  1. Honestly outside of Japan, these games have little to no market, USA is to my knowledge the most second liberal game market, Many of our M games get banned elsewhere, Like manhunt 2 - that we don't even bat an eye over here. Japan has a different culture than we do, and i've been to lots of places where comics/anime goods are sold and NEVER seen a hentai game in person. To say that the market is big, Is like comparing american flag sales elsewhere - I clearly believe outside of japan and similar countries - The market for these games is very very small. Actually, the market for these types of games is much bigger than you would think. It's not something you typically hear about, simply because the nature of this brand of gaming tends to coincide with what we in America typically considered "secretive". It's like how you can go through highschool and college campuses without hearing about students with pornographic products that often... but you know plenty of people have them. The market for this type of product is more of an undercover one, but it's certainly their, judging by discussions of this sort of game on major gaming sites. I never justified morality for anything. Slavery was wrong, and I am from the South and know both sides of the issue well, no tension exists here right? Not really, If anything slavery has had such a traumatic effect in the south people still demand reparation for it today. You don't really hear of people watching gone in 60 seconds demanding a free car from the movie company because they had one stolen - you do hear of rape victims having psychological issues throughout life. Yes, but neither do the rape victims attribute these psychological issues to pornographic movies? Depending on your religion, Things are weighed differently, Supposedly worrying is a sin, but you know, I dont see people ever mention little things like that as bad. But isn't freedom of religion one of our core beliefs? We weigh morals differently, true, but hasn't our country been founded on the concept that we would respect each others right to exercise their own moral beliefs, unless it infringes on the rights of others? We don't permit religions that condone human sacrifices, of course, but if we can accept murder and grand theft in simulations judging on our own morals, why doesn't this apply to other distasteful preferences? Also, there's the fact that not one religion I know of glorifies stealing, manslaughter, and escaping the law enforcement. Do I think if the civilians tried to run from car's, screamed and the bodies were mutilated and it was graphic, censoring would be a thought but did you know you will soon be able buy this in a regular mainstream toy isle or at least in FYE/Suncoast etc? Graphics and AI are separate issues, really. And I've played games like Diablo before... there's plenty of graphic, violent media in our society as well, with quality varying based on the generation. Anyhow, something tells me that even had this Rapelay game had poor AI and lower quality graphics, it would still have given rise to these protests... especially seeing as it seems to be anime - styled. George Patton, Robert E Lee, Grant, Macnamera, Doolittle, and others are men who killed in mass who are praised as hero's. Do you think the Nuclear bombing of Hiroshima was taken as mass murder to the US? War is hell, I bet the Japanese felt differently though. Do I think Rapists are despised more than murderers? Honestly yes. I know for me - I could find forgiveness easier in someone who shot someone vs someone who took a child's innocence. I guess alot of either people share my beliefs since most local county newspapers (At least in the south), Have a registered sex offender photo gallery every week in the paper. No such directories exist for thieves and murderers. I've often heard the argument the USA was founded on terrorism, after all - did we not terrorize the british goverment? First, I think you may have misinterpreted or misquoted someone. The US was founded on a rebellion, yes, but terrorism and revolution or insurgence are two very different concepts. Terrorism generally refers to the use of fear as a method of coercion. Placing a bomb in a building and demanding them surrender a sum of money. Taking hostages and demanding ransom. Destroying valuable property and killing hundreds of a people for the sake of scaring people, for the sake of making them feel unsafe. The American Revolution is really nothing like that. What it was, is a conflict of interest that could not be settled appropriately, and a digression from the subject at hand Also, war and mass murder are really two completely unrelated subjects. Even the best of men can't always agree, which is what spurs war. But that's different from, say, a school shooting, or the holocaust. Conflict is unavoidable, and unfortunately, in the past, we have been forced to resort to violence, but I'm pretty sure there's a difference between the Civil War, and the Holocaust. Finally, in regards to Hiroshima, the attack saved more lives than it cost. More Japanese lives, than it cost. It may seem ridiculous, but Japanese suffer greatly from pride. When the United States attacked Hiroshima, the war was already essentially over. However, the Japanese military leaders seemed determined to fight to the death, sacrificing not just soldiers, but their own civilians. The whole "island hopping" episode of the war was literally them refusing to accept a loss, and fighting every inch of the way, failing to acknowledge the continued death of their own people. Whether this justifies the attack or not, is again, a completely different topic. Anyways, my point is that there's a difference between a serial killer and a war hero. There's a difference between war and genocide. And there's a very big difference between a man who knowingly sells poisoned food nationwide in hopes of turning a profit and a man who leads a group of like minded people into war, to defend his own beliefs. I'm not saying that man is RIGHT, but there is definitely a moral difference in their actions, from any perspective. You can find a general's actions misguided, you can find his beliefs flawed, but there's a major difference between what he does, and what the CEO of Peanut Corp. just recently did.
