  1. Wow, I was just about to say that. I think the idea of "other god prayers" is stupid. All the lore type info about prayer atm is that ALL the prayers are granted by whichever god you pray too. Eg if you are zamorakian he gives u protect from melee, if you are sara boy you get it from sara etc. Though i do agree symbol is being de-saradomined to show this genereal status But in While Guthix Sleeps where you have to enter the elite black knight lair, when you fight the knights that use protect prayers for long enough they say something along the lines of "No! Zamorak has abandoned me!" and their protection prayers shut off. So (at least for those NPCs), Zamorak provides them with prayer and Saradomin has nothing to do with it. Maybe I'm just rambling, but perhaps there is a chance for prayers to be supplied to other gods with effects that differ from the current Saradomin prayers. Their prayer is different from player prayers. In fact, it might not even be really prayer. Player prayer is not 100% effective against players. Elite Black Knight "prayers" are. Player prayer drains based on how long it's active. Elite Black Knight "prayers" drain based on how many times you hit them. Prayer icons have also been used for the Kalphite Queen, for which it only symbolizes improved defense, or for Tormented Demons, which lasts FOREVER while providing 100% protection.
  2. Wait, so if you have the requirements to use it, we should always assume you're using it? Everyone with 75 Defense and Prayer is at a disadvantage of their own fault for not using a Divine Spirit Shield then. Damage calculations should always factor 30% damaged prevented, because if you choose not to use a DSS because you can't afford to or you prefer 2h weapons, then it's your fault. This game isn't made for pures. It's designed so players level up as they play, and *hopefully* earn themselves nice bonuses to use with their levels. It is a choice, yes, to not go make 100M to buy an Armadyl Godsword. But hey, it is a choice to not go make and spend 300M training Herblore. This is the problem. This isn't true. These potions are almost useless during PvM. God Wars - You spend so much time getting kill count, searching for a world, and waiting for respawns that the few seconds you may save are entirely moot. Besides, using Extreme Attack / Strength / Range means either you'll need to use a lot of them (less room for brews / restores), or you can't use brews. In either case, that results in less healing, which meas less kills. Which means the amount of time you waste getting ready for the trip is spread over fewer kills, mathematically, you are taking longer. And who mages at GWD? Remember, spawn times - even if you do use magic, most of your potion will be wasted between spawns. We kill too fast already. Same deal for Special, you regain more than enough between kills to justify the waste of space. Dagannoth Kings - Even worse than GWD. The potions are totally overkill, and barely hasten your trip. Extreme Magic is good, but again, spawn times eat up your potion. And again, kills per trip is paramount - at a glance, 40 kills in a 1 hour trip is better than 75 kills in a 2 hour trip, but this is simply not true once you factor the time you spend reaching there, setting up your inventory, clearing your inventory of loot, etc. Barrows - Brought up by Paul, and ridiculous. Throughout a 10 minute barrow trip, you're lucky to spend 2-3 minutes actually casting. But you need to use 12 minutes worth of potions. And you save almost nothing, since most of the time spent is running around, not fighting. So what does this leave? Super Antifire Potion - Usable, I suppose, but irrelevant to PvP entirely, and thus this discussion. Overload - Not enough testing to really draw any conclusions from. And on top of this, to "check" how powerful a ranger is, Dark Bow now uses 65% energy for special (so that potting after special will result in 60%, not enough to special again). Except that you can't use said potion in PvP anyways.
  3. I still would like an explanation of why wealth (read: time invested into this game) should be allowed to effect PvP, quests (read: time invested into training specific skills) should be allowed to effect PvP, but herblore (read: time invested into this game, training a specific skill) can not be allowed to affect PvP. I want to know why my hard-earned herblore can not give me untradable, minor stat bonuses, while someone else's cooking (requirement for RFD) is allowed to give them stat bonuses, another's thieving (requirement for Desert Treasure) is allowed to give them a whole set of magical attacks that are in general vastly superior for PvP combat.
