  1. Okay let's get some pro's and con's happening... I'll try for 5 each side so it's not completely biased. By the way don't dis big brother, it's quite fun predicting every word and move  Cons As a friend of many females who told me they lost their virginity at young ages not to people they loved... All regretted it. You say you've liked her for a long time. What if you had sex with her, that's all she wanted from you and you've now become emotionally attached? If she has herpes you can still catch it, with or without a condom. Is it worth it? You might suck at your first time and destroy your social reputation anyway. Everyone's doing it is a crap excuse. "Oh I'm too stupid to make a decision myself" Pros Maybe she might develop an emotional attachment to you through having sex. Whether this is shallow or not is your decision. What if you're really good at your first time and she brags about it to all her friends? You get a good social reputation.. For now. Maybe she's on the pill and has had a blood test to show no signs of nitty grittys. It might make your relationship stronger but not in a boyfriend/girlfriend way - Will it last though? You might have the time of your life and not care what happens anyway. -- I agree with your current thoughts. Knock it back and ask her out as your girlfriend, once the two of you can happily say you love each other and have been with each other for a reasonable amount of time, be safe and enjoy it. If she says no, pft was it really any loss? If she takes anything out of context and tries to say how scared you were or anything, just let everybody know how stupid she really is. HEY LETS DO HEROIN! jk Seriously.. How many decent men out there would date a chick who screwed around with anything on two legs at her age because it was the "in thing to do"?
  2. Harm reduction - "...A social policy which prioritizes the aim of decreasing the negative effects of drug use..." (Newcombe 1992, p. 1) So basically it refers to strategies, interventions, or policies by which the principles of harm minimization are implemented. An example... When you said the age should be 21+. I should get more up to date books :(
  3. Bear - I've found that myself too although not quite in the same experience as you. Being the oldest child in my family I got drilled in to me "No, no, no, no" and so I just did the opposite because my dad was very strict. However, going through my own drug experiences and learning from them I was able to educate my two brothers who decided on their own behalf to be drug free. What are some of the harm reduction methods you'd recommend?
  4. Bear - Just to play devils advocate Say it's legalized 21+. It's a well known fact that kids learn behaviour and model behaviour as they grow older - some of it learnt by yours (the parent). An example.. cigarette smoking: Children whose parents smoked are twice as likely to begin smoking between 13 and 21 http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/31304.php What would be some of your boundaries? If a child/teenager under the age of 21 is in the constant environment of a house hold/community that smokes pot all the time..
  5. That's what I was saying Zierro, so we're agreeing on this point.
  6. Yes you can lol... Since we're comparing sports to smoking marijuana it would only be fair to say that you would be participating in physical activity while smoking.
  7. Is there a source that states that sports can bring out preexisting mental illnesses? Anything can be compared to anything when looking at which side you want to lean towards. I can influence someone to buy horse manure in the right sales pitch and body language.
  8. I said I wasn't going to say anything but seriously dizziness as a number 1 concern is getting unreal I had to say something. Try longterm cognitive impairment (ashton 2002) (studies have been all over the place lately, especially in Australia), respiratory side effects (hall 1998), 10 per cent of regular cannabis users develop cannabis dependence syndrome in young adulthood (Coffey et al. 2001) and also exacerbates preexisting psychosis such as schizophrenia that may not have otherwise ever occurred in someones life (Hall & Degenhardt 2000). I couldn't give 2 craps what people do with their lives (speaking as an ex pot smoker) but at least educate people of more serious concerns. While I do support medical use of marijuana, I like to question things... While yes it is their choice to have it medically, are they educated of all the dangers before making their decision? I would sue a doctor for telling me it may cause my sick mother dizziness, red eyes and give her the munchies. The very last thing any of you would wish upon your mother...narrowly escaping an unbearable condition with help from cannabis as a temporary pain relief only to come home with schizophrenia. (as evidence suggesting cannabis can cause psychosis when the drug is stopped is not strong enough - Hall et al. 1994). Percentages aren't real high but I think most of us here have experienced an "I never thought that would happen to me". My brother as an example, 2nd youngest person in Australia to develop relapsing polychondritis and nearly died to it. A pot smoker, high at the time (he thought it would be hilarious) made the irrational decision to give him a smiley. My example, a doctor prescribed me medication without asking me if I smoked pot. The two exacerbated short term psychosis and I went misdiagnosed for 5 years of my life that I'll never get back.
  9. Blow them all up with my death stare.... I'm immortal duhhh ;) :P I'll let brent know about this topic I have a funny feeling he'll sign back up to the forums (3 month roll back deletion) just to share it with you
  10. My favourite thing back then was the old sega master system ('86) Alex the kid in high tech world, wander boy etc  I also remember when I got my first computer the old dos crap.. black and white everything. Stick man jumping, lame black and white patterns in paint that kept me entertained for hours.
  11. :| You told me once you wanted to hit me in the head but if you want to talk that's fine lol
  12. I'm not going to get involved in the whole make it legal for everyone debate but I really don't care about medical marijuana, they make it legal for a reason. I try to focus more on "what is" rather than "what isn't". If it becomes legal then I'll come back to discuss it. I just don't see the point in ranting on about something if it's not going to change the outcome, I'd rather put my energy in to something else.
