  1. Heh the only problem with that is that it would take well over a year to do :P Or at least several months, assuming you play a couple hours every day. Things like that are only practical for lower level achievements (i.e. 70 herblore), but not a 99.
  2. Exact numbers for this are nearly impossible to come by. Because you will never be able to buy your ingredients for the same price all the way to 99, and you will never be able to sell your potions for the same price all the way to 99. It's probably impossible to come out even unless you spend months upon months waiting for people with low prices to come a'knocking. Personally, I would recommend making a combination of anti-fire, range, prayer (when you can get good deals on herbs, but be warned that there is a huge demand for Ranarr Weed, so people are willing to pay a lot, therefore raising prices) and mage potions. Those typically don't cause you to lose as much money, from my personal experience.
  3. Locked ~ Question answered. Please use the Help & Advice forum for all questions.
  4. We will never get to a point where everybody knows about the subforum and posts in it correctly. How long has the Help & Advice forum been around? Ages. And do we still see questions being asked in General Discussion? Yes, but we don't see anybody complaining about that. If you report the misplaced threads, they will be moved to the proper subforum. And if they're not, PM me and I'll do it myself.
  5. Locked ~ Spam. This entire forum is for RuneScape ideas and suggestions - we don't need one thread to compile them.
  6. If any of you clicked the link, please be sure to check out the following thread and follow Pure_MageUK's instructions on how to remove the keylogger: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=711644

Spam removed - do not use the term 'gay' in a derogatory fashion. Now back on topic pleaaaase
  8. Nobody from the Tip.it staff will ever ask you for your password (on any website). In addition we will never send you e-mails unless you fill out and send us a Contact Us or Account Problem message through the forms on our website. Our regular form of contact is through the forum message system.
  9. This has been discussed time and time again and probably won't happen. An easy fix to this would just be to lower the quality of your image. That can make a huge difference in the kb size and changes the appearance of your image very little. Changing it from 100% to 70% can make a big difference.
  10. Congratulations :) Although the correct forum for such a post would be the Rate This subforum of BlogScape. In addition, people usually like to see you post a picture displaying your achievement and/or current stats. It adds a little something extra to your post ;)
  11. Just coming back to this to share some personal experiences and opinions: Post requirements have really drawn me away from other forums (not RuneScape-related). In the past, I've joined forums in hopes of sharing my art or talking to people who share a common interest... just to find out that I need 50 posts on other boards before I can post in the art section. Now that's just silly. Maybe I'm not interested in the other boards, and just want to post in the art section. Well now I'm left with two options: spam (or maybe not even spam, but just post unmeaningful, almost worthless comments that I didn't put thought into) the other boards to rack up a post count of 50, or find another forum. My personality would cause me to just leave the forum. It's not worth my time to post on boards I'm not interested in. The same concept can be applied to Tip.it. Would doing this weed out the "bad eggs?" Sure maybe some of them, but it will also stop a bunch of intelligent, enjoyable users from coming to the forums. Maybe someone wants to join the forums to help out in the Help & Advice section. But what if that has a 50 post count requirement? Same goes with Off-Topic, Tech & Computers, The Gallery, etc. We want the forums to be as welcoming and open as possible. Restrictions only cause people to lose interest and prevent people from registering and maintaining an account. Sure it could help us in one sense, but in my opinion, it will hurt us much more than it would help us. If people were to more actively report users, this wouldn't be as much of a problem. I can't tell you how many times I see someone post a nasty comment, and instead of reporting it, someone just shoots one back at them, continuing this negative cycle which certainly doesn't help our community. If you make the effort to report users who post worthless, rude, inappropriate, or rule-breaking comments, that user will be handled appropriately (through removal or their posts in addition to a warning, a temporary or permanent ban). If you guys cooperate and work with us (instead of expecting us to implement tons of rules in hopes of fixing it all ourselves), we don't need a post requirement to improve our community.
  12. Pointlessly bumping topics is against the Tip.it Forum Rules. Locking this as the user has been banned and there is therefore no reason to leave this open.
  13. Hehe it does/did affect it a tad. Although, we're actually quite lucky. We managed to get through almost all of the applications and make decisions before the search function went offline.
