I broke my wrist while playing rugby once, was on the end of a scrum when it collapsed, resulting in the weight of about 9 people crashing down on yours truly. I remember playing on for a while not realising anything was severely wrong, it just felt a little painful. Edit: Can't believe i forgot about this, clearly the most embarassing injury in my life: I was on a school trip to Austria for a week's skiing, in the evening a lot of us went down to the basement to a room with 3-4 table tennis tables for a game or 2 (we were too young to drink at the time and there wasn't a lot else to do). I was playing against a teach and was getting a bit cocky, started to show off and did a sort of spin before attempting to hit the ball. All didn't go according to plan and i tripped, smacked my head on the wall, and was pretty much unconscious for about 30-40 seconds. People were worried for about half that time before they started laughing, and i got 'wally of the day' for it.

Y'know, i don't want to turn this topic into an argument but i'd really like to know what the holy hell you're talking about? I post 1 article, i've already wished well for this kid, and you respond like that... what's your problem? If you think the article is wrong, then prove it wrong - if you think i'm a "wuss" (quite refreshing to hear this word actually, i stopped using it when i was about 11 years old), then please feel free to explain why, seeing as you seem to know me so well?
-
Not sure if i should post this here, but i just read an article and didn't think it deserved a thread of it's own. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4681771.stm 'proof', that those of us simply wishing well, are doing just as much good as those of you praying.

Cheers chaps, i'm giving this poweramp jobby a go. It really is. In future i won't bother with it, i don't use it for playing music so i don't know why i bothered using it to rip a CD.
-
Not sure if i should be posting in the tech/comp section so move this if need be. I've recently bought an album which i ripped to my HD, but i really have .wma files. It won't let me edit the tags in winamp, and i'm one of these people who likes their tags to be done correctly. Really i'm after 1 of 2 alternatives: 1. A wma to mp3 converter. The only catch is i don't want to pay for it, so if anyone knows of any free downloadable programs (no illegal stuff here, i want to keep this topic open), let me know. I really don't want to lose any quality, because ripping the cd alone seems to have made the sound quality a little more tinny. 2. Find a torrent for the album and download it. I wasn't sure about this one because i know TIF doesn't support piracy or whatever, so here's proof i do actually own the album... The album is by Superjoint Ritual, and it's called 'Use Once And Destroy'. If anyone can help me with this i'd be chuffed. Mods - if i've broken any rules then feel free to delete part 2 of my post.

That's a point - what car do you drive?

I bought a Kenwood CD/MP3 player for about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã80, and a set of Infinity 6x9 speakers on sale for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã50. I see no point in spending any more really, i can crank my system as loud as hell, and the sound quality is superb.

And this kids, is how you become a big man.

Cool. Im hoping to become a Special in the next few years :D Booooooooooooooooo! Pull me over and i'll flour you
-
Remind how long you had your car before spinning it on a main road? Erm.... about 4 hours, and it was a roundabout thankyou very much!

I have a fear of driving with Mercifull

I'm involved in a family business, so ultimately i think i will be in charge of that business. At the moment my parents own a franchise that provides a drain clearing service (see here for more details). My mother and myself run the office/admin side of the business, my dad and my brother are on the road doing the 'dirty work'. It's a position i'm very fortunate to be in because the business is doing extremely well, and really can only get better, so it's good to know that my future is secure. I do actually enjoy my work too, so i'm happy to be a part of it.

Absolutely. You ask any 'real' muslim about their thoughts on 9/11 and they'll tell you they're disgusted by it, and it is most certainly not the work of god. Any religion will have its extremeists - unfortunately these are the cases that will be most highly publicized.
-
You make it sound like satanists are the only people that kill for religion. Have you not been reading the news lately? Even scrapping the latest developments with holy wars (Palestinians, 9/11, Hollocaust), you've only got to think back to Roman times to see another example of people killing for their god.

Correctamundo. Sorry if i didn't make myself clear on that one - i did mean deleteing the problem posts in a thread, would be a better solution than locking the thread altogether.
-
Deletion of post > lock of thread. Not always that easy, i know...

Other people have said they won't pray because they're atheist, i fail to see the difference here. If he wants to wish him well, i don't see why you should feel inclined to jump on him for it. That being said, i'm an atheist too but i do wish your brother well.

I don't think i posted in this thread last time so here's my little room (I work from home so it's kind of used as an office too). View as you open the door. The picture should be on my wall but i haven't got around to putting up the fixtures for it yet, so there it stays - it actually has lots of LED's that come on and off, pretty cool imo. Other than that, you can see my fan (it's damn hot here right now), desk chair, and the lead on the right goes to a lava lamp. Oh and the big thing is a wardrobe. On the other side of the wardrobe is my desk. Nothing too abnormal about this, i spend my working day here and usually if i'm at home i'll be at my desk. The things to the right of the monitor are festival guides that i've picked up over the years, and the nodding rasta at the top is..... well i just like him because when i'm playing loud music his head wobbles. The silver thing on the left of the picture is my TV. Looking left as you walk through the door - my bed! Not too exciting, i know (says a lot about my personal life, unfortunately). On the other side of my TV is where i keep most of my DVD's and CD's, computer games, as well as my guitars and stuff related to them. And don't call me a girl for having candles, i just like to set the mood every now and then ;) Here's a close up of my guitar type stuff, and my playstation which isn't plugged in because i felt the need to take it apart the other day. And finally, looking back towards the door, the chair that i keep next to my bed. It's uber comfy so i'll generally sit there to watch TV, read....... or store clothes on by the looks of it. Edit: OK, resized the pics. Now you 56k people can't get on my back about it. Double edit: God dammit, i re-sized them but i refuse to reduce quality, get a decent connection you scum!

A little off topic, but on the oasis live matter: I saw them on Saturday night (for the second time), and they are probably in the top 3 of my favourite live performances of all time. Considering the fact that i've been to 6 or 7 festivals and a fair few other gigs over the past 5/6 years (totalling probably over 100 well known, well established bands), that's a pretty high accolade. I do agree with Matt though, we both saw them at glastonbury last year and they weren't on form at all really - i'm just glad i saw them on Saturday when they were really on top of their game. As far as RBF, not really my style. I've liked a few ska songs, but other than Less Than Jake, i can't say i'm a huge fan of the genre.
-
Correct. I'm no physics master but i'm pretty sure the sound has to be played at the right note, as well as a high volume.
-
Glad you enjoyed them, i saw Maiden in December of 2003 and they were awesome. I'm not a huge fan or anything but they put on one hell of a live show.
-
Hmmm, i've always preferred our date format. It just seems more logical to have date, month, year, ascending in 'size'. Especially when said out loud, it's the (for example) 6th day of the 7th month of the year 2005. [/off topic]

I can't remember really, i do remember passing 1337 posts, but not by much...

Oh no, the day we've all been dreading has arrived! Daan's gonna be like a kid in a sweet shope for the next few days.

I completely agree. Nearly 2 hours of waves, then everyone dies. What a waste of my life that was.
