What clique/subculture do you think you're classified as?
Well I was a complete metal head, and hung out with the goth kids, but that wasn't great, and it did not end well. Now I wear jeans and black t-shirts most days. Currently I'm wearing any coloured t-shirts i have, and shorts, kinda looking skaterish. My personality is way different to most people I know, and I don't really fit in very well. But, if i were to put myself into a clique it'd probably be a nerd/metal head. Mainly because most of my friends are on my course, and we're in our 4th year of uni, and as such are pretty close, although in my other location I'm pretty much in a group of metal heads (a diffferent group of people that those i mentioned), so I'd say I'm a bit of both.

Head First!! (into the floor)
So today I started playing, after a while I stopped, and did some calculations, figured out exactly the materials i needed and purchased everything for my epic mission to 99 fletching. So I got stuck in to cutting, and things were going well, until i started trying to multi task on my laptop. Turns out, if I frequently switch between windows, scape wont recognise my keyboard so I can't input anything, which is kinda infuriating when trying to blast through some simple tasks. Oh well, nevermind, life goes on. Yesterday I went to gymnastics, and while I didn't learn anything specifically new, I had a sudden recollection of why I try my best and don't chicken out of things. So I'm in the air, after coming out of a roundoff with a sizeable bouce, going for a back tuck, when I stop, lock up and freak out. Going head first straight to the floor, I accept that I really shouldn't give up on things midway through, and that they can have painful consequences. So then, inevitably, I land, right on my head, probably the most painful thing in recent memory, and my back is hurting now. But I get up, carry on with the class, successfully land another round off back tuck, and everything goes well. Today, another reaction, another happy face. I left the lab early to relax, but things had gone well. I've been invited to a barbeque, which should be awesome. This weekend I'm going looking for an ice skating rink, then hopefully convincing my friends that ice skating is fun and that they want to do it. Peace

Onwards! No one can stop me now.
So today, I achieved 2 major things I set out to do. I reached 95 fletching, after one week of attempting this silly goal, all seems to be going well. I'm still motivated, I'm figuring out ways to optimise each part. I've even played the last 2 hours listening to Iron Maiden, and been blistering through the arrows. I hope to have the first 90k finished tonight, and then the sky is the limit... or, well, the xp just over 99 is, I have no desire to go any further. 3 levels gained so far, hopefully about 10 more to go, 4 fletching and 6 smithing. I've already given up on the woodcutting idea, because I realised how tedious it is. I also took my synthesis one step further today in the lab, and isolated something that has never been made before. It's incredibly satisfying, and it yielded 100% for the step, which made me incredibly happy. The reaction proceeded exactly as planned, with nothing unforseen coming up. Hopefully the next 4 steps go just as well. Tomorrow I will be doing very little, both in the lab and on scape, as I'll be leaving the lab early and getting home late, for tomorrow is gymnastics evening. I'm aiming to learn to either front tuck 180 off a springboard, or round off to 180 front tuck on the floor, so tomorrow will be all about the 180 fronts. Failing that I'd like to get front pikes on the floor, I nearly had them last week, but my landing was too sketchy for me to be pleased with them. Also, I found out one of my favourite bands decided to call it a day earlier in the year, that made me a little sad as I really enjoyed their music, and I don't know how many people actually own their album. They only released one album, and in my opinion it was good, although I'm sure many people wouldn't enjoy the singers voice, and would find the music a little boring, but I'm glad I found them. Hope anyone who is reading this is doing well. Peace.

Skateboarding
I started relearning to skate about 3 weeks ago. I can nearly ollie consistently, but i'm still working on it. I'm mainly using it as a means of getting from a to b in 5 mins rather than 15. I bought this shop set up for S$ 95, which is about £40. I don't know what that is in US $, but its quite cheap for a board. When I got it the trucks were hella loose and the wheels had a lot of play in them but I've tightened everything thing up and now it rides nicely. Its only one colour, bright orange, and its awesome. I'm gonna start going to the skate park more regularly and try and get some tips on riding and tricks.

Frost*
Hey guys, Does any one on here listen to Frost*? Have you even heard of them? They've released 2 albums, which have both been incredible. I prefer their debut over their second album, mainly due to the title track, a 26 and a half minute epic song, thats very well put together, as well as the song Black Light Machine, which is just over 10 mins long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPlqVwjDfUw The founder of the band is a guy called Jem Godfrey, who has written a great number of songs and written with a lot of famous pop artists. They play progressive rock style music, which I adore, and I think their a pretty exciting band, especially after having seen them live. I've just finished listening to both albums, and thought I'd try and share their music around. Peace.

Griiiiiiiind!
So I've made my first 90k arrow heads, and got 81 smithing in the process, which was easy enough. I've been working all day on cutting arrow shafts, and made over 90k. I'd completely forgotten all the changed they made so it wasn't just clicking, hence the title of this post. This is gonna take forever. I'm currently attaching feathers, all 90k of them, then eventually i'll get to adding the first set of arrow heads. I'm still motivated. We'll see how that changes over time. I think the first 90k will be the most difficult, then the next 360k should feel alright. I'll see how it goes, I added a fletching progress bar to my sig, I started at low level 94, and i think i'm still around low, but i'll be close to 95 easily by the end of the week. I have a 3 day weekend due to it being national day tomorrow, which is good, a nice day to relax, and I might go and see the parade, but I'm unsure as to my plans at the moment. I got up this morning and watched UFC 117 live, and it was awesome, really exciting with lots of good fights. If anyone follows MMA let me know, I wanna discuss the happenings of the MMA world, and my views and see what other people think. I ran today, a figure of 8 around the campus, which was interesting, but half the campus is blocked off by this stupid fence thats been put up for hosting the youth olympic village. I'mma try and get myself to see the Gymnastics programs if they're on at good times for me as I'd really like to see some awesome gymnastics. My music library is running thin as I did not transfer and rip enough music to this computer before i left, and now i'm really missing some albums that I'd forgotten about at the time. I have a stack of papers to read, but right now don't have the motivation to read them, although its vital that I read one of them before tuesday. Peace.

