RS2 is too big. I haven't played for a long while now, but even before I stopped playing the area was too big. It seems like they're added on just to say they have updates, and not for any real purpose. RSC was a far superior game, and introducing RS2 drove out a lot of the old players. I don't recognise anybody on this board anymore, apart from a select few. I doubt many people would know me either. I guess that's just the growth of the community, which is also another problem with RS2.

Lombardo sucks, if you're referring to the drumming he's done with Slayer, Paul Bostaph is FAR superior. I actually can't believe I missed him off my list.

I don't know all their names but: Gene Hoglan The drummer from The Red Chord The drummer from Hella The drummer from The Mars Volta. Wow, I know less than I thought. These aren't necessarily the best in the world, they're just my favourites. And before anyone else tries: Travis Barker and Joey Jordison don't even come close.

Green Day = sellouts, and they weren't good before they old out anyway. U2 = pop music, and automatically bad.

Mudvayne's bassist is pretty good, sounds a lot different to most other bassists who tend to just follow the guitar.

They're totally different to any other band out right now. Alien was the album of the year in my opinion. You've just gotta listen with an open mind, if you like heavy music, you should love SYL.

They're terrible. The vocals are ridiculous, and that singing makes them only just above emo. They've just appeared on the scene and out of luck, mostly from Download, got a load of media attention. It's gone straight to their heads and they think they're the best band on the planet. They're not. And I really don't understand how you could prefer Trivium over Strapping Young Lad. They are superior in every possible way. Especially Gene Hogland, he is one of the best drummers I have ever heard. I got nothing out of it, it just sounded like overdistorted metal. I guess they could come across as a bit too much. Maybe if you tried some slower songs like Love? Or Landscape off Alien.

Well, i have to admit, i've seen some better drummers out there, lots of their live concerts he's been off beat and such, but i've also seen much worse. About them going commercial though, you need to remember one thing... What is the reason 99.9% of all bands play? To make money :P I'd hardly say 99.9%, not the bands I listen to anyway. Some bands like Zyklon. They know they're only appealing to a certain audience, a very small minority of people, yet they play on. And the fact that there are worse drummers than Lars doesn't mean he is great :wink: He's not an especially bad drummer, it's just that he is too inconsistent. What he's recorded never sounds anything like what he plays like, and he has done a lot of 'fake' drumming. For example, on Dyers Eve, he couldn't play the double bass tracks, so he played a very small section of it, and looped it. Also on Dyer's Eve, he was too slow to do some rolls and then choke his cymbals, so he had his drum tech stand there while he played them and choke the cymbals for him. Disgraceful really, haha

I don't know how you can try and compare a hand held gaming console/all in one device to an mp3/mp4 player. They are completely unrelated.

Metallica have sucked since the black album. I don't even listen to old Metallica anymore, it's nothing I can't get elsewhere. And Lars is a terrible drummer.

Haha, I've only read a few pages of this thread, but there were only 2 or 3 people who actually mentioned underground bands. C'mon, bands like Lamb of God, In Flames, Shadows Fall, and the Artic Monkeys haha, are FAR from underground. Underground bands I listen to are Zyklon, Wormed, Deadwater Drowning, Strapping Young Lad, although they're not as much these days, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Darkthrone and Visceral Bleeding. All awesome bands.

Pantera, Mastodon, Strapping Young Lad, Exhorder. If you want more extreme stuff: Deadwater Drowning, Zyklon and The Red Chord are all awesome bands. If you want real metal, and not the trash mainstream stuff I've seen recommended a lot in this thread, steer way clear of bands like Trivium, Bullet for My Valentine, etc, etc.
