1. Read the posts in Duke Freedom's thread, and you'll see that jagex is going great lengths in order to fix prices and ensure that there is enough supply...
2. From what I read around the forum and knowing Jagex for 5 years now, I wouldn't be surprised if Jagex actually ends up creating liquidity on the Grand Exchange by buying and selling items themselves, hence also creating price stability by doing so. Of course, it would be a huge loss for the game if they are going to do so though. Like you mentioned in your thread as well, they are taking out the M of Multiplayer in their Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). Jagex once again underestimates the importance of a dynamic game environment, as they always have. I already pointed out that they ARE creating this liquidity... The ammount of items and the interval between getting batches of those items, as well as the very coincidental ratio of alch value:market value is suspiciously coincidental at best, but if something like this manipulation were to happen in the real world, they'd be jailed for 15 years for fraud...
3. They arent forcing me to play runescape no, and yes I CHOOSE to pay for it... However, I purchased a years worth of membership, with a guarantee that the quality of the game would remain constant... It obviously hasnt (and about a few million people agree with me)... Nothing did I state about Jagex being communist... I stated that they made trading in runescape communist... So thats already 2 mistakes you made... You then proceed to call me an idiot, just for having a different opinion then you? Go play neopets or something... You mean nothing to me and your words mean nothing to anyone...
4. Thank you, but it is true... Although communism works in theory, it does not work in a gameworld full of greedy little over-achievers... people want things and they want a lot of it, and they want it as cheap and easy as possible... Ssetting or even LOCKING prices in place as what is happening now completely destroys free trade... Lately, PK-ing died, Trading died, Merchanting died...
5. Duke Freedom, as always your threads are very much interesting... I do wish to have a word with you sometime soon, do you still have my MSN? As for your thread, you seem to miss one thing... You're asuming the prices actually get adapted to what players trade... Try buying a resource which isnt all that popular, like Olive Oil (4) potions... I did that, and I only got 100 at a time, and although I was not on at all times, I could tell that I got those 100 at a time at regular intervals... Another thing is the price in relation to their alch value... You'll notice it by reading this thread. I said it before, and I will say it again: Jagex is controlling the market of a game that does not want to be controlled... You can expect a riot and probably a maximum age for this game of 7, because anyone capable of making a decision for themselves will stop paying for such a limiting game...
6. The extrapolation is a joke IMO. It's not like their player base will continue to grow this exponentially, and the amount of RWT is obviously linked to the player population somehow. I know it is... If anything, this update will cause their playerbase to plummet like a rock... The only reason they can possibly have such growth in the ammount of GP they ban, is more and more bots being used.., because they're getting banned and the gp not sold in time... Actually, I don't think they took the "easy rout out", considering the massive effort and time that went into the updates that were all required to obtain the end result they want so desperately (= no RWT). They would have been much easier off "legalizing" RWT somehow. Actually, if they "legalised" it (which is only possible if Jagex sold the geepee themselves) they'd have the put in man hours after it... Right now they're done... Its implementing the trade rule, and voila... RWT gone, players gone, game gone...
7. They made pk-ing impossible to survive as single player... They will make it impossible to lend out items... They will make it impossible to give gifts to old time friends... They will force you to trade at a price controlled institute... They will made it impossible to share drops evenly now... Well, you know very well what they destroyed, and I'm sure that there's atleast one thing that you liked most about this game... And for what..? To stop real world traders? They'll just make a horde of bots flood the server, make 3k by doing whatever, and drop trade it to the buyer of geepee... Now I know why you made more worlds, Jagex, not for the immense ammount of people that will still be playing, but to accomodate the droptrading bots...
8. I think this was epxected... After this we'll see bots droptrade 3k at a time, and what jagex does then is to limit the server capacity to 20 people....
9. If I have to choose between a few braggers I can completely ignore, and these junk updates.... Well lets just say Jagex selling their own geepee is a lesser of 2 evils...
