Good Covers
Definitely agree with All Along The Watchtower. If I'm not mistaken Dylan himself thought is was excellent.

Hell yeah, the vocals are really convincing. :thumbup: As for Some good covers I like, Easy and War Pigs by Faith No More come to mind (covering the Commodores and Black Sabbath respectively). I also like Tool's cover of No Quarter, originally performed by Led Zeppelin: BdQGSykj6vo

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
If that were the case, then there would be nothing wrong with being genetically predisposed to killing people, but we can still say that the act of killing people is wrong (I think we can all agree that it is). Likewise, some people might concede that being gay isn't wrong because it's not a choice, but they might still say that homosexual sex is wrong (for whatever reason). All the "choice" debate does is to help determine whether it's right or wrong to actually be of the homosexual sexual orientation. I don't think many people would say being gay is wrong if it's about as controllable as skin colour. The "choice" debate is probably a means to help get homosexuals accepted as a valid cohort of society, like the civil rights movement was for blacks, etc.

Songs that make you go crazy
I have a new favourite. Slaughter of Innocence by Malevolent Creation (from the album Retribution): [hide=]VnokJHmxykw [/hide] The whole song builds up to an insane climax - hear how the guitar drops off, the bass rumbles on and soon after the double kick comes in like a bunch of bombs going off. Over the top you hear the simple but effective lyrics: DIE MOTHER F**KER!!!!! Damn, I love this song and and this album so much. An absolute must have for any death metal fan. It tears a whole bunch of so-called "brutal" death metal bands to shreds.

Moral Dilemma
What's pointless about getting people to think about their own moral principals? What's so pointless about exposing people to alternate points of view? Thankfully these are only hypotheticals and we're not choosing for real, but as far as I'm concerned there's some value in talking about this stuff.
-
{{A Very Difficult Question}}
I don't think people get what a hypothetical scenario is. The question isn't "is this a feasable scenario", it's about what you would do, hypothetically, on moral principles. Most of them are just trying to get you to think about what your set of moral values is.

{{A Very Difficult Question}}
No.Life is not AoE.You cannot create babies just like that. AoE? Age of Empires? Well, we can create life just like that. We do it all the time with IVF treatments. I suppose your issue isn't really with creating the lives, it's with destroying them.

Any Black Metal Fans Here?
I've gotta say that's been my first impression, too.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Good point, Zierro. I think the nonsensical nature of choosing to counter our biological attraction to the opposite sex is a better argument for it not being a choice. If homosexuality were a choice, presumably I'd be able to choose to be attracted to guys, but as far as I'm concerned it's going to take some serious deprogramming before I can do anything like that.

Recommend me, *dun dun duun* A punk band.
That's too bad, my favourite punk band at the moment is pretty hardcore. Not in the emo/metalcore sense, but I mean real, original hardcore punk. http://www.myspace.com/extortionextortion

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
If there were 100% hardcore proof that being gay isn't a choice then that looks like a pretty big plus for homosexual supporters. Who would argue that it is wrong to be gay even when those who are gay have no control over it? It would equate it to other uncontrollable factors such as race - and we all know how racist discrimination just derives from ignorance. Hit the nail on the head - that's probably exactly why fundamentalist types argue that it's a choice. They don't want thier opposition to homosexuality to be seen as something like racism. But at the same time I agree with the sentiments of Lateralus - it shouldn't really matter if it's a choice or not. What homoserxuals do behind closed doors, choice or not, is about as consequential to me as what movies they like to watch.

{{A Very Difficult Question}}
They're there to spice things up. To force a difficult decision. Its all hypothetical, so let's just go with it. Actually, multiple embryos are produced in regular IVF procedures and those not used are just disposed of (or hopefully put to use in stem cell research). So essentially, it's not all that different from IVF in itself. Come to think of it, you've got a good point. I'm not so sure I'd resent my parents either. If you make the new baby part of the family and show them that they are valued, I suppose not much resentment would come of it, if any.
-
{{A Very Difficult Question}}
Or you could look at it from the view that the 5 year old has more life to live, so they have more to loose. I suppose you could argue then that the embryos should be saved, but I wouldn't exactly equate a 5 year old to embryos personally. As for the topic, I'd probably sacrifice the embryos for the sake of Jeff (taking this on moral principles alone). However, I'm not sure how the baby that donates the blood will feel when he/she grows up. They'd probably resent the parents for making them purely as a means for blood donation and not out of love.

Moral Dilemma
Problem 1: Switch the tracks so it hits the one, not the three. The way I look at it, you're essentially saving two lives, not killing one. Problem 2: I've heard it before, but the way it was told to me was that you knew for certain that you and everyone else would be caught and killed. In that case, I'd kill the baby (even if it was mine) because it would die if we were all caught anyway. There's no use in throwing life away like that for no reason. Again, I'd look at it as saving many lives, not taking one. But, if there's only some chance that the group will be caught, well that just complicates things. I'm not so sure about that scenario. As always, I'm sure these scenarios would be much harder to deal with if they happened for real.

Nothing else to add - I don't care about peoples' eating habits. It's lucky he isn't a vet :? ... It was probably just a typo or something.

I still hadn't checked them out until I saw this, so I decided to hear what they have to offer. I have to say I'm really impressed. It's [bleep]ing brutal, technical and epic. :thumbup: I'm definitely going to buy Annihilation of the Wicked.

Perhaps Leprosy by Death. A great opener to a great album.

thoughts about vegatarianism
People think eating meat is wrong because of cruelty to animals. I'm a meat eater, but I think it would be ideal if cruelty to animals was kept to a minimum, which it can be with proper farming/slaughter methods. The problem there is that it's not always economically sensible to be kind to our food. Edit: other people have good points too, namely religion (you'll never catch a Hindu eating a cow) or as a lifestyle choice. It's a sustainable diet if you include plenty of legumes for protein, etc. In fact, it would have benefits in terms of reducing cholesterol and therefore reducing the risk of heart disease.
