Who are you trying to kid? I study 5-8 hours a day 6 days a week. Back to uni in 4 days :ohnoes: I'm not that smart but I am determined as hell, it's the one thing that pulls me through every time. Really good advice and don't over analyse things, see it for what it is or for exactly what it says. You're crazy! Are you studying an undergraduate or a postgraduate course? Damn, reading yours and trapicals posts makes me feel lazy. I hardly study at all. :( Uni just isn't a very motivating environment for me. I was more motivated at school for gods sake. Maybe the semester coming up will spark some motivation into me. Biochemistry FTW.

Every that is explained about the dinosaurs is pure theory. Yes theya re alive, but carbon dating is pure speculation. Second, there isn't any way to know the distance of the stars. We would have to make a timer on how long it would take for a newborn star's light to reach earth, then plug in the formula. If the closest star (guessing) is around 54 light years, then a 54 year record should be instituted, but this whole speculation on carbon dating is just bogus (there ARE outside forces that act upon the elements, the Earth is not a controlled experiement). (1) Theories aren't guesses, they are explanations based on fact, observations and tests. (2) Based on the inaccuracy of the method over something like 60,000 years, carbon dating is not used to date dinosaur fossils. (3) Carbon dating is not pure speculation. It's based on a mathematical equation, as are all radiometric dating methods. Carbon dating isn't the only one; from memory there are something like 40 or more other isotope decay paths used to date rock. Each give a corroborated view at how old a rock sample is. For your interest, the oldest dated mineral on planet earth is zircon from my country of Australia, (specifically Jack Hills, Western Australia) dated at around 4.4 billion years old.
  3. Rugby League and Cricket. Both spectating. Rugby League because It's huge in my state (we just won this years state of origin) And Cricket because it makes wasting 5 days of your life doing absolutely nothing a fun and memorable experience. Some people would consider this boring. There's just something about a good test match that I love. One dayers are great too, of course.
  4. Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem. Great song. My Plague would have to be one of my favourites too.
  5. Alex, I've heard some BOC on youtube and other places and am contemplating buying an album. Which would you consider thier absolute best, thier magnum opus, if you will? I love songs like godzilla, don't fear the reaper and astronomy.
  6. I'll have to pick that up. Can you reccomend any artists similar to Ion Dissonance that I should look up? Despised Icon, Into the Moat, On Broken Wings, a Life Once Lost, Symphony in Peril, and they're instrumental, but you could also try Behold... the Arctopus. Sorry I can't give you any more. Last.fm might have some better suggestions though? EDIT: Another band that just came to me, Glass Casket. They're like Between the Buried and Me without the singing and jazz interludes (mostly because two of their members are in BTBAM). Dude! I'm loving 'A Life Once Lost.' Thanks for the tip. The Hunter CD is on my list now for sure. :P
  7. I'll have to pick that up. Can you reccomend any artists similar to Ion Dissonance that I should look up?
  8. Get a program called 'guitar pro 4' (you can download it from a download program) Even if you're not too astute on music theory, you can hum the tune and pluck the string on the guitar that sounds the same and write the tune down in guitar pro (assuming you have a guitar). At the end of the day, having a general knowlege of music theory is reccomended (again, I'm assuming here). Good luck with your music.
  9. So Real - Jeff Buckley.
  10. Ion Dissonance - Minus The Herd. Mainly because I bought it the other day but in terms of metal, it's so my style. I love it. It's a catharsis of sound even though it's structure is odd and the chords are dissonant. Some of the breakdowns and riffs are the best I have ever heard. Tool - Lateralus. I'll add this one at the moment just for good measure. Great album with some of my absolute favourite songs to play on guitar ("The Patient" is a definate favourite. Even though it's in 5/4 and oddly structured, it's just got this incredible flow to it). This music, as with much tool music, is unconvensional and worth the risk because it's obviously payed of for them with critical acclaim. A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms (French for Sea of Names) Ok, ok, couldn't help myself. I adore this album. It's always been a favourite ever since I heard it years ago. Billy Howerdel can write a mean song. Opeth - Blackwater Park. Might as well keep going. :P I love this album. The songs are all great quality, well written and finishing off with a gem like the song Blackwater Park makes this album a great experience. The lyric in the song Blackwater Park of "Sick liaisons raised this monumental mark, The sun sets forever over Blackwater Park" always gives me shivers. Jeff Buckley - Grace. This album is adorable. He was an incredible songwriter and had an incredible voice. In my opinion the Grace album diserves every bit of critical acclaim it's got. Rage Against The Machine - Self-Titled I've loved this one for years too. The funky, crunchy and memorable licks, riffs and solos of Tom Morello covered with the deeper-than-just-about-any-other hip-hop lyrics by Zack De la Rocha make rage a favourite band of mine. Even though it's all about politics with no relevance to me, the Lyrics demand you be moved by issues of capitalism, oppression and corruption among a swag of others. John Butler Trio - Sunrise Over Sea Superbly crafted songs by John Butler. His prowess on 11, 12 and 6 string guitars along with his banjo and slide guitars due to years of busking make his work quality to the core. This would be my favourite of all of his albums to date due to the great songs and the mood they portray. I remember seeing him live supporting this release. He's as good live as he is in any recording. Slipknot - Self-Titled. Been listening to this one for as long as I can remember too. This, along with "Iowa" stand out above most other of Slipknot's work for me. Brutal and unforgiving to the core. Some people say they lack talent but for me, listening to slipknot is more about catharsis than anything. It's dark, dissolusioned and full of smashing drums, crunching low tuned guitars and anger. Tool - Aenema. Love this one too. Great songs with themes ranging from addiction to Los Angeles breaking off of the U.S. mainland and getting "flushed away" to reveal beautiful, scenic, Arizona Bay. Great musical adaptation of a Bill Hicks comedy piece. Third Eye is another reference to Hicks comedy and an epic piece about reawakening to round off this masterpiece. Tool - Undertow. Ok, you can probably guess I'm a huge Tool fan by now. :P This will be the last for now. Here you have rough, rocky and unforgiving old-school Tool. Film clips for the songs "Sober" and "Prison Sex" are some of the best I've seen. Great songs and great fun to play. :P

