  1. Really? I've never met somebody who thought that. It's generally common sense that you can. 1st grade science ftw? Those were the 2 main points from your post.. and they are both BS... How is that second point BS?
  2. I'm not personally making an argument counter to yours. I just want to know why you have that opinion. If you are right it should be pretty simple to come up with any source. I'm not asking for anything specifically. Just anything. Untill then, you can think you own this 'debate' if you want. Edit: If it helps, I'll make an argument. Who's the real victim here; everyday people or those who do have transgender issues? Are they the danger to society or is society the danger to them? Source: Amnesty article.
  3. You could probably extrapolate any scenario to a possible death or armageddon. Does it happen that often? Well, the former dosen't and the latter never has. Thinking about what could happen or how a trivial descision changed your life is a waste of time. Sort of slightly interesting to think about, but, a waste of time.
  4. I'm not saying they're doing it for the fun of it, I am acknowledging that they are confused, mentally unstable people. I however don't believe that mutilating your body is the right way to "cure" them as it doesn't actually work they're just very mixed up people that need proper help. Nice argument there "the law is stupid then" how ignorant, you've just made an effort to try and ignore my point because you cant think of a logical way to argue it. I was using it as an example to make my point so it is relevant. As the law is a representation of society, designed to protect its citizens. Born in the wrong body, well if they say so right? I personally don't believe that anybody willing to have their entire body, personality mutilated by drastic surgery is in a position to decide what is right. Are we supposed to trust people with Multiple Personality Disorders just because its "their body" means they should be allowed to go around behaving erratically. Seriously if you're in a position where you are willing to do such a thing to yourself then you're not in a position to make good decisions. They're not mentally ill but have a mental condition, whats the difference here? I don't see any information supporting what you're saying here and either way just because I have a source on the Internet doesn't make it anymore reliable than what I'm saying right now. They aren't normal people they are very sick people. If you could respond to my previous post that would be great. It's not only for my sake, it's so people will accept your argument too. Again, if you are right, it shouldn't be too hard to find a news article, opinion piece, report, journal, anything that supports that these people are sick and dangerous.
  5. In the interests of learning things, I'd be happy to read any link you can provide which backs up your opinion. It shouldn't be to difficult if you're right.
  6. Nice pictures. Quite simply, Trapical, that rocked. Best of luck with the profession and keep enjoying those little things. They mean more than money ever could.
  7. How do you know? I was about to ask the same thing. I think, in the odd and probably rare instance that we have a transgendered individual here on tip.it, that we let them decide if it's made them happier before making an assumption like that. I don't know, and what I meant to say is that I don't understand how that could make someone happy. No matter what they do, they're still the same. That's a better way to put it. :)
  8. BEER. Woot, AUSSIES # 4. =P~ Not surprising, really. They should have done a picture of an Australian family. Meat pies, sausege rolls, fish and chips, beer, steak, lamb etc. :P

Woah. Those paintings rock. She's got something special.
  10. How do you know? I was about to ask the same thing. I think, in the odd and probably rare instance that we have a transgendered individual here on tip.it, that we let them decide if it's made them happier before making an assumption like that. They could be a danger to society and they're very disturbed... LOL. Isn't that a load of self-rationalising BS.
  11. 347th ranked for me. :P

Haha, too true. I didn't even notice him. He's just a gap filler at the moment.

In all fairness there were more calls that didn't go our way. I was left scratching my head at why a high shot on Lockyer wasn't pulled up and I can't see the Berrigan knock on which prevented a try of ours a descision that could have been come to without reasonable doubt (does anyone else think it was just flat and not a knock on are was I just daydreaming?). I would have thought it was grounds for benefit of the doubt but nope, it never seems to work out. Anyway we almost handed you guys the game with a knock on in the final seconds to play nice and share, but nope, still couldn't take one over the line. Our defence owned. :P Overall you can hardly say we didn't deserve to win. More or less the only thing that you guys beat us with was the kicking game. Oh, and QUEENSLANDER!!!!!!!!!
  14. Way cool. If only we could manipulate space time and jump through a wormhole, look back at earth and record the wavelengths and frequencies of all the light we observe and make an observational time line from it, we would have in effect but not physically travelled back in time to see what the earth looked like as far back as we wanted. Anyway, what does time look like? Well what does gravity look like? You can't actually see it but we can see the effects of it. The effects of time is the rather continuous realisation that almost nothing is in staisis. Everything moves and that requires a framework of time to do. If it didn't, then we would never have been born and be dead all at the same time.... kinda. :wall: The phenomenon these days is the quantification of time through clocks. Time still exists regardless of clocks as we can label something as past, present, or a possibility for the future and we can see this evolution of time play itself out in just about everything. All clocks do is allow us to 'get our crap together' to be the most productive species we can be.
  15. Which way do I tilt my neck when I look up? Haha, the whole idea is a little quaint in my opinion, but whatever floats your boat.
  16. "Hospital the Musical". Wollongong, NSW, Australia. They are so frantic and melodic I don't know whether I want to throw up or start hitting things and yes, that is a compliment. =P~
  17. I know it's a small thing and sorry for being pedantic but it's 'sickle cell anemia', not 'cycle cell anemia'. Anyway it's good to see you bringing up such a devestating disease, Trapical. I wasn't totally aware how cheap the medicine was. It's promising at least. Anyway it leavs me schratching my head when I look around at the world and see company CEOs riding around on multimillion dollar luxury boats, jets, helicopters or in thier rediculously oversized and lavish mansions when at the polar opposite of the dichotomy there's people dieing because they dont have a dollar or access to a chemist 20km's down the road because of thier severe weakness and as a result thier existance and life expectancy is woefully below thier potential. When I get my own crap together I'll end up donating.

