  1. I am inclined to laugh at you, but shall refrain from doing so at the moment. Look at F2P Mage. Maximum damage, 16. Slowest attack speed. 200 - 300 coins per cast. Negligible armour. Barely any equipment boost to Magic. Pathetic holding spell. Now look at Rangers and Warriors in F2P, come back and tell me the F2P Combat Triangle is balanced.
  2. Tell me you truly believe that in real life. You would expect kids to be going around the neighborhood, calling random people "noob", KILLing people, stabbing cows with butter knives, or... umm... shoo dogs just for the heck of it? Maybe, telephone their neighbors and say, "I'll trim your car for free"? Seriously.
  3. I like sarcasm. It really, really gets the point across. Anyways. The thing is, you cannot transmit voice tones over the Internet unless you do so in captions or something, which would be too obvious. Though sometimes, it could actually work better... [sarcasm]Yes, of course. I'm sure you will.[/sarcasm] But generally, sarcasm is transmitted at least 50% through the tone of the user's voice. There is also the problem that a lot of kids in Runescape have no understanding of such complicated forms of speech, and will take everything with utmost seriousness, making the use of sarcasm extremely limited on the net.
  4. Some may argue that heavy metallic armour gives you extra weight, and so can add to the force of your attacks. Though I daresay if you try to take advantage of that, most of your attacks would go wide... Then again, this is a game. A line needs to be drawn between realism and balance, and balance should always be put first. If Warriors are disadvantaged by armours, well that is simply unfair. And it might make pures more common too... so for the sake of balance, dragonhide armour should in fact have negative strength bonuses or something.
  5. There is no evidence as to the claim that JAGeX picks their moderators carelessly. From what I've been seeing, most of the moderators JAGeX picked are all good choices. I don't really think that a level 3 standing in World 1 Varrock Bank reporting people left and right is going to be chosen simply because he reported lots of people.
  6. You could start by actually coming up with some decent arguments to respond to pretty much everyone else who is telling you what the problems are with this horrible idea. Seconded. How do you expect to start a debate when you yourself don't really contribute all that much to it?
  7. OK, I know you meant that F2P isn't a demo. IMO F2P is a demo, because a demo is a demonstration. F2P is a demo of how good P2P can be. F2P is not Runescape. What would P2P be then? F2P+P2P=Runescape; one cannot function properly without the other. In conclusion, F2P is (contrary to popular belief) a demon. Err, I mean demo. F2P came before P2P. P2P started off as an expanded F2P. F2P has F2P only moderators. Though technically, by your definition, F2P is a "demo", as a result of the constant evolution of P2P and the stagnancy of F2P, as well as JAGeX's gradual shift of focus from fun to money; it was not meant to be in the start and is not treated like one by JAGeX, if you disregard the technicalities. Second point. You mentioned "one cannot function properly without the other". Last time I checked, most games with demos can function pretty well without their demos. Also, considering the F2P can carry over directly to P2P, and P2P can be downgraded directly to F2P, I find F2P's non-technical resemblance to a demo to be quite small. Like you said, however; "one cannot function properly without the other". F2P and P2P are closely interlinked. So no, F2P is, as a generalisation, not a demo.
  8. Definitely. It is foolish to hold onto the old ways when newer, superior changes have been implemented. Besides, everyone will (hopefully no account transfers) start out at the same point again, so great~
  9. Because WoW is, in every way, a much better game, developed by one of the most prestigious gaming companies on the planet? Seriously, use your brain. And in response I would like to ask you: if Runescape became a time limited free trial, does that mean memberships will suddenly skyrocket, and Runescape will dethrone WoW or something? You seem to be implying that the reason for WoW's success is a time limited free trial there.
  10. Just because you increase supply does not automatically increase demand...
  11. Wannabe Mods? Sorry, can't resist.
  12. Exactly. I mean, seriously: there is a whole area which purpose is to commit murder.
  13. There! You said it yourself. F2P came before P2P. Therefore, F2P is not a demo. Q.E.D.
  14. Seriously... why all this bitterness against moderators? Have you mod-haters, as you wallow in your own self-righteousness and hypocrisy, ever stopped to consider that mods are normal players just like everyone else, with *gasp* human emotions and feelings? Have you ever realised that by generalising and insulting every single moderator indiscriminately, you yourself are sinking to the level of the behaviour you accuse mods of? Selfish little puffed up popinjays... If you ask me, a lot of mod-haters out there are only accusing mods because they themselves are not mods. Kind of like calling someone a noob when they PK you fair and square.
  15. I just wanted to debate So you mean that you started this topic only for the sake of debating? Clever. Would've worked better if you started a topic that actually has two more or less equal sides, instead of this one, where nearly everyone is piled against you. And no, I don't think there is any flaming here. No one has insulted him personally or anything, I think.
  16. So what? It's only one mod. I've met quite a few mods in my time on Runescape, and I've only ever met one abusive mod. Almost all of them are quite mature and decent, there aren't as many rotten eggs as people think. For some reason, people seems to expect JAGeX to do everything perfectly.
  17. Good scanner. Poor drawing. Artist has delusions of grandeur. Overall Rating: 3/10. Most of the points go to the scanner, of course.
  18. I would stay. But if there isn't enough people remaining to play, I would go. Besides, there are other free MMOs out there now.
  19. Skull Sceptre forever. If only the skull was actually fixed onto the top of the rod, instead of having a bit of the rod poking out at the top. I do wish they would change that and make the sceptre longer.
  20. Gielenor. Gael-len-nor. That's right. I prefer the ancient spelling.
  21. I'll bring a Sheep. I mean, seriously; a shearable, non-attackable friend? How good can friends get?
  22. I think people are doing a good job already without my contributions. All I could say is that technically, F2P is not a demo. You say that because it is a demo, it should be time trialled. So you seem to imply that a prerequisite for something being a demo is the presence of a time trial. Because F2P is commonly called a demo (a term never used or implied in any way by JAGeX), it must be changed so it suits the name "demo". Twisted logic, hmm? Rather, since F2P does not have a time trial, and does contain a hefty amount of content (PK!!), would it not be more logical to assume it isn't a demo, instead of twisting it so it becomes one? Besides, there is one thing that sort of proves JAGeX does not consider F2P a demo. That is the presence of F2P moderators: those that had never been members when they were selected. If F2P becomes time trialled, what will happen to F2P moderators?
  23. I salute you, venerable Geographer.
  24. *Shudder* You don't know how many people got a Tangled Vine, panicked and died. It was quite a nightmare... unless, of course; you like looting dead rookies.
  25. You pompous little brat.
