatively Uber, Garchomp Uber but with wide support for a re-test. That is why Latios was excluded from the stage 3 test, but Latias, Manaphy, and Garchomp were included. The test just ended in the past week, which is why I asked when it happened. I haven't been paying attention recently and just noticed the results. Latias was voted to remain in OU, Garchomp was voted to remain in Ubers, Manaphy was voted to move to OU. Since this is the stage 3 tests, they're likely moving on to test clauses and such, and therefore won't be moving the tiers much soon unless something really big comes up. AKA, Latias and Manaphy are going to stay in OU for quite a while. I can see why you're confused, since this is the first time Manaphy's been in OU since early DP. There are plenty of other really deadly Pokemon in OU already. Manaphy is really just a slightly better Suicune. There are 3 Pokemon frequently used in OU that can pretty much ruin Hydration Manaphy just by switching in as it goes to rest (Tyranitar, Abomasnow, and Hippowdon). The first can also throw a CB stabbed Pursuit at Manaphy as it's fleeing, taking out a good portion of its health, and pretty much guaranteeing it won't work again when compounded with the practically omnipresent stealth rocks. Not to mention, sandstorm gives a 50% Sp. Def boost to all rock types, meaning some of them could probably stand toe-to-toe with a +2 Manaphy regardless. Anyhow, the suspect test showed that Latias was common, but not overpowering. Garchomp was in over 70% of the teams, and EXTREMELY overpowering, which is why he was removed in the first place. Manaphy was pretty much neglected. I personally feel they should test again, without Garchomp inspiring an army of Tyranitars and Hippowdons, but that's their call and not mine.
  16. From what I remember Latias is OU still and Manaphy and Garchomp are still Uber through I don't think they have finished testing yet. 17. When was suspect testing finished? :o (Latias and Manaphy OU, Garchomp Uber, for those who didn't already hear about it.) Anyhow, I believe they're testing the clauses now, which means the tiers have been pretty much finalized. Can we start using Latias and Manaphy now? :(
  18. "Merching" is not fine. As much as people try to justify it, merchants take from the economy without giving back. Before the Grand Exchange, merchants performed an invaluable service in exchange for their earnings. This is no longer the case - the Grand Exchange has essentially taken over what merchant's used to do. Think about it - what does a merchant REALLY contribute to the game? Even an avid PKer contributes to the economy - he provides an outlet for goods, allowing them to stabilize in price, while providing the service of being a challenge to others of like-mind. What does a merchant do, besides creating false demand and supply strategically? By buying even a single measly item for the sake of re-selling for profit, you are creating false demand. And, in turn, when you sell it later, you are creating false supply.
  19. Minimum level to complete WGS is 75 magic. The Stone of Jas raises your magic to 255. 255 - 75 yields a 180 level boost, or a 540% damage boost. 10% from your staff results in 550%. The highest hitting spell is Miasmic Barrage, which deals 32 damage. Because of the 550% increase, your maximum hit is multiplied by 6.5 totally 208. And it's sort of a joke. Actually, it's what happens when I'm really, really bored in class.
  20. Max hit with magic has gone up actually, to 208 on a single target unless I'm overlooking something.
  21. Don't change your pokemon's stats after you do the selection. (This seems to be the problem) No. Hidden Power has a display type of "Normal" on Shoddy. No matter what you set your Hidden Power to, it will ALWAYS display as Hidden Power - Normal from my experience, but it will still behave as the correct type. Maybe there's some way to change it, but it really doesn't matter since it's only the display, not the actual type used in calculation.
  22. Still here? EDIT: Yes he was. =p Good game Zaaps1.
  23. That sounds a bit early, that's 5 in the morning for me... or 3 hours ago, lol. Maybe sometime in the next few hours if you're still here?
  24. I'll be available pretty much all day tomorrow (Sunday) if I'm awake, since I'm preparing for my exams. I'm in the PST timezone... I won't be at my computer and checking Tip.It the whole time though, why don't you suggest a time?
  25. I guess so.