  2. So... how is this a good thing? Violence is okay, murder is alright, simply because it's so common now? There's no arguing taste. I loved playing Disgaea, despite the story centralizing on a self-centered, powerful heir to the throne who would sooner blow up a planet than admit defeat. Which he did do. And, seeing as Hentai games have existed for years, I am pretty sure there are people out there who would enjoy games including sexual content. So it goes back to the question: Is it okay for games to permit you to explore fantasies that are considered immoral in reality? And if so, why the censorship? Why is it that I can role play the demon overlord, others can role play terrorists, but some other person can't role play a pedophile? So, because it's been done longer, it's okay right? Because, you know, slavery was considered a basic concept of life for a VERY long time... and there's no way that could've been wrong. How long something has been accepted is really irrelevant. Murder is morally wrong in our society, as is rape, as is pedophilia, as is terrorism. GTA - You're stealing a car in a sandbox environment and running over innocent civilians controlled by a poor AI. Whatever this game was called - You're running around in a sandbox environment raping innocent civilians controlled by an AI. Not sure if it's poor or not. I only see two differences there. The crime, and possibly the quality of the AI, although seeing as I would never bother playing it, and neither would anyone else on this thread (I hope), no one's going to find out. Are you trying to imply that if GTA had a better AI for civilians it would then be censored? If not, then it comes back to the question... we detest mass murderers and child rapists alike in our world. Why is it that we allow games to explore one fantasy, but not the other? Particularly when many people would easily vouch for mass murder being a worse crime? And this is the problem I see with our society. It's completely upside down. It's okay to have movies with people getting punched, kicked, shot, dropped off of cliffs, run over, hit by airplanes, hurled into grinders, thrown off a ship, keelhauled, drawn and quartered, etc. But if you show a woman's naked breast... oh dear you've crossed the line. So why is this line THERE of all places? We have a pretty strict order of how badly we perceive activities. Why is the line in a totally different place when it comes to our media? The answer? It's been there longer. Which is, as I've pointed out, [developmentally delayed]ed. Just because we've become accustomed to something doesn't make it right. We need to come up with a real answer: is it okay for us, as a society, to accept fictional entertainment that consists of greatly immoral behavior? It's incredibly hypocritical for people to protest Amazon selling this game, when Amazon is also a source of media permeated with violence, mass murder, and terrorism, that we accept without a second thought. Again. Why is it that people who enjoy rape games are sick but people who enjoy murder games and terrorism games aren't? I can't be the only person in the world who finds murder and mass terrorism and assassination far worse than rape. It comes down to the same problem. Humans have glorified violence forever. Therefore it's acceptable. And that's what I find sickening... we accept it because we've become so accustomed to it. This is wrong. Things should not be "okay" just because we've had them longer. We should make the decision: do we let people entertain their fantasies, which may or may not be heavily immoral? If so, then we should each make our own decision about what games we do and don't buy, and not make a huge fuss about what games a website is willing to sell. If not, then we should draw the line with respect to how bad the crimes actually are. *****EDIT*****: A friend has brought it to my attention that my statement, May seem hypocritical, so I'd like to explain it really quickly. I think the line should be redrawn of what is overall considered acceptable and unacceptable, particularly in regards to distributors. If we feel it's okay to permit games that essentially exist only to simulate illegal and immoral activity, then fine and dandy, but we should at least be fair in where we draw the line on what's allowed and not allowed, and I find our current "drawing of the line" so to speak as being horribly biased... and not in a good way. However, this says nothing to personal opinion. As the age old saying goes, "there's no arguing taste." If you personally find these games acceptable or unacceptable, that's your personal choice. But that's different from starting a ruckus on a business's website, demanding a game not be sold. If you do intend to play Rapelay, whatever, that's your choice. I will say you have a crude taste in entertainment, but I'd say that to players of GTA as well.
  3. The game has you rape a 10 year old child. Why do people keep skipping over this little bit I posted? Because, in my opinion, mass murder of innocent guards and civilians using an automated cannon that fires heavy steel cannonballs is far worse than the rape of a 10 year old child? Because, in my opinion, a game where you hunt down important people and slay them to strike terror in entire nations, is also worse than the rape of a 10 year old child? I'm sorry, but I must be in the minority who thinks that Osama Bin Laden's actions were worse than, say, Michael Jackson's. I must be in the minority who would prosecute mass murders more forcefully than a normal child rapist. #-o It all comes down to the same thing. Games let us do things that are illegal and frowned upon in real life. Some of them are horrible, some of them not quite. Why is it perfectly okay to role play the demon overlord Laharl who would annihilate a planet because he's a sore loser, to roleplay the terrorist organization hunting the president, to role play an insane, emotionless adventurer who would set up a dwarven made cannon in Falador square and murder the guards, but not okay to role play a pedophile? I'm not saying this in defense of this game, I am curious as to why we find a wide assortment of games that entail far worse crimes acceptable.
  4. Why is it that in our society, a pornographic game based on rape is not okay, yet, - Games revolving around capturing wild animals and making them fight to the death against each other is okay, - Games where your only purpose is to assassinate a VIP, such as the US President, with an assortment of weapons is okay, - Games that consist stealing cars and running over innocent civilians is okay, - Games that allow you to set up a fully automated turret-like cannon in a city square that kills civilians and guards alike, for the sake of "range training", is okay, - Games where you make money by killing dozens and dozens of wild animals of the same species in a row are okay, Etc. I don't think it's a bad thing this game was removed, but it's pretty disturbing that these other games entail committing crimes far worse, and yet none of them are looked down upon...
  5. Well...you could use a dragon mace. :P Or maybe it'll be the perfect place to use a future dragon warhammer! You'd get significantly less kills with a mace, and it's so quick to bank that slower and less kills wouldn't be worth the few pineapple pizzas saved. Though, if we ever got that warhammer, it could change things. :) Tzhaar-Ket-Em. Its attack is a bit lower but it does a good amount of damage and has the same attack speed as Zamorakian Spear and Saradomin Sword.
