Athiest?
Wow I didn't realise there was solid proof that he didn't exist either. Have I missed something? Perhaps then you believe in Thor, Zeus or Quetzalcoatl? Or the invisible pink elephant, flying spaghetti monster or the flying teapot? Or ghosts, pixies, faries, gremlins, trolls, witches and warlocks? I think I've made my point clear enough. Yes well a billion people believe in Christianity, I doubt a billion people believe in pink elephants though. And that makes it true? Perhaps Christians are the best as evangelising and missionary work. Anyway the point I was making is that believing in something because it can't be disproven is 'backside'-about. The onus of proof is on the one making the claim, not the one denying it.

Athiest?
I'm an atheist of any number of specific gods. Judeo-Christian, Allah, Zeus, Mars, Thor, Quetzalcoatl and millions of others. Why? There's no proof. That's the simple version. I was a skeptic and a scientist before I was an atheist. The former two led me to the latter.

Capital Punishment
Perhaps if it really was a deterrent then there might be a convincing argument for it. As it stands, the states in the US which have the death penalty also have the higher crime and murder rates. When people commit a crime they don't weigh up the potential sentences they might get, they don't plan on getting caught. Ok, here's a chart of total crimes commited as an average per population. The higher up the graph, the worse it is right? http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_t ... per-capita Now here's a graph showing actual sentence length. I was operating on the theory, that the longer the sentence, the less likely people are to commit said crime in the first place... http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_s ... nce-length With a very few exceptions, the graphs show that in general my theory is supported. The countries with the shortest sentences (and I've got another graph somewhere that shows money spent per criminal), have the highest crime rates and vice versa. What I'm trying to say, is that in these countries people are discouraged from commiting crime as they know the sentences are harsh. This would translate here and in the US. Would you not agree? Higher sentences and worse jail conditions would reduce crime somewhat? You are absolutely correct that the death penalty has little effect in the states that it's in place. However, less than 1% of murders warrant the death penalty. It is likely (although no one has evidence for it), that would be murders are well aware of this fact and think that they are quite likely to sidestep an actual death sentence, given how rare such a sentence is. It's not an effective deterrant as the odds of being given a death sentence are incredibly small. You make a good argument. I was leaning towards the figures that assassin was alluding to but now you've made me rethink longer scentence times as a deterrant. Perhaps, as you've discussed a little, an actual life sentence in prison would be the biggest deterrant of all and more effective than the less than common death sentence. And I'm amazed to see New Zealand so high up that crime frequency chart. Lol.

You fooled me. If you think I do it for an ego trip you're wrong. I thought you were serious after I originally thought it was a joke and bigoted rediculous assertions like the one you made and seemed to want to defend annoy me. If people have a different opinion and it's based in some sort of reality then I don't care. Were you being serious in the sex change topic as well or was that all a charade too? No I was serious there but that is what provoked my charade, you weren't the only one BlueTear, LP, morons! Fooled by my unscrupulous genius to think that vegetable related deaths made vegetarians in some kind of danger. So what's the deal, you get upset over that discussion we had and you come here with the intent to fool people, you fool me and accuse me of arguing to uphold ego? Congratulations, if that's what you wanted to hear.

Global Warming topic
http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewpr.html?pid=15385 That's interesting stuff. It definately warrents much more research in the field in my opinion.

Global Warming topic
I'd be happy to read a source. The one you gave isn't working, sorry. "Propaganda global warming theories"? Why are the propaganda? All the scientific papers on the issue go through the scrutiny of the peer review system. My point on saying that real scientists (which are the majority, don't you worry about that) aren't stubborn was due to the way science is approached. Scientists applaud and accept alternate theories and emplore people to challenge old ones. The entire field of a particular science can and regularly do engage in discussion and find weak spots in old theories and any new ones presented. It's the scientific principle of accountability upheld by falsifiability. I'll reassure you that by the systems of peer review and the way science is approached by the overwhelming majority of scientists regardless of the theory, there is little to no stubborn attitude to speak of.