  4. You do realize that a level 138 skiller with access to Overload would likely lose to a level 138 experienced PKer who has terrible non-combat skills? PKers are always talking about how experience + PKing technique are paramount. +7 Attack, Strength, and Defense is really quite a meager advantage. The only potion that was truly unbalanced was the Extreme Magic Potion, because it made a HUGE difference between people who could have it, and people who could not. If Extreme Potion was allowing AGS to hit 120 versus 80, I would be singing a different tune, but that's not the case. As it stands, these potions are utterly useless. Magic is hardly used in PvM anyways, barring training purposes. When it is used, in situations such as barrows, you spend more time doing other stuff than casting, and the space is more valuable used for super restore potions and saradomin brews. On that topic, Extreme Prayer is still trumped by Super Restore Potions. Some more prayer, versus allowing you to heal nearly double the HP per inven space without consequence? If you ask professional monster hunters, they'll likely tell you the same story - they can live without range potions. In fact, using Extreme Range Potions means either they're bringing a lot of them since Saradomin Brew resets their range (read: less room for healing and prayer, which means less kills), or they're using food (read: less efficiency in healing, which means less kills). In a PvM environment centralized on durability, these potions are utterly useless. If I had them already, I could see using them once in a while, but there's no motive to earn them.
  5. Why's it difficult to understand? Money aid to combat, it should have a combat levle. If it doesn't give you a combat level then it shouldn't be on PVP, period. Since you can't give away amounts over 3k barring quests, and you can't "buy" money, no player should be allowed to wield or use anything worth over 3k.
  6. What is his max hit, out of curiosity? He never hit over 50 or so on me despite him hitting me several times, and if the monster examine is to be trusted, he can't hit over 68 if you're properly equipped. In light of that, and the fact that you hit 115 hp after Saradomin brew, and that he's slow enough for you to drink two doses of potion easily, he can't even kill you with two max hits in a row. And the chance of him hitting that is slim, especially when he has a 50-50 chance of using the attack that's not being protected against...
  7. It's not supposed to be easy though. You just have to have quicker reactions now, which is perfectly fine because Jad was too easy in the first place. You. Are. Missing. The. Point. You have to be able to use prayer to kill jad. The only other real method is Vengeance method, but even then you have a miniscule chance to successfully get it right. I'm talking maybe 1/20 tries. Jad was designed to be killable by people who have mastered prayer switching, and that is how he was since day one. If you don't know that, and if you seriously believe that he's meant to be killed without it then you are highly misguided. The last and first time I made a real attempt at Jad, I used an outdated guide. Namely, one that had the old graphics... so I had no idea what pray to use when. I got hit over and over, and not once got close to dying... Jad is easily possible without prayer switching. All it takes is good equipment, good levels, and good preparation.
  8. No offense, but I would rebuild this team. There's simply too many problems with your Ninjask - Rampardos strategy. 1 - Most players are ready for baton pass. Roar, Whirlwind, Taunt all shut you down. Taunt bypasses Substitute and you can't use Protect multiple times without a high risk. Even worse is if they setup alongside you. A +4/+2 Rampardos will lose to a +2/+2 Gyarados, or something of the like. 2 - Baton Pass Ninjask, in practice, rarely passes more than 2 speed boosts. Rampardos is slow enough that it'll still be outsped left and right, especially with the prevalence of Choice Scarf. His HP is passable, but his paper-thin defenses basically ensure that if you don't hit first, you're done. And with the amount of scarfed Pokemon out there, you probably won't hit first. 3 - Even if you do pass more than 2 speed boosts, Rampardos still has a huge vulnerability: priority. Despite it being resisted, if they manage even a single SD with Lucario while you're setting up, you can likely expect ES to OHKO your Rampardos. Metagross laughs at Rampardos with Bullet Punch. Infernape has Mach Punch. Empoleon, which is seeing more usage every day, would love to come in and Aqua Jet. Scizor, practically omnipresent in today's metagame, is perhaps your biggest downfall. SE STAB CB Technician Priority BP says good bye to your Rampardos.