  13. Bopping to "white wedding", "ra ra rasputin" and other groovy oldies (drowning out Brent's snoring after night shift) and slaughtering some iron dragons.... arrghh take a hike sandwhich lady. \ \ \ =D> =D> =D> \ \ \
  14. Being thankful isn't about kissing other people's [wagon]. It's about doing something selfless to remind people that they're doing a good job and we're appreciative of them. If you don't want to be thankful, put a plug in it... hell you're on my ignore list for a reason.
  15. Ginger Warrior - Yeah yeah he's not on the offtopic list but he's my favourite of them all and probably my best friend, forum related. Edit - See how important he is? I didn't realise he was the only person I gave capital letters for a name ;) meol - Have a soft spot for meol he's a very curious guy and I like to talk to him. snipersas - seems very professional in his moderating position. pryo - Haven't seen much but plan to look out for posts in the future. assassin_696 - Liberal, empathic guy who I can relate a lot to, I really enjoy reading most of his posts. abelmisi - Have never seen him around. bluelancer - Very professional in his position and very intelligent lionheart_0 - Another soft spot of mine, he's a cheeky, funny, positive guy who never has anything bad to say about anyone. ragen, - Haven't seen much of his posts. rainy_day - Haven't seen much of your posts either but plan to look out for them. THANKS GUYS!!
  16. Oooooooooh I lied! I forgot about pregnancy cravings/addictions. This boy will not let me go one day without having something made of chocolate. I hardly ever eat chocolate and now I can't get enough of it. Chocolate icecream, chocolate milk, chocolate pudding, chocolate frogs, chocolate mouse. Will have be to very careful with weight gain  Already gained approx 10 kilos. Rational decision < what baby wants. Never fight pregnancy cravings, things get ugly.
  17. Registering car insurance/ changing antenatal appointment times - They cross wire with my GGT test :wall: The original time was booked for 8:30... So I would go for my first blood test then go for my second blood test then rush over to the mid wife. They now sent me a letter for 9:15 which will be in the middle of my third blood test :wall: So getting something figured out... So not looking forward to the 3 blood tests lol (searching for diabetes in pregnancy) After ringing - They now want me to go for my first blood test at 7:30, my second blood test at 8:30, rush over to the doctor at 9:15 (he's determining whether I'm having a C section because babies head is way too low) and needing a 30 week scan. Tell him that I need to be out within 15 mins to go for my 3rd blood test. Then at 9:30 go for my 3rd blood test. Messed up if you ask me - Why can't they just change my appointment time to 9:45am it would make more bloody sense and the doctor could take his time in assessing something very important :x I'm just going to turn up to the doctor and take as much time as needed - If I'm late for my 3rd blood test they can blame themselves for crap organization.
  18. Well if it's already been done and since this is the offtopic forum maybe we could do something a little special for the mods who run the offtopic section. We could write a little something nice about each of them and why we like them etc
  19. No more addictions anymore 100% clean and straight edge - Over a year now Was addicted to gambling, alcohol, cigarettes, cleaning and weed. I don't gamble, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I clean when I get around to it and I don't do drugs.
  20. Chasing lost superannuation - Always like to catch up on things ;)
  21. There's no reason to be shy. Imagine if she asked you why you chose her to dance (if the situation had been the other way around). You probably wouldn't think too much in to it, it could be a perfectly, harmless question to cure curiosity. What's the worst that could happen? She might ask you why you want to know, to which you would reply... "just curious".
  22. The tc has come here for genuine results if you're not going to help someone with a serious project don't bother posting.
  23. Sorry to hear about your struggles but there are more appropriate places and times to discuss them. What are your thoughts about Australia now holding the title? Do you think many Australians would be upset? Personally as a fellow Aussie it doesn't upset me. I know we have an aging population which is where our main concern lies at the moment. With the baby bonus in focus and education of better eating/exercise we can overcome the problem. If someone were to call us fatass's I wouldn't take offense to it because I represent the healthier, younger generation of Australia. Even if I were fat, I would know I have options and can do something about it. I understand how this can make American's upset but lashing out and being angry about it isn't going to fix the problem. In fact it will only create negativity that doesn't work in your favour (eating because of problems, a perfect example). The title has been passed over so rather than coming here to vent frustrations, let's focus on the present situation and not the past.
  24. Ask her what she thought of the dance and why she chose you. If it feels good, take it from there. She could surprise you and give you obvious hints that she likes you more than a friend. Don't get your hopes up though, expectations that aren't met only disappoint you :
  25. 1. Who inspires You People who have been through struggles in life who come to over power them. People who teach others a more positive outlook than the one they're currently viewing. People who bring peace to a once disturbed heart/soul/mind. People who live in the now, not the past nor the future. 2 Do u have a role model and if so who? My dad, Deepak Chopra, Wayne dyer, Ekhart Tolle, Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phillip McGraw and a whole heap of others who fit the aforementioned description. -- A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. ~Henry Adams And by teacher, this could be anybody who influences somebody so much that they feel the need to show others.