First Blog. A big Challenge.
Hello everyone. My name is Topham. I've been on this forum for ages, and I know I'm not nearly as active as I should be for the time I've spent on these forums, I hope to make up for it by writing these blogs. Now i'm an avid blog writer, but I have no outlet for my runescape side, and here I will be mixing both my real life and runescape goings on, elsewhere i'll be maintaining my music and entertainment type blog, and that is not for here. Some Background on me: So, my account on RS is Punk Man666. I've had the account for as long as I can remember, but I'm not the most consistent person, hence me starting this blog, so I can stick to my plans, as well as inform anyone who cares about whats going on. I'm a very active person, and I really enjoy life. I somehow end up with lots of spare time, which a fair share of it I spend playing runescape. I moved recently for my work placement to singapore, with 4 other people, all of whom have no real enthusiasm for computer games. My current friend list in scape is entirely composed of people i know in real life, and that when I'm at home I see very frequently, however, feel free to speak to me, as my chat should always be on public. My Current total is 2085, with 99 attack as my only 99. My current aims are 99 fletching from 94, by way of 79-85/86/87 smithing, making arrows, also hopefully getting 91 woodcutting from 90. Today I bought 6k addy bars, and have already made about 750 of them into a lot of arrow heads. My immediate goal is to get 81 smithing, followed by getting all the wood for my journey to 99 fletching by cutting and fletching about 33k normal trees. I will more than likely then buy feathers, rather than kill thousands of chickens for feathers. My overall goal in this task is to successfully not lose more than 3mil, and gain more than 10 total levels. Currently my real world goals are simple; I want to become more confident in my ability to back tuck, so that I can do one as and when I please, to be able to run 10k in 55 mins, learn to skateboard (i've been skating for just less than 3 weeks as of this post), and to write a section of my project report each week, with at least 4 experimental reactions being carried out, and a paper to be authored by december showing my findings. I hope you read my blog again. I'll update when I level, and discuss my progess in the real world too. Peace

What are your goals?
In the near future get a paper or 2 out on the research I'm carrying out. In the next year, complete my degree with at least a 2:1. In the next 2 years, get a job or a PhD placement. In 6 years, have a good job, be completely financially dependant and live in a kick ass place.

TIF's top video games you should own

Today...
how about the nothing else matters solo? I find it very easy to play, and its all based around the E minor scale. As for things that are fun, When the Night Falls by Iced Earth is a pretty wicked song to learn. And Oh Well by Fleetwood Mac, that guitar riff is some kind of amazing. Edit: Nice guitar btw. I bought me an epiphone SG express a few weeks ago because being without a guitar was killing me. Today I started working on my report thats due in in january, and upon researching the work I'm doing I'm the first person attempting this route to the product I'm after. I'm hopefully gonna get 2 papers written out of my work. It is making me very happy.

The Running Thread
I just ran a lap of my campus, its apparently 5.4km, and it took me 35 mins, but its a lot of up and down, which made it challenging. Luckily its overcast today or i dont think i'd have made it the whole way.

The Metal Thread
Blind Guardian have a new album coming out soon. I'm looking forward to it. I saw them last year at bloodstock open air, and was amazed at their performance, and having heard only Imaginations from the Other Side realised i was missing a whole lot by this band. The highlight of their set was The Bards Song, without a doubt one of the best experiences at a festival. Also, Machinae Supremacy might have a new album coming out soon =) I absolutely adore that band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_eFvnVYvNU

Inception
I really enjoyed watching this film last night. I found no specific problems with it and had fun watching it. Although I always go into any film with no expectations, as I used to get frequently disappointed with films being nowhere as good as they are hyped to be, so much so, that before last night I hadn't looked at this thread, I had read any reviews, I hadn't even watched a trailer or knew what the film was about, and I don't even know what inception means. That said, I enjoyed the film, can understand why people like it, and why its getting a lot of praise, and now looking at the reviews I feel they might be over hyping it a little bit. I'd give the film 7 or 8 out of 10, but I have no intention of getting it on dvd when its released, and don't plan on watching it again any time soon.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
I've been playing soul silver. I really got into it the last few days and have got to the elite 4. I don't really know how, my pokemon are hilariously under levelled. It was the last game I got, and currently the only one, except for runescape, that I have access to.

The Running Thread
I finally ran more than 2k here. I ran 6k in 35 mins. I started slow so i didn't have to stop, and kept good pace once I found it. Its so ridiculously humid I'm soaked, but glad I finished my run. Hopefully back to being able to do 10k by next weekend if I can, if not then in 2 weeks I'll be able to. Edit: I ran 1.5k today in 6 mins 22 seconds. I think thats alright for my first attempt at a timed specific distance.

What movie(s) did you last see?
I saw Despicable Me at the cinema this week. I thought it was brilliant. A really enjoyable kids film, and the cinema was rammed, but it always is, and there was 5 of us, all 21, that went and we all really enjoyed it. It was amusing and fun, which is what I look for in a film.