  14. Then I guess you will be happy to know that you're not the only person from you're time zone who sent in an application.
  15. Referral links are not permitted on the Tip.it Forums.
  16. There is some odd glitch in the system where accounts may be deleted and has happened to a couple other users as well. Your account has not been banned and probably wasn't accidently been deleted by an administrator.. it is a result of this odd glitch. Please contact Albosky to sort this out. He should be able to restore your account.
  17. I don't think that 7 hour statistic is true. Maybe a maximum of 7 hours, but definitely not an average. In the PST time zone, I often see multiple moderators and administrators logged in at once (and keep in mind that some of us may be hidden). In the Australian/etc. time zones, it does quiet down a bit, but 7 hour average is still a tad exaggerated. As I said earlier, one of the original purposes of the moderator applications was to find users in specific time zones to help moderate (specifically the Australian time zone). So "What time zone are you in" was in fact one of the questions in the application and is something that we will take into consideration when deciding who are final trainees will be. A lot of you underestimate the work that gets put into moderating. It is not simply continuing on like a regular user and locking/removing/moving problematic posts/threads that you come across. There are almost always 1-15 reports to be dealt with at a time and they just keep coming in. Inappropriate signatures need to be evaluated and dealt with, we need to consider suggestions made by users and then implementing them, etc. It's not all luxury and easy-going work. It is time consuming and I certainly don't think we should kick out members of our team who "do all their moderator work but don't have time to post as a regular user, and therefore aren't active enough for the staff..." or something like that. Now I think I'm just about done with this thread so don't be surprised if I don't respond again. We will have a large batch of moderator trainees coming in soon (hopefully) and they will assist with these problematic threads. Our hopes are that we will have more time zones covered and the forums will be actively moderated at all hours of the day/night. If we still have a problem after the moderator trainees are selected and have "moved in" to their new positions, then we'll have something to discuss.
  18. That's one of the goals of the moderator applications ;) We're hoping to get the moderators more evenly spread throughout the timezones.
  19. ^^ Pretty much what I was going to say :) We appreciate you aspiring to help the Tip.it community, but the entire Help & Advice forum is for posting questions. So feel free to help others by posting on their threads
  20. Crew members already work exceptionally hard the way it is. I'm sure a lot of them barely have enough time for their website work, let alone moderating the forum as well.
  21. The process of encouraging users to sign up to a website and credit you as the person who REFERED them (showed them the website) is called a referral, and they are not permitted on our forums in any shape or form.
  22. As some of you may have noticed, we hosted two new contests this month: Achievement of the Month and Picture of the Month. Please give a big round of applause for our first two winners: Achievement of the Month: DRUMINATOR17 for 95 slayer before any 99 combat stat - 95 Slayer! and what?...NO lvl 99s either?!? Picture of the Month: hiimben - HiiM's Gallery Feel free to post on their threads (linked above) to congratulate them and/or comment on their achievement/picture. Congratulations you two!! As their titles imply, these contests are to be held monthly, so don't forget to nominate users for October!
  23. And that is one of the biggest forms of moderating. I'd say locking threads is one of the smaller aspects of the job. The list of things that don't require a post on public forums is much larger than the list of things that do require a post on public forums. So just because a moderator hasn't locked a thread in a while, doesn't mean they're doing nothing... that's all I'm trying to say.
  24. Only a small fraction of moderator duties include locking threads, which other than regular browsing of the forums, is where their noticable postcount would come from. Like Albosky said, there are so many more things that must be done outside of locking threads (which requires a post on their behalf), which you can't even see. Removing an inappropriate thread from public view does not require a post on the public forums. So for all you know, they could be doing that every day, yet you wouldn't see a single public post out of them. One of the biggest complaints about why we need more moderators is because keylogger threads are left out in the open too long. And as I said before, removing and dealing with a post/thread that is against the rules does not require a post on the public forums, but it is still an essential (and one of the most important) aspects of being a moderator. Inactive moderators do sometimes take a little while to be dealt with, but we have so much more on our plates that it's hard to juggle everything at once. But trust me when I say that they are handled with.
