Flag Burning.
Is that what a flag burner told you? Or is that your reaction to it based on what you feel the flag to represent? Do you seriously think that every flag burner hates all that the country stands for?

Why is it wrong for males to hit females?
It's generally seen as wrong because females are the weaker sex physically. Taking advantage of that it frowned upon, and so it should be. The thing that bugs me, though, is when certain facets of society take very seriously claims of abuse against women or rape of women, but not the opposite. Think the judicial system here. It's automatically assumed that men can't be abused or that men aren't the best choice for custody of the kids, etc.

Aw man.
Stop being superstitious, for one. It will only make you paranoid. Other than that, many schools have a counsellor or perhaps a chaplain if it's a religious school. It's probably best to go see them.

(1) That's in no way obvious. Not one bit. Thanks goes to reaper88888 for vindicating that point.

2012 Apoclypse: Fact or Fiction?
Personally, I can't wait untill 2013 when nothing has happened. People have predicted the end of the world thousands of times and none of them came true, so I suspect that people are just buying into the fanfare of yet another conspiracy.

Christians: Why do you go to mass?
I used to go to a chapel service every other morning or so for school. It didn't do anything for me, but more power to those who get something out of it.

Drug Vacinations
Do you have more information about this? I've never heard about it before so I don't know what I'm looking for. If what you're saying is true, then it could have a place in drug rehab.

Russia threatens U.S. and Poland with Nuclear Attack.
Look just a few posts up. I realised that.

So, the singer from my favorite band emailed me..
You should have pretended to be an agent... :) What album were they up to when that happened? This would have been around the end of last year or so. A little after they released Minus The Herd.

Russia threatens U.S. and Poland with Nuclear Attack.
Of course, the trajectory of a rocket goes without saying. I was just trying to flesh out the logic of choosing Poland of all places to defend The US (and Europe, thanks for the reminder) against a rocket attack from a country like Iran. I actually had a little play around on google earth and it makes more sense to me now, that's for sure. If the strategy is to defend both Europe and the US from a rocket attack from Iran, then Poland is pretty much spot on for that job. I definitely think that Russia are overreacting here, especially with the ballsy threat of using nuclear weapons. If the US were secretly trying to defend against a Russian attack, then the best place to set up defences would probably be a Scandinavian country or even Canada, not Poland. That's assuming that Russian missiles are geographically near the Moscow area. If they are towards the other end of Russia, then I can't see how defences in Poland could do much to stop an attack on the US.

Haha, I've tried that a few times. The first one was some member of Canadian deathcore band Ion Dissonance. It was the guitarist, I think. My message was something to the effect of hey dude, your album is awesome and you should come and tour Australia. The reply was one of friendly gratitude to the compliment and he asked if I knew any booking agents. I didn't think I'd be of much help so I didn't reply back. The second was a member of a band probably no one here has heard of. They're a band from Wollongong in NSW, Australia, called Hospital the Musical. My comment was something like I heard your music on myspace and I love it. It's really raw and aggressive and I'm definitely gonna pick up your EP. Keep up the awesome work. Again, the response was one of friendly gratitude. Its nice to know that these guys really dig the feedback from fans. The final one, and I doubt this one more than the other two, was from Chris Adler, drummer of Lamb of God. Yeah, you can see why I kind of doubt that "Chris" (as he called himself in the e-mail) was the Chris Adler of LOG. My message was something to the effect of Hey, I heard you guys are coming to Australia again for a tour. I saw you guys last time and it was awesome, Im definitely going again! His response was something like We LOVE it there! See you there Chris. Again, a nice, friendly message. I think it's the people who have to work the hardest to make themselves in the industry (whatever industry it is) that are the nicest. It seems to be the no talent, 15-minutes-of-fame, I'll thrash out this garbage and become a star overnight kind of people that are mean or snobby to fans.

Russia threatens U.S. and Poland with Nuclear Attack.
It's a missile defense system, right? If so then that concern makes no sense and the Russians shouldn't have it. The US could shoot at the Russians, and they couldn't shoot back. The shield could stop Russian missiles, and allow the US' right through. Ah, I see. Makes sense, thanks for that. Does anyone buy that this system is aimed at defending against an attack from Iran? [hide=][/hide] I suppose it could be plausible, though I'm no expert on missile defence systems. Beside that, wouldn't the US be more worried about defending Israel against an attack from Iran, considering the motives of a guy like Ahmadinejad? If so, then I don't see how a missile defense system in Poland would be effective for that.

Flag Burning.
Exactly, it depends on your belief when burning the flag, i.e. it all depends on what the person doing the burning thinks and what they feel it represents. My point is simply that I doubt all flag burners do so to disagree with every value, belief, and freedom of the country in question. If they really did, then they would have left already.

I don't quite understand why Russia would be that threatened by a missile defense system in Poland. Do they have some secret plans to launch some missiles that way? Why do they care?