  9. Fire Fang kills it. For some reason, the developer's coded it so Fire Fang bypasses wonderguard, at least in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Claydol. Here's a list of fully-evolved Pokemon with Rapid Spin. Armaldo Blastoise Claydol Cloyster Delibird Donphan Forretress Hitmonchan Hitmonlee Hitmontop Kabutops Sandslash Starmie Tentacruel Torkoal I bolded the only ones even worth considering. However, I recommend against using Claydol, especially in OU. As you can see, the list isn't very long. Any experienced player will instantly realize what you're up to if you bring one of these out. You switch in Claydol, they'll switch in a Ghost, your Rapid Spin / Explosion will fail. Now you'll have Claydol stuck against something faster, likely packing STAB SE Shadowball, and possibly HP Ice as well. If you absolutely have to have a spinner, Starmie or Tentacruel are your best bets. Tentacruel is tough, more than capable of surviving incoming ghosts, and able to set up Toxic [bleep]es, use Knock off, or plenty of other things. Starmie has at least half a dozen viable sets, so it's not as obvious a spinner. Even then, Starmie outspeeds even Gengar. If you're playing on Shoddy, Camouflage always goes to normal, which makes you immune to Gengar's once STAB SE Shadowball. And if it was a Specsgar, you can safely RS while your opponent switches. The best solution, though, is to not bother with a spinner. Just avoid using ice/flying, bug/flying, fire/flying types; they're rarely worth the effort. Don't try to use Sash unless it's a lead, and you're good to go.
  10. I haven't seen this mentioned in the past few pages, to my surprise. Maybe it was posted earlier in the topic though. Uncut Onyx now costs 2,700,000 Tokkul. Yes, 2.7 million. This is not a bug or typo. The Tzhaar Rune store pays up to 10 for Fire Runes, but at the minimum, pays 5. Thus, there's pretty much a 1:1 exchange rate of Coins and Tokkul (Fire Runes cost 5 Coins each on the GE, and sell at minimum). Tzhaar monster drops have not increased, nor have the rewards from Fight Caves / Pits. Karamja AD Gloves no longer have any effect on Tzhaar Store prices. Multiple Jagex Mods have been quoted as hinting these changes are meant to be, as they call it, "semi-permanent." There are thousands of players already stocking up Tokkul in hopes Jagex changes the price back, but it seems like that won't happen. More importantly, in my opinion, anyone who was saving for an Onyx has been royally screwed. Player #31415926 who took the time to earn the Karamja gloves, and save 200k Tokkul from a combination of drops, Fight Pits, and Fight Caves, and was only 60k away, is now a solid 2,500k Tokkul away. I think the only way this could have been more ridiculous is if the update was made towards Coins instead... just imagine if today, every monster dropped 10x what it used to drop, but every item, GE and store, costs 10x more. Jagex has found themselves buried under another fine mess, thanks to their inability to plan ahead. Do they punish honest, but less-than-wealthy players who were saving their tokkul? Or do allow thousands of players to benefit insanely while utterly destroying the market for Onyx items... while at the same time, punishing the less-than-wealthy players by devaluing their goods? Worse, when people begin to comprehend what has truly happened, how will they alleviate the fears that this might again happen a little bit closer to home? That is, how can we be sure that they won't do this with experience points, coins, or other items?
  11. I'm not sure I'd agree that there's never a situation in which Elysian is better. In Castlewars, Elysian is arguably better because you don't restore prayer, although you could have quite a bit of hp healing yourself + getting bandages from others. The other situation is if you're low prayer, say, 80 or so. Not only do you not have a lot of pray naturally, your pray pots restore significantly less. Also, this means you have to pot more often. However, I highly doubt anyone can afford an Elysian / Divine and not afford 92 prayer for the breakpoint... maybe if someone got it as a drop. Divine is usually better though, most people blow the prayer drain way out of proportion.
