  1. I would say... Make another character and choose a better name. Do every holiday event. DON'T train so much of those unnecessary skills.
  2. *Sigh* While mixing copper with tin is certainly one way to make bronze, it is not the only way, and even then you do not simply mix copper with pure tin. It isn't as simple as that, and is barely technically correct. Other minerals are required. And while we are on smithing, did you know that adding COAL in a furnace will turn Iron into Steel??? ZOMGWTHPWNAGE!!! If you wrote that on an exam, guess what you're going to get. And while we are on education... If anyone tries to pull something relating History, Science, Astronomy or any other academic crap and try to prove Runescape educates you in these areas... I agree it improves your practical typing skills, and may broaden your creative horizons, but there are FAR better ways to do these things.
  3. ... You've got to be kidding me. Ok, this is what I've learnt from Runescape: Crossbows are one handed, fast firing weapons capable of being used with a shield, and acts pretty much like a gun. In fact, crossbows are very heavy, are two handed, and fires about two shots per minute, unless you are considering the Chinese crossbow, which is considerably faster. They are also a pain to load. Maces are weak weapons not worthy of attention. In fact, maces are very powerful weapons capable of piercing armour. Shortbows are more powerful than longbows. Wrong. Longbows have far more range than shortbows do, and are far more capable of piercing armour. Why do you think English Longbowmen are so feared? And it takes lots of strength and training to wield a longbow. I can go on and on.
  4. I agree on two points: typing and imaginative writing. Runescape, as a computer social game, does greatly help in increasing one's typing speed and skills, regardless of 1337speech or any of that: the fact remains that it DOES actually help in that department. However, there are other, more efficient ways to do say, such as writing essays and stories on your computer, etc. I also agree on the part about Runescape and increasing your imaginative capabilities, since it does play upon your imagination: however, I would like to say that you could do so far more efficiently by reading books, novels, and fantasy epics. Besides, creativity is not exactly a skill that can be expanded: it is more of a talent, whether you have it or not. You can try to use more of your creative potential, but you will never be able to surpass someone who has more talent than you do. On all other points, such as mathematics and history, I disagree with the author. The maths that is involved in Runescape is very simple, and even then EVERYONE uses calculators, whether conventional ones or special ones developed by fansites like Tip.it. Runescape does nothing whatsoever to assist you in your maths skills, and even if it does the assistance is minimal and will only be significant if you already suck at maths: which, if that is the case, you would be better off getting tuition. Regarding history: one word, ridiculous. Do you think people who study history are stupid or something? I can assure you that no respectful historian, or just history students, would EVER confuse an economical axe with a battle axe. For you to suggest it so is insulting at best. And if you are going for historical accuracy, then Runescape is probably the worst place to start. Take one example: Crossbows. Do you really think that crossbows are one-handed? WRONG! Crossbows in real life are heavy, two handed weapons, and you most certainly cannot wield a shield with one! They are also excruciatingly slow to load, probably two shots every minute. Not like Runescape, where you fire off a bolt like a handgun. If you look to Runescape for your historical needs, you will be greviously misinformed.
  5. Looks like something out of Power Rangers.
  6. I'm sure you buy things in real life by going to the bank and shout, "Buying car for thirty thousand!!!" No. You go to a car dealer, as in, a building, that sells cars, with salespeople inside, and you sign agreements and such. Seriously. This is the twenty first century, not 2000 BC Mesopotamia.
  7. Can we stop whipping a dead horse and leave this thread alone? The author has long since ran away.
  8. Contented people do not have anything to say, but ranters DO. That is why, despite the ranters being a very small minority, they seem have a lot of influence: because they are loud. People who do not have anything to complain about remain silent. The reason why the Compliments board is so sparse is because, well it is simply pointless to make a thread to compliment JAGeX... I mean, the point? There is no argument, no come and go, it is simply a bunch of people agreeing with each other. Most contented people would not bother to do that... because if you remain contented (which is most of the time, even for the ranters), does that mean you go around posting how much you love JAGeX every day? So the number of threads on the Compliments to Rants board is irrelevant to the popularity of the game, although people with mediocre comprehension abilities may take it as such.
  9. The main reason they were shoved aside was because of the Dragonfire Shield. The Crossbows was just a dish of ice cream.
  10. Pures are usually F2P. People with Pures generally have a Main. Members Pures are a minority. Enough said.
  11. God spells, anyone? God capes? Castle Wars? Prayer? Ancient Magicks? Quests? Storyline? History and Lores?
  12. A triangle that works well at first glance but does not in the long run is not balanced. Are you saying just because something has an illusion of something, it must be true? Besides, mages in F2P only retain an advantage for a very short time. That does not compensate for the times when mages are seriously underpowered, which is about 95% from zero to level 99 experience.