If I could just butt in with a bit of biology, that would likely be a waste of money. Same genes equals same ability at either fighting disease or getting wiped out by it. Even if you can get an endangered animal that is determined to be fit, healthy and with a good immune system, pathogens would likely evolve and quickly wipe it out within a few years. If you take the evolutionary train of thought, that's a key advantage of sex (in terms of it's ability to diversify genes efficiently and within a generation) over cloning (asexual reproduction) and was likely a pressure which drove the evolution of sex.
  12. Gotta love Bill Hicks! :D I picked up 'Rant in E-Minor' Just the other day. There's something almost hypnotic about how he could make truth wildly hilarious. As the booklet for Tool's CD Aenema puts it - "Bill Hicks - Another Dead Hero." You can probably already tell by my avatar and siggy that I'm a fan. :P
  13. A resounding and profound ditto. I Maynard, Tool and APC. Third Eye is incredible. I've always got those words tatooed on my brain - "Prying open my third eye."
  14. 'You Shouldn't Be Alive' - Ion Dissonance.

Sounds tasty. :P I suppose people like it so much because bacon is salty. It's wierd how some foods seem to be addictive. Any of the Aussies here had Oporto chicken burgurs with the chilli sauce? My god I swear I'm addicted. I'll end up on an intravenous chilli sauce drip I swear.

