  1. Well, even though people come in here and really do nothing but voice their opinion, I like to see the way people think. It intrigues me to see what different people base their thoughts on and what they deem to be important to put faith into. Occasionally, there are times when someone will come in and we will have a serious discussion (even though that seems rare now), and that is always fun. The thing that really bothers me about the discussions that do take place (no matter how frivolous) is some people really seem to be in here for the wrong reasons. Some people just like to get a rise out of others by making them mad, and that's alright. :P But, not all the time. You know, I come in here and talk about my cat pictures, or funny things that have happened to me, but I hope that the majority of the regulars here have seen my serious side, because in real life, I am a very quiet, serious person who enjoys to have deep conversations. I also like the discussions in here that allow for us to get to know each other. ^_^ I'm very interested in the way people live in other regions of the world, and I like very much to get to know different people and find new friends, even if they aren't like the ones I have in real life. I'm always looking to broaden my horizons and gain new knowledge and this forum can really help with that sometimes. No. I don't really think that what we do talk about here is useless. Sometimes it is. But, not extremely often.
  2. Becomes a big problem when people start taking advantage of you because of a good deed you do for them. Be careful about some actions, and make it clear it's a one-time thing. Yeah. I know about that. I used to have people take advantage of me a lot. Not just for small favors either. I got tired of it, and decided to be more careful about what I do.
  3. What's wrong with that?  Nothing wrong with that. It's just most of the time, I don't have the time, flexibility, or space to do that.
  4. Well, when I get depressed, angry, confused, anxious, or frustrated, I meditate. No. I don't contort myself into weird positions, link my fingers together and hum. :P I just close my eyes, take some deep breaths, and clear all the thoughts from my head. I maintain this for as long as possible. It really does help. Even during hard tests. :D
  5. Just doing something to help someone out. :D If someone drops their books in the hallway, help them pick them up. Hold the door open for someone, take their worksheet up to the front of the room and turn it in for them, help them with their homework, be there to console someone, or just be there for small talk. ^_^ It doesn't have to be something huge like, giving them your paycheck. The small things really do add up.
  6. Agreed. They should be easy enough to understand, and you can explain easily what you got out of it.

If I was offered the chance to be immortal, I wouldn't take it. I think everyone is meant to die someday. We all need our rest.
  8. You can also talk about the way society was organized, like the upper and lower class. :D

In my opinion, teachers are overworked and underpaid for the stuff that they have to put up with. I say this over and over again because my mom is a teacher. She teaches Special Education in Elementary school (here in America, that's roughly ages 6-12). The kids that she teaches have behavioral and developmental disorders. The oldest kid she has in that class is 14 and still in Elementary school (6th grade for America). She comes home so stressed out every single day. I often spend my free time over in her classroom to help out her kids. They're a wild bunch. She tries to teach them, but they have no attention span and don't really care about their education... Not that they're old enough to realize how important it is anyway. I've asked my mom if it depresses her, that the kids misbehave, and that they just seem to forget the things they learned even yesterday. But, she offered some very profound words to me. She said that even though the children can make her feel unimportant, and though some of them are just there because it's their right, some of them really do enjoy being there, and try their hardest and those kids make her feel good. I then, remembered all the times one of the kids would walk up to me and ask me to help them with their worksheets, or with their reading. ^_^ Though those kids are just there now, they might actually grow up to be something. They all seem determined enough. I can understand why someone would want to be a teacher. ^_^ But, it's not the job for me. Have you ever taken a public speaking class? If so, you learn many skills in there that can help you with your presentation. 1. Be congenial, yet tactful. 2. Speak clearly and loudly (but don't yell. :P). If you speak softly, then the kids won't take you seriously. 3. Maintain eye contact with them. Kids can be vicious. It's true that they can smell your fear or apprehension and use it to take control of you. Eye contact can also help them to really understand what you are saying. Don't stare anyone down, but just sweep your eyes across the room. 4. Make sure your body language indicates that you are the boss of the classroom and expect your words to be taken seriously. Don't move as though you are withdrawing from the world. Make your hand motions arm motions. Make them broad and deliberate. Don't be afraid to move around either. Just don't pace back and forth. That can make your audience uncomfortable. 5. Speak with conviction! This is soooo important, I can't stress it enough! I remember a guy who made a speech last year on tornadoes. He cited one of his sources as "The Book of Tornadoes by Ben Dover". He said it with such conviction that no one even questioned him! The truth was, he spent five minutes preparing his presentation, and just stood up there and wasted time. But, he actually talked as though he were believing in what he was saying, and got one of the best grades in the class. 6. Remember who you are talking to. Don't treat the kids as though they know nothing, and don't treat them as if they know everything. Be respectful to them, and they should return your respect. Now, as for your lesson plan, it looks very well-thought out, especially for just fifteen minutes. Don't lose your cool, and you should do fine. ^_^ Remember that it's good to go by your lesson plan, but don't go by it too strictly. Just be comfortable and you should do fine. :D I wish you luck!
  10. I can tell my family members apart by their foot steps... Yes. I can tell my family members apart by their foot steps too. But, that's because I've lived with them all my life. But, he was talking about just about anyone he's heard walk before.
  11. Oh... man... That hurt me just reading it. I hope you feel better soon. :(
  12. You guys are lucky I'm here than. 8-) Only one rule for the bunker, NO FAT CHICKS.  Surely mine and Nadril's combined power will be enough to secure a 1337 underground storm bunker. Your not a fat chick are you?... ... *runs*   I'm not a fat chick. :D

  14. An often poor person, who has bad taste, wears 'ghetto' clothes, chains, gang symbols, that kind of stuff. UK- Chav, US- Wigger.
  15. In the US, we call them cars and lawyers too. :P
  16. I would spend as much time with my loved ones as possible. Then, I might go find Nadril, bring some of my friends and family as well as supplies, and we will be the most 1337 underground storm bunker around.
  17. But your "flashlights" don't flash. :P Ah. Yes we can make them flash by turning them on and off! :D And, when the batteries start to die, they do flash. Your "torches" will never become fire! :P
  18. :wall: Why? There is no fire involved. That one has always puzzled me.
  19. Alright. Thank you. :D In the US: Underpants/underwear (we have a lot of other silly terms for it)= knickers. Jam and Preserves are the same things I think. Jelly is like Jam and Preserves. You use it for the same thing, but I think it's called Jelly because it's made differently. Gelatin desert for us is Jello.
  20. I never really got what "knickers" are. Are they underwear? I'm American and I've never heard someone refer to underwear as "pants". :? Apparently, here in America, Jelly, Jam, and Preserves are three completely different things. Jam may = Preserves though. I'm not sure.
  21. I tend to look at the name of the topic. There aren't a lot of people here that I truly find to be stupid. I give everyone a chance. :D
  22. I love me some Darwin Awards. :D
  23. Looks just lovely, dusqi! ^_^
  24. Aaaww... Don't worry. I'm sure your mom is fine and will come home soon. And if you are that worried then try and call your mom, like warrior said. ^_^

I'm scared of heights. :( One time, me and my brother climbed a really tall tower in the mountains. It was an old fashioned tower that was used to spot forest fires (made of wood). When we got to the top, the wind was blowing and I felt like the tower was leaning from side to side. It was soooo scary. I clenched my fists until I cut myself with my fingernails. I'll never ever go back up there again. I also get really scared around a large group of people. For that reason, I really hate Christmas shopping with the crowds and everything. I have to go outside of the mall for awhile to get some fresh air, otherwise I feel as though I'm going to pass out. I really hate it.