  6. They were necessary though. They had to be made so that people playing the DS generation of pokemon games could get the original pokemon. Or they could let you trade with Generation I and II games  They can't, due to the massive changes in game mechanics. There was at least one basic mechanic change between Generation I and Generation II that was implemented poorly. With Generation III, they wanted to redesign the system so it operated far more smoothly than before, hence, why there's no backwards compatibility from III and IV to I and II.
  7. It's nice to see tif doesn't discriminate against [developmentally delayed]. You guys are completely misunderstanding the entire concept of killing the CB, so I shall enlighten you. - One reason a player would kill the CB is because they want a sigil to make into a spirit shield. As it is near impossible to buy them on the GE, this is a logical reason to go. - Another reason a player would kill the CB is for fun. Obviously if someone considers something fun, that's a logical reason to do it. Those are the only 2 logical reasons for killing the CB. But if your only goal in going is to make money, well then that's not a very smart choice - statistically speaking. It's on par with deciding your going to make money in the real world not by having a job/career, but by playing the lottery. We where there to have fun and earn cash, and most of us benefited from that. 1.5M onyx bolt drops...etc We tried GWD for hours without luck. CB is more funar. We don't take selfish choices, we asked everyone and they wanted CS. As for LS, everyone keeps giving receipe to how to take advantage of it. Yet i have no screenshots as proof of them working... Pretty pathetic tbh. There's really no point in this argument. Want to know why Mad hasn't posted pictures yet? Maybe because throughout the hundreds of kills he's done, he hasn't gotten a drop yet? Maybe because the statistical drop rate is far lower than 1:53? The simple truth of the matter is that statistically, you are expected to make more per hour at God Wars, or heck, Dagannoth Kings, than at Corporeal Beast. The drop rates, given by the many many RSOF masses, both LS and CS, point to a ridiculously low rate. Which I believe is what Mad said in the first place. If you were there solely to make money, you are idiots, statistically speaking. From your post, it is obvious that that is not the case: you were there because it was fun. And if that's the case, then Mad's statement hardly applies to you... Please, this thread is ridiculous. One group criticizes the drop receivers for being financially stupid, when the team had other motives. This team then complains straight back about how anyone who uses lootshare is greedy. I assure you, teams do not use LS out of greed. When I was at CB for over 200 kills with my 3-man team, we had a pretty solid agreement: I wanted the divine sigil. Another member wanted Elysian. Another couldn't even wear the two upper shields, and wanted an AGS. We're friends. I wouldn't be upset at all, or "curse my life" as someone put it above, if we got an Elysian rather than a Divine, I'd be happy for my friend. The same would apply to him had we received a divine. And in either case, we'd be more than willing to help our last team mate get his long desired AGS.
  8. I actually go CB with lootshare, since my teammates at both God Wars and Corporeal Beast are close enough that we can usually come up with some sort of compromise. When we were killing the Corporeal, we all pretty much knew what each other wanted most, and we figured no matter who got the sigil, we'd sell it to the person who wanted that particular one (at the ridiculously low GE price). When you're boss hunting with friends, how to split the loot should rarely be a problem. You'll work things out... or should be able to, if you're really friends.
  9. Nah, Nick doesn't have a Mic, but he still hangs out in our Skype chatroom. And I miss Lee too. :(
  10. It was only this quarter that I realized college isn't really friendly at all. Up to now, I've breezed through all my classes. This quarter, I decided to add a fourth class. Clever little me didn't realize that I managed to sign up for 3 upperclassmen level classes. I come home from my winter vacation to be flooded in homework, homework, and more homework. Third week of class has me writing 3 essays, reading 60 pages and writing 2 summaries based on them, and reading another 100 pages in the most boring textbook ever written. But enough of that. I finally managed to catch up, so the begging of the members of our little Skype hangout caught my attention, and it was back to the God Wars Dungeon. A Bandos trip ends in disaster, thanks to our infamous colleague, Jard Y Dooku, as well as a perfectly timed blackout. Then it's time for Zil. Two trips in a row, I try void, and I end up getting killed by Bree and Starlight. Literally. What a great return to God Wars! A few days after, I get clamors of "Arma Arma Arma!" Oh great, the one boss I REALLY don't like. Nevertheless, I'm game... until I realize I neither have Armadyl armor, nor typical ranging gear. Void waves hi. Teammates are getting KC... and we have a team of 6 or so. Void waves hi again. I put on the void, and grab my killcount as well. About an hour later, we're finally armed, with killcount, with me wearing the void that I died twice with in the past two trips. This was shaping up to be a great trip. And it was. Within 5 or 6 kills, we've got a nice Arma helm split sitting on the ground. It's a bit low, really, only 700K or so per person IIRC, but hey, everyone else is cheering, everyone else is happy, so I'm happy too. Until I see my brother, Muddybob say "What the heck? 21M split?" Across the hall I go, and find that he indeed is holding 21M cash. Maybe because he forgot to bank his money after buying his potions from the Grand Exchange. Here we go, down the roller coaster. Within 20 minutes, our 6 man trip has become a 3 man trip. Short is going "How the heck did this happen?" in his corner, Mad is shaking his head, swearing never to go after Kree with us again in another, and I knew precisely what was going to happen next. It was pretty obvious really, me in the void I'd said I'd never wear again at GWD with 4 or less people, on a 3 man trip. "Oh dear, you have died!" The aftermath of the trip was, I had to go back for my void, Short was too busy laughing to say anything, Mad had promised never to go Kree with us again, and Muddybob was sitting in