  1. Sorry GW, I didn't mean it like that, but Democrats in general have socialistic *type* of ideals. I'm not saying he;s gonnas get rid of religion and everything or w\e. But even my gov't teacher who's a Democrat says that Republicans have capitalistic forms odf gov't, and Democrats socialistic.
  2. Reb, you've not added anything to these debates at all. Even though I don't really agree with what people are sasying, at least they're offering up their opinions, instead of trying to be "smart."
  3. It is, but not always. And yea, I mean, just because America is pretty well off, doesn't mean, we're equal in every city, though we should be. But Obama really isn't the answer, Capitalism has been proven to work, but not Laissez-Faire.
  4. Ohhh, ok, gotcha. Eh, whatever floats your boat.
  5. Wtf do you mean Reb?
  6. Are you ACTUALLY suggesting that we don't teach the most comprehensive explanation for the way mankind is built because some people don't agree with it? Some people don't agree about a heck of a lot of things, but in the end, they're taugh in schools (especially in Science classes) because they are the most comprehensive explanations for the nature/origin of species as we know them. Yep, but I'm also sayin don't teach Creationism, why I believe in, and have the parents teach them. That would end so many fights\ rallys or w\e, or wanna be bills. Side note: Evolution is the most comprehensive explantion that YOU know of.
  7. It hasn't... You mean you've actually received a message from God? Lol. Is all I gotta say, "actually." And all I gotta say is, that in Warrior's case, you'd be Agnostic, you're just not sure. But Atheism IS a faith - you BELIEVE that God doesn't exist. You have your proof, we have ours, and neither will accept each other.
  8. It does matter, actually. I mean, he can be Atheist, but even a lot of Atheists agree, that Judeo-Christian values are important - such as capitalism, and such. In fact, God SUPPORTS taxes, are you saying it'd be rational not to tax? Nice. And so why do people teach about Evolution? Teaching that humans evolved from monkeys? Ok. Sure, you believe that, that's cool, I don't, so don't teach it in schools. Thats why, I think, creationism AND evolution should be left out of schools, and it should be the parents job to teach them. And most people still do honor thy neighbor, but that doesn't mean they need to agree with them, that means to respect them as human being. And aren't yuo frocing your evolutionistic beliefs on us? Why I do believe so.
  9. Eh, the way I see it, is the only Faith you need, really, is getting to know God. It's like the leap of faith is asking God into your heart, then after that leap, you're on solid ground, and you realize - that it really is true. But, someone people are too scared to jump, because they're afraid they might fall.
  10. So, for the Senior Assembly, we were all given raffles, to be able to win a $400 prize (my friend one, 3 people behind me lol :x) And I got the raffle from the Guidance Department chair, and walked 3 feet past her to my Gov't teacher who was also handing em out, and because I was bored as heck, I winked at my teacher and said "Hey, Ms. _______ can I have a raffle I never got one" idk why, it really wasn't even funny, I was just really bored, she lauighed whatever that means. So I'm walking away, and like the lady just realized it she says "hey you! Good greif you greedy kids, can'tr you give someone else a chance for the raffle? You should be ashamed of your self, do you want OSS?" Now, I have never gottena detention or iss or oss or w\e, so not wanting to get one then, I ran and slipped into the crowds. I'm such a rebel.  :wall: :wall:
  11. *sigh* So you're saying that you never ever use faith in your life, ever?
  12. Saru Inc replied to Kashi's topic in Off-Topic
Exactly. And that's why I recommend an axe. Lolll. Idk how people can die by suffocating in a pillow, I usually wake up facve in a pillow and can breathe fine.. I mean...:anxious: www.webmd.com Try shaking your head even harder to the left, and maybe the swelling with stay in the middle. Thus increasing your intelligence!
  13. Yes, I'm getting those amino acids. If I'm not getting them, they can't be essential, as I turned 15 a few months ago and have never been inside a hospital except to visit relatives. I guess you can be healthy without eating meat. I do eat vegetarian replacement stuff, and I think it's delicious. Maybe because I have never eaten any meat to compare it with, but it certainly isn't disgusting and I probably wouldn't stop eating it even if I were to stop my vegetarianism. But can you bench 250? Who cares? On a lighter note: This kid in my AP Spanish Class, said that he;d rather join the army and kill humans in other coutnries then to kill animals for food. His reasoning "well uhh like you know when you cut off the chickens head uhh you know what its called oh yea its still alive do you want to eat zombie meat?" And that's the reason he's been a vegan for 4 years now. I asked "But _______ isn't pulling carrots out of the ground killing them too? Just to feed your selfish appetite?" He had an epiphany, apparently. And is now going to live on Slim fast for the rest of his life. I Love messing with stoners lol.
