  1. The Negation by Decapitated (album).
  2. I'd have to agree, I've seen the routine and it didn't really get a laugh out of me at all.
  3. Salival by Tool (album).
  4. I don't think it should be changed. 26th Jan marks a very specific event in our history. Sure, it may not have been a great day for the indigenous people of Australia at the time, but changing the date would loose the meaning of the event - the arrival of the first fleet in 1788. If I had the mindset of some of these Aboriginal people calling for the date to be changed, I might think of the 26th of January and lament at the fact that a large part of our population descended from the rejects of Britain. But, i don't do that because, for better or worse, it's all relevant history and it should be remembered. I think most people use the day as a chance to see how far we've come since 1788 and celebrate what we've become, not lament over the past. We're already making efforts to promote reconciliation between European and indigenous Australians, and I don't think changing this historic date would help.
  5. From what little I've seen of his material (and perhaps this a premature judgement here) I'd have to say Bob Saget is one of the worst comedians I've seen. His routine just doesn't seem to have any substance apart from mindless vulgarity over and over again.
  6. You shouldn't make threads just to moan about your brother's taste in music. Despite his ignorance about metal being "emo", there's no reason to argue with him. Music taste is a subjective thing, and as far as I'm concerned classic rock is just fine and some is even excellent.
  7. I love Bill Hicks. Probably my favourite comedian of all time, along with George Carlin.
  8. Obscura by Gorguts (album).
  9. Looks like I'm not the only one who came here to say Dane Cook. Seems pretty unanimous now, haha.
  10. Rap

You can add me to that list too. The artists that have probably piqued my interest the most have been the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and Nas. I've been meaning to check them out further...
  11. I generally draw the line where speech directly incites violence, though sometimes it's a hard line to draw. If people have ideas they want to express which I find offensive, they can tell everyone about them and feel equally offended when society judges them negatively.

Are you sure you don't mean A Current Affair/Today Tonight? The 6:00 news is pretty much fine as far as I'm concerned. If anything, I'd accuse your comments of being sensationalist, not the 6:00 news.
  13. I've always liked Subway the best. Oporto is right up there, though. For those that don't know, they sell portuguese-style chicken burgers with chili sauce.
  14. Good to see you getting into Cynic. Erosion of Sanity by Gorguts (album).
  15. Masticate to Dominate by Gorgasm (album).

Some media sources blow trivial things way out of proportion and are biased, but then again some don't. When it comes to bias, Fox News and MSNBC in the States come to mind. Sources like these seem to have a problem separating real news from opinion, politics or just plain trivial things. Over here in Aus the (news) media doesn't seem to be anywhere near as comical, but current affairs programs like A Current Affair and Today Tonight are still the [wagon] of journalism as far as I'm concerned. We tend to get pretty straightforward, no nonsense nightly news, though I have spotted a touch of bias on the rare occasion, and slow news days do tend to produce the odd trivial "news" story. I think the best way to go when it comes to news is to get information from multiple sources - I often watch 9 News, 10 News, and ABC news as well. The benefit these days is that the news is all over the internet as well, so you can get many different sources for news at the click of a button, any time of the day.
  17. I think wasting the scammers time is definitely a good initiative in preventing people getting scammed, but by far the best way to avoid being scammed over the internet is to never give out bank details to anyone. Your bank will never ask for your pin number, passwords or anything like that anyway, so it's best to just delete or ignore anyone asking for them. Having said that, I have little sympathy for people stupid enough to continuously fork out thousands of dollars to these scams. They should be obvious enough to identify by now.
  18. Neurotripsicks by Gorod (album). God I love this band.
  19. I don't mind news threads, so long as there's some discussion value. It's my choice to come here and my choice to click on the threads, so if there's some thread that I don't like I have no reason to get annoyed about it.
  20. Planetary Duality by The Faceless (album). Kicks serious [wagon].
  21. Yes, this thread is pretty rediculous. To charge Obama with every military action a few days after he takes office is just stupid. Who was commanding them before? Bush. Did the U.S. military and military leaders stop every operation the instant Bush was no longer president? Of course not, they were probably continuing with the orders they were working under and will do so untill commanded otherwise by Obama's administralion, unless they were given orders to do what they did as soon as he got in. Untill you can prove that, it's a baseless argument.
  22. Focus by Cynic (album). Hell yes.
  23. Focus by Cynic: Traced In Air by Cynic: Unquestionable Presence by Atheist: Very happy about these albums. Got half my mail order in today. :)
  24. Well, I could make some sweeping generalisations about what's required of the metal ion, but I don't really know the answer to the question. I'm sure there's some info out there on the affinity of given metal ions for oxygen and CO2.