  12. Smite was 15% or less? Strange, I always thought it was 25%. Divine is a sure thing, and prevents up to 30%. Elysian is luck-based, and its average prevention rate is less than 17.5%. If you can afford the prayer loss, Divine prevents upwards of 70% more damage than Elysian, as well as guaranteeing you protection as long as you have prayer points. Remember Murphy's Law: What can go wrong, will go wrong. Do you really want to suffer an untimely death at Fight Caves / GWD / whatever else you may be doing that's dangerous because Elysian triggered on a weak hit and prevented nothing, then failed to trigger on a massive hit? If you can afford the prayer drain, Divine is more than worth it... if you can afford the price tag in the first place. But that problem applies to Elysian too...
  13. Sorry for the double post, but this just reaffirms my point. A quick Google search of "Paying in Pennies" brought up a personal website/blog of a man who, frustrated with the sluggishness of government facilities, decides to pay for his car tag in pennies. The blog itself is quite dull, it mostly goes over what he did to get the pennies and send them and such. However, I don't know how accurate this is, but it sure makes sense: the government, state or federal, has to accept any form of their own currency for their services, because ultimately, the value of your currency exists only because the government says so: it's fiat currency. Towing businesses are licensed to act as agents of the law, to some degree. It makes perfect sense that some of the regulations of government facilities would be passed to them as well. I'm no lawyer (yet), and I have never studied this branch of law, but it's reasonable to assume that the policemen called to the scene were correct. And seven policemen? Okay, okay, I'll shut up about that now... although it still doesn't make sense.
  14. Does such a store exist? :? That video was much less awesome then it should have been. That lady had no control over his car being towed. If he had been giving the person who towed his car a hard time, it would be amazing. He was just being a complete jerk, because he's too stupid to know where to park. You know what they say about misery... He himself is probably not very happy, seeing as he was essentially fined $88 for a foolish error, not to mention, forced to walk home. At this point, he just wants to share the grief. Not exactly honorable behavior, but unfortunately, it's well within his rights, the way he did it. I thought the video was quite entertaining, if only for the fact that the problem could've been entirely averted by her doing her job, then reporting it to a manager. Instead, she dragged it on for an hour and involved SEVEN policemen (wait a moment, why exactly do you need SEVEN policemen to simply tell someone legally they have to accept the pennies? Ah, I digress), which is quite ridiculous. It sounds ridiculous, but think about it. You're at a fancy restaurant, and have a seizure. In the process, you destroy several wineglasses and plates, and scatter bits and pieces of them on the table, chairs, and floor, as they rush you out. Someone has to clean that up, you know. The unfortunate (or should I say, fortunate, as they actually HAVE a job in today's economic state) employees responsible for cleaning get to bite the bullet, and clean up the disaster. In a case like this, where it's intentional grief-causing mischief, I'd say she would've been far better off taking the payment, counting out the 8,800 pennies, sending the kid on his way without giving him the satisfaction of his Youtube fame, then call to the management. Explain what happened, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Getting seven (why?) policemen involved and wasting an hour seems quite futile to me. And the law does NOT say anything about not having to accept coins before they're rolled. An individual business might have such a policy, but this place evidently doesn't. And remember, the restrictions on their policy may be MUCH stricter as they are essentially taking someone's property for various reasons. In theory, this is a job for government entities, but it's contracted out to towing businesses. That means towing businesses have to deal with quite a bit of federal bureaucracy, and I doubt any of us know what sort of regulations are in place. Either the cops do know, and they were right in that the money does NOT have to be rolled, or even SEVEN cops were not aware of such a law. On that, I have a slightly irrelevant story to mention. There was once a business that paid its employees bonuses in silver dollars. Silver coins are traded far above face value, as you hopefully all know. However, the business filed tax information based on face value, which really irked the IRS. $500 worth of silver coins is a lot more than $500. More like $10,000, which is an awful lot of lost tax revenue. This case became a huge issue, went to court several times. What does this have to do with this case? Well, eventually, it was settled, and the business was forced to report the coins at their actual value. However, the business was NOT penalized additionally, on grounds that the law gets too complicated, with contradictions, interpretations, invalidation, and exceptions. Even well-educated tax lawyers were not in agreement on how taxes should be filed, and many were unaware of some lesser known laws. This is relevant because federal laws are like that: mired in red tape. If out of seven officers of the law, not one knew of a requirement for coins to be rolled, then I would not jump to conclusions. There could easily be regulations on towing business we are not aware of. And DeathDrow, in America, we DO have Dollar-coins (asides from the silver ones). I'm pretty sure the poster meant coins, not bills.