10. Trading between a friend can now only be done if your offer and his offer only vary up to 3k... Trading on the GE however, means that for the same item (market price), you can be 5% over or under that... Suppose you're trading a bunch of stuff and you're looking to buy it cheaply... From a friend you could get a whole of 3k discount, even if it was something like a bandos hilt, or a dfs... from the GE you could theoretically get it 5% cheaper then market price... This means any item over 60.000 gp in value on the market, you're better off buying it form the GE... On P2P any interesting item to get with a bit of discount are either a lot of resources for a higher level, or items worth over 1m a piece... Either way, you're well beyond that 60k... Take a whip, currently priced at 1,238,324 gp at the GE... removing 5% form that, you're at 1,176,407 gp that you can buy a whip for at MINIMUM gp... Thats a discount of 61,917 gp that you can now get on a whip... Trade it to a friend instead of via the GE and you can only give or recieve 3k discount, based on that 1,238,324 gp... On top of that, you can trade as many of these items as you like, with a 62k discount as often and as many as possible, while oyu gotta wait 15 minutes if you traded your 3k already, and want to trade some more... This is ofcourse completely unfair, it forces you basicly to use the Grand Exchange for nearly everything, and it has destroyed one aspect of what an MMORPG should be... A Massive MULTI-PLAYER Online Role Playing Game... Multiplayer jagex, meaning multiple people play it with eachother... You destroyed one of the largest aspects of social interaction in your game... Add to all this data, the facts that were found by the guys in this thread here, and you can only draw one conclusion: =============================================== Another piece of math I'd looked at was the calculations made of how much money was involved in real world trading... Jagex stated that in 2006 they banned 200 Billion gp, and so far in 11 months in 2007 already 525 billion gp, and if continuing like this, it'd ammount to 8,000 billion gp in 2010... Maybe this has something to do with the ease with which money can be made... Or maybe because jagex banned so much gp, and the goldfarmers still had to fill out a customers order, that they literally flooded the game with bots... I would like to see someone make an educated guess if jagex just let this thing run free, and carried on with dealing with RWT and their bots the way they have always done... I could very well do without 4 updates a month... Two a month is good enough for $5, and with the current rates, I wouldnt be suprised if you upped it to $6 or even $7 a month, its all FAR MORE acceptable then these updates... Jagex claims it costs them money, but how about killing the RWT's business by simply taking part in it? If anything, Jagex can offer more competitive prices for their gp BY FAR, simply because they can create it out of thin air, and dont have to chop their own yews to sell all day... This certainly kills RWT's business, provides those who want to buy their account to the top even cheaper gp (form Jagex's numbers, $10 gets you 2m atm), and provides an additional source of income for Jagex, one that they can control too... And what is their arguement? I agree to the extend that buying gold makes the game easier, but certainly ingame updates, such as a quest required to level your skill to a higher level is a solution? One could state that you need a quest to be able to smith Rune items, and the quest requirement for that on 1 part is 85 mining... Mining is an unbuyable skill, and hence you MUST play the game in order to get ahead... But do you really think that if a player wants to buy all their buyable skills, finds out he cant, then decides "oh, I'll just play normally then"? No way, he'll just move to anothe rgame, so 'losing those players' is not a valid argument... Nor is it saying it will cheapen the game... Just as PK-ers look down on Skillers and vice versa, No Honor vs Honor, even p2p vs f2p... People will look down on those who wish to buy gp with real money, and those that want to spend their euro's will say that its their right to do so... Let this controversy exist, its always a good source of debate... So here comes the math part... Suppose that jagex starts selling geepee for $$$... I estimate that Jagex would first make inflation happen again, so items and skills will cost a lot, and hence will cost more $$$... A rate of about $3 per 1m geepee is still only 60% of what RWT's offer you (again, this is according to Jagex's own numbers), and at no risk of not getting it at all, or other twists and turns... When you buy from Jagex, you know its safe... If they would be able to sell (according to their own numbers) 1300 billion gp in 2008, this would generate 4 million over the year, instead of cost you money... Jagex could do a lot in order to make one feel proud of an achievement, knowing that one worked hard for it... Infact you've already started with the reward for Clan Wars... But you forgot one major force in this game... The players... Ask us to sign a petition to send to the UN, and make a crime like this recognized by The Hague's International Court of Law... Surely millions of autographs from many different people on many different games will change government policy... It has done so in the past, it can do it again... Personally I think Jagex made this decision with a calculator, and took the easy route for them out... I do not think they anticipated the ammount of people that will give up their memberships over this, nor the power of word of mouth for people who discourage the game to others, nor any of the other games that will jump into this gaping hole... I found some pictures saying they'll change this, and I truly hope they do... Because if I list what this game just made impossible for me and my clan to function properly in our unique way, it might just be too much...