Global Warming topic
That's the point. Scientists are so stubborn in the mind as to thinking that CO2 is the culprit, but what if it's something else? In the picture about carbon dioxide releases in Hawaii, how do you know it's humans and not just the volancoes? The real ones aren't. Typical, stand up for your fellow scientists, even though I'm right. How's that? Find me a scientist that says that it's all our fault and none of it is caused by nature or it's not mainly due to CO2 increase. And no, the media is not a scientist. I'm talking about scientists that spend their whole life saying "Global warming will be in 2080 cuz de rates that de humans are submissing see oh too will maik bad water and no water in afrika." What about nature. What has nature done to contribute to global warming? I find how some scientists with common sense found out the thing with the mud interesting. I'm confused. What are we arguing about again?

I'll be happily proven in the wrong, which is the attitude real scientists take. They aren't stubborn. The want you to prove them wrong and welcome it, hence why we have peer review systems.

Lock this!!!
Buahaha :P I said that. Put it this way, it's one of the very few things I'm scared to try/ I tried that too, I just couldn't hold it in after 6 bananas, and it just came splurging, i guess you could say, out all over the bathroom floor. (I was eating the bananas in the bathroom as a precaution for exactly that. That's the second time that a Tip.It post made me crack up in RL! The same thing happened to me, only I was able to make it all go into the toilet. :D I envy you... Picture this: Some thirteen year old kid sitting in the bathroom trying to wipe up a whole crap load of bananas that were forcefully expelled from his body while his mom stares in a mixture of confusion and fear. Lol dude. :P Did you feel refreshed after your little bowel movement? Haha. Sorry mate, that's just too good.

Capital Punishment
That's hilarious. 5 grand? Go look it up. The government always spends crazy amounts of money on stuff, and Prisoners is no exception. They probably buy their food from companies who over-charge them to boot, just because they can. Come on dude, you adressed his guess but didn't adress the statistic he gave. The rationalisation with a 'probably' in the end just makes it worse.

Change of opinion?
Because, you've probably noticed, it always has an undesirable result, and thats been clearly demonstrated too many times. Unfortunately. If there are no insults then it... still probably wouldn't work. Here, anyway.

Vegetarianism? O_O
You're joking, right? Vegetarians don't always suffer nasty, nasty deaths nor are humans meant to purely eat meat. We are omnivores. I'm sure there are some very happy vegetarians out there too. Yeah.. must be a joke. Edit: Here's a little food for thought. http://www.rense.com/general20/meant.htm Did you know that last year 12,000 people ended up in hospital due to accidents involving vegetables? No you didn't because you're to narrow minded to appreciate facts, now stop being immature noobface. source ZOMG!! 12,000??111!! Out of 6.6 billion???!!!! Good god man, you're on to something. http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/extension/poison.html I'd like to draw your attention to the figures at the beginning of this article and the table down the bottom, specifically the 'types of foods' column. Two seconds worth of googling never goes astray, Striker. Back on your point, seeing as there are more than 12,000 vegetarians in the world (see the discussion of results section. These statistsics are for the US only), I'd like you to find new information or change this: Either you take what I'm saying into account or we all come up with frivolous, rediculous statistics and extrapolate ignorant and rediculous conclusions as I'm about to demonstrate to you now: Good lord! Brushing your teeth means only one thing; a nasty, nasty injury. Think about it.
-
Change of opinion?
Who sais you can't? I understand not insulting people for it but just becuase people believe it dosen't mean it should be tiptoed around. It should be scruitinised like any other idea and if people don't like that then they are clearly lacking faith.

we're good - they're evil
Too true. Look out for coverup after excuse after blame shift. I don't really expect that they'll be punished like any decent folk knows they should.

Lol, agreed. I've always been a fan of the way Hamish and Andy do thier comedy. All time favourites would have to be Bill Hicks and George Carlin. Comedy is funny. Truth and comedy is somehow funnier.

Your opinions on sex change?
Lol. Thanks for the compliment I suppose. I'd probaly crash and burn at debating actually. Public speaking is not my strong point.
