  1. I'm surprised this person has an iron. That's seriously rediculous.
  2. Luckily none of my family members have had cancer. I do know a uni lecturer who got brain cancer, though. I'm not sure of the status of that, but it's never a good thing to get, obviously. Cancer really is a horrible disease. The thought of the body essentially killing itself is pretty awful. All the best to your uncle.
  3. So you're saying that approving this bail out would be bad and the Dems are endorsing it? Isn't it the case that the economy goes down if these companies aren't bailed out? Sorry, my understanding of the economy is pretty rudimentary at the best of times.
  4. Forgotten Past by Death. :D
  5. I remember those days. My tests went fairly well, such that I got an OP (overall position) of 8. In Queensland, an OP 1 is the best and an OP 25 the worst, so I was pretty happy with my score. How does the UAI system work in NSW? Best of luck to anyone doing their tests, by the way.
  6. I didn't realize you were into death metal.. Just finished listening to Ire Works (Album) by The Dillinger Escape Plan. I don't know what's happened. I used to love this guys, but that is such a boring album. Moving onto Undertow (Album) by Tool. It's my least favourite of all their albums (though I haven't heard Opiate) but that might just be because I've never really given it a chance. So, I'm giving it a chance now. :) Death metal is growing on me, slowly but surely. The work of Chuck Shuldiner in Death well and truly got me into it. Now I consider Death one of my favourite bands, perhaps in my top 5 of all time. I'm now one album from owning their entire back catalogue, not including early 80's demos. It's not often that I'll like a band enough to buy all their material (another example would be Tool). Speaking of Tool, personally I think Undertow is a great album, it just shows a different side of their work. I tend to like a band that shows a bit of musical evolution through their career rather than 10 albums of the exact same thing. To keep on topic, at the moment I'm listening to Raining Blood by Slayer.
  7. It's pretty disgusting that someone could do that kind of thing to any defenseless child, but unfortunately there are nutters in every country. The portrayal of Muslims as terrorist types in some circles of society is to blame. I've not seen the movie you're talking about so I can't really comment on it too much.
  8. In Hell I Burn by Deicide.
  9. I love eating meat, but it is true that sometimes animals aren't treated well. Propaganda from PETA doesn't help anyone, though. I'll always support humane treatment of animals where necessary, and no, that doesn't include not eating them. I largely agree with Lateralus. Eating meat isn't immoral, though it would be immoral to ignore that the rights of animals are dashed for the benefit of our wallets. Obviously a company will do whatever is best for it's bottom line, so that's where government regulation comes into it.
  10. 207 mg/dL is about 11.5 mmol/L. That's a bit of a worry an hour after a meal. I think it's best you see a doctor. Thankfully these days it's a relatively manageable disease, I'm sure your family and doctor can help you out with anything you need to know. Also plenty of decent info on the net, e.g: http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp
  11. I'm not that huge of a fan but they are talented musicians. I heard that Octavarium song yesterday on youtube and it's pretty good.
  12. Depends how far your empathy stretches. Robots, I don't think so. They've been programmed by humans so we understand that they don't have real emotions. As for aliens, their emotions would likely be more real than a robot's (being organic beings and all), so I say give them rights, depending on the scenario. What I mean by that is this: we shouldn't be blubbering about whether they've had due process in a court or a right to life if they're annihilating us.
  13. Necrosadistic Warning by Cannibal Corpse

Sounds like an absolute bastard. You can't just go around making those kind of claims about people. I hope they sue him for defamation.
  15. That's right. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/qa/qa16.htm
  16. Exactly. It's typical of a bunch like PETA to put the welfare of animals over humans. It's completely unrealistic to expect to replace the whole dairy industry by harvesting human milk. Even if you payed everyone who gave milk, I seriously doubt you'd have enough. Besides, who would want to drink it and what dairy farmer would want those kind of overheads? Just to add, I'd be seriously skeptical taking information from an organisation as ideologically driven as PETA. They claim that drinking milk is linked to allergies, which is accurate, but so is eating peanuts. The point is that a few people will show food allergies to various food types; that's no excuse for the rest of us to stop eating that particular type of food. To be fair, there is some research out there that links milk consumption to increased risk of prostate and ovarian cancer, but there's also some research linking milk with lower colon cancer and lower breast cancer in premenopausal women. But would PETA ever say something like "cow's milk is a potential benefit to your health by..." No, of course not. They're the kind of people who always love to stretch the truth (or at least be economical with it) to emotionally blackmail people.
  17. What If?.... by Control Denied. Picked up the only album Conrol Denied released before Chuck Shuldiner died 2 years later. Liking it so far. I think the vocals will grow on me, but I wouldn't mind a bit more of a death growl.
  18. I like Focus, but Traced in Air is MUCH better, imo. I never really got into Atheist for some reason. Is Unquestionable Presence a good place to start? Absolutely, it's a great album (Unquestionable Presence). Currently listening to Sentimental by Porcupine Tree.
  19. It's really not worth smoking because you feel a little stressed. I feel a little stressed every now and then and I don't see any need to smoke. All it tends to do to people is give them shortness of breath, a hole in their wallet and possibly either lung cancer, emphysema or heart disease. There's no doubt that nicotine can relieve stress and give a small, short term mental gain (releases endorphins, activates the reward pathway). But when it comes to being dependant on smoking to get that effect, the side-effects can only make it a bad choice in my eyes. Like other people have said, there are other things that can relieve stress. Try jogging. It's probably not going to be as effective as a drug, but it does work to relieve stress and release endorphins.
  20. Any version of the Big Brother and Idol franchises. Absolute crap.
  21. Scream Bloody Gore by Death.
  22. Exactly. It's amazing how some people are so hung up on arguing what is and isn't "metal" as if the question of whether it's good music or not means nothing to them. Just another example of completely backwards ideological thinking. Anyway, whether it's a true metal genre or a fusion genre of sorts, it does have a significant basis in metal music.
  23. Wow. Conservapedia is just incredible. Comparing the pages on Obama and McCain is just hilarious. "The trustworthy encyclopedia" sounds suspiciously like some other slogan I've heard before... something like "fair and balanced," I think.
  24. Sounds pretty good. Your drumming sounds good, too. Good luck with everything.
  25. Is that out now? I'm really looking forward to it. Anyway, currently listening to The Unforgiven III by Metallica. Incredible solo. :)
