when you turn on the jet engines the treadmill will increace its speeds to compecent for this [/hide] When the treadmill increases its speed that will merely cause the wheels on the plane to spin faster while the plane continues to move forward. that would only work if there is something holding up the plane, keeping it from going back, the friction could work to make if go forward in one sense, but there will be more pulling back the of the turning of the wheel, dont get me wrong, i see where you going with this :wink: and i can see why you think it would work, but it just wouldn't work

i have an idea, lets just not run our airplanes on treadmills! seriously though, according to physics unless your airplane is going faster then the tread mill, that plane is not going to go any where. all that will happen is, it will sit there for maybe an hour or two, the tires will burn out and the plane will crash, or it will run out of gas, and fly off the tread mill check, and mate

the reason to many supports dont work to well is becasue it ends up adding more weight, then it does removing weight from the intial location. and yes i would like to see that O roll through the city, but it would probaly just get crushed under its own weight stuiped physicis

no, becasue the airplane needs to reach a certain speed in which the the the air pressure below the air plane is higher then the pressure above the plane. since it is on a tredmile, it wouldn't be gaining enough speed in-order to gain the intinal speed for take off.

just some places i see some weak spots 1 would probaly be the biggest problem, its would be free floating, if your building wasn't very strong and light that thing is ganna snap, points 2-4 would probaly be the biggests stress points, and would probaly snap right at the top when it did. point 5 isn't that big of a problem if it wasn't to big, but still be a problem. it would be alot better to go with an O because then the weight has two places to go instead of just 1 path. a second side would probaly cut the stress of the building by 50-100% the C just places to much pressure

well im still in high school, but i would like to be an engineer, applying to VT this fall...any way... techneclly it would be a plauable building if done correctly but the biggest problem is, there are way to many weak points in the building, the building itself really is that stable, from the size im thinking it would end up being it would probaly be more of a death trap then anything. the other thing i think would pose a problem is that its not really pratical, one there would be alot of extra walking, alot of people would be using the elvator so there would have to be alot of them, and also theres alot of wasted horzontal space, you would have to buy alot of land, but probaly wouldn't get the same amount of office space as a tradiational rectangular building basicly you can make a cheaper, stronger, small building alot easier then this. If your rich and wanna build this death trap, go right ahead, i sure as hell wont be using it though :