When I read that, and think about it. It's so true. But do we not also crave for pure satisfaction? Or to get somewhere? I sometimes play a game, because that's what I do, it's part of my routine. It's almost as natural as eating. :-k Well, to be more elaborate and accurate, 'Life is the permenant search for permenant satisfaction which 99% of the time turns out to be temporary.' Nothing lasts forever so we just deal with it and try to get satisfaction out of it anyway.
  19. Heh, flattering pic. And for a good cause too, so good to see. Sorry to be a party pooper but I'll proably be donating to charity via a different medium but I appluad the principal behind what you're doing.
  20. warri0r45 replied to GfxFortress's topic in Off-Topic
Ever heard the phrase 'life is the permenant search for temporary satisfaction'? That's why we play games.
  21. [hide]I like the suspense and lack of resolution or your typical boring happy ending but I feel it could have been done better than just a cut to black. I saw it on the news and it didn't really make sense the way they did it.[/hide]
  22. Fungi Facts: Some can grow to monumental proportions; if you walk through the Malheur National Forest in eastern Oregon, USA and notice a few clumps of honey mushrooms (Armillaria ostoyae) they are not each an individual fungus. Rather, they are all merely the above ground extention of a single enourmous fungus. It's subterranean network of filaments spreads through around 890 hectares of the forest - more than the area of 1600 football fields. Based on its current growth rate, scientists estimate this fungus, which weights hundreds of tons, has been growing for 2600 years. Fungi are in the fungi kingdom in the 5 kingdom system of taxonomy. In the 3 domain system, they form part of the Eukarya domain, along with plants and animals, based on thier cell type. Although around 100,000 species have been discribed, as many as 1.5 million species are estimated to exist. Although some fungi, such as yeasts, are single celled, most are multicelled and are structured to maximise absorbtion of nutrients from thier environment. As a result of this need for nutrients, the bodies of fungi form a series of tiny filaments called hyphae rather than one single solid body. As little as 1 cubic centimeter of a fungal body may contain as much as 1 kilometer of hyphae filaments the total surface area of which being around 300 square centimeters. The cell wall in fungi contains chitin, a nitrogenous sugar polymer also found in the exoskeleton of crayfish, lobster, crab, etc, making them more related to animals than plants. The hyphae of a particular class of fungi, called coenocytic fungi, have no barriers between thier cells. As a result, each hyphae filament is in essence a single undivided cell (though not technically) with often hundreds of thousands of nuclei. The hyphae of some fungi can actually extend into plant cells in either a symbiotic or parasitic context. If parasitic, the hyphae of the fungi essentially drink the insides of the plant cells. Some fungal hyphae are actually adapted for trapping and killing prey, such as nematode worms. Fungi aid in the production of many foods and drinks; among them beer, some cheeses, soft drinks (a species of fungi is used to produce citric acid to add to them), bread, soy sauce, mushrooms and truffles (the last two for obvious reasons; they are themselves the fruiting bodies of fungi). The first antibiotic, penicillin, was produced from the fungi penicillium. Airborne fungal spores have been found 160km above the ground. Many plants rely on a symbiotic relationship with fungi to absorb nutrients which results in plants with fungal relationships growing faster. To digest food, fungi secrete powerful enzymes into thier immediate environment and absorb the newly broken down organic matter back into thier cells.
  23. I live in Australia so it'll be winter here. I still have around 1.5 - 2 months off uni. So much time... I think I'll restring my guitar. That is all.
  24. I couldn't do maths to save myself yet somehow I passed it in my senior year. I like science more.