  15. Under normal circumstances, yes. You can refuse anyone service if you want (not on a basis of race, gender, religion ect...). However this is entirely different, since they had his car. It's not the woman's job to count pennies. If he wants his car back then he can walk home and roll them up or come up with some bills then come back. Why not? If I paid her in bills, she'd have to count them AND add them, seeing as I live in America, where there aren't any $88 bills. If your car is towed, it's your duty to come up with the fee, and she is being paid to handle whatever paperwork is entailed AND ensure the payment is the appropriate amount. That's EXACTLY her job, in fact, it's what she's being paid for. Admittedly, it's a damn lot harder to count 8,800 pennies than add up four twenties, a five, two ones and four quarters, but the quantity is more or less irrelevant. Under normal circumstances, yes, a business can create policy that dictates what forms of payment are acceptable, and what forms are not. However, this is when dealing with customers, more or less. Evidently the police who enforced this are going completely off what the boy said (possible), or they are aware of the situation better than we are, particularly about any restrictions on how you're allowed to handle such transactions. As far as whether he had the right to do it... he sure did, in my opinion. If the police were correct in siding with him, and the law truly did require her to accept the pennies, then it was well within his rights to demand she accept them. However, it's also not very nice. She's not the one who called in for the car to be towed. She's not the one who actually towed the vehicle. Most importantly, she's not the one who parked it illegally. Her only part in this is being behind the counter, hired to file the paperwork and collect and value payment. That's what i was thinking all this time couldnt they sue or something if they did all of this and it was less then the amount of stated. + its not like they counted all them of them they assumed (my guess) that she trusted it was that amunt to get rid of this whole big hassle so they might have gotten ripped I walk into the supermarket and buy a cart full of groceries. The total is $46.83. I hand the clerk three ten-dollar bills, two five-dollar bills, five one-dollar bills, three quarters, a nickel, and three pennies. Do they sue me? No, they inform me I'm short a dollar, I acknowledge my mistake, and pull another dollar out of my wallet and hand it over, after checking to make sure I really did make the mistake. So if she had said it was 8,799 cents (assuming you meant this, because the payment was $88 and not $80), either he could fish out another penny from his pocket and hand it over with a quick apology, or recount it all in front of her. In either case, it means it's taking up even more of her time... so no, it would've been a bad idea, really.
  16. Eh. Feraligatr is the only water type starter I disliked out of all four generations. Squirtle 1st gen, Mudkip/Torchic tied 3rd gen, and Piplup 4th gen. Feraligatr really isn't that good, either. If you run the DD set, he's completely outclassed by Gyarados. SD is the only way Feraligatr can outshine Gyara, but unfortunately, most of what beats Gyara still beats SD Feraligatr. Feraligatr has lower special defense and HP, so 2x electric attacks boosted by LO / Specs are usually still going to take you down quick. Unless you invest in HP and S. Def, but then, wouldn't you be back to square 1? You're dropping the attack you're boosting via SD. You might prefer Feraligatr over Gyarados, but Gyarados is the superior Pokemon.
