  1. put a sound recording device next to it and it will but no one is there to hear it? That includes a person putting a recording device there. It is impossible to tell if it will make a sound, because we only know sound happens when people are listening, or something is observing it. My feelings on the whole tree thing are upon falling it would cause vibrations therefore making sound waves. However, sound is just the sensation when our brain converts soundwavs into what we call sound. Therefore, if no one was there to hear it, there would be no brain to convert the sound waves to sound, therefore there's no sound made. ^^That's probably a bit confusing. At the bottom of the wikipedia page I found the link to the .999...=1 more interesting. I tend to disagree with it for no particular reason. I know you can round it up, but to me having two essentially different numbers equalling each other dosen't seem right.
  2. Hey man, COPS is a sick show.
  3. Yeah, fight his propoganda with ours. I think it's about time to fight back. :P
  4. I love you. I love you both. Music for the Recently Deceased FTW. My favourite song I'd probably say is Goodbye Tonight by a band called Sunk Loto. I'd say it's been my favourite song for ages if not for as long as I can remember. But in reality I have heaps of favourite songs, really. For instance I'd generally always have a tool song up there. Some of my favourites would be the representatives of thier albums, i.e. the songs Opiate, Undertow, Anema and Lateralus (the song 10,000 days is ok).
  5. You do realise what you wrote in your sig is completely and utterly false, don't you? It's quite annoying when people do that. Meh, we should probably just ignore him. He's probably just like Defender, posting the most random and ludicrous stuff to stand out and shake things on this forum up. I mean, have you seen him in religion threads  ? I know basically everyone here knows what he sais is uneducated crap and I should ignore him, but it's just a personal pet hate of mine, as some of the people here have picked up on. I could actually bring it to his attention how the bible suggests that we are an evolved species, but I don't think he would even listen to be honest.
  6. Wierd. I heard last night about him having broken bones. I suppose it fits with the suggested idea of murder. Poor bloke. :(

Sad but true (well, the principal is true). Never underestimate the capacity for human greed. :wall:

  9. I agree. I simply think that the atom bomb was a step too far too soon. In all fairness, Japan got cocky and attacked the USA...So we put them in their place and the war ended. ...We haven't been attacked by another countries military since. And no, whoever is thinking of posting "UHHH 9/11?!?!?!" - you're a dork. That was not a countries army, it was some lamer Muslims with some hi-jacked planes. And I doubt we'll ever be attacked again...Unless they forget that we really don't tolorate that kinda' crap and will TOTALLY melt your whole country for sport. Oh yea, and THAT is why everyone hates America...:P For the record, I'm not sayin' nuking countries is cool, but...Don't start nuttin', won't be nuttin'. :P Using nukes on the face of Earth isn't a wise idea, considering it's the same method of power the sun uses...That just can't be good. I know this may sound a tad anal or petty, but I don't mind. The nuclear power from the sun is through fusion of light nuclei to form heavier ones, more specifically the fusion of two protons to form helium nuclei. Nuclear weapons and power plants utilise fission or the splitting of a large atom, more specifically the splitting of a particular uranium isotope to get two nuclei roughly half the size. Actually you were kinda right, hydrogen bombs utilise a partly fusion reaction. Some even detonate in multiple stages of fission-fusion-fission/whatever.
  10. nothing makes someone do things like drugs...especially heroin and crack...they will do ANYTHING....for a high, regulated or not, they can't hold a job, thus must do crime to get the money for the next rush.... can't hold down a job? 50% of those earning over 200,000 pounds a year, in Britain, take cokain. In a covert survey conducted by an Italian news group, 1/4 of the italian parliament had cokain traces in thier body, and 50% had THC. There was a survey carried out last year on the tops of toilets of bars and public ares in Britain - the highest level of cokain was found in the house of commons toilets. Can't hold down a job eh? I'm thinking he was referring to dependant addicts on heavy drugs. Not everyone who takes drugs, even heavy drugs, is an addict. Coke remains in the blood stream for only 24 hours - so the fact that so many were found to have it in thier blood stream when tested suggests that they are regular users...or all of the tests were done after some huge party...which seems a trifle unlikley. There's a difference between regular users and addicts.
  11. You do understand that we don't actually have enough nuclear fuel on this planet to actually have no space to put all of the waste we get from it. Anyway, you do have a good idea in terms of the combination of power sources with a focus on anything but coal. If there is a natural resource nearby, i.e. constant wind, geothermal, constant radiation from the sun, great spot for a hydro electric, I'd utilise it.