11. There wont be a new MSSW if these updates arent changed... The only possible place to have this, is in the fightpits on p2p, because that is the only place left where low levels can attack high levels, and where there is no number cap on who enters... The tournament style was nocely thought out, but tipit would need to be sorted in 7 or 8 clans cuz theres a 100-people cap, so its completely impractical to do, and impossible to check for cheating...
12. One last ride to victory before the world itself was brought to its knees... And the victors ascended where those that lay hewn and gutted shall wander eternally aimless... [/drama] Yeah good timing, think jagex knew?
13. and yet you just wrote it down :)
14. It was an awesomenight... Unfortunately with these updates, Its become hard to organise a decent war, especially if you have 1 person storing all war gear for everyone... I'm hoping an update comes where you can have clan storage (perhaps with the construction skill for clan halls?), and hand out standard sets for people...
15. I heard that they were overconfident, that the clans would wipe everyone out "just as usual"... Big mistake not to let any of the clans know that there actually IS a war... I knew most of Tipit forum readers only read General Discussions, so I posted something there... TWICE... Misplacedme knew that with such a great response on the threads, it couldnt be ignored by the staff either, and posted it on the front page... Thread activity increased 10-fold... If 85% of RSC only reads Clan Discussions, I'd post it there... I doubt it, RV didn't really show any interest in this at all. We all joined in on a different team. Heck I owned over 30 tip.it....And then I switched to my new to try it out. Heck I got 16 of you. With the steel helms and scimmys to prove it. A lvl 54 pure killed 16 people? Bud thats what I call bad.... Also, I doubt you'd ever stand a chance against the WW4 fight they had. It had a bigger turnout than this and it was chaotic. You guys had Zero organization what so ever and you all split up thus leading to killing eachother. If you'd use the piling then you wouldn't have Bsing and what not. In my opinion if this was a contest for who would have won a war if all rules and guidelines to a war were followed. I bet RV would have won. Unlike Tip.it RV had piles going around. (Leader)(DD of people following) RV did: Spammed a name til he was KO'ed. No one broke off. All players followed the leader of there pile. They worked together and tanked well. They used there obsticles to hook the players following and RV would KO them. Tip.it did: Spammed names until a group got them. Broke off and went wild. Bs'ed there own team. Accused others of Cape switching..... Ran wild. Did not tank/do anything well.. In conclusion, Your practice mustn't have taught people to pk. It must have been organized by someone that doesn't know how to led a war.... Anyway, Just my little tid-bit. Also, Dark_Blade75 aren't you an ex-Rver? and RVA'er? If you'd like to know when the next is drop me a PM on RV or talk to Dustin from RV. RVN: `Tyler You owned singlehandedly 46 tipiters? Whats the smell like up there? The only way you couldve survived to kill 46 people is if you donned a green cape. So if you killed 46 tipiters, you have been a capeswitching backstabber... As for our organisation; If you think its possible to get 700 people who have never been out with a clan before, in line, guess again... Yes we spammed names, I knew very well that the few people who know how to lead in a war would just grab a bunch of people and go kill someone, thats the only way this couldve played out for us... As for killing our own team, in my aftermath post I already mnetioned the fact that there were several RSC people in a green cape trying to have tipit gang up on eachother... Only here did our inexperience shown on through... We won, we might not have been the most efficient killers, but we made up for that by 3 weeks of hard work in making sure there were enough supplies for the huge ammount of people we'd conscript into this... Preparation is everything in these things, especially with a turn-out that large... It's the only thing that tipped the balance into our favor...
16. The next war is in roughly 6 to 7 months
17. Some BS-ers were bound to be in there, and naturally some casualties came from this, but those that died shouldnt be less happy... EVEN if RSC showed up in full, we'd have died anyways... All RSC did now was shame themselves and further widening the gap between us and them... Some of them are comnig over though, albeit only a small handful...
18. The victory is even sweeter then people imagine... Judging in the ammount of people there, there was enough steel to forge a fricken aircraft carrier... Not only did we crush the opposition without breaking so much as a sweat, Not only did several people from named site find it impossible to win, so they went all cloak and dagger-y trying to even the odds, and failing at that, Not only did that same site asume they'd win anyways, Not only did that asumtion lead them to believe that everything was taken care of, which it ofcourse was not (none of the big clans were aware of this happening), But above all, it proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that as long as Tipit's people are aware of whats going on (aka this war), they will be there, and do whatever is needed... This only emhpasises even more that this is the most non-noob site out there, and I'm glad to be a part of this... WITH my clan... PS: Ty, Killerred005, we indeed had several of us just round up a few Tipiters, and go hunting some non-green...