the Armadyl's Eyrie, with his full gear and 40 killcount, thinking we were doing another trip. That brings us to tonight. It's homework night in our little Skype partyroom. Mad's got his physics, I've got my Democraticwhat'sitcalled, and Short has his Caligula essay, and plenty of physics and calculus. And Muddybob is still sitting in Armadyl's Eyrie, with 40 killcount, waiting for us to go Arma with him. After Mad gets through most of his physics, I rope him into doing a 4-man with us somehow (he rarely keeps his promises ;)), so it's him, Muddybob, Artemis1330, and me. This time in actual range gear, not void. Muddy had his killcount already. I grab mine next. Then Mad gets his. Then we all realized Artemis bailed on us. Oh well. We can't really wait, seeing as we've all got classes tomorrow, so we figured we'd trio it. "Ready?" I ask. "Ready!" comes the answer. I walk in with protect range on. Mad walks in with protect range on. Muddy walks in without prayer on. Muddy gets hit. Muddy turns on protect magic. Muddy dies. "How the hell did you manage that!?" Yea. He waited for a WEEK at Armadyl's Eyrie, asking every day to go Arma, only to walk in and turn on protect mage. I already know this trip is going to end in disaster but I figured we may as well finish the first kill. I keep shooting, keep shooting. Meanwhilst, I see comments like: "Seriously?" "Fail of the century goes to Han (Muddybob)." "*Waits a week at arma with KC*" "Madmanpur3 has just died." ****. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Here I am, staring down a massive bird that I've never, never bothered solo-ing, and is my least favorite of all four bosses to fight. The boss who's NEVER given me an Armadyl Hilt, be it CS, LS, or normally. The boss who always kills half my teammates and forces me to teleport. And I'm alone. Well, he's low health, and he's still blowing this huge gusts at me... I guess I'll keep shooting. There's another 0. Oh boy he's getting closer now. There's another 0. A 31. There's the weird shrieking sound when it dies... and there's no lootshare message. Oh right, everyone's dead. So what's the drop? Hmm... I've never seen that before. Wait. What? Does that really say Armadyl Hilt? "Bless me?" "Okay..." I bless the grave and take another look. "Really? Armadyl Hilt?" I click it. It goes to my inventory, and it still says Armadyl Hilt. I altar out of the room and look again. And I examine it. "Brimming with potential." "You guys aren't going to believe this..." Oh, and as you hopefully realize, I really found it hard to believe it was actually a hilt til I already altar teled. I got a screenshot later, after both Muddy and Mad insisted I post it. I know there'll be some disbelievers... but whatever. Here's a picture of me still in the Eyrie with the hilt, if that'll satisfy you. [hide=Armadyl Hilt][/hide] And Mad insists I'm a horrible story teller. Sucks to be him. :P Anyhow, I'm probably going to find some way to transfer this to Muddy, seeing as he's the only one of us without a Godsword, and have him pay Mad a chunk of cash. Keeping a second Armadyl Godsword as a bankspace marker seems a tad wasteful. As Suze always says, People first, then money, then things.
  11. It sounds like the slayer xp from Soul Wars is underrated. I remember barely managing 10K an hour while getting 85 slayer myself. It's no doubt faster, now, but 6K an hour without actually having to teleport around doing slayer tasks on average isn't bad at all, and that's assuming 2 points per game, roughly 3 games per hour.
  12. Outrage, Meteor, Dragon Claw, Dragon Pulse. Not to mention, every dragon has a second type with which it can get more STAB moves. Garchomp - Earthquake. Outrage. Two high power, 100 Accuracy STAB moves... + space for a type coverage move (likely fire fang), and a space for swords dance. Or Dragon Claw if you want to use a dragon attack early in a battle. There's no reason NOT to use Outrage in-game, because most Pokemon in the wild go down in one hit so confusion doesn't matter. Same goes for trainers, just use it when they're down to two Pokemon and it's over. Kingdra - You mentioned it, and it has great STAB moves. Waterfall and Surf depending on which set you're running. Salamence - Good point on Salamence... he doesn't really get many good STAB flying moves. But IIRC he gets Aerial Ace, which'll work. Great for in-game thanks to foggy areas, or sandstorm areas + sand veil. Or for battle tower. You don't need 4 STAB moves. In fact, you very rarely want more than 2 STAB moves. The type that REALLY suffers from lack of STAB is Psychic, simply because it doesn't have many GOOD stab moves. Zen Headbutt - 80 Power, 90 Accuracy, Physical, flinches Psychic - 90 Power, 100 Accuracy, Special, lowers their special defense That's really about all of the general psychic moves. You've got a bunch like Confusion and Extrasensory, that are really not very useful. You also have some special ones like... Psycho Boost. Guess what? Not a lot can use Psycho Boost. On the other hand, let's look at water: Waterfall - 80 Power, 100 Accuracy, Physical, flinches Surf - 95 Power, 100 Accuracy, Special Hydro Pump - 120 Power, 85 Accuracy, Special Aqua Tail - 90 Power, 90 Accuracy, Physical Plenty of good choices here, notably the two HMs. Dragon: Dragon Claw - 80 Power, 100 Accuracy, Physical Dragon Rush - 100 Power, 75 Accuracy, Physical, flinches Dragon Pulse - 90 Power, 100 Accuracy, Special Outrage - 120 Power, 100 Accuracy, Physical, confuses after 2-3 turns Draco Meteor - 140 Power, 90 Accuracy, Special, lowers your Special Attack It's not the BEST set, but it's still pretty darn good. Outrage and Draco Meteor are great if you use them correctly. Save outrage for the end of a battle, or carry a Lum berry. Use Draco Meteor on an all physical set. 140 attack + STAB is enough to do a massive amount of damage regardless of all other factors. As long as you only use it once, it's just a godly OHKO move in-game. None of your other moves are affected. Honestly, just look at that compared to Psychic... can you seriously say Dragons got the shaft with their STABs? The thing is, you don't need a moveset that has Thunderbolt, Thundershock, Thunder, and Spark. It's just pointless. Thunderbolt or Thunder alone is good... Thundershock and Spark, STAB or not, are simply wasted space. Dragon's don't have a large variety of STAB attacks, but the STAB attacks they have are mostly pretty good. They don't have something silly like.... ember. Or watergun. Or Vine whip.