  13. People who think everyone who hates America is simple-minded are simple-minded. :P Some people... *gasp* have reasons. And some people, like me, don't really totally abhor the place. All the attention America gets on it's bad points is simply because it is, in many ways, the biggest country on the planet, therefore it gets most of the attention and inevitably most of the criticism.
  14. :wall: That's all I can say. It went from the song with one of the best guitar solos ever (in my opinion) to some techno dance crap. I just don't get it.
  15. ah yeh i rremember some of that fom GCSE although we didnt go into great detail. I was just really thinking of what ive done recently which is the constituents of the atom stuff studying them right down to the quarks (dunno if spelling is right) which i believe are fundamental particles along with electrons. Yea, you're right in suggesting that chemistry doesn't go into subatomic particles such as quarks. The only subatomic particles chemistry deals with are electrons because of chemical bonding, protons because they determine what element you have and neutrons because they determine what isotope you have. Other than that, it's all physics related (quarks, bosons, whatever else).
  16. you absolute [developmentally delayed] you do know the atoms are physics, not chemistry. Also, as other people have mentioned; use an electron microscope. Oi, you. Before you start calling people such derrogatory terms make sure that you're talking from a position of authority and knowledge of your subject. If you're foolish enough to think that atoms and electrons have no place in chemistry, when in fact the arrangement of electrons around an atomic nucleus is responsible for all of chemistry, then that's your problem. But don't try and act superior about it. lol ok im sorry. But i do know about it. Im doin AS level physics and we did about it the fist unit, constituents of the atom and what not, which i got an A on. But your right, i know nothing about chemistry. :-# Simple mistake. Chemistry depends wholely on atomic structure, particularly valence shell electrons for bonding affinity. Electrical interactions are everything in chemistry; chemical bonds, electrolytes, electrochemistry, electrical interaction between R groups in macro(biological)molecules, metallic bonds, colvalent bonds, polar covalent bonds, ionic bonds, acid-base chemistry etc, etc, etc. In short, the electromagnetic forces of all matter on the atomic scale determine the structure of all matter on the macro scale.
  17. I think people just have an uneducated stigma about nuclear power. We've come leaps and bounds since Chernobyl and I don't think the broader public realise this. Everyone worried about nuclear proliferation are just dragging everything down as well. Sure, it's a problem, but we've all come a long way since WW2 and the Cold War, too.
  18. No worries. Just a few helpful sggestions that may not have been suggested otherwise. :-w
  19. In skirmish mode? Because I'm quite sure you can't. :? Edit: perhaps there's a clue in the version it sais on my title screen - "V2.00EAM" Make any sense anyone? Perhaps I need to update my version?
  20. Hey, this is a long shot but here goes. Does anyone know if there is like a patch you can download which allows you to save games in skirmish mode of the games Red Alert and/or Red Alert: Aftermath? Any help would be appreciated, if not, no worries.
  21. Tape the alpha particles back together. /circle of life complete. Roffle. K, deal. Immerse yourself in a star and then tape yourself and your newly fused earphone/ear combo back together. :P Sorry to the topic starter for the total spam by the way.
  22. If you want to go big you might as well go all the way. Dunk your head in there. A bit of fusion action will stick that earphone in good n' proper. It will turn you completely into alpha particles, though.
  23. I've seen you a grand total on one time on off topic. Welcome n' all that shiz, i suppose.
  24. 100% no worries earphone fused to your head. It'll kill you in the process, though. :XD:
  25. beat that! Beaten. (is that even a word?) :? But seriously, just get some of those earphones that wrap around your ears.