  14. I don't see how you can watch Msnbc and not know. I mean Msnbc makes Fox look like Pbs or something. I mean when you see Keith Olbermann anchoring coverage of the conventions, It is just so blatant that they are in the tank for Obama and the democrats. At least I got to see Olbermann make a fool of himself. Foxnews has Bill O'Reilly and Karl Rove. How much worse can you get than that? O'Reilly constantly makes a fool out of himself, so maybe people have just grown accustomed to him. Yes MSNBC is one of the most liberal channels, but don't try saying Fox isn't as bad. NOOOO NOT BILL O REILLY!! I hate that guy, most Republicans do, he'sa self righteous moron. I imagine, if he were to interview Jesus, he'd say in a pompous voice 'So, Jesus, why;d you die so early? That was pretty selfish of you, you could have saved so many people, but no, you took the easy way out." I watch him just to laugh, at what an idiot he is. He's like Pat Robertson, I semi-agree with what they say, but they go about it the completely wrong way.
  15. How the flying [bleep] hell do you know a god exists? In a way you will never understand until you feel the same thing. That's very true, actually. And also, sometimes you need to believe what you can't always see. That doesn't mean you can't find facts about it, but I mean, not everything is at eye level. So many emotions and such that can't be explained, and you would'nt know anything abouty them, until you felt them. Just like (yea, this is an extreme example) if you felt suicidal, someone would say that was a stupid feeling, until they actually also become suicidal and knew how it felt. Now, I don't think I should be comparing God to suicide but... (I say many, and not all emotiuons, because some CAN be explained, such as saratonin levels (sp?) ) there's still facts that emotions such as love, and despair exist. Even though you can't see them, per se.
  16. Why am I surprised that your statement comes with a heaping load of irrational assumptions? You assume that parents could just snap their fingers and generate a job at will. In case you haven't noticed, its difficult at times for even skilled workers to find jobs. The current unemployment rate is 6.1%, which doesn't even take in to account people who have given up job hunting because their prospects are so bad. How exactly are two (likely uneducated) parents living in poverty supposed to find these magical 40 hour a week jobs again? That's true, over here in Virginia Beach, it's extremely hard to find a job. As soon as a place opens you gotta go there and get an application fast. At leastm for high schoolers.
  17. It's some Black Liberation Theology, or something along the lines. Basically, White Christians are liars, and Black Christians are the real ones. Something like that, I forget. But he says he's "Christian," though he isn't really.
  18. What does this even mean? I don't know, I've not read the book yet, lol. But I'd be guessing that it meant with the titlt of the earth, or something like that. And to Penguin, science AND faith can co-exist, just not the whole of it. Just like some algerbra and geometry can "co-exist"( can't think of a better word, maybe apply) but not all of algerbra is used in geometry and vice verse. I gtg work now, I'll check back when I'm done.
  19. To be honest, I have no idea why God exists, I just know he does. I bet a theologian could answer it though.
  20. Your complete ignorance to the world around you astounds me more and more every time you post. Firstly, poor people are not poor simply for being lazy. I have no idea where you've got that myth, because not even the GOP would support that comment. No Christian church service I've ever been to has insinuated that either. Interestingly enough, Newsnight (on the BBC) had a report from Paul Mason last night from Michigan. Apparently, the top three jobs there are: [*:126a4iem]Restaurant/fast food outlet worker [*:126a4iem]Shop assistant [*:126a4iem]Cashier Neither of which earn more than $10 an hour on average. This isn't even an economically challenged area either - it's post-industrialist America. For context, that amount is effectively below the legal minimum wage in this country for 16 year olds. The issue is not that poor people are lazy, it's that the gap between the rich and the poor is too wide. If your myth was true, that most poor people are lazy, the economy would grind to a halt since no one would be working for middle-class business owners. As for the homeless, I'd have thought it obvious why a homeless man can't apply for a job without a home address. I would consider a cashier lazy. That is a pretty easy job and if someone is content to be a cashier and be poor I would call them lazy. The average poor household in America runs on less than 20 hours of work per week. If that were increased to 40 how many people do you think could be lifted out of poverty? Just by working full time. I know that saying the solution to be poor is actually getting off your but and working might not be politically correct though. I work 36 hours a week, and I have school. Doesn't really leave room for a social life, though. But 1_Man_Army is very true, Jack. I'm always asking for more and more hours, but the bosses often want more money, so they give you less. On the flip side, !_Man_Army, it isn't that hard to move up from above a cashier without even a college education. My sister got a job paying 14$ an hour answering phones, and she didn'ty even go to high school. (She was half highschooled,. semi complicated, but she didn't get a GED)
  21. Actually, my interpretation of this verse: John 1:1-8 (New International Version) New International Version (NIV) Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society John 1 The Word Became Flesh 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it. Verse 3, in 1 Chapter of John. I think, for me at least that says the evolution can't exist along with the Bible. Also, my mom told me about this book - I'm quite interested in it, and want to go buy it and read it - apparently it's called "Mathematics is God Being Silent" or something about that, how like there are to many coincdences or something for God not to exist.