    (1) You didn't. I thought of removing it once I wrote it but I decided to point that out again. (2) See (1) (3) How does it automatically equal bad stuff? I could argue that living immorally is bad stuff and then it automatically leads to it. However, I can't say it automatically equals all that bad stuff, but I think chances of experiencing bad stuff caused by sex increase if you choose to have premarital sex. It's like if you've been given a map on how to get to a certain location, but instead of following the map you throw away the map and think that you can find the way on your own. You might find the way on your own but chances increase that you will have some problems getting there. So my views are being punished by the fact that humans are idiots incapable of following a set of morals? I don't want to interfere with peoples free will to do whatever they want. My goal is just to express that I believe that the world would be a better place without premarital sex. Now you're getting it. Not black and white.
  17. Lamb of God, Pantera, Metallica, Opeth, Ion Dissonance (brand new fan as of buying 'Minus The Herd' album), Lynchmada, Parkway Drive, among others.

Oh that is bad. I reckon they might move Hunt to half and Berrigan to 5/8..Ennis to Hooker :-k ...It will be hard winning now Yeah that's what I reckon they'll do. Broncos Premiership Defense = Over! :P If there were a middle finger emote, it'd be coming your way right now. :P (joking of course) Cry me a river, we all know the Broncos have no chance now! :boohoo: :P Yeah I saw an article in the paper that the broncos have won less than half of their games without Lockyer in the past. Off to watch the Sunday Roast now! :) Let's just say it will be interesting to see if the Broncos can form a damaging halves combo and continue winning games. No doubt it'll be an uphill battle though. Oh and go the RABBITOHS this arvo. :P
  19. The album 'Minus The Herd' by Ion Dissonance. Especially the outro to 'Kneel' when the singer repeats 'Sealed you doom' over that insane riff.

Just because many christians aren't able to live life according to the Bible doesn't it's wrong or that (1) we should disregard it. What you are proving is that (2) not many christians actually live according to the Bible. Although the point of following the Bible is not to avoid nastiness, just look what happened to the only man who was without sin. He ended up dying on a cross. (3) Maybe I just wish that for once there could be a black and white issue. It's like one time in my religious class. The question was whether you were for or against abortion and my answer was pretty much: "I don't need to have an opinion as I won't ever be facing a decision whether to make an abortion or not." A rather naive answer perhaps and today I wouldn't answer like that but it derives from my values. I thought that if I wouldn't have sex unless I was prepared to face the consequence of a baby, abortion would never be an issue. (1) Where did I ever say that? (2) Yes, I conceded that point when Insane and Astra challenged me on it. (3) Now I see your motives for trying to make it a black and white issue with your 'one side = bad and the other = good' comments. The intention of me challenging you was to tell you it's not a black and white issue. One side does not automatically = bad and conversely, the other does not automatically = good. If people followed the bible perfectly, then perhaps (I say perhaps because I'm not a theologian) your side of the argument would automatically = good. But let's look at my side of the argument. How does not following christian morals as dictated by the bible automatically equal all that bad stuff? It dosen't. It's not a black and white issue.
  22. I prefer to exhaust every train of thought or theory before I conclude a supernatural entity. If that means I'll never come to the conclusion of a supernatural entity then so be it. I'm more comfortable with knowing I don't know than making a leap and saying the supernatural does exist. Accepting ignorance and not arguing through it is what keeps science alive. If quantum mechanics can't explain how you think, why not try and explain thought through something different? To be honest you've lost me with much of what your saying. I'm clearly not as astute as you when it comes to philosophy.

Lockyer is out for the season! Dang it, we'll have to restructure. We need Mick Ennis at 7 to pick up a few gears and possibly put Hunt or Berrigan to 6. :wall: :wall: :wall:

You pity a life that is happy every day and positive? Well that explains why you're so morbid. I would have to say that I don't pity you and neither would anyone else :D in fact, I counsel people like you, ironic much? Goddess I hope you realise people are lining up on my side of the argument over you, I recieved this pm just this morning: People even want to insult you THROUGH me, that's hilarious don't you think? Hilariously pathetic.
  25. She could try her heart out to convert me but I'm confident I wouldn't budge. I'd definately not force what I think and the way I feel on her. The one thing I would not tolerate is a prospective female wanting to teach my kids about any religous story or book in a directed or biased nature.