  13. And we've discussed whether or not we should give clean needles to drug takers in Biology. That doesn't mean it is going to be in an exam. It is just random discussions.
  14. This game has one of the worst combat systems I've ever seen. However, this game was built on lots of crappy stuff (firemaking, anyone? Seriously, whoever thought of such a concept...), and has come too far to change anything now. If possible, however, I would prefer combat to be much, MUCH, less probability based.
  15. For me, the Drill Demon is a rare event. So far I have only gotten it twice.
  16. ... Part of the Grim Tales Quest?
  17. I don't believe you. For one thing: Bronze is not JUST made of copper and tin. Second: Bronze does not NEED to be made of copper and tin. It certainly needs copper, but tin is just a very popular additive, and even then it needs to be mixed with other elements like phosphorus. You don't NEED to add tin for it, and in cases where you did add it, that isn't enough. Oh and lastly? I doubt any school would make such a stupid question as "How do you make bronze". It is hardly relevant, even when you are studying alloys. There is also the fact that you said "Science Test". That implies you have not reached the stage where it branches into Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I doubt they will teach alloys until you begin studying each branch by itself. Conclusion: I think you are just pulling out false testimonies to justify yourself.
  18. I cried when I saw this topic.
  19. Those whiners on the forums should have their reproductive rights suspended. We don't need them to breed more idiots on this already idiot-infested planet.
  20. ... I have beaten people twenty levels above me on my not-so-pure mage. On F2P, where magic is the most underpowered skill at medium-high levels. Seriously, you made one trial and jumped to a conclusion? Remember, the Runescape Combat System is insanely probability based. One trial is no way near enough. If you were marked on your Scientific Process, I will give you zero.
  21. I am inclined to laugh at you, but shall refrain from doing so at the moment. Look at F2P Mage. Maximum damage, 16. Slowest attack speed. 200 - 300 coins per cast. Negligible armour. Barely any equipment boost to Magic. Pathetic holding spell. Now look at Rangers and Warriors in F2P, come back and tell me the F2P Combat Triangle is balanced. Yes it is balanced... most levels around 70-90 don't carry dragon hide with them while pking... at lets say only 59 mage (i got around 65 combat) It hits on rune a ton... Holding spell isn't that bad... the rune skimitars attack doesn't hit well even on mages and if they have say a rune kite it negates it a bit more... also prayer runs out FAST in f2p... if somone wants to keep prot from mage on it means sacrificing most of their offensive prayers... It is balanced... 100% That is simply pathetic logic. I shall tell you why. First off, the fact that warriors CAN wear dragonhide with no negative bonuses is bad enough. No other class can do that. So what if they generally don't bring dragon hides? Mages do not even have the option to change armours. That is simply an advantage unused, it does not become a disadvantage for the warrior if he or she chooses not to use it. Besides, you do realise that a warrior can always *gasp* take off their armour? Including *shocked silence* their Kites?? Yes, Magic is more accurate than Melee in general. You might also take into consideration that Magic is much slower than Melee. Or the fact that Ranged is more accurate AND way faster than Magic. Or the fact that Melee damage is much higher than Magical damage. As for holding spells, you obviously haven't touched it much. It is reasonably good if you want to prevent someone from running away from you, but it gives you no opportunity to farcast. Even when used to prevent escape, it only increases the chance of killing your victim on the spot by about 3%. Most of them simply run out and teleport. Or teleport outright if you are in low level Wilderness. Besides, prevention of escape only becomes an issue if you are winning, so it is not relevant. Prayer runs out fast on F2P? What's that got to do with anything? EVERY class can use Prayer. And for that matter, Mages have the added disadvantage of being protected against at lower prayer levels. Which isn't that significant at High Levels, but still. I would also like to clarify something. When I say F2P mage is weak I am referring to medium to high levels. At high levels, F2P mages still have their maximum damage stagnant at 16, and have no access to any binding spells that are actually decent for farcasting. Warriors have high damage as well as the option to increase their magical defense, by taking off their armour or slapping on dragon hide. Rangers... well, they own mages already. If you tell me again F2P magic is 100% balanced again, I'll... well, I will try my best to correct your fantasies.
  22. I doubt JAGeX would care about the quality of the community more than cash. F2P for them is an effective marketing stragety, and I believe they intend to keep it.

I agree with everything except "tele noob". The only reason I do not openly speak out against teleportation in the Wilderness is because of the sheer amount of clans and teams out there, and the fact that single zones are not truly single zones.