  13. Are you even reading? The "person in matter" said that the Tyranitar / Charizard / Alakazam or Gengar team was for battle frontier. AKA Battle Tower. And yes, the Battle Tower is designed against you. It starts out easy, with your opponent hardly knowing how to switch in, and using pre evolved Pokemon. After you beat the Tycoon the second time, you start seeing well built teams, EV-d correctly... with strategies like: - Double Teaming Blissey - Double Teaming SubSeeding Ludicolo - Quick Claw OHKO - Choice Sweepers - etc. Also, it's been proven that standard odds don't apply in battle tower. Hypnosis has 60% in Platinum. Expect maybe 20-30% after you've past 50 in Battle Tower. OHKO is 30% accurate. Don't be surprised at all when your opponent Quick Claws, then OHKO hits, three times in a row. It's happened to dozens of people. Battle Tower is a significant raise in difficulty over the normal gameplay, because a) EVs are applied, B) Perfect IVs are given, and c) odds are weighed against you. 100% still stays 100%... but bright powder can easily show up and turn your 100% to a 90%. And you'll find yourself missing half the time. If the computer is using good EVs, IVs, and movesets, and you want to beat it despite the stacked odds, you're going to need to cheat, or have good EVs, IVs, movesets, and even better strategy. Oh, and be open minded to legendaries. Not all of them are overpowered, in fact, most of them are weaker than some of the non legendary Pokemon. Battle Tower also permits the use of many legendaries, which fit in well with specific other Pokemon.
  14. Being logical =/= being nerdy. And honestly, have you tried battle tower before? Have you gotten anywhere in it? Even with a well-prepared team I can rarely get past 50 wins or so. It's like any other strategy-based game, there are good strategies, there are bad strategies. If you're playing through the "easy mode", strategies don't matter and whatever works. But when you play against another person, or you play a more challenging part of the game, you need as good of a team as you can get. So far, every time someone's asked for advice, you've given pretty much the worst possible... it sounds like you've never even tried playing against another person, or going for the Battle Tower star on your trainer card. It's not a bad thing that you want to help, but you should at least accept that your advice isn't always going to be right. And just for the record, I'm not claiming to be very good at it myself. I'm passable at best, barely managing a 2:1 Win-Loss Ratio on the Smogon Server, which, as anyone who uses it can attest to, isn't really all that good. However, I definitely DO know what works and doesn't work on some of the more common, better Pokemon.
  15. My current team is on Shoddy, but if you want, I could copy it over to the DS one day. I might revamp it though, the team I use is a bit gimmicky.
  16. Cooked lobsters have a price ceiling of 368 gp. I wish I had the data, the charts, a screenshot. But when PVP came out, you could not buy a cooked lobster on the GE for more than 368 gp, even though I'm sure people wanted to pay upwards of 500 gp per. In fact, for several days the middle price of a cooked lobster was the same as the max, 368 gp. Swordfish is another example - the max you could buy a swordfish for was around 470 gp. I know this because I bought about 25k of each before pvp was introduced, waited for 2k weeks afterwards, and saw this with my own eyes. Oh, and rune armour too. It was somewhere around 70k maximum for a platebody. You can know that a price is fixed when the median is closer to one end than another. And rune scimitars. And 2hs. Actually, pretty much all f2p combat related stuff had price ceilings. But I'm betting that you didn't see any of this, you didn't try to buy rune armour or scims or 2hs about 2 weeks after pvp came out. Trust me though, they were there. I said they "do" not, not that they "did" not. I know they had price ceilings, but soon after the uproar about the raw chompy prices, Jagex removed almost all of them. There may still be one or two left, but they are based on store prices, as Jagex has said in the KB.
