Spiders, around 10 years ago when I was 8, I was playing in the garden, then I see the HUGE green spider crawling on a fence. I ran like a screaming girl, (I'm a girl, but I don't scream :P) I've always hated one. And death by drowning, haven't really got a good reason why, but it's just. Ughr.

Crits: Work on anatomy, I see some errors in her arm and foot. You should work on your composition, perspective, background. And please, don't highlight with white, it only goes bad, instead use lighter colour (if having dark brown, go brown, light brown etc) But it all should go forward :D Nothing comes over the night, so good luck, matey :

If I had more time, I would have taken more time to go in the details in the hair. As I said, there are many different ways to draw hair. I find that one the best for me. It's kinda tricky, but you should hopefully see what I mean? :P

Fyi, the only reason I post links to tuts and criticisms, is because I want you to became a better artist. I'll get together how I do hair after school, won't be much, just a small coverage.

Burn/dodge is still the spawn of something evil. By large I mean 1000x1000px or higher.

Well, work LARGE, not just in a small size, and use one pixel brush, vary the opacity, and stuff, don't always use the same shade of red for example, but add in some blonde, brown and black. It doesn't come at first try, and everyone has their techniques they are trying to show others. Avoid the dodge/burn for highlights too.

This might be some help. Dunno if there are any for GIMP. :P

Anatomy, and perspective. Now. You're way off. Google and see if you can find some useful stuff on that.

Too saturated. You should lower the colours a bit. And try to blend the renders?