  22. Obama isn't proposing to let individual communities issue a ban on firearms because he closed his eyes and randomly picked something out of the Constitution. Guns are inherently dangerous, and if a community chose to ban them, they should be allowed to. I don't know of anyone that's been killed by a drive-by shouting match or 'Our Father', so I would have a hard time believing anyone would recommend banning free speech or religion. Obama: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it. Obama :While a complete ban on handguns is not politically practicable, I believe reasonable restrictions on the sale and possession of handguns are necessary to protect the public safety. In the Illinois Senate last year, I supported a package of bills to limit individual Illinoisans to purchasing one handgun a month; require all promoters and sellers at firearms shows to carry a state license; allow civil liability for death or injuries caused by handguns; and require FOID applicants to apply in person. I would support similar efforts at the federal level, including retaining the Brady Law. And speaking of taking away Constitutional (and human) rights, McCain has a history of opposing habeas corpus. -- The Military Commissions Act of 2006, which McCain backed, effectively eliminated enemy combatants' rights even if they were held on US soil. The 2008 Supreme Court ruling nullified it, but McCain's vow to keep fighting for it has disturbed some human rights activists and legal specialists. McCain called that ruling (which established that foreign terrorism suspects held in detention at the US military base at Guantanamo Bay have the constitutional right to challenge their detention in civilian courts), "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country" Obama actually makes sense, but I still don't think they should be regulated to the extreme Snipersas says. Also, Lincoln also suspended Habeus Corpuis if I remember correctly - but he was still a great president.
  23. You really haven't - there are some I've not brought up because I'm slowly drawing away from this debate. It's kinda pointless. And I'm sorry if I sounded rude, I was quite cranky (I don't know if you took offence) But here's the thing, cool, they support McCain good for them, but that doesn't really mean anything. I can see where you're getting at, with the anti-American thing, if only it made sense. McCain will most likely get us out of the war before the two year mark, because more and more of American troops are leaving Iraq, and the Iraqis are taking over more positions. Iraqis are finally unafraid to come out of their homes, BUT, this is the most crucial part, if we pull out too soon, they could collapse into chaos and be worse than before.
  24. First off, Cup_Lion, I asked my mom that (the south africa thing) and she said the same exact thing as you. o.O Anyways, Utopia, you made a fatal flaw, you compared the oldtestament to the new. Here's the thing, the Old Testament has values used to purify the Jews to ready them for Christ, which is why, if a house had mold, it was to be destroyed, it was to set the Jews apart. Also, they did several things, like sacrificing a lamb, in order to talk to God. But when Jesus came, (New Testament) that was all abolished, and yes, the way through heaven is to him. It is said somewhere, Nicodemus (sp?) was a Chief Pharisee (Jesus haters) and when he saw Jesus he said something, like 'how can I get into heaven?' and Jesus said "To be born again through me." Nicodemus, being a literal said "how Can I go into my mother;s womb again?" And Jesus said something along the lines of that he needed to believe in Jesus, and he'd go to heaven. And everyone, whether you believe in God or not, he's a just God, it may not be your version of justice, but it's justice. And Utopian, it's quite obvious, which is, and which isn't. But some differ on that, such as, the Catholic Church ( I think) says each day in Genesis was 1,000 years or something like that, while others take it literal, as a day. But then, you know, for a fact, that parables are an idea.