19. So what if they are cape switchers... In my opinion, if you must wear a green cape to survive, then you havent won the event as a tipiter... Thats just harassing people for the fun of harassing, but it serves no purpose...
20. Because if we had won, they'd claim it was because of the treaty. And if we had lost with it, we'll get a big fat LEWSAH tag stapled to our foreheads... I wouldn't be worried. If I'm not mistaken, Zybez won this event the previous three times. I'm not saying it's a fluke, but we should probably validate our win by winning again before we start worrying about an anti Tip.it treaty... The win this time was indeed a fluke... Zybez (RSC) did not inform the greater clans about it (it was only 1 day before the war that it was on their Clan Discussions, which is the only active part on their forum)... Suffice to say, the only source of real strength (their clans) did not partake in this war... If it had, the result wouldve been the same, but only barely...
21. Man, zybez peeps are like: Huh, there was a war? They thought tipit was dead, and that they'd win no matter what... Obviously that was a huge underestimation :P
22. Too many tipiters... I agree... Usually in a war this is called overkill, but a few dozen green capes were actually RSC... Still, having a quarter of the server's capacity in people... Can you spell anti Tipit alliance next year?
23. All read what I've posted on the first post... I edited it, and it should accurately tell what happened int he war...
24. Post here your thoughts on the upcoming war. Remember that no matter if we lost or won, I can already see the commitment everyone has for this site is far greater then any of the other fansites can ever muster up... For that you can congratulate yourself already... More to be posted ofc, so dont forget to check back here after the Lumbridge Revival party after the War... ==================READ=FROM=HERE=DOWN================ OK, that was fun... Now comes the part I edited in which I needed to make sure everyone read... When I logged into world 61, I was amazed, I had never expected THIS many people. Even when we set out to be at the ancient castle, whichever way you'd run, I think there was a massive river of white and green dots straight from Edgeville to the Ancient castle. Apparently the several threads I risked posting on here helped a bit. I knew it was against the rules, but I posted em on the General Boards anyways. Afterall, we're defending the honor of our fansite arent we? In that I stated that it was wise to be atleast an hour early, so you'd be able to get a front row seat at the battle... I think that worked... A rough estimate puts it at 600 green capes... KUDOS to everyone who made this possible... Now, as with all winners, especially this massive, there will be people who call Tipiters cheaters... The true story is that a large group of tipiters dedicated themselves to kill anyone who was maging or ranging... Also a lot of peope who's names I hear more often reffered as a Zybez person (RSC - red cape) wore green capes... This is not bad, you're welcome to join us, but when said people switch to using mage, and then claim Tipit used mages, thats just what I'd expect of some clans... The fact that you killed a good few of us makes it all the worse that you didnt even win... RSC, you've been behaving bad this round: - Backstabbing - Maging - Not being on time, and blaming that we were too early. You too couldve logged in an hour early... But even if we put everyone who participated in this war in the right cape colors, and played everything by the book, Tipit's sheer numbers simply did it... Tipit didnt need to cheat, so why would we? That was why I felt we didnt need to be part of any anti-rsc alliance, and got us unsigned... If advertised properly enough, Tipit has just as many people to rely on as RSC has... The only thing we lack is organisation and contacting everyone at once, and having clanleaders to organise entire clans at once adds some scructure... Misplacedme's little thing on the frontpage did a lot for us, thanks a lot! It got us a load of responses, many first timers on these forums as well, and even a couple of ole timers... Welcome and welcome back! Everyone who knew how to pk a little by calling out names was sure to drag atleast a person who didnt know with them, so in the end, all peope needed was a bit of a guide on what to do... This thing I also dared posting on the General Discussions, and it has worked out too (I see many screenshots with my set-up)... In the end, I think it comes down to every tipiter who felt it needed to fight for their site, but especially to a handfull of people who took matters into their own hands and organised almost as a clan what to do, where to be, who to kill, and how to do it... Those few special people know who they are, and my heart goes out to you... If you wish to come chat about this, feel free to click the picture in my signature. It'll take you to my clansite, I'll be in the Chatroom (see the menubar)... Sincerely yours: TS Stormrage Leader of the Tal Shiar Alliance Founder of The Conclave - a home for tipit's clans Loyal Tipiter PS, I found a pic that kind of says it all: Enjoy :)
25. Go to the instructions topic i posted at the top of this page... In it you'll find me wielding a rune scimi