  17. Uhh. No. Dream eater is silly. If you're playing with or against Platinum, don't even use hypnosis. Platinum nerfed Hypnosis to 60% accuracy. If you're playing with and against D/P, then you have better things to do with free turns than Dream Eater. Psychic attacks as a whole aren't very useful thanks to all the good dark and steel types (Scizor, Bronzong, Tyranitar, Metagross, etc). The healing is nice, but it usually doesn't amount to much. Besides, in BT or against any decent player, you can expect them to switch out a sleeping Pokemon... unless it's a sleep talker, which is bulky enough to take the dream eater and smash your Gengar to pieces. In D/P hypnosis hits kinda accurately, sleep on average is, what, 2 turns? So thats 2 turns of a 100% hitting and 50% healing attack. Sleep talk cant hit gengar. And if they switch out then you switch out -.- A) Sleep talk CAN hit Gengar. SNORE can't hit Gengar. Sleep Talk is used, Snore isn't... for obvious reasons. B) If they switch out, then you switch out, you're giving them a free turn to setup... + in competitive play and in battle tower, you are prohibiting yourself from using hypnosis again. C) 60% isn't "kinda accurately", it's 60%. For the sake of argument, let's say you have a Gengar at 65%. That way dream eater's recovery does matter. You put them to sleep. A) They let you hit them with dream eater. That means either you're doing less than 30%, which means they can wake up and recover away... so you get some free healing, but leftovers could've achieved this, or it means they're carrying sleep talk. B) They run away. That means they're going to a Pokemon that Gengar probably can't do much to. No Hypnosis, because of sleep clause. So now you get to run, that means either they can pursuit, and no more Gengar, or it means they can Dragon Dance / Swords Dance / Calm Mind / Curse / Nasty Plot / Agility. Alternatively, if you used substitute, A) They stayed in. Now you have a substitute, and you can use Focus Blast / Shadowball from behind the Substitute, both of which are more powerful than Dream Eater. Leftovers will heal you up while they're asleep, and if they wake up, you can just sleep them again. However, if they sleep talk, you lose a substitute and 25% hp. Then you can bring your Gengar out. B) They run away. You set up a sub. Pursuit? Blocked by Sub while you blast them to pieces. Setup? Blast them to pieces. Focus Blast + Shadowball covers most things. To beat you, they're going to have to go for something faster than you are, or something VERY high in special defense. If it's the latter, you can still get a free hit while they break your sub, before switching to the appropriate counter.
  18. My misinformation last post was my mistake then. 1-2 pies sold at max will be lucky to account for a 1% increase in price due to the huge volume of demand that is in the Raw Wild Pie market. If the GE operates on complete transactions, there is no possible way for the pies to increase 111.2% over a month. Your explanation is like me saying if I buy 1 TVs from Best Buy each day, I will increase the price of the TV from $1000 to $2000 in 30 days. As for the pattern, a price ceiling adjust will require manual change. And no one will time the changes exactly to the second. The reason why the price ceiling is not completely removed in my opinion is that Jagex has programmed in a check for themselves to prevent either possible hacking or sabotage of the GE system. Imagine if a person hacks into Jagex database and changed the price of tinderbox to 1m, that can not be allowed. Therefore, Jagex probably built in a fail safe so that a game will not be destroyed in 1 hasty act. Of course this is my speculation. However, the truth can not be denied, there is a price ceiling on items within the GE. 1) No. You're not listening. As long as a single transaction of that good is conducted that day, the price will raise to the value of the transactions completed. The amount being traded is irrelevant. This is why myself, and hundreds, possibly thousands, of others continually complain that the GE needs fixing. The GE's system is horribly, horribly designed. However, the system is what it is. 2) There IS NO PRICE CEILING. 3rd age items ARE traded, just not very frequently. That's why the price changes occur irregularly, once every few days or so. Jagex has stated clearly multiple times that price ceilings do not exist, and any item that appears to have a ceiling is one that is not traded frequently. 3) If Jagex's database is hacked, they'd have a damn lot more to worry about than a price for a single item that isn't being traded anyways. That, they could fix with minutes. There is absolutely no reason they'd bother implementing such a "fail safe." EDIT: Correction, there are no KNOWN price ceilings. And by the way, the easiest way to check for a price ceiling is that the median price will be equal to the maximum price. Look at items with known price floors... Maple Longbow (u) for instance. 144 min, 144 median. Unless an item is 1 gp (which means it's locked for another reason but not a ceiling), the maximum price is always greater than the median price.
  19. Assuming we go by your model of complete transactions. 2 Wild Pies exchanging hands would only increase the price by at most 50gp. There is no way to achieve the 111.2% increase with those 2 pies. As for price ceilings, take a look at the 3a item 3a amulet on the GE. Notice the pattern in the increased rate. The line appears flat for 6 days then jumps on the 7th. That shows the gradual increase of the price ceiling that Jagex is implementing. If you really want to argue about the 3a market, you should refer to micro economics and look at the effects of faulty price control. I have made a topic about that on the RSOF once, but that topic was not well bumped and it has already died. As for price floors, look at your common junk such as Maple Longbow (u). It will give a clear indication that Price Floors exist in RS. What are you talking about? Raw wild pie increased by 111.2% over a MONTH. That's THIRTY days for raw wild pies to be sold, and THIRTY chances for a 5% increase. Take 105% to the 30th power, and what do you get? 432%. That means that a single pie sold each day can account for up to 332% increase in price over a month, which is the figure I'm assuming you're looking at. The "pattern" isn't very consistent, please note that. It doesn't always occur every 7 days. Sometimes it occurs every 5, sometimes it occurs every 8 or 9. For a while, the price wasn't increasing at all. This isn't a price ceiling. This is the fact that it's not being sold every day, it's only being sold once every 5-9 days (which is the rough range). I'm sure if you go back further, perhaps to the point where 3a was right about to temporarily crash, you'll see a steady increase over 2-3 days. EDIT: Jagex specifically states in the KB as well that the GE has no limitations besides price floors based on other in-game prices (such as stores and alchemy). Although that may not be 100% true, it seems to fit with everything we do know about the GE.