  17. You'll have the little kids whining because their pokemon won't obey them. Great idea to get kids to want to walk but they will have to program it to where it won't go over the level your gym badges will allow you to control. I mean it's not their problem but all the kids who play it will whine like crazy. "My level 45 ____ took a nap during my first gym battle". No Pokemon that has matching OT Gender, OT ID, and OT Secret ID will disobey you regardless of their level. In other words, any Pokemon you've caught / hatched yourself should never disobey you unless you tamper with it.
  18. It took quite a lot of resets, but I *finally* beat the Champion at 1,500 Dueling. It gets sort of ridiculous how they're 3x as strong as you are at those levels. It takes 5-6 good hits to knock one of them off, whilst it takes them only two solid hits to knock you off. I also, believe it or not, finally hit all 12 of the secret objects in Archery! :D Got my nice shiny stamp for it too. I now have every stamp EXCEPT the perfect run stamp (requires you to hit three bulls eyes out of three shots, on each of the four stages, on any difficulty) for Archery.
  19. Get over it. It took me over 1100 kills for an amulet (500K Range XP and 200 melee kills prior). The drop rate is not unlike that of a whip or dark bow: there will always be some who gets one right away, or gets five in seven hours. But you might not be one of those people, in fact, you probably won't be.
  20. If the RNG manipulator is adjusted to work with HG / SS, I'll probably just use whatever until I reach the Lake of Rage. From there, I'll go for an Adamant 31/31/31/*/31/31 Gyarados from the preset encounter, EV it right away, and just solo the rest of the game with it. 8-) Also, interesting fact some may be unaware of. In the original G/S/C generation, female Pokemon were usually inferior to male Pokemon, and Shiny Pokemon were usually inferior to normal Pokemon (including the preset Red Gyarados encounter). This is because it was made to be, to some degree, backwards compatible with the R/B/Y generation. However, there were no determinants for gender or shininess in R/B/Y, so they simply tied it to IVs. This was changed 3rd generation, along with the changes in game mechanics, so this is thankfully no longer the case. While we're on the topic of IVs, the legendary run-away confused animal things in FR / LG were glitched, and would always have several IVs set to 0 or something ridiculously low like that automatically. HG / SS will likely be very, very different from the original G/S/C series.
  21. The game is incredible. It looks ridiculously simple, childish, whatever else people say Nintendo does wrong. Yet it's also addicting and fun. I've spent hours on the swordfighting and archery games alone. The swordfighting makes you wonder why we haven't gotten a good swordfighting game on the Wii yet. :(
  22. Fantastic. A second pair lasted only 300 or so pies, I'm guessing that was my half used pair. But I had leftover pies. So I bought enough to reach 1,012 and tried gloves #3. 1,050 pies later, it's still working... EDIT: It broke at approximately 1,080.
  23. I have four pairs of cooking brawlers, one of which is half used since I cooked several hundred summer pies and sharks with it. I pulled out a pair today, thinking it was the half used one, seeking to empty some bank space. It lasted exactly 1,012 pies. Either gloves last a lot more than 1k, something like 1.5k at least, or this wasn't the half pair. If it wasn't, then cooking gloves should last exactly 1,012 uses each.
  24. Again, a) You try watching six years of work disappear for no reason whatsoever, through no fault of your own, and type coherently afterwards. B) It doesn't matter if he brought it or not, or if there was reason to bring it. What about the people who dropped dead for NO reason in the Lumbridge cave death bug? They literally walked inside, waited a few seconds, and just died. What about items disappearing out of your GE box? What if the bank is next, and items disappear out of your bank? A player should no more fear for 350M in his inventory in a safe mini-game TUTORIAL with NO hostile NPCs in the area and dangerous randoms removed, than he should fear for items randomly leaving his bank. It doesn't matter that it's new content, either. When I go to Target and purchase a new video game, I expect it to be, for the most part, bug-free, even though it's new content as well.
