Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
Very true - My mum is Catholic, my dad was atheist. They told me to believe in whatever makes me happy. I'm now happy smack bang in the middle of spirituality (non religious) and science. Through observations of the toll it's taken on my life, my dad has actually adopted many of the principles and found they worked for him too. Call me shallow but I don't actually care if it's true or not, I only care that it makes my life easier to live.

The stupidest thing you have done?
When I was younger I had a best friend called Renee. Her and I did everything together. One day she ran away from home and left her mum a note saying goodbye. We went camping and it wasn't until we reached our destination that I found out about her running away. I talked to her about her problems and convinced her to work through them rather than running away and she told me she would call her mother later that night and fix things. Things didn't get that far... Renee had bought a bag of marijuana with her, I had never tried it before or had any intentions to. I got doped up to my eyeballs for the very first time and had police sniffer dogs chasing us through the fields. We rang our friend and hid in bushland on the main highway, only to be found at their address later by her mother. Her mum burst through the door and hit me in the face with a torch telling me to stay the hell away from her daughter because I was a bad influence. I got home, told my dad I had been crying (to explain my glowing demon eyes :^o ) and told him about Renee running away. About 20 minutes later, Renee's mum called to let my dad know just how much of a horrible child I was. Naturally being daddy's little girl he believed every word I said (why would his straight A little girl be doing drugs and influencing friends to run away?). He told Renee's mum to get her facts straight and that he knew where his freaking kids were. Also, if she didn't apologize to my face that he would be pressing charges against her for assault. Renee and I weren't best friends anymore.. -- The other being telling a drunk Maori chick that her dad was hitting on me (which he was, frigging pedo tried to lure me to the shed). I ended up leaving with a black eye, concussion and fat lip.

I like your new post, it's a little less biased.

Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
No offense but that makes you sound like the bigotist idiot. While there are a few naive posts some of the more intelligent posts trying to disprove the theory actually support the theory lol

Medical Marijuana
How conservative of you lol Unfortunately for your situation laws are loosening and becoming more open minded. You can stay in your house, board it up and isolate from the real world if you like. Although we don't share the same views, I'll offer to do your grocery shopping ;)

Your Wierd Allergies?
I hear you dragon, I can eat roast pumpkin, carrot and potato only. Anything else makes me puke, even if I hold my nose to block the taste, it still comes back up.

Your Wierd Allergies?
Telling somebody your weaknesses is like preparing for battle in a suit of armor, telling your opponent "I only have 2 weaknesses here and here" :P I'm highly allergic to vodka but it's not like I'm going to meet any of you anyway :D

Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
Hang around the forums more often, you'll meet plenty of intelligent atheists and such with an open mind. People tend not to find things they're not looking for. Youtube "dancing bear" as a perfect example. Another example, it wasn't until I was pregnant I noticed an increase to my awareness towards baby adverts and mothers pushing strollers in the shopping mall. In fact there wasn't an increase, I was actually looking this time for something in specific. If you'd like sources I'll happily provide some for you or maybe you could just talk to your intelligent psychology graduate friend there, we probably did the same degree anyway. It's not that you don't know plenty of intelligent atheists, it's the fact that you choose not to look out for them more often than intelligent Christians. Hehehe... I couldn't help but quote it. -- An example of the problem with "IQ" Lack of a theoretical basis - As one psychologist (Tuddenham, 1962, p. 515) has concluded: "Social needs have seemed to lead, and theoretical developments to follow, the changes in mental tests over the last half century" Most IQ tests only partially address memory, reasoning, problem solving and decision making - the domains studied by cognitive scientists. IQ testing has drawn criticism and controversy for many years, largely for two reasons: the lack of a theoretical basis and the potential for cultural bias. As you can see by the year of my reference, this obviously isn't new news either. The controversy has been around for a while now.

Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
We're turning pretty post modernism if you look around you the world is mainly focussed on "who says what", "question what such a such said", "this person says this so it must be true" etc rather than in religious views. This is a pretty scientific world media/television/radio wise predominately. Especially looking generation wise, this generation was taught to question everything, to want cold, hard, facts and to provide evidence to support claims. Looking at things in this prospective, it's no wonder they've come to the conclusion that they have. However, as Zon pointed out IQ isn't a definite, it is quite multifaceted. Many of the greatest names in history rolled spirituality with science, so what are the correlations for this? ;)

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Technically gravity doesn't actually suck. Anyway, I think by saying that you're not really being yourselves. If you're so non-judgemental and not-jock-ish then you'd understand that not all girls are like that, and just as there are a few guys such yourselves who are comparatively mature against people of your own age, there are also girls who are comparatively mature compared to most of their counterparts. Just as much as you're sitting here saying, "All girls go for jock guys", they're sitting somewhere else thinking, "All guys go for cheerleaders". My babies father definitely isn't a jock :? so you have a good point. Never had a problem with getting attention from Jocks. I've previously dated the Northern Territory state rugby captain, a trainee for the Brisbane Lions AFL if you want to get technical but honestly, they're no good for marriage material. Not even close. There are plenty of women out there who like your type of personality, the problem is your maturity level for your age is higher than the girls you're looking at. I find people with your personality end up dating older women so perhaps you're looking in the wrong places. Try finding someone with a similar or higher IQ, you'll probably have better chances with your personality type.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I'm assuming you're stuck on a decision because rational thinking < feelings for her. If those feelings aren't being reciprocated by her, you'll end up being broken hearted and in the long run you don't have a good shot at staying friends. As Rick noted, not many guys will stick around. And when she finds the right guy and says "Bugger off", you won't be around any longer. If you're happy for a temporary shot, only to be shot down in the long run, go ahead and learn the lesson. Once bitten, you probably won't go back. I don't mind, they're your feelings not mine :D

Addictions
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you're trying to give up smoking in a house full of 3 smokers, chances are in favour of you not quitting. Those other people will either have to attempt to give up with you or remove yourself from them.

What are you doing?
Oooooh how much I want a kitty but can't until bubs is older  At the moment.. being rather mean but assertive. I'm teaching my brothers to clean up after themselves in the bathroom. I'm tired of picking up their clothes for them and reminding them. So now, if I find it on the floor, they simply go in the trash. Let's see how it works  I just can't see positive reinforcement working when they don't do the right action to begin with  First victims, 1 pair of boxer shorts and a pair of work socks.

Medical Marijuana
Thanks bear - I think your answers are mature and productive. I take them more seriously than anybody else's ideas for legalization on this thread so far (not that it's a competition...) but you've obviously put a lot more thought in to this and are prepared. If I was against legalization, I wouldn't have much room to move with your answers =D>

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Okay let's get some pro's and con's happening... I'll try for 5 each side so it's not completely biased. By the way don't dis big brother, it's quite fun predicting every word and move  Cons As a friend of many females who told me they lost their virginity at young ages not to people they loved... All regretted it. You say you've liked her for a long time. What if you had sex with her, that's all she wanted from you and you've now become emotionally attached? If she has herpes you can still catch it, with or without a condom. Is it worth it? You might suck at your first time and destroy your social reputation anyway. Everyone's doing it is a crap excuse. "Oh I'm too stupid to make a decision myself" Pros Maybe she might develop an emotional attachment to you through having sex. Whether this is shallow or not is your decision. What if you're really good at your first time and she brags about it to all her friends? You get a good social reputation.. For now. Maybe she's on the pill and has had a blood test to show no signs of nitty grittys. It might make your relationship stronger but not in a boyfriend/girlfriend way - Will it last though? You might have the time of your life and not care what happens anyway. -- I agree with your current thoughts. Knock it back and ask her out as your girlfriend, once the two of you can happily say you love each other and have been with each other for a reasonable amount of time, be safe and enjoy it. If she says no, pft was it really any loss? If she takes anything out of context and tries to say how scared you were or anything, just let everybody know how stupid she really is. HEY LETS DO HEROIN! jk Seriously.. How many decent men out there would date a chick who screwed around with anything on two legs at her age because it was the "in thing to do"?

Medical Marijuana
Harm reduction - "...A social policy which prioritizes the aim of decreasing the negative effects of drug use..." (Newcombe 1992, p. 1) So basically it refers to strategies, interventions, or policies by which the principles of harm minimization are implemented. An example... When you said the age should be 21+. I should get more up to date books :(

Medical Marijuana
Bear - I've found that myself too although not quite in the same experience as you. Being the oldest child in my family I got drilled in to me "No, no, no, no" and so I just did the opposite because my dad was very strict. However, going through my own drug experiences and learning from them I was able to educate my two brothers who decided on their own behalf to be drug free. What are some of the harm reduction methods you'd recommend?