  20. The possible 1-2 Wild Pies sold is negligible, it is too small of a number to have a general effect on the overall GE pricing. A look on the GE database reveals a +111.2% increase in 30 days. 1-2 pies can not do that. As for 3a and spirit shields, that is a discussion for the price floors and price ceiling of the GE, which is not relevant to a discussion about clan merchant and the operation of the GE. EDIT: It seems that Raw Wild Pies and Opulent Tables has both stopped rising for a day. It is quite possible that this is due to the price ceiling placed on the GE for these items. Otherwise, it is a failure for the Database to update the current prices. There is no price floor or ceiling on spirit shields or third age. And no, 1-2 wild pies sold is NOT negligible, because of the design of the Grand Exchange. Look at the GE graph for raw wild pies again. Notice that there is a 2-day period in which it increased... and the line is linear. That means it increased at the same rate (approximately 5%, modified for rounding). Notice that other times, it doesn't increase. I can assure you that plenty of people have been offering to buy it EVERY DAY, not just those 2 days. This is a failure of the Grand Exchange itself, a faulty design. The Grand Exchange SHOULD operate as the TC suggested, considering supply and demand. However, Jagex designed it to operate only on completed transactions, basing price changes not on the QUANTITY of exchange, but on the price that transactions have been completed at. Price floors only exist based on the in-game values, be it store or alchemy. Price ceilings, to my knowledge, do not exist yet (although there may be one at the GP cap.)
  21. The Grand Exchange has different rates of increase and decrease in price. It can be shown in items such as the D claws, Opulent Tables, and Raw Wild Pie. Assuming like you said, the GE has a blank slate, currently no one is selling Raw Wild Pies. I decide at this time that I will put in an offer for 500 of them at maximum price. According to you, because no transactions are being made, the price is frozen. That is not the case as Raw Wild Pie's price is increasing because it registers 500 demand vs 0 supply. If I chose to offer at below medium price, that is a case when the price will not register toward demand and sit there waiting for an offer of supplying to complete said transaction. As for the last paragraph, you basically just reworded everything I wrote in my first post >.> The Grand Exchange does not look at uncompleted transactions. This has been proved many, many times over, in less traded items. Look at the three items you listed: Dragon Claws - Coinshare Raw Wild Pie - Easily accessible, so not unlikely at all that someone would choose to sell it. Opulent Tables - Look at the price chart. Some days it raises, some days it doesn't. Occasionally someone may sell one of these, since these are another of those "collect in bulk" items. Now let's look at some frozen items that are less likely to be randomly traded. Partyhats... guess what? Most of them don't move a lot. Divine and Elysian Spirit shields... guess what? Again, they aren't moving a lot. I know at least a dozen people offhand who have offers for divine and elysian spirit shields and sigils. Why is it, then, that there is almost never a change in price? The minor changes are due to tied items, Elixirs, Spirit Shields, and Blessed Spirit Shields. The Sigils and Shields themselves are never traded, despite the massive amount of offers, and therefore, never change in price besides reconciliation. Grand Exchange prices change based on completed transactions, not offers. Even if there were 10K Divine Spirit Shield offers, unless one was sold, the price would not change.
  22. You know how supply and demand works, I'll grant you that. The problem is that you don't know how the GE works. If an item is frozen in price, Jagex does NOT register the overwhelming supply or demand. Rather, they only take into account the amount of goods sold, and the price at which they were sold, and occasionally, "tied" prices. The GE starts as a blank slate, with 0 offers to buy, and 0 offers to sell. The first offer placed checks with every other offer. That is, if an item goes from 500k to 700k, and you offer 600K, is anyone selling it for 600k or less? Not yet, because the only offer so far is yours. The next offer now looks at your offer and see if it completes theirs. If not, it adds another offer to the list. It thus creates a sort of "list". The idea of GE manipulation is to buy so much of a product at once that it completes EVERY offer to sell, or nearly every offer to sell. That means anyone else who wants to buy will not have their offer completed at a lower price, and will instead wait til the next person selling... but there are already offers in line, offering to buy at max. The item continues to be purchased at maximum, tricking the poorly designed AI into thinking that demand is higher, because trades are completed at the upper bound.
  23. Uhh. Shadowball has better type coverage, STAB, and the same secondary effect as Psychic. Focus Blast expands your type coverage to include pretty much every Pokemon in the game at neutral. If you're using Hypnosis, go with Substitute and carry leftovers. Alakazam was great when Fire Punch / Thunder Punch / Ice Punch were special attacks. Unfortunately, with DPP, Alakazam's movepool is limited. Both Gengar and Alakazam are fast and have high special attack. However, Gengar has a huge advantage in that it is immune to 3 types of attacks, two of which are very common. Alakazam is immune to 0. Both are frail enough to be mashed to bits by any decent fighter, so it's very hard to get an Alakazam in safely. Alakazam isn't bad at all, it's just outclassed. If you're playing in-game or battle tower, feel free to use either one, they're both excellent. But don't use dream eater... :wall: [hide=Me Forgetting who said this]Can you replace Zapdos? I'm not really a fan of legendary pokemons in my team. Other pokemons would be Kingdra, Spiritomb, and Honchkrow[/hide] Kingdra isn't suited to your team at all. If you want to use Kingdra, you'll need a team specifically built around it. I don't know much about Honchkrow, but looking at its stats, it's probably not the best choice. Spiritomb can work, but you'll need a healing move. If you really don't want Zapdos, try: Spiritomb @ Leftovers Calm, 252 HP, 152 Special Defense, 104 Defense - Sleep Talk - Rest - Dark Pulse - Calm Mind Use Calm Mind to raise Dark Pulse's power, then when you get low, go to sleep and spam sleep talk. This'll soak up status effects well, but is less versatile for fighting.
