On a science program there was this relitively normal savant (that's wierd in itself as they are almost always [developmentally delayed]ed in some way) who thought of numbers as lights, colours and personalities or something like that and he could recite pi off the top of his head to 22 thousand or so decimal places. :shock:

The purpose of a company is profit, but with it, many of them have unrivaled power. With this comes responsibility and a huge potential to do good. They should at least do the best for thier consumers and employees and in my opinion they should use thier wealth and power to help make the world a better place. Lord knows they have the capacity to do so. :-w

I could file though all of the things wrong with todays money and power hungry capitalist western society, but it would be depressing to say the least. Primative = ignorance and ignorance is bliss. I'd rather be a docile animal sometimes. =P~ I guess that's why you could say I like heavy metal music. You don't have to think about it and theres something so primative about just wanting to jump up and down to rediculously angry and angst-ridden music.

Thanks for your amazing opinion. It may shock you that just because he speaks very articulately and clearly with a Southern accent does not make him [developmentally delayed]. In fact, it's fair to say that he has had better education than you will receive in your entire life. Which George Bush are you speaking of? The one in the white house doesn't have an articulate bone in his body. Everytime I see him speak, I literally chuckle at him for sounding like a fumbling middle schooler. There are entire websites dedicated to how badly he sucks at speaking. The Southern Accent has nothing to do with it. I'd like to see anybody get up in front of over 300 million people on Live TV and not 'fumble' He's human :roll: Just because he stutters, doesn't mean he's an idiot. Of course everyone makes mistakes, but not to the point where you laugh at them when they speak. Now I've seen a segment on The Late Show with Dave Letterman called 'great moments in presidential speeches' which is incredibly hilarious. It compares two of the greats as far as American presidents go (Franklin D. Roosevelt and J.F. Kennedy) to George Bush in various Presidential speeches. It makes me laugh histarically at some of the rediculous things he sais and how he sais them. Note: I'm aware that the segments of speech are taken out of context.

Yeah, just because they are/were primative people dosen't mean that they are bad. I actually envy the simplicity they had in thier lives. Much easier than all the superficial tripe you have to wade through these days. I'm not saying their bad people at all. I just get really annoyed when people (especially Australians) say how bad we were for taking their land and settling on it. And trust me you'd be over a simplict life in no time. Just think about it - no electricity, no running water, no proper housing, no running water, no toilets (you have to go dig a hole everytime you need to do a number 2), no enjoyable things such as tv's, computer;s etc, you'd have to go out and catch your own food -day after day after day for your whole life instead of having the luxury of going to a supermarket, having to live out with the elements - through the rain, hail, wind, sun etc. The list goes on and on. I'm not bagging out the people (I know a lot of really nice Aboriginals) I'm having a go at their lifestyle and more particularly others (mainly fellow Australians) who are against the settlement of Europeans in Australia. :wink: @ the bold, sorry, I misinterpreted that part. I'd have to agree there, the american government has come across as egotistical over the years. I'd have to say many governments have some flaw in many cases. It's funny what power can to to the mind of the weak. They seem to be more occupied with winning votes than making a country better (which all of them generally have the power and/or capacity to do). Now i'm no expert on the workings of the goverment or the required timelines for major and minor projects to go ahead, but it just seems they could be doing more.

I hate how people say that - especially Australians. Compared to Europeans they've done nothing to Australia as a country. They just inhabited it first. Big deal. And what makes them any more "real Australians" than others such as the Europeans. :roll: I dunno mate, 40,000 years is alot of history, although they do have a bad wrap these days. I feel sorry for them for the stereotypes, but it's thier own fault in many ways (keep in mind stereotypes are never justified).

Sorry to you yanks and poms et al, but this topic if for the Aussies out there. Tomorrow is Australia Day, the anniversary of the landing of the first fleet way back when in 1788. What do you guys have planned for the day to celebrate? For me, I am going to celebrate the stength of Australian sport by watching the Aussies nail the poms (again :lol: :P ) in the ODI match on TV. :thumbsup:

My family comes from Louisana so we have a pretty twisted backround. My Great-Grandfather was a witch doctor and could heal anyone, as long as they did not pay him. It was supposed to pass onto my grandma then onto me, but fortunatly he died before being able to pass it on to my grandmother. I've also had an several incidents that nearly caused my life(or so my family says, and if you don't believe them then who can you believe?). The only incident I remember to this day was back 12 years ago I was asleep and my mom was getting ready to go to drop me off at the daycare then go to work. I was awoken by the window rattling, then my name was called out very very clearly, and trust me this was not God talking to me, this was a [cabbage] your pants o [bleep] moment. Then several times lights have passed by the top of my window where the words are. These don't prove that magic is real, but it proves to me that demons are real and so that in turn causes me to believe that magic itself must be real. I suppose it all comes down to personal experience. I am yet to be presented (to my own eyes) with such a case you provided.

Heh, I doubt rising seas will kill us. Sure, we might have to abandon some cities, but that won't kill us. More dependancy on air travel until the waterline levels, but shouldn't be a problem these days. If it happened 100 years ago, it would suck, but not now. It might not kill the human race, but it sure would kill the world's economy and trade systems. That in itself means the less rich countries would have a hell of a time getting aid, and hence many of them may die as a result. Rising sea levels = major anarchy. And as for whether or not global warming is happening, obviously it is as the greenhouse effect has been proven and we emit greenhouse gasses. Even though our emmisions may not be as much as natures, it dosen't mean we shouldn't try to do something about it. Some pollutants that are spewed into the air on a constant bases aren't easily broken down and some can kill you. As for 50% of americans not believing in global warming, hmm. Well they are the biggest users and biggest emitters so they may want to protect thier way of life.