Flag Burning.
What makes you think that they don't? What makes some people here so keen to lump all flag-burners in with the likes of Islamic Extremists who hate every little thing about America? I can't understand this attitude at all. People argue all the time that "if you don't like it, leave!" Well then why don't they? Could it be because flag burners actually like many of the things about their country? That they actually like many of these things that some overly-patriotic person sees in the flag? If they were all so against their country, they wouldn't be burning a flag to bring attention to it, they would leave. So clearly, not all people who burn a flag are doing so to deface all that it stands for. Perhaps many of them just don't like some action of the government? I'm not pointing any fingers specifically, but too many people are jumping to a very single-minded conclusion. Few people want to actually probe these people and get inside their head to ask why they burn the flag. As I said on page 1, it's not something I'd do to get a point across, but I don't jump to the conclusion that people who burn a flag must hate everything about that country. That's just nonsense to me.

favirit songs lyrics
[hide=In Death - Is Life by Meshuggah]So imminently visible - this cloaked innocent guilt Sentenced to a lifetime, a second of structured chaos Trampled by the ferocious, raging crowds of solitude I'm the soil beneath me soaking up the sustenance of my own death Extradited to the gods of chance, the deities of all things random Alive, multicolored, twitching in their dead monochrome world[/hide] [hide=Sum by Meshuggah]Vision will blind. Severance ties. Median am I. True are all lies[/hide] Both from the album Catch 33. It's a concept album, the concept being paradoxes and contradictions. [hide=Third Eye by Tool]Dreaming of that face again. It's bright and blue and shimmering. Grinning wide And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes. On my back and tumbling Down that hole and back again Rising up And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye. In... Out... In... Out... In... Out... A child's rhyme stuck in my head. It said that life is but a dream. I've spent so many years in question to find I've known this all along. "So good to see you. I've missed you so much. So glad it's over. I've missed you so much Came out to watch you play. Why are you running?" Shroud-ing all the ground around me Is this holy crow above me. Black as holes within a memory And blue as our new second sun. I stick my hand into his shadow To pull the pieces from the sand. Which I attempt to reassemble To see just who I might have been. I do not recognize the vessel, But the eyes seem so familiar. Like phosphorescent desert buttons Singing one familiar song... "So good to see you. I've missed you so much. So glad it's over. I've missed you so much. Came out to watch you play. Why are you running away?" Prying open my third eye. So good to see you once again. I thought that you were hiding. And you thought that I had run away. Chasing the tail of dogma. I opened my eye and there we were. So good to see you once again I thought that you were hiding from me. And you thought that I had run away. Chasing a trail of smoke and reason. Prying open my third eye[/hide] Or just about anything by Tool, really.

Racism speculation
That's not racist. It's pointing out that a selected group of people still have a chip on their shoulder because of what happened to their ancestors. For what it's worth it annoys me too, because that attitude is not amenable to equality between races, which is supposedly what they want. That attitude only serves to divide people and perpetrate a victim mentality. If they want equality, they need to ditch the grudge first.

Racism speculation
Logically speaking, I can't see any difference between pointing out that someone is black in an effort to devalue them or pointing out that someone has red hair in an effort to devalue them. Theyre both racist attitudes. But when it comes to whats seen as racist in general society, it seems to come down to how people point out a physical difference (in what tone and context) and what precedent has been set for judging the physical difference in the past. Historically speaking, pointing out that someone is black has been in the context of devaluing or dehumanising them and this has set a precedent which carries through to this day. Did you know that the N word was originally derived from the Latin word niger, which means black? You may scratch your head and think how is essentially calling someone black different from calling someone white or pointing out that someone has red hair? As said above, the key there is the context its used in, both today and in the past. The precedent set for the meaning of a word means everything in this issue. On the other hand, I don't think there's been such malice behind comments directed at red heads. That's why a comment about someone's red hair isn't really seen as racist but a comment about the dark colour of someone's skin is. In other words, there's not been that precedent set yet. Racism is more the attitude behind the words than words themselves. I dont really think that racism can be judged by how offended someone is at the supposedly racist comments, either. Its really whats in the head of the people calling you names. If someones attitude is that people of a certain racial group (which arguably includes red heads) are all of lesser value or humanity than themselves and their own racial group, then they are racists. But as I said, what a society deems racist isnt that logical.

Olympics 2008
The biggest disgrace of these olympics isn't the gymnastics, it's the fact that the poms are actually beating us Aussies. Let's hope you guys don't start spending more money on cricket. Arguably, the UK are part of the reason that our cyclists didn't get any gold this time around (we got about 6 in athens).

Bigfoot?
Some are calling it a hoax now. Here's a nice little summary of the issue thus far from National Geographic: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... t-dna.html For some reason, these guys are waiting untill September for more evidence. It doesn't take that long to do an autopsy. I think they're holding out for some reason, so I definitely smell BS: http://www.ecanadanow.com/news/curiosit ... 80818.html

Flag Burning.
It doesn't really bother me, although it's probably not something I'd ever do. Personally, if I wanted to make a political point, Id do it in a way which doesnt involve flag burning. People may be overly offended by flag burning based on what the flag represents, but in a way I can see that others may be offended by the proposition that they are stripped of the very freedom to burn the flag. Let me put it this way: People who are against flag burning dont like that the symbolism of the flag (the countrys freedoms/other qualities) are being desecrated, yet it could be the case that people who support flag burning are just as worried that such things (freedom) would be desecrated, or compromised, by a ban on flag burning. In this sense, comments like if you dont like the place, leave dont help any. Most of the time, Id suspect that flag burners actually like many things about their country and its lifestyle (including the freedom to burn the flag) they just dont agree with some political decisions of the country's government. This is speculation on my part. I'd love to talk with a flag-burner to see what they really think about this. Anyone here avidly pro-flag burning? In a free society ruled by democracy, people should have every right to question the actions of the government. Theres none of this nonsense that they should leave if they disagree with politicians.