  24. Ur just jeloz bcuz u cant b so kewl laik he. Yeah, I can't understand people who kill players with clearly <25k of items... #-o Buncha noobs, like when I got attacked by a team of ancienters doing a clue :shame: During a clue makes sense. If you're doing it on a PvP world it means you're likely carrying 75k worth of stuff for drop potential, otherwise, you wouldn't be on a PvP world. Also, if you're doing a clue, you might have already finished it and have loot on you.
  25. I'd disagree here a bit. My Umbreon has Mean Look, Toxic, Moonlight, and probably something like Faint Attack. It's only been used on Shoddy Battle, but if I can trap something that can't damage it much, it's great. I've always figured Umbreon was more for support and generally soaking hits instead of direct attacks... Though Payback would fit  He's playing in-game, not shoddy. Umbreon has a few effective competitive sets, but none of them are really suited for going through in-game. In general, you never want a purely defensive Pokemon for in-game play. It's just not worth it. And it doesn't sound like he's using his Eevee team in battle tower. However, Spark is useless even in-game... and I'm still not sure where he was getting bubblebeam on Glaceon. :D [hide=Old Team]Drapion - Poison/Dark - Toxic Plate *Toxic *Poison Jab *Crunch *Substitute Infernape - Fire/Fighting - Flame Plate *Close Combat *Flare Blitz *Rest *Sleep Talk Metagross - Steel/Psychic - Iron Plate *Earthquake *Zen Headbutt *Meteor Smash *Light Screen[/hide] First, you have a major problem with psynergy here. That is, your team doesn't work together at all. You have 3 Pokemon vulnerable to ground attacks. While you've selected good moves on each of them, the moves themselves don't work together well. Right away, the items have to go. Sorry but a 20% boost to a specific type isn't worth the slot. Before you assemble your team, collect these: - Leftovers - Choice Band - Choice Scarf - Choice Specs - Focus Sash - Life Orb These are some of the more common, and very good items. Of course depending on your team, you may also want a few other items. - Light Clay (Screen Support) - Damp Rock / Heat Rock (Weather Support) Now for your team in particular. Infernape and Metagross are both great Pokemon. Infernape is versatile and fast. Metagross is bulky, and a great physical fighter. Unfortunately, Drapion isn't quite as good. Since all three are weak to ground, I would suggest getting rid of Drapion right away. Now the biggest thing with any BT team is the lead. You only have three Pokemon, and the first one will practically define the battle for you. A typical competitive lead is a BAD idea, seeing as those leads are meant for much longer battles. So let's take a look at our options. - We can cripple their lead. This is done via Thunderwave, Will-O-Wisp, Spore, or other statuses. Trick also tends to do the job. - We could overpower their lead. For this, you'd want a fast attacker, and I mean FAST. It also needs to be strong enough to take them down almost always in a single hit. - We could set up for the rest of your team. If you opt for the first, then here would be a good lead: Breloom @ Choice Scarf Jolly, 252 Attack, 252 Speed - Spore - Trick - Leech Seed - Substitute Spore immediately, taking advantage of your ridiculously high speed thanks to choice scarf. Then run away. Either they'll keep sleeping, or they'll go to another Pokemon. Later on, bring Breloom back in if you have a chance, and either Spore again... or give THEM the choice scarf, making them fast, but unable to switch moves. Leech Seed + Substitute are really filler, although if you get a chance you could seed, then continually use substitute to drain their HP. If you reach this point, Breloom has already done its job. Accompanying this, you would want two Pokemon that are good for setting up. I would recommend Metagross, since it's less likely to fall in one hit if they chose to switch. Metagross @ Leftovers Adamant, 100 Hp, 252 Attack, 156 Speed - Agility - Meteor Mash - Earthquake - Explosion Switch in Metagross when the opponent is asleep, and use agility. Bam. Now you're packing nearly 400 speed and can smash through whatever he's got. Following this, you'll probably want a special-based fighter. Also, since you've already got two speed-based Pokemon, your last Pokemon would be best to rely on defense instead. Zapdos @ Leftovers Calm, 252 HP, 200 Special Defense, 56 Speed - Roost - Thunderbolt - Heatwave - Reflect Thunderbolt and Heatwave are a bit weak thanks to the lack of Special Attack EVs. However, it's something you can deal with. Zapdos has excellent attack regardless, and with Reflect, can take physical hits as well as special hits. Roost recovers very well. [hide=New Team]Breloom @ Choice Scarf Jolly, 252 Attack, 252 Speed - Spore - Trick - Leech Seed - Substitute Metagross @ Leftovers Adamant, 100 Hp, 252 Attack, 156 Speed - Agility - Meteor Mash - Earthquake - Explosion Zapdos @ Leftovers Calm, 252 HP, 200 Special Defense, 56 Speed - Roost - Thunderbolt - Heatwave - Reflect[/hide] If you favor one of the other options, post, and also post some other Pokemon that you like.
